Guaranteed group buys will be interested.  I'd be up for organizing at least one.
422  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 17, 2013, 01:00:26 AM

In the real world when people don't meet deadlines they pay for the damages.

That's not always true.  Generalizations like this are not helpful.  The bigger the deadline the more wiggle room is usually built in.  Two weeks is really not a ridiculous delay, and anyone with good business sense understands that large projects have large unforeseen problems.  Not anticipating some kind of hiccup is the sign of a bad businessman.  When you are dealing with this kind of money, not at least calculating the risk of a delay (especially with someone at the helm who's never run this scope of a project before) is doing yourself a disservice.  Seriously, who here DIDN'T expect at least a little delay?  Batch #1 #2 and #3 all experienced delays.

The vitriol and anger spilling out of this thread is extremely telling.

You're probably safe enough.

But, IMO, you are being insufficiently paranoid. Smiley

The more data points we have, the easier it is to crack your encryption.

IOWs, IMO, you should have sent this data as a pseudo-private email.

Ok.  Will do.

Why is this GP so slow? Are we waiting on AM or what? Been 2 weeks and over 1/2 haven't even shipped the first batch?

 Huh

Yep
426  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy REOPENED! (previous customers only!) .175 per unit! on: August 16, 2013, 09:23:58 PM
GPU miners 'should' pretty much all be out by now.

Yep; that's part of the reason I'm so keen to get more of these.  I LOVE mining, and I just had to shut down my video cards because this last difficulty change finally made them unprofitable.  I mined until the VERY end with those things.

Right now all I've got until the Avalon chips show up is my lowly 1 erupter from this first group buy.
427  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy REOPENED! (previous customers only!) .175 per unit! on: August 16, 2013, 08:48:45 PM
Well, I accept we both can't know the future and that this is a gamble.  We'll see how it plays out.

429  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy REOPENED! (previous customers only!) .175 per unit! on: August 16, 2013, 06:10:51 PM
bluespace ant, ok. i'll refund ya.

dpos, appears you got it today.

the refunded and not paid for units will be redistrubted after i post this. of course the people with 3 will first get a 4th.

and stop squabbling. i have plenty as it is. alreayd had to buy two more hubs... (well, WILL have plenty, i should say.)

and photon939, i can't find an email or PM from you about sending payment for the extras. i'll leave them reserved for you while we sort that out.

This is why I do and will continue to do business with you Arklan.  Very upfront and consistent in your attempt to keep things fair.  Fucking A+.

and THIS is why, now that i've realized there's only 1 extra (after giving everyone their 4) you get it. Cheesy

Shazaam!  Thanks!  Will post payment this evening.

As soon as I get a refund he of course can do anything he wants.  But I would prefer that Arklan get the 5 to make up for having to refund me.  I know why you have an issue, because you want more at 0.175.  I do not have an issue, I just want Arklan to get something for his effort here.  If I have to cancel the request for refund and sell them to him privately, I can do that too.  Would that make it easier for you?   Smiley

Wow.  That sounds a bit spiteful.  Maybe send Arklan a PM next time and work it out privately?

What did you expect when you announced you didn't want your five?

Yes I should have considered that before I posted.  In hind sight I would have just done this privately.

I said I wanted Arklan to have them because he is having to deal with refunding me.  Not sure why that is a problem considering that I paid on time and still do not have them in my hands.  You think it is spiteful for me to want to allow Arklan, the one that actually has to deal with all of this, to have mine, the ones I have paid for?

 Roll Eyes

By asking for a refund, you completely remove yourself from the equation.  You don't then get to dictate who does what, because you've washed your hands of it.  If you want to compensate Arklan for his time, do so directly and give him some money.  Let us (those continuing to participate and Arklan) figure out what to do with the miners you say you want no part of.
433  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy REOPENED! (previous customers only!) .175 per unit! on: August 16, 2013, 03:20:38 PM
considering i've not been instructed to pay for them, i find that very unlikely indeed...

personally i just hope it happens sometime... i hate sitting on other peoples money like this.

I paid for 2 before the first payment was sent to Friedcat and I still do not have them, nor do they show on the spreadsheet as packed or shipped.  And now I see that Friedcat is not responding and still has not given you a payment address!?  By the time they are in my hands difficulty will have risen so much that I will not even get back even the 0.175 BTC by mining with them.

Arklan, please refund the total of 0.875 BTC I sent you for the 5 I have paid for (2 initial and 3 extras).  Address is 12dt3mJVyBH8CHM8h9Wxu5oS7YYA4UYCkz.  Thank you.

Arklan if you allow transfers I am willing to buy bluespaceant's erupters.

I would prefer that all 5 go to Arklan to make up for having to refund me.

If you are getting refunded, the erupters are Arklan's to do with as he wishes.  If Arklan wants to keep them and pay for them himself, that's his prerogative.  I'm just asking if I can buy them instead of you.  Not sure why you'd have an issue with that.

Here's the best summary.  Read it and weep.

Thank you Smiley
Was there an official post in this thread?

Only "official" post in this thread was a notice that a summary was coming.  Then someone quoted page 1 and Bitsyncom pointed out there was a second page.  That's all we have to go on "officially".

How many lefts to pay? and who didn't pay? - - maybe you should just sell to who can pay now, first comes first serves Grin

And things will move more faster...

It would also be nice to already have collected payment when friedcat gives the go-ahead for the next order.  I'd desperately like to get more at .175.  Also, the spreadsheet says "15 available".  Can those who only got 3 extra go ahead and get a 4th?  Would be cool.
437  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 15, 2013, 05:43:21 PM
I think the 30 sample chips issue was addressed and the original terms applied, but there had been a mixup in shipping to some group buyers.  I don't remember where I saw it addressed though.
438  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 15, 2013, 05:23:09 PM
what the hell do u want steamboat to tell u ? he's waiting for chips and thats it .. wtf is so hard to understand ?

For one i want to know the procedure of how to transfer my order to someone else. That the chips are not here yet doesn't mean he doesn't have to sit on his ass and do nothing. He needs to respond to my messages, is that so hard to get through your skull? It's his god damn duty, for he is PAID to provide these services.

Steamboat made it clear he would not be providing mechanisms for transferring your order to someone else.  Did you even fucking read the OP?  Jesus.  You need to read what has ALREADY been posted before asking for updates.

Edit, just for your convenience:

Can orders be split and/or transferred?
We are not responsible for any splits or transfers negotiated after purchase of the chips, nor will we facilitate any trades.
439  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 15, 2013, 03:02:11 PM
That 48k number keeps getting thrown around, but I'm fairly certain that much of that is reinvested into board parts, assembly, staffing, etc. He specifically mentioned batch 1 assembly will be produced at a loss. Yes, we paid a premium for Steamboat's reliability and expertise, but the holdup is at Yifu. Yes, another update would be nice, but if the past in any indication of the present, Steamboat is probably tying up loose ends for assembly and trying to contact Yifu.

Stop being ridiculous. You know what you have with Steamboat, you don't need an obligatory "i'm alive" post. I paid the premium because I didn't want to have to worry about the group buy organizer, a la Ragin.

Thank god I'm not the only one.  I thought we were being overrun by mobs with pitchforks.  Smiley
440  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 15, 2013, 02:44:55 PM
Or maybe he is trying to set these things up but has nothing concrete yet. I feel like these demands for steamboat updates stem from an erosion of trust in steamboat.  I feel like this is extremely unwarranted and the erosion of trust is actually backlash from anger at Yifu.  Give steamboat a chance to get things figured out.

Well, take a wild guess on where that erosion in trust mostly stems from? From him not speaking up. Even if he's achieving nothing, just a minor message every day with "i tried x and y but to no avail, sorry guys talk to you tomorrow" would reinstate a lot of the trust in him. Even if it's not providing any progress, he should keep us in the loop.

Right now, it just seems as if he has his money safe already, and doesn't want to deal with his (rightfully) dissatisfied customers. It seems as if he doesn't want to respond to people asking refunds, asking for him to take action (= work while his salary is already safe anyway, why do that, eh?), asking him to just reply to some simple messages.

He should take an example to Zefir and SebastianJu, who are actively keeping their customers up-to-date, even if there's no progress.

And seriously, do you not agree that for a salary of 48.000 USD for a few months work, this 'work' encompasses at least:

- Responding to your customers' emails
- Responding to your customers' personal messages
- Addressing the growing list of concerns being posted in your topic

If you're okay with somebody doing absolutely fuckall while gettin a lot of money as a salary, well then sorry to say it, but I find you deluded as fuck.

I'm not okay with any of your assertions.  I just find it better to have some kind of evidence that "fuckall is being done" before jumping to conclusions.  Do you have any idea what is going on?  Then why assume the worst?  You have NO CLUE what Steamboat is doing, so you automatically assume he's doing nothing?  Poor form, my friend.  How do you know he's not so busy trying to figure out a solution that he doesn't have time to address every person's concerns?  Most people's concerns right now are a direct result of Yifu not supplying enough information.  Transferring the questions Yifu is not answering to Steamboat, and then getting upset when Steamboat doesn't answer them is deflection.  Stop it.
