421  Economy / Economics / Re: Cash is best for anonymity? on: March 04, 2018, 05:43:07 AM
Cash is still being the best way if you want to make anonymous payments. Do you agree with it?
Also 85% of transactions are currently in cash.
What do you think about cash on blockchain, backed by gold ( https://goldencurrency.world )?
It is best for the small transactions but how about the transaction in millions you can't transfer big amount via cash,if you do you will be taxed but in bitcoin there is no tax no problem you just need the sender address then you can able to send anywhere in the world.
Still, you will be taxed when you started converting millions of bitcoin into fiat so no matter what option, you will be taxed. Cash really is the best way to make anonymous payments in daily life and in small scale since it doesn't keep record. Unlike on bitcoin, every transactions are recorded in blockchain. You will stay anonymous though so long as no one knows that you own that particular address. This being said, there is no such thing as a currency that grants full anonymity as they have flaws in them.
422  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin making it! It broke the 11,000 ceiling heading for 12k! on: March 04, 2018, 04:34:08 AM
is that legit info? about bank in US and UK accepted crypto?? as we know, the problem is from them. for me, bitcoin reach 15k$ is easy, but it depend from us, can we make it come true or just dream..
I think it ain't a legit information since they consider it as a business risk in US' case but is OP talking about the news in coindesk about UK bank HSBC piloting live blockchain payments? If that is the case, then it isn't a fact yet as they are only planning on doing it. Here are the sources if you want to check it out: https://www.coindesk.com/uk-bank-hsbc-might-soon-pilot-live-blockchain-payments/

423  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: need help on: March 03, 2018, 11:01:35 PM
How much merit do you need to become full member?
One needs 100 merit in order to become full member. To become member one needs 10 merits. So OP needs to get 10 merits first in order to rank up to member, and then 100 merits in order to proceed through the next rank. In order to do that, he only needs to post quality post and post that are helpful to other members, I also suggest him to explore other sections of the forum so that he will learn more to improve his post quality.
424  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet security settings on: March 02, 2018, 11:56:00 PM
Hello everyone.

I would like to know how to secure my wallet. Could you share some best practices?

Thanks!  Smiley
First of all what type of wallet are you using? If you are using web wallet,  follow LADIDAZ's tip to strengthen your password. If your wallet is a desktop wallet, install a good antivirus and always be careful on what you click on the internet, better yet use another desktop for daily use. If it is a hardware wallet, then you are good to go since it is already secure. You can also follow the tip of LADIDAZ to create an offline wallet.
425  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Types of wallets. Which one's the best? on: March 02, 2018, 10:43:01 PM
Hello guys.

I've been reading a lot about crypto these days and there is one thing that always pops up: wallet security. As far as I know, there three types of wallet: desktop wallet, webwallet and external wallet (Trezor and the like). What are the differences between them? Which one is better security-wise?

Thanks!  Smiley
If we are talking about security, trezor, nano ledger s, and the likes are the best wallet to use if it is for holding since it is  very securebut they can't be classified as the most convenient wallet to use when one is doing transactions daily in his wallet. If it is for daily usage, I recommend desktop wallets as they have more security than web wallet and also security wise althiugh they are less secure than hardware wallets.
426  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Diversity or Limit how many you use? on: March 02, 2018, 02:51:13 PM
Hi guys, I'm new to this and I'm just trying to get some research to make sure I don't end up tossing money away then, decide to jump off a building with a cinder block aorund my neck. So I understand a diverse portfolio is great, but how diverse should it be? 1-3? Or should I just indulge in my comfort limits? Any advice would help. Thanks in advance!
It is up to you. The diversification of your portfolio depends solely on you, as an investor. If you want 3 coins to invest your money, then feel free to do so, It is still a diversified investment. It depends to your ability to hodl a coin but If I were you I would hold at least 5 altcoins. If you don't want to end up tossing money away, research then do invest after if you are satisfied from the results.
427  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bounty on: March 02, 2018, 12:42:36 PM
hello, I want to know from people who have been working in bounty projects for a long time. how quickly and effectively to gain a lot of subscribers in social networks.
If it is on twitter some people tends to follow back when you follow them, but I don't know any other ways to gain subscribers and followers since I am not that fond of social media campaigns.
And with how many subscribers does it cost to work in the bounty?  Huh
It depends on the campaign you want to join, it should be stated on their bounty thread. You can earn some altcoins via social media campaigns with as little as 100-200 followers and above sometimes.
428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Investment advice for 1 year. x10 or x100 ;D on: March 01, 2018, 11:43:34 AM
Hello everybody!

I set up this topic to consult on investment and keep within 1 year!
My current investment list is as follows:
+ (Low risk) 45% of total investment to buy coin marketcap top 10 (BTC, ETH, NEO...)
+ (Medium risk) 35% of total investment to buy coin marketcap from 10 to 70 (XVG, NANO, ICX, PIVX...)
- (High risk) 15% of total investment to buy coin marketcap from 70 to 300 (INS, PRL, GTC...)
- (most risky) 5% of total investment to buy coin marketcap from 300 to 1000 (SPF, ESP, ZOIN... )

Let me know your comment?
Thank for all!
I think your setup is okay but you need to decrease your percentage on low and medium risk investments at least 5% each, then allocate it into investing onto other coins(ICO's) which have a lot of potential for success. They are the ones who is very likely to give you 10X or X100 return but to be on the safe side, also invest in your planned diversification of your capital. Just be sure to sell on time and don't hold a coin for too long. As soon as you see a good exit point, remember to sell at least a percent or more.
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Reason why you need to consider investing in ethereum rather than bitcoin!!! on: March 01, 2018, 11:14:17 AM
Consider the fact that ether handles more transactions than all other blockchains combined!
Oh really, you are referring to all other blockchains combined and that includes bitcoin? Are you sure? You might want to restate your statement here. IMO bitcoin handles more transactions than eth.
We are still in the early stages of crypto, Though  the price of bitcoin will likely rise as well, but ether seems much more promising  to become the crypto crown in the nearest future. Some conservative predictions have ether hitting a 1 trillion market cap by 2020. Wink Wink Wink
That will be the case if ether continues to be the main platform for ICO's. But if it is dethroned by something better than it, then it won't hit a 1 trillion market cap. Still, I don't think that eth will dethrone bitcoin and steal it's crown. It can always be 2nd or 3rd place though.

You first posted this: https://imgur.com/a/lDavH

And edited that beatiful girl picture to this: https://i.imgur.com/KPY8rKg.jpg

A beautiful girl and a curtain rail... I'm curious to see what this will lead.

can't understand why i can't upload and see my images?

Wrong formatting maybe? I'll check it out... Let me try this...

As far as I know newbies aren't allowed to post images here in bitcointalk forum, that's why he can only see link in his post rather than images. Although that is the case, there is an option wherein a newbie will be allowed to have that privilege but he has to pay. After that, he will become a copper member, able to post images here in the forum. OP should refer into meta about this, there are detailed guide on how to be one there.
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will investing $10,000 in ETH and hodling make me rich by next year? on: February 28, 2018, 12:57:29 PM
If I invest $10,000 in ETH and hodl for 1 year...will I be rich? Just curious  Wink
It depends on how it's price will move but it is very likely that you will not be reach after holding that for 1 year, I think crazy price movements will not be seen for a while. Still it is a good investment but If that was your whole stash then I recommend you not to put it all in ETH. That way, there are more chances for profit, and you won't regret your decision if ever ETH goes sideways for one whole year.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC or ETH? on: February 28, 2018, 12:25:01 PM
Which should I invest in, that potentially has more growth? I know this really isn't able to be given a direct answers, but what's everyones opinion and why are they different?

To me it seems more people are interested in ETH, over LTC which seems to be the case. More investors equals more interest, and a better growth.

The current issue with Litepay has kind of turned me off of LTC, but if things work out that seems like it could be a good spike in growth as well.
The issue has been resolved and if I were you i wouldn't pick either. Instead, I would diversify and choose both. I will only divide the money I planned to invest into one of them into two to buy both coins. IMO they both have a lot of potential specially LTC, which has been stable in a low price for quite a while and ETH who is cheaper now when compared to it's past prices. They are both coins good for long term hodl but if you are only in for short term, choose ETH as it is more volatile than LTC.
433  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency pulls country our of tailspin on: February 28, 2018, 11:53:35 AM
We have no evidence that they've raised $735 million. Their coin is not trading on any exchange.

Meanwhile Maduro's thugs are arresting people who are doing bitcoin mining and stealing their equipment and their coins. This is hardly the action of a country that supports cryptocurrency.

Right and i just read that he got 33% from bitcoin alone. LOL. That's why I really doubt what's his real intentions are. I wouldn't invest on such coin. There too much question surrounding the man. Is he really trying to circumvent and used it a backdoor to US led sanctions? Or are there more compelling reasons? He should deal with the deal with the current economic, political and financial issues of his country. Or better yet, he must step down and concede that the populace deserves better and not using 'petro' cryptocurrency as reasons for him to cling to the power.

We have no evidence that they've raised $735 million. Their coin is not trading on any exchange.

And for the most part, Venezuela using bitcoin to buy outside just in order to survived. He is a cancer to the society, and he should really step down for the sake of his country and the people.
What you said is too much but I agree that he should step down for the sake of his country. That lunatic president have a shady reasons as to why he started cryptocurrency. I think it is lunacy for them to buy outside in order to survive. There are more effective methods to improve venezuela's economic state than cryptocurrency. He should have had focused on multiplying jobs available in their country via foreign investments or a campaign urging those with money to start business of their own to help boost their economy.
434  Economy / Economics / Re: There's a new economy growing on this forum - Merit on: February 28, 2018, 11:21:42 AM
Yes, there will be flaws in every system and people will find a way on how to abuse it. But, I believe that the moderators of this forum have already action plans before this system is implemented.
There are already actions on the move to prevent those kinds of people to abuse the merit system. We can see in meta section that there are those threads where users report abusers. When a default trust member sees that topic and has proven that the accused is really abusing the merit system, they will get a red trust from them. I think it is enough action in order to punish them.
435  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto in "real" world: search for statistics or survey on: February 27, 2018, 01:07:44 PM
Because most of the companies in the crypto space are private (in other words they arn't listed on any stock exchange), they keep this sort of information secret.

We know that in December that Coinbase was getting about 1 million new sign ups a week, but when then press started quoting them, they removed the stats from their website.

I guess you could do some digging into companies like Overstock which have enabled payment by cryptocurrency. They are publicly listed, so somewhere in their accounts will be a statement about sales through bitcoin.
You are right. OP should also do some digging into payment processors that lets crypto's be used in real world transactions. I don't think statement about sales through bitcoin will satisfy what he is looking for since it will only detail transaction volume of bitcoin in the real world. Still, It would get him roughly an estimate on the volume so if it is fine to just get an estimate of the volume and not the precise value, Just follow the advice quoted above OP.
436  Economy / Economics / Re: How justified will it be to use a blockchain without a cryptocurrency? on: February 27, 2018, 12:25:57 PM
There are a lot of potential uses for the blockchain, and we are just exploring them.
There are application in properties, in real estate, in keeping trace of works and school titles, ecc.
So, we'll see.
You are right but will we ever see someone using blockchain without involving cryptocurrency? I think for now selected few will think of doing so as it can be inconvenient to use blockchain without crypto. That being said, I am excited to hear news about blockchain being used without cryptocurrency since that is one milestone for it. Still, I prefer if those who wants to harness the blockchain tech uses cryptocurrency as well.
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Post Bank of Iran Is Working on a National Cryptocurrency on: February 27, 2018, 11:43:03 AM
Who on the earth want "national crypocurrency"? It's the opposite of what Bitcoin trying to achieve.
The answer to that question can be seen clearly. It is a well known fact that government doesn't like anything that cannot be controlled, so they made a national cryptocurrency in order to harness blockchain technology without using decentralized cryptocurrencies. In short, they want to use a cryptocurrency that is not decentralized in order for them to have control over it.
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you had to choose on: February 27, 2018, 11:09:50 AM
Which one would you pick for long term investment?

If I were you I wouldn't pick any of it for long term investment, I would diversify my investments into them. Although that is the case, when I have low crypto investment and I can only buy one coin, I would buy spectrecoin among the choices. Still, I think those in the top 100 in market cap are the safer bets in terms of long term investment since most of them are sure to last for quite a while.
439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bought lots of coins before knowing what they do... what do i do now? on: February 26, 2018, 02:02:48 PM
Hi all! when i just got into crypto, it was december and i was a noob.. i made the mistake of buying lots of coins as per my friend's recommendation and i put my entire life savings in.. as per my friends' recommendation too. it turns out he was a really bad friend and gave me all the wrong advice to watch me crash and burn.. now my profile is more red than ever. Since then, i have focused all my free time on trying to learn and share what i have learnt with the community. right now, i m pretty much stuck with a -80% portfolio.. What do i do??? =( while i have made progress in my knowledge in crpyto, my portfolio is set in stone.... and getting more and more red as the days go by
That is the worst thing one can do as a crypto investor. You should have had done some research first and should have had not trusted your friend. Can I just ask what coins are you holding anyway? Are they some kind of random shitcoin your friend has recommended? If it is, then don't mind selling at a loss if you are badly in need of money. If not, then follow FaucetKING's advice. My tip might change if I know what kind of coins do you have in your portfolio.
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What crypto has done for me! on: February 26, 2018, 12:33:00 PM
Crypto has done some amazing things, from buying fish 'n' chips to buying a holiday abroad, while my machines are ROI-ing, my wife has a very average wage, she is surprised with what money has come out of this entire thing, this new scene.

https://youtu.be/rB9uyfbg1Ao
If that is the case then it is good. I think most of us here in bitcointalk have experienced similar things(which is the improvement of our lives via cryptocurrency). For most of us, it brought financial freedom and for some of us, extra income. Just remember to also reinvest on another opportunities, not just cryptocurrency for more financial security and for your money to not just sit around. Let your money work for you.
