421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Ethereum] 32 mh/s but miner keeps skipping jobs on: June 02, 2017, 01:13:10 PM
Sapphire R9 290X 4GB - Hynix RAM.
With stock settings, I get about 29.5 Mh/s, but if I bump the GPU clock on 1100, I get 32-33 Mh/s
Either way, it seems that both settings yield poor results.
Those are amazing results bro, thats as good as it gets for Eth mining. Is your 290x already modded with theStilts memory straps??? Because I do not think any 290x would hit 29mh/s without custom straps.

Quote
When mining doge coin, each "job" would always be "found", but with Ethereum, I get around 4 shares found for every 10 mins.
Is this right? What do you guys think?
Different crypto-currencies are not apples to apples comparisons ever. The rate of shares you get is perfectly normal for Ethereum.
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 5 or 6 GPU Motherboard Alternative to H81 BTC Pro and ASROCK Anniversary Edition on: June 01, 2017, 08:47:39 AM
Could we make a list what motherboards all work with 5-6 cards with socket 1051? I am having trouble finding 1050 boards. I ordered kinda the last one. If I want to order now I am paying over 170 euros a motherboard.

The new biostars are not really getting sold here but I could order them online if amazon starts selling them. Not in a hurry yet but would like to get 1 or 2 like when vega releases.

Socket 1051??? When did that come out?

And 1050 boards? In 2017? Why?

Wtf i didn't do anything! Here is my new account and F.Y.I i am not indian or something!

The FUCK is that supposed to mean?
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: May 29, 2017, 03:21:07 PM

Sorry if I jumped to conclusion before considering some other facts, but in the end, losing Hashpower and maybe Wattage control, is a problem.
I didn't knew that this OS is for people needed to manage big rig setups. I thought it was also for the rest of us, since most people with large number of rigs would have their own implementations.

So please tell me why was I TOTALY wrong again?

There's a hint in the name - SimpleMiningOS. Its plug and play, and offers a simple solution to people who do not want to get into the nitty grittys or tweak a lot, and simply want to get a few rigs online.
Also, its been free since inception about 3 months ago, and even though tytanik has declared a fee its still not being charged. Even when it will get charged, itll still be less than the % you give off to claymore for using his miner.

So yeah, Totally wrong for assuming this was a tinkerers OS, this is the SIMPLE Mining OS.
425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: May 29, 2017, 01:48:42 PM
The option to OC each card is probably the most important thing for mixed card setups.
Since the mining revolution started again, last month, almost everyone is trying to buy 470s/480s and frankenriging with whatever card is available in the market.
I managed to get all of my six 470s from Amazon and Modded them according to their memory manufacturer.
As long as I was using windows I could OC them differently, to get each card's best stable Undervolt and Memory OC all in one mobo.
Last weekend I tried using simplemining.
But I managed only to use my 2 MSI's or my 2 Sapphire Reference. If I try to use all 6 of them, I must apply the lower acceptable OC/Powerlimit settings in order for the weakest card to not crash, but that will lower my Hashrate by +35Mhs

So By using windows and MSI AB I could do the following

3x Ref Sapphire 470 4Gb @ 1168/2000 86Mh/s (28.6 per card) 160W
2x MSI Gaming X 470 8Gb @1168/1900 53.81Mh/s (26.9 per card) 140W
1x Asus Expedition 570 4Gb @ 1100/1850 25.6Mh/s 80W
1x XFX 470 4Gb @ 1168/2000 28Mhs 75W

The sum is 193.41Mhs 455W

With simplemining I would have to go with all the cards @1100/1850 and 26Mh/s per card for a sum of 156Mh/s
Thats unacceptable for any real mining profit.

Now, I know a "real" miner would have bought all 6 cards from one manufacturer, but that's not a reason for not implementing such a feature in a mining OS.

Anyway, that's my opinion and I could be totally wrong.

For the time being I am using 3 different mobos to mine with 2 x simplemining and 1 windows.

SO many things that I could point out here ...

193mh/s at 455W? That's impossible even if its just the GPU-z readings that you are accounting for (actual power draw is about 40% higher than GPUz readings).

7 X 26 = 182 so if on simplemining you are getting 156, one of your cards isnt working.

If you had ever used Linux and tried to tweak graphics cards settings like clocks or volts you would know why such a "feature" wasn't implemented. AMD linux drivers do not allow for such tweaks, unlike their windows drivers. Be thankful you get any tweakability at all, its quite a nifty trick that allows you to do it on SmOS or EthOS and is through implimenting a tool developed by one of the resident geniuses on this forum.

Also solutions like simplemining are for people who need to manage a large number of rigs, nothing could come close to the individual tweakability that Windows 10 offers.

So, yeah, good that you are open about the possibility of being totally wrong, coz you are.
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashrate RX 470 on: May 29, 2017, 09:14:00 AM
Got some RX470 4G Nitro+ with Elpida memory on 'em.

strapped 1500 all the way to 2000. The max I can overclock the memory is around 1850-1875. Above that, memory errors will start to show in hwinfo. Not sure why everyone is saying Elpida is great tbh. With hynix memory I can O/C the memory past 2000 without any hardware errors.

Quite disappointed with those Elpidas :-/

In practice some memory errors aren't a deal breaker. I run my Elpida's at 1925 and though they do generate some memory errors in HWMonitor, they hash just fine, and pool rate matches reported. And they are just a notch below my Hynix cards in terms of overclockability, and still better than samsungs.

These look fantastic!

840W for Ethash? custom bios? downclocked?

Yes, yes and yes Smiley

Share some details on the bios and clock settings?

Yes please always interested in these Smiley

Bios Strap : Custom Hynix Strap (search the forums for it)
Clocks/Volts : 1075/900
Mem/Volts : 1900/900
Total Eth hash : 193mh/s

Cases have cooling issues though, have ordered higher CFM Delta fans.

Allright, after a long process of prototyping and working with different materials, I finally have my own compact 7 card cases ready

Cold Rolled Carbon Steel 0.8mm with a 0.6mm thick sheet, all powder coated and heat treated, and I love them in Black.

Configuration as pictured above :

MSI Gaming 5 Z97 motherboards
Intel G3250 CPU
DDR 3 4GB Ram
64GB SSD
Corsair RM1000X PSu
and 7 X HIS RX470 4GB cards

Now ill admit, HIS aren't the best cards out there, but the Blue LED's on them go well with the Red's on my MSI motherboards.
Also unlike Sapphire which has all kinds of different memory complicating things, all HIS cards are Hynix only.

7 rx 470 4gb woth 1000power supply are you seriously ?

840W from the wall, so, yeah. I also run 8 x GTX 1060 off of one 1000W PSU. Underclock and Undervolt and you can too.
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.5 (Windows/Linux) on: May 26, 2017, 06:34:51 PM
12.5 is a slap in the face  with a big F U to those saying he's not releasing new versions and to lower his fee

The only people that deserve a slap in the face are entitled people like you bitching about software you didnt code or pay up front for. If you dont like the devfee its really simple, dont use it. Dont expect him to remove the fee just because a few cheapskates are whining about it.

Ummm ... bro ... I think he was saying exactly what you are saying.
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.5 (Windows/Linux) on: May 25, 2017, 07:52:29 AM
@ Wolf0
Would not it be possible to improve eth?
Have some pool that are not connecting
About ZCash
What defines its performance because NVIDIA is much better than AMD in that currency?

Eth miner can be improved past Claymore's AMD GCN ASM Ethash kernel. First, you need to make the damn thing stable, though - he seemed to see others using ASM, and decided to himself... but raw speed matters little if the GPUs/rigs keep dropping like flies. THEN focus on speed.

Whats not stable about CM miner?
You mean it should work better on OCed (pushed to the edge) rigs?
Asking, cause I dont have any problems on my hardware, but I am running mods + underclock + undervolt.

Can second that. Obsessed with efficiency, I run all my cards, even Nitro+ versions, at ~ 26.5 mh/s and they have been rock stable for months across several versions of claymores.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.4 (Windows/Linux) on: May 23, 2017, 04:31:08 PM
@claymore  time to lower the fee? Don't be greedy. You know is very easy to write code to bypass your fee system.....

Yeah, threaten the guy making shit you use... and who has little reason to continue because he probably makes more in a month than you ever will.

Do you think before you post, or do you have some kind of brain interface that just spills the shit that goes through your mind?

making $100k a day is not a fair payment for a quality software. I believe quality software should be paid for. I don't be believe in open source crappy software. As a software developer I like to be paid for my time. I pay the software I use. I don't hack software to avoid payment. I don't use hacked software. We all call Microsoft greedy. We all call Apple greedy. How can you not call someone working out of his garage greedy? ZEC is marching towards being in par with BTC, it wil only take a couple more banks giving the seal of approval to the technology. So is only fair to lower the fee to be in par with the pools or he may find himself having to fight with a first year college kid writing a proxy server to bypass his fees and making the software available to the general public

If you really take issue with it - make another miner (preferably closed source to not leak ideas he could use) - which is good enough to cause his users to move to yours...

That's how you do it. Making something available to bypass his fee (or threatening to) is below the belt. You just don't do it.

Don't bother with him. Whiners aren't doers.

Mouser has them.  I just had to make a repair like that on one of my B1's.  FYI it's a total whore to fix, take your time.

were you using the POS  oem psu?

yep they seem pretty decent but I can see where it would be the PSU.  I have 36 of them and thats the first I have seen ant it was a 90 degree day

my guess is you will see more meltdowns as it gets hotter.

it is the two split cables  meaning 5 cables not 7   and they seem to be 18 gauge not 16.

Umm... Bad cables would cause cables to melt, not the connectors. This is more likely due to the plugs used on the cables being bad quality.
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.3 (Windows/Linux) on: May 22, 2017, 06:20:29 AM
The miner progressively shows/detects less and less memory for detected GPUs
When the miner starts it shows 8148 MB for each card, and it goes all the way down to 1000 MB per card. This can happen in an hour or in 12 hours. Stopping and restarting the miner fixes the problem.

OS: Ubuntu 16.04.1
AMD drivers: 16.30
All cards are ASUS ROG STRIX-RX480-8G-GAMING

Has anyone else experienced this?
@Claymore: Could it be that you are not releasing GPU memory between internal miner restarts?

Memleak when it fucks up. Then it restarts itself to hog more memory with the second copy of the DAG.

yes, definitely sounds like a memory leak to me.

grab some paper towels and check your motherboard/ram slots particularly, hopefully its not so bad that you are leaking underneath the rig too.

once i had stacked a couple rigs, like bunk beds you know.. so i could utilize the same 24" box fan for 14 gpu's.. and the top rig memory leaked all over the rig underneath it.. huge mess.

who would have thought all that fluid fits in such small semiconductors?

man i wish ram just ran on smoke like cpu's do..

Umm ... thats not what Wolf0 was referring to, memory leak means the program is unable to release memory it no longer is using causing memory usage to spike way above usual levels.
What you are talking about is thermal compound leaking oil or something.
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7 GPU and 6 GPU motherboards on: May 22, 2017, 06:18:00 AM
What about the z270-a?  I have one on the way and thought it could handle 7 under windows.....anyone?

If you have one on the way, let us know after testing.
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS Prime Z270-A on: May 21, 2017, 09:45:52 PM
Im using several Asus Z270f boards with 7 cards each, without a hiccup. Just turn on above 4G decoding, put all pcie to gen1 and disable everything you arent using.
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7 GPU and 6 GPU motherboards on: May 21, 2017, 09:44:26 PM
hello,

did anyone try z270 boards with a recent driver?

i would like to know if z270 mainboards support 6 gpus, most answers say it works with more than 5 gpus only with 16.6 or older drivers. so it cannot run 6 RX 570 / RX 580

can anyone confirm this?

thanks!

That is not due to the boards being a problem, its a problem with AMD Drivers that will not allow more than 5 cards.

As for boards, the Asus Z270f supports 7 cards out of the box. And the Asus Z270-p can run upto 10 under linux with pci-e extenders.
439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Throwback Thursday on: May 20, 2017, 06:57:11 PM
Those aren't Nitro+, just plain old crappy Nitro's.

Also, You can still buy them where I live, nobody wants them.
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Data Center Mining Garage and Man Mining Cave ( PART 2 !!!!!!!!) on: May 12, 2017, 01:00:40 PM
messy . . . inventory count & lots of more other stuffs to. much to do, sleep is a luxury to me now !

finally, 2 samples of mobo arrived, yet to be tested . . . 6 x pcie hehehe price is about the same as tb85 (prices of tb85 has shot up !) some teaser pix

as you can see, it's smaller than biostar tb85

I see you have stumbled upon the Chinese OEM mining boards. There are ones that have 6 x PCIE16 slots as well.
