4201  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Australian man charge over his involvement in Bitconnect scam on: November 18, 2020, 09:22:40 PM
^ It is really a nice shot for the Australian government because they have shown to everyone that their law and jurisdiction also covers the cryptocurrency world. On the news regarding Bigatton, this will definitely threaten other crypto scammers that in no time they will still be accountable for all fraudulent activities that they made in the past which could possibly lead them into jail as well.

I'm expecting Australian, similar to the US to be tougher for crypto or cyber threat criminals. They are really very active in that region so I would say that I'm not surprised that they put a heavy jail term and penalty for this guy. And since they embrace crypto already in 2017, they really have to send message not to mess with them or at least for Australian citizen to stay away from scamming crypto investors.

BitConnect now there goes a name we dont hear about too often. They will always forever go down in Crypto history as biggest scam ever.

This man got what he deserved.  Those penalties of 10 years and AU$945,000 are not to take lightly.  I still cannot believe that BitConnect was worth $2.5b just 3 years ago.

True, the biggest scams ever, and even if this community has been calling out Bitconnect as a scam that will fall down, not sure if someone listens. Any way, we have learn our lessons for the Bitconnect scandal and everyone involved should get what they deserved for pulling out the biggest scams in crypto.
4202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After Kucoin Hackers on OUSD... on: November 18, 2020, 08:51:08 PM
I have this thread that covers the OUSD: Another Defi Hack: Origin Dollar Loses $7 million.

Kucoin is different though, it is an exchange and not about Defi. If you wanted to see, DeFi hacks [history] by zazad@.

The thing with this Defi is that there are a lot of loopholes and exploits that the hackers can go after because the code is simply weak, programmers never test it, third party can't find a bug until it's too late.

So lessons here is that everyone should be very careful, once they they hack, your money is gone and I don't think the project can cover it or at least 50% of the money lost is insured.
4203  Economy / Speculation / Re: Congrats to everyone for reaching $20k again. on: November 18, 2020, 12:00:28 PM
I'm just opening the post in advance.

It's been a long time HODLing, not selling a dime.

It's been worth it.

Cheers guys!

Smiley

Well it took three years though, that is, if wise investors, started in 2018 to accumulate and up to the March 2020. But don't get exciting or something, still a long way to go before we can reach $20k. The price won't go on parabolic rise, we might see more bumpier road ahead as we inch closer to $20k.

So there's still that mental toughness, more of them that we need, what if the price goes to $20k, gonna sell or what? Or would rather hold till we see new all-time-highs in the $30k-$50k? So there's no time to celebrate really and it's too early to get thrilled.
4204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: November 18, 2020, 11:26:59 AM
Harden indeed wants to chase a ring. Turning down a $50m/year contract means too obvious that he desperately needs to win a championship, and the focus was also obvious how serious and desperate he was on joining the Brooklyn Nets.
Well, If this happens, nobody can't deny they'll be an automatic NBA finals bound "IF" they stay healthy all throughout the regular and post season.

Imagine having Lakers - Nets finals in 2021. On one side LeBron-Davis-Kawhi and on the other side Harden-Durant-Irving.
I don't like teams getting 3 superstars but that's the usual basketball after 2010's. If we have to see big teams face each other then this is the clash I'd like to see in NBA.

The question there is team chemistry since we cannot really say that it's a sure win for them or it's a sure final appearance if they take more superstar in their team, harden and durant are ball hogs so provably there's a big adjustment for them before we can see that game will happen in the finals.

Durant is not, he plays with what is the team's play, I don't know about Harden, but one thing I can say is that Durant is a good teammate as he won 2 championship with the GSW and he was the finals MVP that time if I'm not mistaken.

It's because Steph Curry let Durant to lead the team, why Harden, we don't know if he can play second fiddle to Durant or even Irving. And we all know that Harden, as much as he is a good player and scorer, most of the time he doesn't work with other superstar in the team, i.e. CP3 or Westbrook.

And I'm sure that Durant will be the main point man for the Nets once he got back playing, so the adjustment is more on Harden. Will he developed to a different player when and if he goes to the Nets and let Durant take over?

I just look at the current price and it seems the pump is over:

https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/frontier

Lol, that's the nature of crypto though, it will be pump once there is a news coming from Binance like this, I do hope that there are traders here who join the bandwagon early and made profit out of this pump.

Personally, I late though, I just got this news from one of my Twitter group, unfortunately, didn't see it in time. But let's see, maybe there is a second wave of pump for all we know.
4206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proof - The long Hodl on: November 17, 2020, 11:28:35 PM
I was already in the crypto sphere during the last run to ATH in 2017, but I would admit that I didn't hold, at least a good six months hold that time will yield you good enough profits. And I would say that it is really inexperience in my part by then.

But from 2018 up to now, been accumulating quietly and not going to sell, or at least if I'm going to sell it, I will be a looking at a new all time high price again. Never too late to learn from our past mistakes in bitcoin holding and investing and there are no better strategy but to HODL and continue to buy if you have still the money. At $17,500? yeah it's expensive, but what if it double in the next bull run?
4207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Cash ABC (BCHA) dead? on: November 17, 2020, 10:37:27 PM
Price of BCHA now up to $20, gaining 70% over the last 24 hours. This coin still has some life in it. For as much preparation and time Sechet committed into the new BCHA, he's not prepared to just abandon it all. Looks like BCHA will be coming into its own -- not sure who's going to use it, or for what, though.

Or just another pump and dump before eventually folding up, just trying to squeeze as much profit for some. And if in any case it didn't die a natural death, it will be just another coin clogging the crypto market with no use at all except to be taken advantage by trading signal group for their pump and dump scheme.

And for those investors, time to think about it, much better if you are going to sell off and move to the majority chain.
4208  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will be hitting to $35000 soon - Buy it today!! on: November 17, 2020, 09:55:56 PM
Its been three years since we hit the peak and maybe that’s already enough time to create a new peak which is possible to happen this year until next year. Many are very bullish with bitcoin so holders must be more patience now that we have a chance to create a new peak, let’s give hope to many and this bull market will finally happen.
We are getting closer to our goal, now bitcoin is above 17k and it seems very comfortable in that position, the dream of a new ATH is closer than at any other moment and I do not think bullish investors are going to let go of their coins now, this is the moment they have been expecting for 3 years and finally it seems bitcoin is ready to reach a new ATH, I just hope that it happens as soon as possible since it will become news all over the world, and once bitcoin finally surpass its previous ATH no one really knows how high it could go.

Yes, I was so amazed by the price movement today, above $17k this November? More than we can ask for. Of course, we are looking at the a new all time high, and most analyst says it could happen in 2021. But as this point and at this price we may have move so early that probably next month we might hit $20k.

So let's hope that this bull run will continue, and it eventually a new all time high is set, be it $35k or more, everyone will be reminiscing the 2017 bull run wherein we make a lot of money, not just bitcoin but also altcoins as well.
4209  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price to reach $17k? on: November 17, 2020, 01:34:19 PM
Yeah, what's so scary about the down turn? this is just a normal correction. $17k was retested, just rejected, the price support at $16500 but then didn't hold goes down below $16k, that's how the market moves.

Scary is when the price goes down -60% last March and everyone has bitching around saying that bitcoin is dead, Lol. Much better to just stay relax and let the market goes on it's normal flow. We are not yet in the bull run that we are looking like the 2017, the four year cycle begins in 2021 so we have a lot of leg room to make for a new all time high next year.
I think the rejections at $ 17k are normal and this is just the start but bitcoin won't fall below $ 15k it will persist with the corrections.
But still looking at what situation will happen in the future, maybe 2021 is where the peak is and now the scenario that happens is not entirely that there will be a more severe decline.

It's not going to be down 60% it's more scary to happen but in this session we will see how people are wise in dealing with it knowing that this is a cycle that will happen in the following year.

We have official cross the $17k mark just now, so it's no longer a rejection but a test on that price.

So it we are going to look at 2021, most probably we won't see a decline but instead, we might try to get close to the last all time high we got. So let's see how are we going to do with $17k levels now. I'm expecting that it won't hold as this is another price wherein there could be some sell-off. But it will be just temporary though. In any case that we continue to push the price, most likely $18,300 will be another wall that we're going to hit.
4210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Injured and suspended players. Sites to check on: November 17, 2020, 11:43:32 AM
As far as I remember, @Pmalek is Looking: Sources that show information about suspended/injured missing players.

Maybe your thread can help him out and many gamblers who are looking for this info. Although this seems to be all football related.

But I guess this is a good start, and probably we can expand it from here to include other sports as well.
4211  Bitcoin / Legal / Australian man charge over his involvement in Bitconnect scam on: November 17, 2020, 09:57:04 AM
Quote
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has announced the former Australian promoter of BitConnect has been charged for his involvement in the folded cryptocurrency project that was accused of scamming millions out of investors.

ASIC said John Louis Anthony Bigatton promoted the cryptocurrency platform before its collapse in early 2018, alleging the man from Carss Park in NSW was the Australian national promoter of Bitconnect from around 14 August 2017 to 18 January 2018.

ASIC alleges Bigatton operated an unregistered managed investment scheme, known as the BitConnect Lending Platform, in Australia and that he provided unlicensed financial advice on behalf of another person in, amongst other things, seminars he conducted at various locations around Australia.

https://www.zdnet.com/article/aussie-bitconnect-promoter-charged-over-his-involvement-with-alleged-crypto-scam/

It's good to see that those behind this crypto scam are now being charge. And it seems that Bigatton really involved himself here, knowing or unknowingly part of the scam as he himself led seminars and mislead crypto investors that time.

It also says that in total of four charges against him, 10 years imprisonment and a fine of AU$945,000. Oh well, at least justice could be served here.
4212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Another Defi Hack: Origin Dollar Loses $7 million on: November 17, 2020, 09:01:27 AM

The Origin Dollar (OUSD) has been hacked. The team is all-hands on deck attempting to figure out what vulnerability was exploited and how the hacker was able to access users’ deposits. Expect an updated post within an hour.

This transaction seems to be the root of the attack:

https://etherscan.io/tx/0xe1c76241dda7c5fcf1988454c621142495640e708e3f8377982f55f8cf2a8401

At this time, there has been a loss of funds of around $7M, including over $1M of funds deposited by Origin and our founders and employees. We will be working tirelessly until we can determine the cause of the exploit and whether we will be able to recuperate these funds. We are very incentivized to give 1000% in resolving the issue in whatever way possible.

We have disabled deposits to the vault. Please do not buy OUSD on Uniswap or Sushiswap as the current prices do not reflect OUSD’s underlying assets.

This is a quickly moving process, and our entire team has been mobilized to tackle this crisis. We will be making frequent updates via our blog, Telegram, Twitter, and Discord. In times of crisis, it is important that we are fully transparent and accountable. We are ready to answer your questions.

At this time, we would like to extend our sincerest and deepest apologies to those early OUSD users that have deposited funds with us. We very much valued and appreciated your early bet on our new product, and we will work tirelessly to get to the bottom of this.

We are not going away. This is not a rug pull or internal scam. Despite this setback, it is very much in our intention to make OUSD a safe, secure, and successful product that builds on the broader Origin mission of peer-to-peer commerce. We are sorry for the events of today, and we will carry this burden forward to do better.

So unfortunate that this is the fourth hack of the month. The attack was thru "re-entrancy" bug, it was the some bug exploited by hacker during the DAO hack.

I don't know how long can we take this attack on this Defi hype, millions have already been lost to this criminals and obviously investors is on the losing end here.
4213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US stimulus package of $1,200 now worth $3,000 (Bitcoin store of value) on: November 17, 2020, 08:33:24 AM
They thought biden would save the economy and removed the lockdown that would rejuvenate the businesses, but its not really going to change anything. Biden is just repeating trumps previous decisions and soon they'll be massacre in middle east or US will declare war with some country to get their resources. Invest your money wisely into hedges such as BTC because the financial system is barely holding.

For the record though, that stimulus package was during Trump's administration, the second one that the OP is saying is not yet finalised as the Biden will take office next year.

I got a stimulus package from our government (not-US) and it's way way below the US is giving to its people. So obviously, I can't just invest it on BTC, however, I have some of my stash. But I don't know if I ever I got that kind of amount as stimulus package, I will readily invest it on BTC. Anyhow, good call by the OP and congrats. Just remain bullish  Smiley
4214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING ]: Fury vs Wilder III in Las Vegas on 18th July 2020 !!! on: November 17, 2020, 07:46:03 AM

So Fury will not be fighting for this year or next month, does it mean that they are waiting for the mediation/arbitration then?

And that a trilogy might be possible March 2021 again?

Although I want to see the trilogy with Wilder, I don't think his next opponent is him because they are so many demands from Wilder's side. We just need to wait for the official announcement of his next fight and I'm sure it is a worthy opponent than Wilder. This man is a living legend he doesn't need to prove to anyone how strong he is as he already proves it in their last two matches.

There could be many opponents, but are those better or at least in Wilder's league though? AJ is the most logical choice next, but what happens after that fight? No more challenges for Fury so it means no big pay check coming in. Have you heard of Agit Kabayel and Carlos Takam, the supposedly next opponent for him this coming December? (good that it didn't push through). So everyone will be tomato can opponents, that might hurt him in the long run, legacy wise.

So to cement his legacy further, he really needs to face Wilder once and for all and close the book and prove that he is the greatest Heavyweight of this generation or probably the best ever.
4215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: November 17, 2020, 06:36:46 AM
^^ Maybe they can co-exist like the Blazers, like Lillard and McCollum. Or Paul with handle the ball all the  time as their point guard and Booker as more on the scoring side and it will also take a lot from his shoulder the distribution load. So we might see Booker scoring advantage for next season increase by some margins. As compare to Harden and Westbrook who are pure scorer so it's really hard to put them on the same team.
For the suns to gamble in that trade, they really see something that could help their team, CP3 is not getting any younger while they release a young players in exchange for him. Suns is not going to be a shitty team no more, they have build their dou now with Paul and Booker, I'm hoping both of them will stay healthy so we can see their potential working together in the court.

I'm not sure about the contract of CP3, so I would agree that this is a big gamble for them, a healthy CP3 for 1-2 years will be enough to see where the Suns is going, as you have said, he is not getting any younger and another serious injury might end his career with the Suns.

And it's interesting how many players Phoenix let go just to get CP3, its a big risk but worth a try to see how they are going to compliment each other in the court.

The biggest crypto fund Grayscale Bitcoin Trust bought another 15 114 BTC last week and fund's crypto AUM is almost $10B with 506 000 BTC. In my opinion such BTC stockpiling can be dangerous like a 51% attack but I didn't find any information is Satoshi Nakomoto ever mentioned that.

Nah, 51% attack is different and shouldn't be equate to GrayScale having huge amount of BTC. I advise you to read the following threads to have a clearer picture of what a 51% attack is:

(a) How exactly would a 51% attack work?

4218  Economy / Speculation / Re: Biden's winning effect on the crypto market. on: November 16, 2020, 10:09:21 AM
We will see then as Biden Confirms Crypto-Savvy Gary Gensler Will Lead Financial Policy Transition Team.

Quote
A former chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Gensler was tapped to lead the agency review team for the Federal Reserve, banking and securities regulators, the Biden campaign formally announced Tuesday, following reports last week he was a contender.

As CFTC chairman, Gensler served as a key financial regulator for former President Barack Obama, spearheading new derivatives rules after the 2008 financial crisis. He also served in the Treasury Department during the Clinton administration.

Maybe he is pro-crypto, or maybe not, but what's important is that we have someone in the Whitehouse that really knows a thing or two about crypto so that's fair enough for us. And this is just the beginning, maybe we can see familiar names surrounding Joe Biden's presidency that might bring some fresh air to crypto market and might be the reason for a bull run in 2021.

I still remember this thread of yours as well: This Fake account., as someone impersonates your bitcointalk account with Coolcryptovator999.

And I think this is the first hint that scammers are already at you and they have been looking for this perfect opportunity to scam unsuspecting victims thru your username. It's too bad that someone can fallen for the trick, but let this be a lesson for everyone you be very careful and check everything first.
4220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we getting better over the years on: November 16, 2020, 07:52:21 AM
Are we getting better now after 10 years, after ten years there are still hacking going on, there are still many scam projects and the market is still volatile but on the lighter side the adoption is progressive, the market always recovers from any situation, and there are good project coming in.

I would say it's a combination of the three;

(a) we are investors have matured and not to fall for scam attempts

(b) on the other hand, scammers and cyber criminals grow as well and they become sophisticated in their attacks and billions worth of crypto have been lost

(c) we are closer to the global adoption that we all wanted, not just individuals but companies and even nations central bank are looking at crypto and blockchain technology.
