I have one machine with a blade running 4 degrees cooler than the other. I just opened it up and found that the outside heatsinks were a little on the loose side.  When I probed the r47s and the black chips above them,  I found the temps to be between 90F - 102F on the R47s and 93F to 111F on the black chips. I'll be trying heatsinks before too long.
Temps were coolest near the intake and warmest in the middle of the unit.

someone had posted before that little black chips above R47 are actual dc-dc converter chips.
are you planning to put small heat sinks on them?

This has proven to have no effect on hashrate. Multiple members, including myself, have attempted this in misguided attempts to address the issue.

looks more and more a question of luck you get a good one or you don't  .  my b4 do very well pushing  478gh at  237 clocks no drop off after 6 hours.  my b1 work best at 212 clocks   428 each

so  956gh vs 856gh   big difference.

my dragon miner is down I can not sign in to it.

I was up for about 32 days in a row but now I am down.  will send a pm

+1

Mine went offline 3 hours ago according to the pool

I think they are all down, did you sign up to move your miner to the new colo?

Maybe its started already.

I was in the professional center so I left it alone. figured if it is not broke don't fix it.  Just have the 1th machine  it was running so nice.

I will wait and see what he will do.  I never was billed for the june - july time period.  I will wait for that too.

This is the CHEAPEST deal around. Plus a FREE Month of Hosting which means NO ELECTRICITY COSTS! Whats not to love! (:

this is a good price.

what is the hosting fee after 1 month? $1.54 per day seems too low.

are you hosting on zencloud?

Undervolted two S1's last night once I got S3 online. I guess I did ok. I'm running these two on HP server power supply with breakout board. I have not checked power usage at wall yet.

Clocked @ 250 does that look about right?

the first s1 looks weak  you are missing hash or info   the hw is 5980  which is okay only if you have a  diffA over 500000

your stats page should list hw diffA and diffR

error rate = hw/diffA+ diffR      IIRC  so   I can't see your error rate.  my guess is that s-1 is not hitting on all asics  and has an x or 2 in the chain.  the other one is good.

Edit: the error rate is good.   I missed the small print of the time. a hw of 5980 in 18 hours is decent.

I still think one asic is an x the gh should be a little higher then 121  it should be like your other one 128

try changing to freq 275  to see what happens.  I think the 127 will jump to 140.  not too sure about the one at 121.

you may be able to do one at

 freq 250>> gh of 121-127

and one at  freq 275>>  gh of 140.

the weaker one may be what you can do at best.  the higher one can stand a bump to freq 275

42010  Economy / Computer hardware / I have 2 new batch 4 s-3s and a evga 1300 watt psu package deal. make offers on: August 02, 2014, 05:56:37 PM
My idea here is to take the unknown away for you.  So the ' will I get a good s-3 or a bad one ?' has been answered for you .

I have 4 now  2 run at 237 and do 475gh no issues.

The other 2 like 212 and do 430gh no issues.

If you buy from bitmaintech what will you get a 430 machine or a 475 machine.  the truth is you do not know.   and lets face it   950 gh at 730-745 watts vs 850 gh at  645-660 watts  will make a difference in profits.

So  my two are tested and run  at 475gh each  set to freq 237 using btcguild  and using the evga 1300 psu. So they are premium machines.

I am looking to gauge interest From the community.

Would  you be willing to pay at a premium for a know better hashrate.

 For that matter

what would you pay for a s-3  rated at 430gh  and 330 watts tested by me with an evga 1300 watt psu on btcguild

what would you pay for a s-3  rated at 475 gh and 365 watts  tested by me  with an evga 1300 watt psu on btcguild

here is the deal  I have 2 batch 4 s-3's and an evga 1300 psu.

I am offering a package deal  to lower 48 states only.  They will ship on thursday the 7th of Aug.

I have them in house. I will photo in about 10 minutes.

looking to see price offered since these over clock to freq 237 well

here they are running on ant monitor
feel free to comment make offers etc.

I will post undated numbers on the two premo machines in 1 day.

 2 units and psu

here is the gui for one of them

here is the gui for the second one

42012  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 02, 2014, 05:39:33 PM
Also, the primary reason why some machines work better than others, seems to be as stated by Bitmain, the DC/DC components not being quite being robust enough.  There was talk that sometimes manufactures will sometimes push chip tolerances, which appears to be the case with the S3.

Bitmain did offer a rebate on the first 3 batches, then corrected the specs and lowered the price on future batches.

Keep in mind that this is brand new, barely tested technology.  If your machines average 440GH/s +/-5% you should be happy.

yeah large variances abound form b1 to b4.

  my b4's are stable at 478+478 = 956  freq 237  power 700 watts  .732 watts a gh

my b1's are stable at 428+428 = 856   freq 212   power 656 watts  .766 watts a gh

I am lucky that the b'1s  are in a spot that running at lower freq was in my plan as sound and power use was limited.  (a friends office with power at an 84% discount)

For some  this big difference would be very annoying.

I believe I will order 2 more on weds or thur coming up. I think I will sell two on ebay along with an evga 1300 watt psu.
42013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My pool experience with cloud zenminer dot com on: August 02, 2014, 05:21:40 PM
how much does a antminer s3 give on btc guild ?

btc guild has ups and downs  due to pool luck.  but my totals have been

July 29th _____________> 0.00836575  first day partial BTCGuild
July 30th _____________> 0.01261531   "     "       "         "
July 31st _____________> 0.01237485   "     "       "         "

Aug  1st _____________> 0.01264922   "     "       "         "
Aug  2nd _____________>0.01262237   "    "       "          "

now that comes to about the same as

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty  says you should get  .01237

this is why I mentioned that buying the s-3 to be activated on aug 8th for 449 using the discount codes and a cc is the best deal they are offering today.

tomorrow who knows.    Today I know of no deal for an s-3 with a better price.  If someone has a better please post it  as maybe gaw/zen will match it.

have you heard any rewievs on the New miners that came out , like the Boulder. its like half of maintnance cost then the warmachine

new gear
no news
not sure  if they run to the power advertised.

have to say if the boulder runs that low it could be good.

also have to say  that the antminer s-3 deal I mentioned above is very low price.

I am looking to hedge risk and right now I am heavy on scrypt and lite on  btc.  But a boulder on a good sale tempts me.

Hi!

Im a new miner from Spain, Barcelona. Best regards for all! Smiley

I have two questions. I hope you can help me because i dont have any idea to find the solution of my problems.

I have one Antminer S3 B3 and one is working with 2 PCI Connectors @250Mhz and hashs at 500gh/s but in one hour and a half the hash decreases to 360-380 gh/s. How is it possible? The status of miner appears to be OK, without any "X" or "-"... Somebody knows whats happening? Sad if i reboot the S3 the hashing push up to 500GH/s but in one hour and half decrease too... Sad
In the status no HW errors and nothing strange. Only i can saw is a Little decrease of temperature... 47-44 grades @500GH/s VS 46-40 @365-380 GH/s.

I observed that my miner works more stable with 2 PCIEX connectors tan 4. How is it posible??

And the second question is for the second S3 B3.

I tested 250Mhz, 237Mhz, 225 and default 218.75 but always i get a lot of HW errors. How can fix the HW errors?? The only speed that no cause HW errors is 212Mhz.
I think the temperature is not the problema because its working at 43-43 grades.

Two S3 antiminers are working with the last available firmware of Bitmaintech and are new. Arrived this week.

Can you help me? Sad

PD:I hope you can excuse my English

Anybody? Sad
My guess is your power supply for your over-clocked machine--can you swap it for a second and monitor to see if it continues to be difficult?

I tried with a Power Supply ANTEC HCP 1200W and after 3 hours de hash rate downgrade to 385 GH/s from 510 GH/s Sad I dont understand why....
I think its not power supply. Maybe the temperature? Its operating at 47-43 ºC.... I think is not an excessive temperature...

this is like the intel cpus the i5 2500k  if you got a good one over clock was easy if you got a bad one oh well.

I own 4 s-3's the batch 4 run great  2  close to 900gh

the batch 1 run meh.  2 run close to 850gh

Thank you for letting me know you are the first to reach the limit of 28nm Sha256 engineering.
Thank you again.

RockerBox is certainly not the limit of 28nm SHA256 engineering.
PickAxe our 3rd gen is also 28nm. The fact that we're using exactly the same process means one less production risk for us. We gained a lot from the issue we encountered with the first wafers lots of RockerBox.
I believe that there is still a lot room for improvement.

I would have an interest in buying a PickAxe if you allowed cc or paypal and If you did not do it as a long preorder.  2 weeks or less and  I would be in.

Same as I asked to use with the sp30 and the sp10  as I still believe you sell the best gear.

i noticed something fishy today , everytime i changed pools i got diffrent outcome . Tryed it again today to see if there were any changes to  the estimated payout , but i just realised all was the same ..
hmmm a Falcon even have dropped to 0.01988+

how is Your Falcon acting phillip

yep i see the same thing...all pools the same...i wonder if the update to the website has anything to do with that...it use to not say 21 days left free...wonder if that was cause i asked how do you really know if they are taking out the hosting fee or not from start...guess you still really have to trust them...my war machine got .041 yesterday and .042 the day before that...estimated says now .039...so we'll see tonight how close that is

nice has is currently paying 0.5404 BTC/GH/Day / 1000 * 54 = 0.0291816 vs my .039 estimated payout...hmm i guess i'll take an extra .01 Grin oh well it is what it is...
but their current payout changes alot during the day i think

I did manage to get my other 80mh/s over to nicehash but like i said before i think i missed those great payouts Sad but i seem to be still making more then on clever or anywhere else which is nice

right now scrypt mining has me a bit scared/nervous.  I have 70mh + 32 mh.  The stability in price makes me want to back off a bit.

I listed 2 of my 14 in house  gridseed blades on ebay.  I am looking to increase s-3's.  the deal above for 1 s-3 is pretty good.

I now have 2 s-3's in house 2 s-3's at my friends office. 1 s-3 active at zen and a second s-3 to be setup on zen.  gives me 6 s-3's

and I have a dragon miner in china.

ya the jump up n down has me scared too...can't really figure out a ROI if one day you get .056 and next ,042 and if it keeps dropping fast who knows Sad I currently have 6th/s on btc which is way more stable and easier to predict ROI...3th/s in my home n 3th/s hosted in china...

I still don't know if i wanna buy more scrypt or btc miners or just let this all ride out and hang up my mining hat...i mean you can literally just keep reinvesting the btc ya make from all this and buy more miners and do that over n over but in the end what is the point? you'll just keep making about the same per day and in the end you'll just have more hw to try and sell...tough choices to be made that is for sure

I caught  the march- april 2013 run nice.   I caught the oct - nov 2013 run nice.  I am ahead maybe 10k-12k.

I think  I do not want much more gear right now. I will keep this thread going  since I do think that gawminers are giving a good deal.  You need to shop them like you do amazon or newegg.

the aug 8th s-3 for 449 with 1 months free hosting is a good deal.  I will keep up the posts here  as best I can.

Interesting. I'm thinking about investing in a cloud but there's so many different companies out there. People like you are very helpful, thanks for doing this.

this is hosting not really cloud you own the gear and they will send it to you

So take the free hosting for the month and A ship it to your home or B let them host it for 90 cents a day.

you get this cheaper then anywhere for 1 unit.

I posted my newest purchase above

here it is on the gaw miner website

So here is my thinking BTC is the king of coins. (more stable)

the s-3 is .68btc  must buy 2 = 1.36btc

order today direct from the manufacture   you spend 1.36 btc

for 2 you need to buy a psu.  your power cost will be 350 watts for each one.

the affiliate  I used for my 20 dollar discount is here

http://hoosierminer.com/gawminers-coupon-codes/

his best code is gaw25

if you want to go through his blog you can.  or

you can just go to gawminer direct.

i was wondering getting a warmachine yesterday , but this kinda set me off . i see that setting the scryot miner to multialgoritm would have been the best option . but then again notheing we can controll tho.

posted new numbers

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=698679.msg7923839#msg7923839

Here are my thoughts  as of today.

I am going to order from them again.

I will post my order in about 1 hour.

I think it is the best deal around.------ but we all know how that shit changes in mining.

Okay I placed an order 2 minutes ago.  here is a screenshot of it.

notice I used  a gaw affiliate to get a 20 dollar discount.

it is a bitmain s-3 for 449 usd   - 20 bucks =  429 usd  I earned 4300 points for later that will further lower my 429 price.

I paid with a discover card that means 60 day protection from seller fraud and I have a 4% promo   so the 429 price drops to 411.84

I get 30 days free hosting.  In my house a s-3 will cost me more then 34 usd in power in a month.

so the 411.84- 34 =  377.84 usd   right now of bitmaintech a s-3 =  .68 btc that id more money
