Phil What do you think about the price drop of LTC?

I have decided to buy into LTC.  I have taken my last 3 zen payouts and each time I got one I purchased ltc with it.

Basically if LTC crashes It is a good chance to get some coins cheaply.

my last 3 payouts were

.03940361 btc
.04620274
.03956964

all converted to ltc.

Didn't the price of LTC already kinda crash? I've just been reading forums, haven't actually followed the stats...

crash is relative.  yes  it had a huge drop or crash.  it is now undergoing a second crash.

under 5 bucks

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/btce/ltcusd

if there is no bottom and it goes to 2 or 3 dollars scrypt coins could die off

I have a lot of btc gear ,but this low price for ltc  means death of scrypt or a big chance to make money.

So for me to keep ltc just makes sense.

I will order one kit. so I need to send 1.04 btc correct?
yep, one Tube is 1.04 btc.  I added payment addy to OP.
thanks!

I am sending you 1.04 btc in about 10 minutes.

I will hold back on label.

this is your posted address

https://blockchain.info/address/1DDZYpAgAQNsykvM499et8XpMfRJokFrFE

this is the  tx id

https://blockchain.info/tx/fc07c66c6ac6585d49c6ca7ed787f734bae84f944c853e4197fa984e9d89216b

So I was the first to buy this from you.

I will wait for label. Hoping you can clarify what label works  as 1 large flat rate seems too small.

Try to order some regional c flat rate boxes.  I think they will be good.

Once I get this I will post photos of assembly in this thread.

Right off the bat it looks like it wants 8 pcie connectors 2 per board  so I believe

this will want the evga 1300 psu.

I have some links to buy an evga 1300 psu.  once I confirm that psu works I will let everyone know.

I figure 850 x .9 = 765 watts then the psu eff so a 91 percent psu should be 840 watts. an 88 percent should be 870 watts

42064  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S3 Overclocking, what's your results ? on: August 13, 2014, 03:05:08 AM
More HW errors than accepted shares lol
Stales off the chart too, but that could have been something else. 3%+ over 225 and less than .1% at 225. Temps 38 or below. Let me know if you think I'm nuts and I'll crank them. No X's at any frequencies. I'm going for accepted shares.

225 is best I can do and keep HW errors acceptable on two B4 units. No X's, just too high % of HW errors for me.

and what is too high?

you are correct 3% is too high.  try my new 231.25 number
42065  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S3 Overclocking, what's your results ? on: August 13, 2014, 01:52:00 AM
I'm surprised some of are doing good at 250. I'll definitely have to try on of my B5's at 250. As of now, I haven tried any OC'ing yet.

I have found 2 new  freq's that work I will test 243.75 on both for 2 days.

 231.25

 243.75

option  'freq_value'    '1306' #243.75M
option  'chip_freq'      '243.75'
option  'timeout'        '16'

option  'freq_value'    '1206' #231.25M
option  'chip_freq'      '231.25'
option  'timeout'        '17'

both extra ones to try.

so we have

250
243.75
237.50
231.25
225
218.75   > stock should do 441gh
212.5
206.25
200

errors look high on one I will let it run tonight to see.

42066  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 13, 2014, 01:21:45 AM
and I got freq 243.75 to work now

option  'freq_value'    '1306' #243.75M
option  'chip_freq'      '243.75'
option  'timeout'        '16'

option  'freq_value'    '1206' #231.25M
option  'chip_freq'      '231.25'
option  'timeout'        '17'

both extra ones to try.

so we have

250
243.75
237.50
231.25
225
218.75   > stock should do 441gh
212.5
206.25
200

Hmm
I'm averaging 453 on two@ 225 over 23hrs. Need to get the Kill A Watt back on it to check at the wall and compare to 231 if I can average higher.
I'll try 231 again to see what happens. Like I said it was strange. No issues on your HW errors for sure..lol Mine are bad above 231 so far. Need to test more.

Let me know how that Freq goes. Mine never averaged over 440 at 231.25.
225 was actually higher GH/s for me. Yeah.. it was strange. No HW errors, but 225 ended up being better. I may try it again.

new set of numbers:

here is a little reminder for us     well  for me.

vi /etc/config/asic-freq

cause I got a new one to try!!

I got a working freq!!!!

231.25     just started testing it

lets hope it works for some:

do you know how to ssh in?  maybe the config file is bad on them

this file is good and I added a freq for 231.25  maybe your file is twisted a bit.  or maybe you have a flaw in the controller

will you leave your btc in the zen cloud account to earn zen points?

seems like a good deal.

No I am afraid of a hack.  when my money stays in the zen cloud earnings account it is subject to theft.  I had .39 btc stolen from me last year BIPS grabbed it when it was worth 1100 usd a coin.

the zen points earned are only  5 ot 6 percent not worth it to me.

Zen points actually work out to 11% APR now.

well it could be worth the risk of a hack maybe 11% is high enough. unlike my miners on zen which are cc purchased and have cc rights in case of a disaster .  letting them hold my coin make me completely  open to a major hack.

I am earning .04 btc a day  so in 10 days I have .4btc at risk.   I will have to think about what I want to do.
For now I will try earning back some coin. and not spending coin.

42073  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] ASICMiner Tube Group Buy #1 on: August 12, 2014, 09:20:08 PM
I will order one kit. so I need to send 1.04 btc correct?

I think the shipping issue is what can they fit in to be shipped safely

I have your zip code 60181  mine is 07731

so if it fits in 2 regional flat rate b boxes for me it is about 11 + 11 = 22 bucks

if it fits in a regional  flat rate c it is 33 bucks.

if it is in a pair of large flat rates it is 16 + 16 = 32 bucks

if it is in 2 med flat rate boxes it is  11 + 11 = 22 bucks

so figuring shipping  on one at 35 bucks  tops   for most usa buyers

I also don't understand pricing  1 full kit = 1.04 btc,

but if I want add on parts for a second miner to chain from the first (ie no controller) what is that cost?
in other words a 1.7th setup

okay I checked and the second one minus a controller is .971 so 1.04 = 2.011

for 1600-1700 gh

Anyone want to speculate which hardware manufacturer was testing harder to the tune of 50 phash for a day or so to give us such a pretty spike in difficulty?

Hopefully it stays gone....

http://www.coinwarz.com/network-hashrate-charts/bitcoin-network-hashrate-chart

Dive difficulty Dive!!

Right, because turning off 50PHs (just for the hell of it) makes a lot of sense.   Roll Eyes

"Nah, we don't need the money, let's just turn them off and let them collect dust. But we'll continue to pay the lease on the 2 massive datacenters that they are in."

If there is a sudden large spike in the network hashrate and it suddenly disappears, it's variance... not someone having a play with literally tons of equipment.

my guess is both variance and the bitfury came online    which means 169 is too low and 209 is too high.  maybe we are at  185ph .  would prefer the  rate to jump 15% or less have to wait a while to see whats really up.  well my 2 s-3s come soon. will wait for them
42075  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 12, 2014, 06:15:16 PM
Do the hardware manufacturers even realize what the bitcoin difficulty is lately? We need asic miners that perform in the > 4th/s range at this point.
"Do the hardware manufacturers even realize what the bitcoin difficulty is lately?"  I can assure you that manufacturers know what the difficulty is.  what's the point of this question?

who is "we" ? large mining operations or individual miners?  say, if at home, do you think you actually have an outlet to handle a 4th/s piece of equipment from any manufacturer today?

ignore the trolls so 1 full setup will be?

900gh pulling 900 watts

assuming I have every part needed except the miner cost is?
42076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My pool experience with cloud zenminer dot com on: August 12, 2014, 06:07:03 PM
Thanks a lot for this thread

I was worried about buying any new scrypt machines myself I put all my GPU's on sale 18 r9 290s on ebay cheap prices so I plan to pull in about 4k and use that to puchase 3 hosted ZeusMiner lighting x-6s that would cost me around 2400 after tax. and give me a hash rate of 120MHZ or so.  Hosting would be $2.40x3  a bit  less than the 13 cents i pay out here.

with the rest of my cash I might buy an s3 or two like you did to balance out my earnings depending on what next weeks diff increas looks like.

Edit : I looked at the batch 2 updated prices and power consumption of the Vaultbreakers and its not even close.  375MH for 1000 Watts is insane asuming they deliver.

Any thoughts ?

you are welcome.

the vaultbreaker is nuts if it works.

I am a bit afraid to buy much right now. The scrpyt world is due for major changes.

now the zeus was no where near the predicted power numbers it gave.
the sp30 was no where near what is said it would be.

my guess is the VB does 300mh at 1500 watts

but my  11 gridseed blades  do 55mh at 900 watts

so the vb  will do 5-7x the hash at 1.5 times the power

makes me think alt coins are going all over the place in the next 60-90 days.
42077  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 20ph increase in btc mining network on: August 12, 2014, 06:00:03 PM
20 mw for 40 ph comes to .5 watts   a gh .  I am thinking that chip can do under 1 watt say .9 not .5 watts

Do we know of any .5 WATT/GHS setup?

no confirmed tested gear for the little guy does .5 watts

the sp30 is .6 watts not sure if dogie has done his review on it.
42078  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 20ph increase in btc mining network on: August 12, 2014, 05:32:39 PM
Something doesn't add up.

You claim to know about their chips. You claim to know about their datacenters. You claim that they brought up 20MW in Iceland. However, almost 40PH/s just hit the network.

So, the question that all of your customers want answered: Are they using your chips or not? Otherwise how do you explain 40PH/s?

They're not using SP-Tech chips.  The bitfury group has their own desing which also happens to be the best 55nm chip to have ever hit the market.  In fact it competes on the same level as other manufacturers 28nm.

So to put it succintly.  The Bitfury group, who opened up the 20MW/40PH farm is using their own hardware with their own (and VC) money.

so you think they are getting .5 watts a hash?

20 mw for 40 ph comes to .5 watts   a gh .  I am thinking that chip can do under 1 watt say .9 not .5 watts

the 40 ph may be a bit less say 20-25ph bitfury and  some sp30's alog with some s-3's and a bit of good luck

still may top us over 20% .  I wonder if we get 3 under 10% after this big jump

I am running a zen thread reporting on gaw miners.   they are okay.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=698679.0;all

I moderated it since I was going to delete  haters but the thread does not get haters. So take what you will.

I have to say one thing I empty my zen account after coins come into it.  They now offer a deal like interest if you leave coins in.

I have been burned by online hacks:

BIPS  owes me .39 btc at 1100usd price  or about 400 bucks that I will never see.

If you feel like leaving money in the zen account you get 5-6% on it. NOT for my taste.
