4221  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Billionaires aiming to be immortal being with their vast wealth on: January 12, 2023, 07:44:04 PM
Who would want to be immortal? That’s some dumb shit young people would think is cool. Wait til you start aging and see all the pains and shit you have to deal with. It’s the folks who die young before they are forced to compromise who they are to conform to society that are the ones we should be jealous of. Imagine how awful life would be at 120 years old. No thanks…
4222  Other / Archival / Re: SONDORS Metacycle - $5,000 (now $6.5K) Electric Motorcycle on: January 12, 2023, 06:29:59 PM
I finally got the Metacycle registered. Still waiting on my insurance company to send me a policy… I will say the experience of trying to register this thing is enough to make anyone a Libertarian. They had me jump through so many hoops and bring my motorcycle in because they “never saw an electric motorcycle before.” After 4 trips to the MVD and eventually just paying a third party service over $400, I got it registered. A horrible experience, but at least it is behind me now and I can legally enjoy this beast (once my insurance company figures out what to do).
4223  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin What is the probability of 60 K+ again? on: January 12, 2023, 05:40:55 PM
Personally, I think it's already a done deal.  However, if it's a probability you want, I would put the probability of Bitcoin hitting $60K again in it's lifetime at about 80%.  At this point I think it would take a great deal of regulation, hacks, and competition for Bitcoin to slow it's growth.  Even though people hate it now because of it's recent price performance, a whole lot of people are now signed up to sites like Coinbase with their bank accounts already linked...  The next run up could be absolutely incredible.  I think it will be the first bubble where everyone is already ready and knows what to do.
4224  Other / Archival / Re: [POLL]What do you expect from Bitcoin in 2023? on: January 12, 2023, 05:38:44 PM
Up only!  So far 2023 is turning out to be as predictable as the other rallies off the bottom.  I don't understand how traders could follow anything but the 4-year cycle at this point.  It's been demonstrated over and over again, but for whatever reason people want to trade the little news ticks back and forth with each other.  It really doesn't have to be so stressful guys.  Sell every 4 years, buy every 4 years and you'll do great.  Try to trade every little news article and you're going to lose your ass.  Buy now, sell in 2025.  It sounds so simple but yet so many people will miss the trade...

That Khabibs coaching retirement has spoiled all my plans Cheesy Few weeks ago I have placed a bet on Makhachev vs Volkanovski fight (try to guess my bet lol). Now, as Khabib is no longer behind gaming controller and does not manage Makhachev in a "video game", I am a bit worried of loosing my money (I wonder of bookies have corrected their odds). Lets watch how Umar Nurmagomedov performs this Sunday without his bro.
Do you know that growing cucumbers and tomatoes is one of Khabibs businesses? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke0jMM_d7WE or google it. This is not the first time he is using that joke (if he jokes). I know that he really has that kind of business (in Dagestan) and has delegated it to one of his relatives.

Khabib is probably going to take himself absolutely away from the fighting. Now it is a little hard to say that Islam Makhachev is still going to be as effective as before even without Khabib. After all, he was a great inspiration for Islam Makhachev. And the support he can give to Islam Makhachev from the side of the octagon is absolutely unbelievable.

As far as I know and remember Khabib did say that he was going to do business with sheep and other animals as well when he retired. I am not going to be surprised if he has some kind of business like with sheep and vegetables which is actually quite big.

Sound like a nice way to retire and just keep himself out of the public. He promised to retire and so he did. We may have to forget about him getting back inside the cage. He has nothing to prove anyway even his best protege Islam proved it also.

The same result also if Connor fights Khabib, he might be able to make a career in boxing like Silva and perhaps Logan will be able to hype thier fight on PFL.

He's been putting on quite a bit of weight since retirement.  I think naturally he's a very big boy.  The amount of training and dieting he had to do to get into fighting shape and stay that way for so long was probably extremely difficult on him.  I don't think he'll be able to ever get back to that fighting shape now to be honest.  I also don't think he has any intention of trying to be a boxer, as he was a grappler and would probably get killed in a boxing match.  Now that he has seemingly retired from coaching as well, he'll probably continue to fade away until he is no longer mentioned, as his fighting opponents to me outside of McGregor weren't too impressive.
4226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we really make a living in sports betting? on: January 12, 2023, 07:32:06 AM
If you want to make a living from sports betting, you should look at ways besides just betting, which is hard to consistently win at. For example, some casinos offer referral programs. You can advertise their services and when people use them after following your link, you can get paid. Some people take out ads and really try to get referrals. Over time that can be one way you could make a living from sports betting.
4227  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 12, 2023, 01:01:06 AM
Up up and away. Did you catch the bottom? Was it obvious yet? Where are we going from here?

I think this rally is going to take us over $30K before it stops. Perhaps a few months of up only. Why am I so bullish? Simple. The market never should have dropped this low. It only did because of all the scammers like Barry and Sam that suppressed this market. The rubber is hitting the road though. Don’t be left behind.
4228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts about Polkadot? on: January 11, 2023, 04:20:54 PM
Guys, what are your thoughts about investing in Polkadot(Dot) right now? Is this time a good entry for buying Polkadot or should I wait for more? I'm not considering holding a long time for a bigger profit. Just looking for a short-term hold.

Any ideas?

My question for someone looking into buying Polkadot is...  What are you going to do with it?  I've heard a couple people mention buying Polkadot, but it's never to use it for anything.  It's always about staking it to get more Polkadot.  I think that's a really piss poor reason to buy a currency.  I honestly couldn't even give you one example of something you'd need to own Polkadot for.  I've never even heard of a project running on it.  Granted, I'm sure there's some activity out there, but is this activity that you need to participate in, or are you fooling yourself into thinking you'll buy this coin and then sell it for more later?  If that's your thinking, keep in mind the coins you're buying are someone else's sell it for more later.
4229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is this different type of random words on: January 11, 2023, 04:17:58 PM
My understanding is that it's people providing their identity for the website https://nostr.com/

Their definition of the service is:

"A decentralized network based on cryptographic keypairs and that is not peer-to-peer, it is super simple and scalable and therefore has a chance of working."

You can read more here:
https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nostr

The short of it is that it's a decentralized version of Twitter.  While this isn't exactly accurate, it's a good quick explanation of why people are using their twitter accounts to promote their nostr identity.  I haven't used it personally, as I enjoy Twitter, but I can see how evolving a project like this could turn into a trusted and decentralized social network in the future.  It feels very "web3" to me, which is what I find fascinating about those who are promoting it, as they have typically been anti-web3 in the past.
4230  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: STAKE ACCT FOR SALE on: January 11, 2023, 04:13:01 PM
Read Stake terms of services: https://stake.com/policies/terms

You will see this:

Quote
You are prohibited from selling, transferring or acquiring Player Accounts to or from other Players.

Selling and buying of account is against Stake's terms of service.

Ya, it is generally a bad idea to buy accounts in any situation.  You never know if the person who owned the account before you engaged in shady behavior that could find itself to you down the line.  Maybe the account is going to have any funds deposited seized or maybe the account was KYC'd to a bad person that is wanted by the police, or who knows...  The original owner could reclaim his account using his identity as verification...  The list goes on and on why it's a bad idea to do something like this.  Least of which is probably Stake closing the account and your money being wasted.
4231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 11, 2023, 04:10:22 PM
8 NBA games today with 2 of them being televised on ESPN's NBA doubleheader.  First up is the Bucks vs the Hawks.  While the Hawks have been playing great lately, I think the Bucks are just the better team and Giannis will be able to carry them to a win.  Hopefully the Hawks big guys don't cause him too many problems.  Then later we have the Suns and Nuggets.  The Suns are fresh off a game where their reserves beat the Warriors and the Nuggets have been healthy lately, so I tend to think the Nuggets are going to win this one fairly easily.  We'll see...
4232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Provably fair games are not fair on: January 11, 2023, 04:08:01 PM
This is a problem with a lot of "provably fair" games I see.  A lot of the time the instructions of how to prove that it's fair are so confusing that people either can't determine whether it's provably fair or not, or they just take the casino's word for it.  I think maybe the casinos need to get together and come up with some standards so that provably fair games can easily be determined as provably fair without too much mental strain.  It would also be great if players voted with their money that provably fair games are what they want to play when it comes time for them to gamble.
4233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the $17,000+ bitcoin price breakout benchmark to new price direction on: January 11, 2023, 04:05:15 PM
I'm usually not big on "breakouts" or judging price movement by small movements in one direction or another.  However, it is definitely felt that BTC was so stable for months and then suddenly started melting up above $17K.  Especially with all of the exchanges out there scrambling to try and secure customer funds and the GBTC fiasco or whether or not they have the claimed funds...  It feels to me like this is the start of another bull run.  I'm sure we'll see at least one major correction on the way to new highs, but I think this entry point will be looked back upon fondly for those who buy now.
4234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 11, 2023, 08:02:49 AM
That Suns vs Warriors game was something else. No way should the Suns have won that game with that lineup. I didn’t see anything outrageous, but one has to wonder if Scott Foster doesn’t always have some ulterior motive out there. The Suns winning when he’s refereeing seems obvious now when you consider they lose every game with Chris Paul and Foster as a ref. I really think the NBA needs to retire him.
4235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: January 11, 2023, 12:33:53 AM
ChatGPT is all the rage at the moment. I’ve seen that people are asking it to predict sporting events. Would you leave gambling decisions up to artificial intelligence? Do you see any potential drawbacks for outsourcing your bets to a software program? Has anyone here tried this yet? Do we need someone to put together a thread of ChatGPT predictions to see how accurate they are?  Any other thoughts?

For sports betting, I think the outcomes it will predict are the same or similar to the outcomes the odds predict, because its predictions will be based on past events, like the past matches between two teams and the past results of every team, so the probabilities it will give should be the same as the odds, it might correctly predict some results, but can't give sure outcomes as there is always a place for surprise result and that happens a lot, specially in football.

I wonder if you could preface the prediction with something.  For example, tell ChatGPT to pretend it is a famous gambler who always gets the winner right regardless of if it's an underdog or not.  Maybe specify some other ridiculous backstory for it to include in it's predictions.  Who knows, maybe you'll stumble upon the secret sauce.  I think if you introduced some interesting variables, maybe the predictions would be more than just whoever is favored to win.  I think if you can get that special sauce for it to start making genuine predictions based on something other than the odds, it could get fun and exciting pretty quickly.  Still on my to-do list.
4236  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Miners running Off grid/Solar on: January 10, 2023, 11:54:50 PM
Tesla is currently running a special of which I was just notified. Those using referrals to purchase a Tesla solar system are currently eligible to receive double the reward credits, which can be used for things like discounts on Tesla products or free supercharging. If interested or you’d like a referral code, feel free to reach out to me, as I was given referral codes when installing my Tesla Powerwall for my house.
4237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin core downloading weely slow on: January 10, 2023, 10:55:22 PM
As an alternative to trying to download via a VPN or TOR, since you’re on a laptop… Could you try going to a location with free internet and using that to download the blockchain? I didn’t catch the reason why you’re needing to use a VPN or TOR in the first place, but perhaps accessing another internet source might be a reasonable alternative to downloading over a VPN for several weeks.
4238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bottom of the Bear Market...let's accumulate!! on: January 10, 2023, 10:39:53 PM
You can count me in on the DCA club. I’ve been buying consistently for several months now and have no plan to stop anytime soon. I think buying under $20K is going to be looked back at as the best opportunity since $3K. Looking back there will likely be a lot of people who say it was obvious that this was the bottom, but not as many that can say they bought and took advantage. Be an advantage taker. Smiley
4239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman won $43million but was offered a steak dinner instead of her winnings on: January 10, 2023, 10:34:14 PM
I’m not sure how I’d feel about this if it were me. I think there’s probably more to the story than what we’ve been given here. Keeping an open mind, it could have been a tiny win but maybe the numbers in the machine stuck so it displayed the wrong amount or something else trivial like that and not a real win. If it were a real win and they just didn’t pay out as the story would have you believe, it definitely would warrant further investigation.
4240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Celsius won $4.2B worth of customers funds on: January 10, 2023, 07:31:16 PM
This was a pretty crazy ruling by the judge in my opinion and should set off some major red flags for anyone placing their funds in someone else's hands.  It would be foolish to think that other companies can't gamble with your money and find the same outcome if things go wrong.  It seems like a pretty good deal for them.  Take customer funds, gamble them on the most outrageous nonsense possible in hopes of making x1000 on the customer money.  Then if things go wrong you say, "oops, I'm sorry" and file for bankruptcy.  It's a shame this is what the industry has evolved into and you'd expect more from big players, but it goes to show that these people who are after your money are criminals who hide behind ridiculous laws.  Don't trust them.
