4221  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Ponzi Scheme hicmondtrade. on: August 29, 2020, 04:54:11 AM
They will not create an announcement thread here, they will be tagged and they will be ban, their advertising platform is Facebook, there they can form a page a group and they can invite newbies to invest, they cannot do it here because people here know what they are up to.
I guess that is the new system they are following. Some create threads here but the flag system must giving them away since now that logged out users can see the flags, future users will become cautious on opening links.

Purposefully the flag system is working as it is supposed to. So they are circumventing it by posting these in the crypto FB groups/Telegram channels and so on. They are not under our perview so nothing much we can do about them but make people aware. Pretty much the users spamming these sites and correspondingly their referral links are the low income country people who also used to spam the bounties section.
4222  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Cryptochrome - another DeFi with plagiarized whitepaper! on: August 29, 2020, 04:49:46 AM
Hello mate. The Project team hired me to create the page. Hope you will remove that negative trust.Thankyou.
Sad that you kept your username as WW and now you are promoting scams while we see WW as a superhero who is supposed to save lives and abide by the truth. Tongue

If you have been hired by the team you could help us here by posting about the conversation and how they got in touch with you, what account they own and what other personal details of the "scammers" that you can provide. I am sure that will help the scam hunters here to detect future scams by the similar teams.

Also is saddens me to that you have become a bounty campaign manager but not even done a little bit of research yourself about the team or the whitepaper while fellow users here have gone to this extent to expose scam. They have no obligation but they do that for the betterment of the community while users like you are creating new accounts everyday just to promote another scam and run a campaign for that. Shows incompetent you are at your work and the zero work ethics.

I will wait for you to provide the aforementioned information, failure of which I will tag your account and support any flags by fellow members.
4223  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What's the best wallet for Mac? on: August 29, 2020, 04:38:42 AM
I'm looking for a reputable multi-coin wallet for Mac. Any suggestions?
Mac or NoMac the choice of wallet will only differ when you are going for the desktop wallet which is what I deduce you are trying to ask.

In that sense you have exuded all the more secure methods of storing by using a hardware wallet. If I could change your mind, I would suggest you buying a hardware wallet. They allow many coins to be stored and are more secure.

Other than that you can use the suggestions offered by other members above this post. Maybe you could tell us more about your preferences so people can give better suited suggestions too. Wink
4224  Local / Mining (India) / Re: Importing ASIC miners to india from websites like Alibaba? on: August 28, 2020, 05:38:17 AM
I have been following the mining trend in India and as far my calculations goes Bitcoin mining is specifically not profitable since post-2013, not sure why you are ordering these miners anyway.

No, I haven't bought any miners from such sites but I hope what you ordered is legit and you get them in working condition.

One suggestion would be to check the "computer hardware" section of this forum where we have many trusted users buying and selling mining and mining related equipment. Rest assured you would not be scammed by the trusted users there but you should use an escrow none the less, although again I lack information as to who does such escrows in this subcontinent. Maybe some of our well known users here would be willing to.
4225  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Caracal Coin Plagiarized Whitepaper on: August 28, 2020, 05:32:14 AM
@CucakRowo

A roadmap does not mean anything. A generic roadmap can be copy pasted from any other ICO page archives. Who cares about the roadmap anyway, it's just there to make a fool of investors, even if they never realised it. It has been made to be delayed for years so why bother?  Grin

A copied WP is a definite scam but I am sure that many of the wannabe get-rich-quick people don't have any idea what a prospectus is and what a white paper is. Lack of insight and diligence in investing has lead to them getting scammed. Most of them end up talking to some random guy who promises them huge returns after putting money in these and they lose their money. Very few end up in this forum to check anything.
4226  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What are the risks of mobile wallets? on: August 28, 2020, 05:24:57 AM
The security risk if you store your asset in your android mobile app wallet is your phone can be stolen by someone who knows that you store your asset in that phone. Your phone can be lost in somewhere which you don't know.
Losing your phone does not necessarily mean that your assets are immediately lost.  You have lost access to then temporarily but it would depend on the type of asset you have there. Day you have stocks on a trading app, then without the password they can't access it. Say bitcoin is there in your mobile wallet, you can access your wallet from another device, clean it by sending to a new wallet and leave the thief hanging dry. You have to be quick to react and you might end up saving some of your assets like that.

Quote
To minimize that, you should have one mobile phone which you don't carry anywhere you go. That phone will not connect to any telecommunication provider and only connect in your WIFI or the place that has a private internet connection. If you can do that, you don't have to worry about anything.
Now I have heard of this airgapping thing but practically it is something cumbersome to do. Store coins that you might need for daily purpose on your mobile wallet and rest on the desktop wallet. That should work in most cases provided you are taking security of both devices seriously but not obsessively.
4227  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyone else having trouble earning Merit? on: August 28, 2020, 05:16:46 AM
My advice would not be anything different. If you are looking to rank up you need both activity and merit. While gaining enough merits to rank up may be difficult for some users it is not impossible.

What you should do is go through other sections of the forum and seek out threads that need a proper reply or information. Some merit sources may appreciate that and merit you.

Post in threads where you feel something needs to be added and not just because you want to post. Don't be obsessed with merits though. It can drive you nuts if you look at the numbers too much.
4228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I can't wait until I can pay using bitcoin at the supermarket on: August 27, 2020, 06:24:14 AM
Yeah, I'd rather spend the shit money and save my bitcoins, but I can't wait until I can use real money everywhere. I'd rather get paid in bitcoin and spend bitcoin.
Hold your horses there mate. It is still a long way to go.

You should not consider fiat to be shit, just because you don't like it. The importance of bitcoin is there because of the disadvantages of fiat. Think about it, if fiat didn't exist then bitcoin would not be talked about. There is a importance of everything in life. But we fail to comprehend it because we see only one side of the picture.

We all want bitcoin to be accepted by big merchants. But that is a long way, we can only hope for the best and see how the progress is with more people using it and thus raising the demand.
4229  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] kryptostance.net on: August 27, 2020, 06:18:06 AM
A couple of times I got a few cold-call PMs on tele asking me if I was a trader or not. I block people without even replying so I never got past that offer.

While there have been people who got scammed by ponzis for an average user who is diligent enough these scams are avoidable if you keep it in mind that money does not come for free otherwise the person talking about it would have become the biggest millionaire.

But we have some fools who fall for these and expect their money back too. Roll Eyes
4230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Brave Rewards on: August 27, 2020, 06:05:07 AM
Yes I have installed Brave browser but I have to be honest, I have never received any rewards just yet. Maybe I have not set it up properly or what, but I have not received anything. However, I know some people that have.
I would suggest you against it. I am not a fan of browsers which are something people use everyday for many sensitive work to be dishing out dust rewards for a KYC or any other sort. It would be wrong to incentivise usage of a product because this damages both the user and the other companies.

Point is that the damage to the user is not detected till the consequences occur, which in case of identity theft is pretty late and pretty devastating if the data falls in wrong hands which it eventually will.
4231  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading crypto is a different ball game on: August 26, 2020, 05:31:50 AM
Many of those who talk about crypto trading is that volatility often does its part and if you bet against it, to recover is very difficult, apart from that before going for any currency you must understand and try to predict the price of Bitcoin so that you do not go against you.
What I can say is that volatility can both make you rich and poor. Depends on what price you bought and when you are selling to being forced to sell.

Now the important thing is that many newbie traders have the habit of blaming the volatile markets as a scapegoat. While in many cases this is only partly true. The bitcoin price is currently on the rise but few months back the scenario was different. We saw stagnant prices a long time after the 2018dump.

Prices of 6k usd are still etched in memories of many users.

However if you buy at a lower price you have nothing to fret. The ones crying are the one who were going FOMO. Some analysts may say something but does not need to change your stance. You can be your own boss in the market.
4232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty hunter, keep updated about bounty payment. on: August 26, 2020, 05:19:43 AM
I also feel that I have experienced the same thing, it would be nice when finished in a bounty project at least visit their telegram to see their progress once a week so as not to be left with valuable information, if not from myself who else would want to pay attention to this kind of thing.
But you are missing the point. It is job of the bounty hunter itself to check the social channels when participating in these programs. It is a responsibility of the hunter. Would like to hear a counter-argument from your side too on this.

If you ask me then I consider it a lack of devotion to the project that you are promoting and the half-hearted efforts at trying tk make money.

Of course the bounty hunt may not be profitable but this type of mentality need to change.
4233  Other / Meta / Re: The moderators are bitches here on: August 26, 2020, 05:15:51 AM
Nope, some of them are kitties too. Reminds me of our favourite Lauda. Miss those days when she would scold me for not using tbe quote function properly. Smiley

OP, want to be a punk and blame the system? Go back to 4chan or r/btc where you came from.
4234  Other / Meta / Re: Spam advertisement on: August 26, 2020, 05:13:28 AM
Just report them. Meta is checked by moderators closely so it won't be missed or delayed for long.

But the irony is the same thing that spam threads happen in Meta. Although the argument is that the bots who spam these threads across many forums don't check where it's being posted. Grin
4235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BOUNTY HUNTERS: Don't sweat it. take it easy. you are lucky if you get PAID. on: August 25, 2020, 05:38:35 AM
I guess bounty is just like a gamble sometimes you win (your bounty is a successful project) sometimes you loose (Scam or Didnt make its ICO/IEO). But Bounty now a days they PAY but the allocation for the bounty is a little bit low
It was not always a gamble when the number of bounties happening was small in number and thus the excitement and outcome of joining one or two was worth it. When the coin offering spam of 2017 happened this died out and in came a lot of low income country users who made a mess of it all. Tongue

Thus today they have become a gamble. But even in a gamble there is a chance to make some money. In these bounties you may end up working for nothing.
4236  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What are the risks of mobile wallets? on: August 25, 2020, 05:33:17 AM
@Pmalek

VPN does not change anything for in terms of what the OP asked. Some VPNs may promise a lot of privacy but rest assured one fine day the authorities may crack down on them and take their logs. It is like pool of sharks trying to induce more paranoia to the small Frys and then taking their money. Something similar to AV software and using linux on the same. One is enough in my opinion but there are other opinions too.

Like bob123 said, I am lucky enough to live somewhere where such surveillance is almost none. Thus I don't have to bother about VPN. However this does not change the fact that I have to be very secure about how I am storing my private keys and my coins.
4237  Other / Meta / Re: How are we expected to rank up? on: August 25, 2020, 05:25:04 AM
OP, if you want to exclusively earn merits you would have to do something out of the box. Now I know this sounds awkward for a new member to do but this is how you gain a load of merits on this forum nowadays instead of how the system was supposed to be, that is make posts that are worth reading and you have a chance at getting merits.

However I am not convinced that the OP is a new user to this forum. The way they use the quoting function to reply to several users makes me wonder who is using behind this new account.

Still if they are really a new user then my advice would be to not hunt after merits but post in threads that you have an interest in and feel you wish to add something. It is tough for newbies to gain recognition but many merit sources are newbie-friendly.
4238  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Top CEX racing to list the most DEFI tokens on: August 24, 2020, 08:13:37 AM
The point is that exchanges run businesses and they can't afford to be not profitable. It is not a sign of endorsement when a top level CEX asks for suggestions for a tokens to be listed.

You can pretty well be sure that they have their own list of tokens and are just milking out support from their followers so as to make it seem that they are listening to them. It is the marketing method.

Whether this means good or bad, of course good for the people who are running the scam and bad for those who are getting into it. While you can make some money off this hype and bubble during the bullrun you might be facing bearish trend soon just like it happened with coin offerings.
4239  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What are the risks of mobile wallets? on: August 24, 2020, 08:06:48 AM
What security risks are involved when storing bitcoins in a an Android mobile app wallet, and how to minimize (or preferably eliminate) those risks when using one (such as Electrum)?
You can minimise some risks but not eliminate all.

Installing apps outside the official App stores is what many users do for several reasons. This carries a lot of risk which can be eliminated.

Keep the Android version updated which also means buying the new phones since they are created to only last for an average of 2years after which the software support is stopped and you are forced to buy.

Something similar to PC, don't download email attachment from unknown senders, they often contain malware or so.

Also don't share your private keys with others. It is something that everyone should be knowing already but still we have some noobs.
4240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty hunter, keep updated about bounty payment. on: August 24, 2020, 07:59:57 AM
I am not a supporter of these bounty projects so I might seem rude to many of you. The point is that updated or changed terms, rules and keeping track of those is the job of the bounty hunter. Managers usually take care of it but the person taking part has a responsibility too.

I have seen many childish threads about not being up to date with the rules while the fault lies in the participants. These are simple things but can save a lot of time and effort.

Added to this is the fact that hunters are so much obsessed with bounties that they join several ones at the same time and thus miss out on checking them all. This mentality is wrong but nothing can be done to help them unless they stop bounty hunting completely.
