^ Europe definitely lives on different rules and yes I can as easily sell for euro tether etc at some exchanges:
- Local ones very bad rate when w/d euro and not instant.
- Binance no more SEPA so 1.5% fee and days. $30 is regular bank
- Bittrex same day but $25-35 fee for any bank.
- Bitpanda same day no fees but shit rate.
- P2P shittier by the day on LBC, on bisq and others pretty good but not guaranteed same day and yeah, ever since GDPR and AMLD5 it's a pain to find good rates/liquidity. Hate splitting up sells among several traders.

But p2p traders in southeast asia, which is how I am most easily able to liquidate, BTC is king. You can also do Tether but won't be a great rate.

Plus, all traders have a big spread that is still better rates than at any exchange so I still gain a significant amount more selling BTC for local currency then sending to myself euros. Of course an additional step of inconvenience but actually faster. I can sell BTC to SEA trader and remit back to myself with a similar Transferwise service all instant, literally in under a minute I can get it all and significantly more than if I sell it direct at an exchange.

Again, just my personal preference experience -- it's actually still a frigging PITA to not be N American or European trying to reside there and live on crypto but yeah anyway, I guess I'm also really Bitcoin-oriented. Have a Metamask for all the other networks but just still find it my second resort.
4222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Emirates Airline will use 'Bitcoin as a Payment Service' on: June 09, 2022, 04:12:08 PM
Don't know how I didn't see this earlier would have asked them about it (I always use one of the Gulf airlines travelling home)

But I actually already used several airlines with Bitcoin, but via travelbybit. They cost a lot more on regular routes but the exotic routes, especially those with >1 transit? They cost cheaper when paying with Bitcoin.

Only problem comes later with some slight adjusting with the airlines itself IF your flight gets changed etc but otherwise I booked several returns on long distance and saved quite a bit.

Actually haven't found anyone else I know using it. Anyone here does?

And on the airlne subject, anyone look into AirBaltic's... latest crypto er, gig?

Yeah happy days for me too! Finally, bagged my first big win in a long long time. Even had time to make a hedge on Wales at 4.3 when NL led... so you can imagine my disappointment at the 92nd min equaliser. Nice to hear it also turned out for you Trofo!

Thank you tall Dutch men who can head the ball...

but phew the game was horrible to watch until around minute 85... de Jong de licht all of them passing like England League One clubs. Not that the Welsh were any better.

LuckyGuy's the bastard to beat though.

Haha. I'm feeling the pressure now bro.  Grin  I have no idea about how much I can keep going like this but I'm trying my best. It seems like I won't be able to predict the exact score of the Wales - Netherlands game now as the first half has ended up with a 0-0 tie.  Grin  However, I still have a chance for the Belgium - Poland game as the current score is 1-1 now. I'm just begging Belgium to win this game by 2-1, haha. Its probability is not low though but it's still very hard to predict the games of this kind of big teams.

It's all luck in the end (some skill for sure but how to you say the guy who predicted 2-1 is twice as good as they guy prediction 3-1 right?).

I'm rooting for you, honestly, I like seeing a new guy come in and show us all how it's done.

You literally shot yourself when you said you had a good chance at predicting Belgium-Poland though ha, but nah that's you being a true sportsman and allowing the rest of us to try and catch up Wink
4224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: June 09, 2022, 01:46:49 PM
They mentioned it a few times during the duration of their last clubradio cast right before they went to break mentioning about putting in your picks for the free 4-3 promotion for the NBA finals for Wednesday night.
Just got to tune in to be update is all. Cheesy

Yeah thanks, do need to tune in more often, just pretty awkward timing. So I don't think I won anything, highest scoring quarter was 2nd and I picked 4th, and then Curry... apparently had a shitty game

Question: where on earth to find stats like how many 3 ptrs he had? Gave up after a while.

Sportsbet can send USDT on both ethereum and tron networks so fees should not be a problem. Send it over tron network and transactions are basically free. Would not want to keep my USDT on tron network for years but it is perfect for quick in/out transactions.

Probably should clarify, even if I use Tron (which I don't) I'd still have to find a way to convert it back into a currency I could sell easily.

I use BUSDT sometimes too (Binance Smart Chain USDT), but eventually I need to send it somewhere, and that's normally to Binance to convert to BTC or some other real crypto then I cough up the fee anyway.

So the fee's always something I've to pay at some point (whether on network or on exchange).

BTC I like because I pay a really small fee, and I sell immediately p2p, so I get virtually all the value back. Every other crypto kicks me in the shin -- blame my passport I guess heh.
4225  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Edge issues Mastercard without KYC on: June 09, 2022, 06:24:52 AM
Debit cards have always been easy to get without KYC, though, no? I mean, I know it's getting harder and harder. Used to be you could just sign up with an email online and get all kinds of debit cards -- it's free money for the issuer as they charge you well high on reloads and fees. Now you do need to provide more info -- billing address proof, name, but I'm pretty sure it's still possible to get gift card type debit cards that don't bear a name.

As nullama points out above too, virtual cards still don't need a name.

So what's the big deal here really? That it can spend Bitcoin? Big deal =p
4226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: June 09, 2022, 05:18:09 AM
What can you say about today's games? Maybe the Netherlands? The rest of the pairs look risky even Scotland - Armenia.

Well done, friend! Saw your ticket, and thanks to Weghorst the damned tall abomination, I had my first winning acca in a long, long time -- that does happen to be Nations League but yeah, we don't care haha. All the favourites in Group A and B won finally.

Who else thinks a Kiwi-Aussie acca is worth the money?

I think so. I'm surprised that Australia has a 4.6 odds of winning and a 2.9 overall odds of qualifying. Despite the fact that Peru is a strong team, these are too pessimistic estimates for Australia. I think that in such circumstances betting on Australia would be a logical move because winning looks more likely than the bookmakers show us.

Great! Then I'm definitely putting in a small bet on that -- Aussies and Kiwis both have always almost been put at high-value odds because they do end up losing/drawing a lot against UEFA and Concacaf teams. I should know, I pick them quite a lot when odds are above 5/1 on ML heh.

But they play in hot Qatar so I wonder is Australia might prefer that... if Peru play at home, the high altitudes always suck the life out of opponents but elsewhere their inferior height is a problem.
4227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io UEFA Nations League Prediction Pool Discussion Thread on: June 08, 2022, 03:39:26 PM
@icopress I'm happy to let you join as Trofo suggests, I even don't mind giving my position's points as a starting base but agree, you'd have to join at last position to not risk anyone being sad heh.

LuckyGuy's the bastard to beat though.

Anyway. I wanted to wait till after the game tonight to mention my hedge against the shitty Hungary double chance win, and if Netherlands again pulls it off, I will have my first winning ticket since... 3 weeks? Amazing huh, even will get insurance if I lose.

But see, needed all the AFCON games plus World Cup to get it right, Italy really only scraped through.

If NL scores first and I happen to be online, you bet I'm hedging with a Welsh handicap!

Edit: my usual image sharing site down but it's a 12.85 ticket: Cape Verde, Zambia, Australia, Italy + Netherlands ML.
4228  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to go about becoming an OTC broker? on: June 08, 2022, 12:41:41 PM
Just reminded me of Localbitcoins pre-AMLD5... you used to be able to find a lot of people who actually do OTC on Localbitcoins, you know it is them when you see their buy/sell limits are in the million of dollars, and their method of payment was face-to-face (cash in person).

Contact them and you find out they almost always have an OTC website, you agree to the exact price and BTC, and it's settled off-site.

Maybe everyone like that started out p2p, and started then working with many different bigger traders to pool liquidity. And maybe this means 1 OTC broker is actually an agent for all the different owners? I did use to think if that was one way of starting it?

I did not even realize there was a Nations League 4-3free,,, but there is a new one up right now for the NBA match tomorrow Celtics vs Warriors. I went for mostly Celtics, and Curry to get 4+ 3 pointers since that guy seems to find a way all the time.

I have been building up USDT balance slowly over the months thanks to freebets, my mbtc balance is the one suffering a lot  Cheesy

Didn't see it either, and wouldn't have known about today's one if I didn't see your post so thank you =D

Annoying to see the "you must bet" message first when I've been losing daily bets on Nations League there already haha. I know, I know, it's just $10 but one might think last night's losing bets should count haha.

I have something like $30 USDT -- which if I take out and send back to someone else will probably cost me $30 in fees haha.
4230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: June 08, 2022, 08:27:01 AM
Up next Peru!

The 2-1 was an amazing win for Australia, and I think they're going to be pumped to win their match against Peru in a few days.

I honestly don't think Peru can win unless Australia makes some silly mistakes. In my opinion, if both teams play their best games, Australia will end up winning and securing their spot into group D.

It was amazing but frustrating to watch the first half (second half I was having my eyes elsewhere so couldn't really tell if they improved) but this match was so important to them and they played like they were not really hungry (I even felt UAE were more desperate).

Peru's pretty good, mind you, they've been solid players in the Concacaf games -- both will want to continue their WC final appearance but yeah, Aussie's got the weight of history behind them, appearing in every edition I've ever watched except the first (1998, where they lost the playoff to Iran) Wink

Who else thinks a Kiwi-Aussie acca is worth the money?
4231  Economy / Speculation / Re: One more leg down on: June 08, 2022, 07:22:31 AM
What makes you guys think we can go below the last ATH of 20k? This has never happened in the history of Bitcoin.

Also, many traders are apparently waiting to buy the dip at 23k as there's some strong support from a moving average somewhere around that area. Last time people were waiting to buy a similar dip at 1k USD, the price bounced back before they were able to do it.

People tend to see the situation as worse than it is in a bear market and better than it really is in bull market.

I don't think it will, but the weight of percentage is there...

ATH on past ATH keeps getting smaller in magnitude. At the same time, the severity of the floor from ATH does seem to dampen little by little... but the last floor was 85% of the ATH. For us to hit a floor of 20k is a pullback of less than 70%.

I'd never gamble on Bitcoin not pulling back that far.

Of course I'm real happy if we never break old ATH and stick to the course of that side of history.

If the World Cup wasn't organized in Qatar this year, the World Cup was going to start on Friday. Organizations like the World Cup and EURO are really very important for football lovers not to let the summer slip by. I hope that Fifa don't make this kind of ridiculous decisions anymore just to have more money. As @buwaytress took Italy on, we can see a favourite team winning comfortably tonight . Grin

Yeah, something I actually forgot about, the World Cup. See how they make us quickly forget once they've shelved things around?

Oh and yes, thanks everyone for supporting my bet. Which actually ticked off 2/3 legs except the Hungary double chance. Hooray! You 3-pointer exact scorers can thank me personally.

Not related to this thread perhaps but related to the whole fiasco of Nations League and internationals, I just got f'd up by Qatar Air moving flights in summer. They say it's an airport issue but I bet you it's the whole World Cup prep thing. So now instead of a 22 hour flight with one layover I have a fantastic 48+ hr hopping time across the Asian continent. Compensation? Nada. Considered refund and rebook but flights are 60% up since I last booked. And not getting cheaper.

If anyone doesn't need to fly this summer/winter. Don't. Cost to fly return to my nook of the world is over 200% costlier than in 2020. I blame Covid yes, but also World Cup as I idiotically took the route that goes past there.
4233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: June 07, 2022, 07:59:18 PM
Woo hoo Australia!

Watched the first half just before Germany-England Nations League game and I have to say I feared the worst when half time came up, Aussies had the offense but ended up blunt, but by the time they scored the first goal (with their only shot on target all game) I was okay. Then the equaliser -- had a bet riding on it -- and good old late goal popped up.

@KTChampions I got Aussie at effective 19/10 boost so really pleased. Somehow like them in the WC, even if they end up just getting whipped heh.

Up next Peru!

Now it gets to the point of pride to just get winning ticket but I will definitely drop my stakes on this tournament.

My tip for the day, both to score on Germany-England. Germany doesn't look so good in defence and England has strong bench to refresh the team. Should be goals.

I know exactly what you mean about pride, some inane desire to prove to myself I can get one big win out of this. It's not like I've got anyone to prove myself to either. I don't think it's my worst streak (that's many years ago getting to know Liverpool heh) but it's certainly one of my most humiliating performances this season overall in recent years, now just carrying over to post-season.

I'll take your BTTS and pair it with a double chance Hungary.

Really crazy results all around - I'm skipping it from now on, otherwise this is happening to me as well:

I should be making money with all these upsets but no, I know the minute I start betting on the Hungaries of this tourney, the tide will turn and I'll lose everything.

Go Hungary, that's my double chance, and if I lose at least I get the superbru points ha...
4237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Profitable are Gambling Bots? on: June 07, 2022, 03:39:18 PM
Bots are made to automate your bets and you are the one decide on what you are doing with that and there's no magic with those bots which can give you profit so maybe you shouldn't look up on those thinking that you can earn passive money by just buying some bots or script marketed by random people on gambling scene. If someone telling you that it can make you rich then that is a huge joke and you should avoid it because for sure he is just want to scam you.

Can't add more to what others have said but really, can't emphasise enough that bots are there to automate, just like in trading. There's no strategy that is foolproof so the best you can do is get the strategy to meet your requirements as quickly and with the least losses as possible.

I've never really had the need for bots -- once the site has autobet anyway, it meets my needs. That's generally just for wager requirements (dice anyway).

I will say the advantage of bots is your results are stored locally, so you can look and chart them out later, over a huge sample size. I don't do that but I suppose it'll help for more... passionate gamblers.
4238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: June 07, 2022, 02:39:18 PM
It's the same for other drivers, too. Notably Hamilton this year... but if we think longer-term, there's no better example than Alonso, a multiple world champion stuck in a car that isn't good enough for him, and can't challenge for wins... but he still sticks it out, he still races. There are very few spots available at big teams, and they don't come up often... and there is also the team-mate to consider, who may not want Vettel or Alonso as a team-mate, and might instead prefer someone they know they can beat.

He comes to mind a lot for me too. My kid watches F1 more than me (even the Fe) and it surprises me he overlooks Alonso a lot, probably doesn't register in his recent memory that the guy's an actually good driver, just happy to play second fiddle. Guys like that do enjoy racing and showing off but they know what they're there for and are just literally there to enjoy the ride.

Personally, think my love affair with Tsunoda will be unrequited. He's not impressed me this season so far.
4239  Economy / Economics / Re: Block Report: Bitcoin: Knowledge and Perceptions on: June 07, 2022, 01:38:26 PM
Same here, when I was a newbie I also think that btc is too expensive that is why I didn't buy it but later on I figured out that btc can be divided in smaller portions and you can also buy it this way. I think this was still included on the knowledge part, the op discussing about.

There are also people that knows that they can buy btc in factions but they still think that they can earn more on a much lighter coin because they can buy millions of it at a much cheaper cost. Btc/cryptos are not a secret anymore and many women are also involved because they know that they can earn an income if they invest and trade it. Most of them are from the third world country where the state of living is poor.

It never hit me like that though. You buy fractions of lots in stock markets, you also buy fractions of gold (who the hell could afford an ounce as a first time buyer anyway), don't know why people saw Bitcoin differently, but I guess it's just because people see the whole BTC price everywhere and it doesn't occur you can buy parts of it. Or as you say, they feel like they're getting in early on a lowcap coin, waiting for the x100 dream.
4240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US energy company opens mining facility in Middle East to use stranded natural.. on: June 07, 2022, 08:19:26 AM
Never seem to be able to find posts from before but this was something had spoken about the last time someone suggested it'd be expensive to mine in Southeast Asia, at least in my location -- hot, humid, and with very expensive corporate prices for electricity.

But on my island (it's a huge one, more like a mini continent) where the refineries are, I saw them myself first time 30 years ago, just chimneys... rows of them just flaring the gas non-stop 24/7. It's still flaring to this day.

So the natural gas is cheap, cheapest form of fuel anywhere in the country, but because there's no pipeline (also small population) other than to East Asia there's still too much. They try to bottle up as much as possible (why we still use cannisters to cook and to run LNG cars) but it's still way too much.

I keep thinking it's an idea to try and stave off the gas to run industries like mining anyway. It's not like that gas is being saved, it's all just been flaring for 3 decades.
