I don't think it's a DDOS...

You really see so many trades to lag the engine? I see a ridiculous amount of trades. If that lags their engine... Wow.
4242  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 30, 2013, 03:21:17 PM
It seems DDoS is not so profitable anymore. All weak hands seem to have panicked in the last few weeks. In fact we had huge daily volumes after the correction of April, 10th.
4243  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades CHECK OP FOR PAYMENT on: April 30, 2013, 03:16:53 PM
if someone can't pay within 24 hours just have a look who is next beyond the cutoff and sell it them if they are still interested.

Here's the problem with that.   I see the lowest set of bids going for 50.  I bid for X number of units at say, 60.  This pushes some of the low bidders out, forcing them to either quit or place a new higher bid.  Now the auction is over, I win with my 60 but quit without paying.  Those X number of units are now awarded to the bidder that was at the bottom of the winners list at the low bid price.

All kinds of shenanigans when you play that game.

This is why bids are binding - you don't honor your bid (or you don't honor the winner of an auction) - you get immediately a scammer tag and you are blacklisted for future auctions. That's the only way to keep this serious. And this is why you cannot edit posts in these subforums.
4244  Other / Off-topic / Re: A BFL ASIC 1000 BTC bet that looks like Inaba lost on: April 30, 2013, 03:14:19 PM
This is legit? What is runeks saying? So we will se Inaba with a scammer tag soon?
4245  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades CHECK OP FOR PAYMENT on: April 30, 2013, 03:10:23 PM
You do not need a mod to do that. You open a thread in the scam accusation thread, and then mods decide.

Anyhow, I think there should be also a general discussion about what to do with those that do not honor their bids, and also about the auctioneers that do not honor the winners (like in this case: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=182343.0). I repeat myself: if manipulating auctions is free, this subforum becomes a joke.

Somebody just sent 1 Satoshi to Satoshi Cheesy

Maybe it was inspired by this thread?

Here you have the transaction: https://blockchain.info/tx/41288feefe53f60a9a250c1cfeb037b45b6d8931a63220cb9bc91511fe53f3d3

I think it's also something that has to do with a philosophical point of view.

For me BTC is a way to say f**k off to dirty fiat and financial corporations, it is a way to break the chains of debt money. I think this is one of the main intentions of Satoshi and Co.

But for most of people here BTC means: I have 1,000BTC that costed me 1,000$, and now those BTC are 1,000x$140 = $140K. So their BTC has a value in relation to fiat money, which is something that seems absurd to me.

Personally, I don't want more fiat - I already earn what I need to live working. I want the freedom and the power BTC gives to individuals, thus I want more BTC and I don't really care about it skyrocketing in fiat terms.

I hear you and agree. Totally. (only trade to try to get more BTC).

However a high valuation in terms of fiat is a sign that the world is starting to take bitcoin seriously as money.

I believe the part in bold is true - but anyhow I also believe that the infrastructure is too fragile and the real economy too tiny for BTC to be ready for prime time.

Come on, a decentralized currency with an exchange that controls 80% of the market? They could be making up all the trades, creating an epic pump-and-dump scheme, and nobody could do nothing - all other exchanges just follow Gox's price. Or Gox could be shut down, and that would be a huge and dangerous (although not lethal) hit for BTC.

Making a long story short: we really need to work on BTC to improve it's infrastructure, it's real economy. There's still a long way to go before being ready for prime time.
4248  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades CHECK OP FOR PAYMENT on: April 30, 2013, 02:58:51 PM
So let's open a scam accusation for winvery? Could a participant to this auction do it, as offended part?
4249  Other / Off-topic / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto - 1,5 million Bitcoins - We need answers on: April 30, 2013, 02:55:10 PM
And where we can check those coins?

On the blockchain? Need some BTC basics my friend?

You can also use the search in these forums and you will find plenty of analysis of which address are Satoshi's (many address which 50BTC each).

Now a freebie: this (https://blockchain.info/address/1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa) is the address that holds the first 50BTC ever generated.
4250  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades CHECK OP FOR PAYMENT on: April 30, 2013, 02:47:58 PM
I meant "binding", sorry for the typo.

"if they are still interested"? WTF?

BIDS ARE BINGING. Or what kind of joke auctions are we having here?
4252  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 30, 2013, 02:44:50 PM
down it goes

1 small dump and it's pure panic...
Unbelievable...

Great, let's buy some more. I have bids from $125 to $30ish, wouldn't mind if they get hit Cheesy

Exactly how long do people want this to go on?
Don't you want the coin to grow? You know people will get tired of it sooner or later.
Big sell, drop, buy, big sell, drop, buy...
At what point will people stop saying i wish it would go back to 30?

I think BTC has a long way to go. I strongly believe it is not a quick-rich scheme. That said, I have in my mind a quantity of BTC I want to own, based on a % of the total amount (it's small, don't think I'm some kind of Winklevoss guy), and each dip is a buying opportunity in my book. I almost never exchange BTC for fiat, but I buy more BTC when I have the occasion (always with money I can afford to loose, obviously).

BTC will always rise and crash, like all commodity-like assets. And now is a newborn: market is a peanut (just barely $20M sitting in the order book ATM, is like a joke), infrastructure is poor (only one exchange controlling 80% of the market? WTF?), real economy activity besides pure speculation is almost non existant. All this points need to be addressed before BTC develops to its full potential.

TBH, crashes excite me more than rallies, because I know I will be able to buy more BTC's, which then I can hold or exchange for goods and services. I may be a pervert, but that's how I am.

I totally see where you're coming from but imo this is not good for the coin. I think it needs some more growth and not these constant crashes. But that's just my opinion ofcourse.

Man, it looks like we're not even going to test $125, that's disappointing. I don't think we would have broken that level anyway.

Let's see how things develop tomorrow - Wednesday is usually the day in which rallies or crashes are triggered.

4257  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Should I cancel my BFL 4/2/2013 Order? on: April 30, 2013, 02:23:28 PM
Nobody is going to buy an April order... For now. Maybe next year, when it's very likely that you will get it soon, somebody is going to be willing to pay for your preorder including a premium.... Or maybe not, because ROI will be impossible at that time.

Honestly, don't want to be rude, but I really cannot understand what crossed your mind when you pre-ordered in April. Maybe you are new and did not make any research? Maybe you thought BTC would skyrocket so even 0.0001BTC mined is worth it? No, sorry, last sentence has no sense, if you believed that you would just have bought BTC for the price of the miner.

So... what crossed your mind? Honest question.
4258  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 30, 2013, 01:47:57 PM
It seems to be going up or down.

That's a smart remark indeed Cheesy
4259  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades AUCTION OVER!!! on: April 30, 2013, 01:46:24 PM
He should be blacklisted as a hardware day trader, he had NO intention of completing and was looking for another buyer to pawn them off immediately afterwards. I don't believe he had any funds, or access to funds to complete without an immediate sale and I was forced to cock block to prevent this atrocious behaviour.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=191149.0;all

I had the full intention but was not given the means to pay immediately.

WinVery should be blacklisted for this comment, and for bidding for something he had no funds to cover.  It's pretty obvious that he bid knowing that he could run up the price later.  The problem was he was an ass about it.  Boycott his gambling site too.  Screw him.

I bid with the intention to immediately pay.

I'll bite.  Signed wallet address showing an amount of 105BTC or greater please.

Here's what happened - you placed a bid with the only way you could pay is if someone bought immediately  from you.  When that fell through, you backed out.  I would hope anyone reading this would think twice about going to your gambling site.  I'm sure that's legit too.  Roll Eyes

If thats what he did, he needs to be scammer tagged immediately.

That's what he did. There's proof on the forum. We need to apply the rules or otherwise auctions will become a joke on these forums. We need the scammer tag for this guy, and for him to be blacklisted to future auctions. He will create another account, but at least is a start to avoid misuse of these subforums.

I would cancel too. But it's your call...
