1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: @RogerVer lets make a deal. At least 60k, my BTU for your BTC. on: April 17, 2023, 11:19:15 AM
Sentence is in: 1 year jail time. https://cointelegraph.com/news/individual-behind-3-4b-silk-road-bitcoin-theft-sentenced-to-one-year-in-prison

He probably still has plenty of legit BTC left.

IMO this is one of the best possible outcomes for him, he paid the price and he will be now be able to enjoy his riches without being paranoid.

Wonder where he slipped up with his OpSec. He lasted 10 years.

Worst mistake was a newbie one - he commingled Silk Road and clean coins in the same wallet. At some point he sent some legit coins to an exchange (where he was likely KYC'd), and change was sent back to his wallet. After a while he moved the Silk Road coins and the change coming from his clean coins was sent together with the dirty ones.

Law enforcement contacted the exchange and got all the details including his IP address.

Bumping this thread now that loaded is set to be sentenced tomorrow (see: https://www.wsj.com/articles/bitcoin-blockchain-hacking-arrests-93a4cb29)

Roger was lucky Zhong didn't follow up (he probably got scared because of this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6bcccp/loadeds_coins_trace_back_to/) - otherwise he would have ended up double rekt.

Well I came back after many years to see if proudhon was still bearish.

And he is. Not disappointed tbh

There is no sorting anymore in ledgers, since they are computed and paged in on the DB side. If the wallet side balance is fine, then this isn't a DB issue but a GUI one.

At this point you'll have to wait for 0.96, which has a lot of fixes on that front.

OK, thank you.
7  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: 2 year old Armory wallet. Do I have to sync the entire blockchain? on: January 09, 2017, 04:59:05 PM
^ I'm running 0.93.3.

0.95.1 won't start for me on OSX (not sure how to debug this, as I'm used to Linux), so I just got 0.93.3.

EDIT: With 0.95.1, if I do this

Code:
open /Applications/Armory.app

in a terminal, the Armory icon appears very briefly in the dock, then disappears, and nothing is printed to the console.

EDIT2: Found 0.95 on the GitHub repo's Releases page, and it works. It's scanning now...

Try this fix. (It'll be rolled into 0.96.) That should allow 0.95.1 to launch.

That fix worked for me. But you will need to remember move Armory.app to your Application folder for it to work.

If you tally the transactions visible in the ledger, what total amount do you end up with? If you double click on the wallet, is the balance off as well?

If I double click on the wallet the balance is OK.

I just discovered this: if I click on "Date", "Wallet", "Comments", or "Amount" on the transactions view the sorting of the transactions doesn't change but the balance updates to the correct amount. So I guess this bug is related to the wallet filter and the transactions view.
9  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Damaged wallet on: January 07, 2017, 03:32:58 PM
Log doesn't show anything off. Look at the wallet history, are there transactions missing?

No there aren't. I had a watching-only wallet with +20k transactions and I removed it just in case - the maximum availabe funds/spendable funds is still wrong. It says 0.0000000.
10  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Damaged wallet on: January 07, 2017, 02:09:13 AM
I finally managed to run 0.95.1 and now the transaction is displayed correctly when I double click on it but the wallet fiter is NOT working. Furthermore the maximum funds/spendable funds display is incorrect. Sad

Do you have enough addresses computed on the wallet chain? What is your top block? Let's see dbLog.txt.

Yes I have, for sure. dbLog.txt sent via private message.

Perhaps you haven't defined ownership of all your wallets in Armory. For each wallet in Armory, go to "Wallet Properties/Belongs to:" and check "This wallet is mine" then click OK. Otherwise, available wallet funds will not be included in the total balance displayed on the main screen.

Yes I did - ownership was defined long ago, I've been using armory since a long time. Neverthless I re-assigned ownership just in case to no avail.
12  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Damaged wallet on: January 06, 2017, 09:28:23 PM
the wallet fiter is NOT working

That's a known bug. goatpig will hopefully have it squashed for 0.96.

Also the one about maximum spendable funds? It also seems its having problems to go online.

I managed to start 0.95.1 but says "DB version mismatch"

Deleting database folder in /Application Support/Armory doesn't resolve the issue.

EDIT: just realized that an instance of armorydb kept running and i had to manually shut it off. Now I've deleted the db and its rebuilding. Will update later.
15  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Damaged wallet on: January 06, 2017, 07:33:04 PM
You're going to want to talk to goatpig and droark about this. I can't figure out why some things are breaking, sorry.

OK - in the meanwhile please let me know if the log file i sent sheds some life.
16  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Damaged wallet on: January 06, 2017, 07:25:26 PM
OK - will send via private msg right now.

BTW, 0.95.1 doesn't start on my OSX Sierra 10.12.2 - any fix?
That's a known issue. See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1732805.0 for the fix

Logs sent.

I already checked and this fix did not work:

Quote
Armory definitely works for me on 10.12.2. Just sent and received coins today, actually. Smiley That said, can you do me a favor? Go to /Applications/Armory.app/Contents/MacOS/py/usr/lib/armory/armoryengine/ and edit ArmoryUtils.py at Line 1267. Once saved, start Armory and see if it finishes starting up.

Old:
Code:
LOGINFO('   Preferred Encoding    : ' + locale.getpreferredencoding())

New:
Code:
prefEnc = locale.getpreferredencoding()
if prefEnc == None:
   if os.environ.get('LC_ALL', '').upper() == 'UTF-8':
      prefEnc = 'utf-8'
   else:
      prefEnc = 'Unknown'
LOGINFO('   Preferred Encoding    : ' + prefEnc)

EDIT: Added a suggested fix.
17  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Damaged wallet on: January 06, 2017, 07:06:53 PM
Try upgrading to 0.95.1. IIRC this issue with "transaction does not exist in Armory's database" is one of the known bugs of 0.94.1.

Also, please post the Armory log files.

Which logs do you need?
Just go to File > Export Log Files and post the contents of the resulting file.

OK - will send via private msg right now.

19  Bitcoin / Armory / Damaged wallet on: January 06, 2017, 01:56:51 PM
I have a problem with a wallet.

It all began when I sent a transaction and when I clicked on it on the transaction list I got the "The transaction you requested be displayed does not exist in Armory's database" alert.

The problem persisted after a rebuild and a rescan.

I then tried to change the comment of the transaction as it seemed the wrong comment was displayed. The wallet completely disappeared from "Available Wallets".  I fixed it with "Fix Damaged Wallet" and it reappeared but the offending transaction still "does not exist in Armory's database. " Every time I try to change a comment on this wallet it disappears and I have to fix it.

Recovery.log has been sent via private message.

I'm worried this can be the start of a bigger problem with that wallet - please advise.

UPDATE: I realized that on  "Wallet Properties" no addresses were displayed for this wallet. On "addresses used" it said no addresses were used (which is wrong) but the total computed addresses seem right. I computed 100 extra addresses and now the wallet is "scanning" - I will updated when the scan is finished. I'm using Armory 0.94.1

After we pass the $785 mark on Stamp there's no real resistance until ATH. And you know what happens when we approach ATH, right? Media frenzy, irrational exuberance, and exponential we go.

On most other markets (Kraken, BTC-E, Huobi) that resistance point, which is the mid-June high, has already been broken. The other side of the story says that on Stamp we had a double or even triple top, which should be a bad signal.

But Bitcoin never gives a fuck about TA or double or triple tops. Up we go. I'm buying!

Why after 785 will we get past 800,900,1000 without too much trouble?

Not really, we will go to ATH (around $1200) with no real resistance and then we go exponential for a relatively short time before the crash - like it always happened. I've witnessed this shit three times already Cheesy

Probably the big rally will not be as exponential and short-lived as in Dec 2013, Apr. 2013 and June 2011 (when price started doubling every week) because the coin is getting mature and the market getting bigger, much more money is needed for the price to double - but its still a very small market which is very prone to big rallies and big crashes.
