Did you sort out issues with SilverFish miners guys reported couple of pages back ?

Thank you

On the Lee Group guide for the SF-28 in the second post it show the best to do if you have a unit not hashing up to speed https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=650608.msg7285593#msg7285593 .  It has been noticed not all blades hash the same as mentioned before.  The SilverFish is a good unit with great expandability, and they have focused on a lot of features it seem for miners.  The SilverFish program is it's biggest strength being able to switch pools in a matter of seconds on up to 100 miners, monitor all miners very easily, install additional unit within minutes, etc.

There has been a big adjustment on Scrypt miner prices.  The A2-30 is much less susceptible to heat being a closed air unit, but it also is larger in size.  But it's all enclosed with no computer needed.  Depending on your conditions and what you are looking for is what I would judge which miner is better for you.

Many thanks for detailed response Smiley

I have some Ants which are open case design and they are working without issues for 7 months Smiley That's why I was looking at Silverfish miner but than I read that they are not hashing reliably. I have my miners at my uncle which is 2500km away so unless they work 100% of time like Ants I can't afford to get them because he is unable to fix them.

Size doesn't mutter to me, I have 5x5m room available to use and so far I have only couple of Ants and habaneros there.

Which one would you get ?
(there are just couple reviews on BtcTalk)

so you want to run the unit in house.   so to speak.

I have gridseed blades 8 of them hash at 40mh pull around 700 watts.

 pluses
 cheap you can get a 4 pack for 1700   so 16 = 6800  usd for  80=82mh

downside

16 need about 1400-1500 watts of power  they also need to be maintained .  they are not like s-1's  which are set it and forget and will start back up after a power failure.

the top of the line unit right now  is sold by lee on this thread.

the a2-86mh miner for 9199

plus side it uses 850 to 900 watts vs  1400 to 1500 watts for the gridseeds

so you save close to 12 kwatts of power a day  .  look at it this way 12 k-watts is 2 dollars maybe more or less.

price for the 16 gridseeds = 6800usd  price for the a2-86m = 9200    power saved 60 dollars a month  that means 40 months to make up for the power.

So buying the top of the line miner for 9200 is pretty dumb if you think power saved is the only thing that matters

Now there is more to figure ..

the top of the  miner has 3 or 4 wires max

16 gridseed blades has about 68 wires
the gridseed blades will sell on ebay one at a time pretty easy.
the  16 gridseed blades can be point to 32 different pools  since each has 2 usb connections.
the gridseed blades can use a 92 mm noctua fan and be very quiet.

You need to weigh what you want to do.
Maybe your uncles place has great power prices 6 cents or 8 cents
Can your uncle check on the gear?
 The A2-86m can run remote.
The gridseed blades are a bit more simple  and I don't know how to reset them remotely.

It is a tough call  if the a2-86m was about 7599  it would be go get it.

but at 9200  it does not compete well against a guy like me that has the much lower cost gridseed blades.

remember on one level both you and I are looking for the same coins.

So if you get the 9200 dollar piece and I get the 6800 dollar piece and can do the work needed to run them I am better then you.

Look at it business wise.  I am retired = time on my hands.  I have worked with computers for about 40 years.
I go back to the big old ibm mainframes.

I can do    16 of these gridseed blades.     so   that is  about 6800 usd  and about 82mh

so I am 2400 ahead of you  .  take away 2 psu's for 350 some extra hubs.

I am 2000 usd ahead of you with about the same  hash.   my power is 2 dollars a day difference.

Since my labor is 'free'   It take 1000 days for you to catch up to me.

This is why right now I buy gridseed blades. Not the A2-86m

Are you guys really renting terahashes? Isn't it the way to never meet ROI if the btc price won't skyrocket?

I purchased my machine and I own it, lee hosts it.

I purchased when coins were 450  with coins now  at 600 I will make a cash profit.
42563  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [GUIDE] Undervolt antminer s1 [1.19W/GH at the wall] on: June 28, 2014, 03:04:57 AM
Any videos of this anywhere.  Way to confusing for me without a video Sad
All the pencil mod ones on youtube don't use voltmeters either?

It's super easy to do! Don't even have to check the voltage to get decent results. Just check the Ohms before and after applying the pencil. I will see about putting a short video up for the S1 pencil mod.

8 resisters 2 or 3 pencil strokes on each one.

ohms before 4.47k  ohms after   2.9- 3.4k

I allowed that much variance on purpose.

Why because I wanted to see how forgiving the s-1 would be  to less then perfect ohms.   I did 3 s-1's     two run at freq 275 one runs at freq 300  .. they pull   560 watts and do 420gh   more then a month now .. no adjustments of any kind.   watts stay between 555 and 565 hash stays near 420.  I can begin to say how easy this is to do.

don't muscle the pencil strokes  .  I used less pressure on them then when I write with a pencil.   if you resisters stay between 2.9 and 3.4  you should do  around 140gh a machine around 185 watts

From Minersource Facebook Page:

Black Arrow Update: 27 June 2014

Shipping: the shipping of the X-1 (Control Board) test batch has been completed. The production of X-1 (Batch1 and Batch2) is close to completion and shipping will resume within days. Please note that the X-1 (RPi) units have been discontinued and are no longer available on order. The delivery for the boards for all X-1 currently on order will be completed by the SMT factory tonight. Product assembly for mass production is already booked.

Following a thorough reviewing, the X-3 backplane has been put in production. The first batch will be delivered this weekend. We have several designs to our disposal and we have to decide which one was the best choice. We will be able to inform our customers on the X-3 shipping schedule within a few days.

LCD - The software team are modifying the driver to work with our MCU. The LCD feature will be added to the miners within 10 days after the driver will be released. We kindly remind our customers that the LCD has been added on their request. Our initial design did not have this option which was added at the beginning of this year. However, once available, the LCD will be installed on all units regardless of the time of the order being placed.

X2 – First batch of Prospero X2 will be assembled and tested next week. More detailed updates on X2 will be provided with our next weekly progress update.

Wi-Fi – External antennas have been tested and Wi-Fi is working. Please note its functionality is linked to LCD/touchscreen functionality. Units with Wi-Fi will be delivered as soon as we have LCD available in our products.

Rent-A-Minion: the first site to host this service has been completed. The delivery for the mining equipment will be done in parallel with the shipping for Batch1 & Batch2. Customers will be notified when their quota will be available according to the shipping queue.

Compensation Package: this has proved to be a hot topic over the past few weeks. The internal assessment on a potential compensation package is under way and the final decision will be made public when the shipping of Batch1 and Batch2 will be completed.

The surprise: there were various speculations regarding the nature of the surprise. We are not keen on sustaining the suspense any longer however we believe that the moment of disclosing the secret has to be well prepared so it can benefit our customers. Without disclosing any details, we can only ask for our customers to bear with us. We are hoping that the waiting will be worth it.

well   lets be optimistic .  and we start to hash JULY 8th.  At .9 watts a hash .

a share was 130 fiat     . ( please I know we paid in btc )

100gh will earn 80 bucks if diff jumps in the 20's .  last I heard we may get 60gh  for a share.  .

if we hash in early july we may get 50% of our cash outlay.

bailouts  what could really help is we get 80 or 100 gh  and coins jump up a lot.

It does look  like we will get some btc back on this.  So fingers crossed that btc shoots way up.

Oooh I just realised why you were saying they were loud - I turned the fan on my module down to nothing and provided my own cooling. Yeah those things are loud on their own.

did you do a report on one yet?

do they get 2th at 2000watts??

42567  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Please Help: How do I connect RockMiner R-BOX to PSU on: June 27, 2014, 11:22:31 PM
I got my RockMiner R-BOX today and they didn't each come with a wallwart like I thought. But this means I can just hook it up to my 600W PSU that I have just laying around.

The power things I got plug right into the r-box and the other end is a red and white wire. Can someone please tell me how I would go about hooking that up to my PSU.
lookup doggie's setup guide for rbox.  there's search box in upper right corner

Thanks, but it doesn't seem like he shows a method to hook it up to an actual PSU.

To hook up to a PSU you will need something like
http://minersource.net/collections/frontpage/products/atx-to-dc-power-adapter

Shit... I wasn't aware I needed something else to hook them to a PSU. I wanted to get these setup today. Any suggestions on how to hookup at least just a few today.
You could cut a wire on the PSU (should be the molex cable) connect the red(Rbox) to the yellow(PSU) and white(rbox) to the black(PSU) it should work.

Ok, my PSU is modular, so do you think I can do that for all the r-box I have? I have 7

what state do you live in? I am in NJ   near great adventure zip 07731   >

I'm close, but not close enough. I'm in Ohio
  sorry

the little yellow box shown by minersource is pretty good.  I have one of them and I am running some gridseed blades with it.  cablez has a thread on this site direct plug-in to your atx psu and to your r-boxes  ..  i think his gear is a little better then the box minersource has.   but for me I have both.

they pushed the release back again

Makes sense  they are still selling s-2's   ….

So    we will just have to buy out those s-2's..

Anyone want them?

as for diff jumps i get 16.5 or 16.8

Well, it's here, and it was really badly damaged in shipping.  I'll throw some photos up later.

TL;DR: Don't buy.  Significant design flaws means it's almost impossible for it NOT to break in transit.

sorry , but I have to say I told you so.    You can post an Fu to me  I would understand  why you would.

Shipping packages of that weight and size just end up broken.  46kg  or the typo of 67gh  are both too heavy.

I have been doing a small but steady EBAY business for 10 years.  I stopped shipping any packages over 45 pounds.

I hope you can get it repaired.

They would be so much better off   shipping the psu's in 1 box.   the blades with the the chips in a second box and the case in a third box.

I made money on all 16 of my s-1's  Still have 3 mining as i type.

the three mining now will make btc roi fiat roi. in house .   with out selling them and they always ran under volted and under clocked.

the other 13 needed to sell on ebay to make money.   All told 16 s-1s  cost me as high as 800 usd and as low as 172 usd.  grand total of about  6400.

my cash profit was about 1600  so 6400 turned into 8000.  this could not have been done without ebay. frankly I am a bit tired of it all.

not looking forward to mining right now.   the delay of the rk-box and the s-3 really set me back a lot on a psychological level.

I have  switched  to a lot of gridseed blades for now.

42572  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What would you do? Mine with $40k or purchase Bitcoin? on: June 27, 2014, 08:42:44 PM
Glad it's not just me!  I've become an RMA/store exchange expert these days.  Tip:  even if the store says they only make returns for 30 days you can always play dumb and bring something in later hoping to get that clerk that just doesn't care (saved me the hassle on a motherboard & 2 video cards once).

p.s.  it is too fun.

It is fun until you awake at 2:47AM to the smell of fried PSU with your smoke detector going off and the lights in the house are out.  yeah good times  Cheesy

tell me more.  how did you do it?

did you break the number one rule of psu?

run that mofo  psu  24/7/365 at 90 percent capacity =  why did my psu die?

a suggestion.   go to the start mining  part on the you tube video . right click it and let us see the exact bat file

change private info (user name)  leave the rest.

i can send new people to the new video and they will have a better idea to write a start file  .

I don't know specifically about the CX750, but with most Corsair PSU's I have used this would not work.  I know it's not advisable, but it just plain may not work at all.  It seems if I load a PSU with multiple miners I need to be at least 10 -15% under the rated wattage or the PSU will just turn on and then off as if overloaded.  Sometimes this is solvable by starting one device, letting it warm up, then adding the second.   But there seem to be safety mechanisms to prevent you from pulling too much juice.  I always try and be 100-200w under the PSU rating.  Then I don't have issues.  For what it's worth....

I've managed to run two overclocked S1's on a Corsair CX750M no problem although its not advisable.   I've also had good luck with the corsair HX750, and the EVGA SuperNOVA 750G2.

I just hope I have the same result with the S3's. - Edit: When we eventually get to underclocking them.

Just make sure there is nothing flammable near by if you are going to do that long term.  I have seen this go very bad.

Guys, your conversation is speculation and OT for this GB.   Besides, "solo mining" and "pool" shouldn't be said together...

no it is not speculation  as r-box are the best small scale device for solo -pool mining .……

While I may be annoying you  and I apologize for that.   I am looking to expand BTC  in a way people can relate to.

These are a great device to point at a pool that pays only the block maker (is that better name then solo pool) .  or how about

www.blockmakergetsitallpool..com/philipma gives this name

I point them at bitsolo.net  3 of them.  the current cost is  2.50 for the 3  pointed for 1 day.   or .83 cents a day for one.  that is with diff at 13.5 and power at 15 cents a k watt

then I point them at btcguild  for 6 days.    where they earn about 2.05 usd x 6 or 12.60 usd  for the 6 days.

yes cooling matters a lot.
