4261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why CAT is so hot? on: December 29, 2013, 05:17:05 PM
cats are internet and thus this coin is definetly serious deal ma kittehs!

A lot of coins rely heavily on their name and branding. That's what made Dogecoin so popular. There's a lot of very nice-sounding but generic-sounding coins right now. Cat Coin is pretty memorable.

Don't forget to donate me some CATs so I can have fun too Cheesy

200 on the way, dev  Cool
Thanks a lot! Sometimes I feel stupid for launching a coin without mining gear to mine it lol, but anyway I hope that this really takes off and that donations keep coming Cheesy

Sent you a big fat stack of cats dev. Thanks for adding icons and wallet graphics!

All who mined at start should think about sending dev some coins.

..and coins to the select few who have been working just as hard to promote Cat Coin. I won't mention names, but it should be obvious who here has been actively promoting Cat Coin.  Smiley

Why CAT is so hot?

- Surprisingly fair launch.. (you won't see often a launch like that..)

- Scarcity (we didn't see 10 millions coins created in one day, cause network hashrate went up very fast)

- Constant and slightly growing network hashrate

- Undervalued compared to hyperinflated DOGE

-So many people like cats and as an user proposed it would be nice if a pool would donate a small % of fees to cats rescue/help service.

Yeah, that last point is a pretty good idea. All it would take would be a few well-written proposals to some cat charities to pick up on this coin and the profile would go through the roof.

Any catcoin pool admin willing to support the idea? I'll gladly throw some hashrate at your pool.

Let this be known in the main Cat Coin thread, the pools are fairly active in promoting themselves there.  Smiley

If someone is willing to send out the message, I'd be happy to write up a professional message that could be emailed to a few Cat charities.

This is a terrible idea.

Free market rules.

Free market for the win.

Six cane strokes to whatever reporting mastermind called dogecoin 'bitcoin alternative'.  All these altcoins undermine bitcoin, the strongest tactical candidate for doing the economy-transforming stuff we all want cryptocoins to do.

Undermine? People are trading in Altcoins for Bitcoins. Bitcoin is basically the gold standard in Crypto Currency. If anything they're strengthening the Bitcoin network, Not weakening it. People don't want to hold on to volatile Altcoins. They want the more stable Bitcoin.
4268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why CAT is so hot? on: December 29, 2013, 04:53:59 PM
People have seen the heights Dogecoin have reached, albeit without any intention, and realise that Cats are basically synonymous with the Internet. Dogecoin got where it did from meme propagation and novelty. Cat based currency will appeal to a far wider internet demographic than Doge.

As ridiculous as it is, this is the Internet, and if you think you'll profit from reconciling Internet with sensibility, then you'll soon be a poor man.

Cat Coin is worth holding on to. I'll be quoting this sentiment with a big "told you so" in a few months.
4269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How about a real pump/dump coin? on: December 29, 2013, 04:46:11 PM

Yeah, I did see that one. The name though.. Cheesy
4270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin' Hacked, 21 Million Coins Stolen on: December 29, 2013, 04:44:51 PM
This story is so badly reported. Just shows how little the media understand about crypto currency.
4271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [GIVEAWAY][CAT]72.867 CATCOINS! VOTE FOR US ON CRYPTSY![GIVEAWAY][CAT] on: December 29, 2013, 04:43:44 PM
Well there are still 9 prizes of 5+ CAT to give away. So if you win, you get a total of 5.1437 + 0.2143 = 5.358 CAT.

On Coinex right now this would make you 0.00369702 BTC.

With the difficulty rise soon coming, and Cat Coin expecting to hit the 0.001 BTC by then, this coin is worth it just alone for its current value, but even more if you hold on to it.

4272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How about a real pump/dump coin? on: December 29, 2013, 04:37:14 PM
good idea, would like to see that in action just for the lulz

lulzcoin

At least everyone will be on it being a pump and dump. I have no idea how it would behave on an exchange though. The price rise/falls would be insane.
4273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTF? Ecrypto smiling at as for scamming to all? on: December 29, 2013, 04:36:03 PM
It reeked of scam straight from the start. People said "give him the benefit of the doubt", but I knew, as soon as the site had gone down, that was it.

If anyone ever bothered to read the T&Cs, which I did quote when the first thread about Ecrypto came up, it basically amounted to "we'll close at any time without notice".

@ Nullu

My hashrate:650 Kh/s @ AMD 7999

Does seem a bit low. Hard to say though. I gave up mining it 2 days ago on my 250khash/sec when I couldn't even get a single coin mining overnight. Think I mined 0.8 of a CAT.
4275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTF? Ecrypto smiling at as for scamming to all? on: December 29, 2013, 04:27:34 PM
narcissistic anti social prick like wants to rub it in that he scammed some noobs, well should not be too hard to track him down considering he ran a website on the clearnet with domain registration and all and ow yes facebook , thinks he smarter then everybody else because he uses whois privacy

I'm questioning whether his facebook profile is even real. I haven't taken a great look at it, but it didn't look substantial.
probably not, but all it needs is a criminal complaint and scamming people is criminal you know

Has anyone ever been convicted of stealing crypto currency?

4277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How about a real pump/dump coin? on: December 29, 2013, 04:23:30 PM
With all these altcoins coming out on a daily basis now, I'm surprised no one has thought of actually creating a coin designed to be pumped and dumped.

For example; The difficulty increases slowly until the next block target, then the difficulty drops back down to 0; each "pump" would take longer after each block target, as you would need to mine x% more blocks to reach the next difficulty reset.

It's a ridiculous idea, but at least everyone will know it's a pump and dump, when the time to pump is, and when the time to dump is, and every bock halving means the process can start over, albeit more slowly each time. Which should mean bigger pumps and bigger dumps.

You could call it PumpCoin.

Even as a joke coin, I'd be interested to see if A) Anyone would even possibly bother to mine it, and B), if it could ever have any possible value whatsoever. With all the crazy suggestions out there, I just thought I'd throw one out of my own.

At least it'd be somewhat more original than all the copy clones right now.
4278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTF? Ecrypto smiling at as for scamming to all? on: December 29, 2013, 04:14:17 PM
It was a big scam all along? Colour me surprised.

I love the Cat/Doge dynamic on coinedup. I think it's a really good idea to pit the coins against one another.
