4261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from BONK on: January 07, 2023, 09:31:55 PM
I will say this about Bonk… I know a guy who is into crypto. He told me I should put all my BTC into Celsius and that I was a fool for not doing so. He told me that I should dump my BTC and invest in Solana at $200. Recently he messaged me to tell me about the next big thing. You guessed it, BONK. If there’s one thing I’m certain of, it is that BONK is a worthless shitcoin that is going to cost a lot of people a lot of money. My guess is that burned SOL holders will lose the last bit of their money they have left on this nonsense.

Makes me wonder if the Republican party (now in control over the House representatives) will consider to start their own investigation on the events that transpired on Jan 6th 2021.
I personally believe we won't do it, because they will focus on other things they believe to be more important to them, like economy and the energy situation on the USA, preparing to the election of 2024, that is coming sooner than later.

I don’t think it would be very productive. Everyone with common sense already knows there was no invasion. The Feds were there egging people on and the Democrats removed security to allow the “invasion” to happen. If you watch the video the protestors were mostly fighting back against being funneled into “invasion” position. Who I think should be investigating the Feds involved is the family of the only victim that day, who should be suing the shit out of those who ordered the reduction in security and were funneling protestors toward the “invasion.”

Let's see how the Lakers will perform in the game against the Kings.

I would not trust them against the Kings, unfortunately I may not be able to bet on the Kings despite my trust in them because the spread is very high. The spread now is -8.5, although Kings has no doubt would win here, I'm concerned if they can cover the spread.
You're right, I also consider a -8.5 spread relatively high, but basketball is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get lol
I confess, this game between Lakers and Kings will be interesting to watch

The Lakers have a good team, if they manage to make some adjustments, have chemistry with each other, I have no doubt that they can become a competitive team, for us to know that, only time will show us

I’m showing a -9.5 point spread for the Lakers tonight at the moment. I agree that is too large of a spread, especially the way LeBron has been playing. I think the Kings will probably win, but I don’t have faith they’ll cover the spread, so I think I’d take the Lakers on that one (with the spread). Might as well toss the Warriors beating the Magic and the Celtics beating the Spurs in there with a parlay.

I eat lots of beef.

I altered my breakfast.

More beef or pork in the omelets.

Less eggs in the omelets.

More peppers, onions,stringbeans,broccoli,califower.

Same cheese.

I would use 8 jumbo eggs per omelette,I now use four.

I would eat omelette for breakfast and lunch.

It was and still is very low carb thus blood sugar and a1c are stable.

I eat very close to grain free diet.

I also do not eat corn syrup and sugar.

A very small amount of maple syrup. one or two times a week
A small amount of dark chocolate every day.

Walmart sells a decent 16 pack of angus beef 80 percent lean burgers.

I often use a patty in the omelette.

It is about three eggs or $1.50 worth of eggs .

I get a lot of grass feed brisket shipped to my home and slow cook it.

being a diet controlled diabetic is very expensive as you can not eat a ton of cheap food.

I have to limit carrots but I do daily walks and get a lot of sun.

I'm not sure what brought this on, rising prices or a desire to eat healthier.  I feel like for me, the rising cost of groceries has made me embrace restaurants.  I feel like prices haven't made it all the way to sit down restaurants yet and as such they are actually a pretty good deal compared to the usual ratio of groceries to eating out.  So I've been getting a whole lot of doordash delivered and eating out quite a bit.  Bucking that trend, on Tuesday of this week I did cook a pound of bacon and sat around eating it all day with a loaf of freshly baked French bread.  It was honestly a really good day.  Smiley

As for the price of Bitcoin.  I've never felt so bullish over a $150 move upward.  Feels like the trading range just broke and we're about to see a leg up.

Zach LaVine had himself a night in the Bulls win over the 76ers. He shot 11-13 from 3 point range on his way to 41 points. One of the better performances of his career.
I believe the issue inside is already fix. Zach Lavine now are playing like a real superstar, him and DeRozan are very efficient.
These bulls could be in the playoffs, who knows... They are winning games and beating strong teams, unlike in their past games where they struggle a lot.
It's a reborn bulls for me.
Before the start of the season, I was expecting their lineup to be strong enough to compete with the other good east teams. However, the absence of Lonzo Ball is one of the reasons they are not performing well. Lavine was dissatisfied, contemplated a trade, and he was targeting the Lakers. However, he might stay if he can maintain the form he has shown in recent games. This would put them back in the winning column. The Bulls have many games left to enter the playoffs.

The Nets beat the Pelicans in a game that wasn’t so pretty. Durant scored 33 in an uncharacteristically inefficient night. It was Kyrie down the stretch who brought the game home for them though.

If Zion was playing, the result might be different.
I cannot wait to see the Pelicans in full force and see what they can accomplish. They do not have Williamson or Ingram, but McCollum and the rest of the team continue to play at high level.

The Bulls were an odd lineup I think even with Ball, but having him out definitely left a hole in their defense.  It seems like DeRozan and LaVine are somewhat similar players who like to create shots with the ball in their hands.  That usually creates tension when things aren't going well as the other will always want to be the guy taking the shot.  Even when they were all healthy, the Bulls struggled against teams over .500.  I think they're a great regular season team, but don't see them ever doing anything in the playoffs with their roster.  I also don't think DeRozan or LaVine will be there much longer.  Their window closed as quickly as it opened.

Really looking forward to the Brooklyn Nets vs New Orleans Pelicans game tonight on ESPN. A shame that Zion won’t be playing, but we should still get a look at Durant and Kyrie who I feel haven’t gotten many nationally televised games this year. If Zion was also playing I think this would be my favorite game of the year to watch so far. It should still be worth the watch though, but I think without Zion the Nets should be able to take this one.
4268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt Gox Upcoming release of funds to its creditors vs Btc Price on: January 06, 2023, 05:03:03 PM
Another email has been sent out by mtgox. This time pushing the date to register your claim back to March 10th. They’re also pushing back the date for early distributions back from July 31st to September 30th. This ends speculation about a next summer distribution and makes it so that next winter will be the earliest possible date to recover mtgox coins. There’s still plenty of time for this to get pushed back again, but it is feeling like a distribution before the end of 2023 is still a possibility.

Tesla is consistently the highest rated vehicles for safety. Just this week a family of four survived a several hundred foot drop off the side of a cliff in one… I cannot express how much more I trust Elon Musk than opinionated members of an Internet forum when it comes to car safety. I do find it fascinating that I can tell you who you vote for based on your feelings about a car. LOL. So emotional. Tanks don’t come with airbags though. I’m not concerned.
4270  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 06, 2023, 04:38:08 PM
Lakers seem to be getting desperate but still unwilling to make any major moves with their roster. The latest word is that they intend to workout DeMarcus Cousins next week for a possible roster spot. Cousins hasn’t been the same since his injuries, but I’m sure he can still be a productive piece. I’m not sure he’s championship caliber these days, so I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not. It’s definitely not enough to get LeBron to the Finals.
4271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does GPU used on mining is still good? on: January 06, 2023, 03:23:40 AM
My advice would be to either like others have said, allow you a week to test it out, or if that isn’t ok then I would ask him to demonstrate that it will be able to work without issues going forward. I would say to have him download FurMark and run a stress test on the GPU. If it can handle a furmark test, then it’s probably going to be ok and continue running without issues. Hope that helps you out.

Big news of the day for the Cybertruck… It’s being reported that there are no plans to equip the Cybertruck with airbags for passenger safety. Apparently as it stands, passengers are supposed to be protected by the unique design and materials used in the Cybertruck along with seatbelts. I’m sure they’ve done the testing to ensure it’s safe and will pass regulations, but this is something for potential owners to consider who may be accustomed to airbags.

This has to be one of the most stable periods in Bitcoin’s existence. When FTX went down Bitcoin was at $16,850. It’s now sitting at $16,815 and has barely had any movement since then. This signals to me that something big is going on behind the scenes. There has to be some large entity scooping up massive amounts of BTC right now. Maybe this is the reason for the Silbert delay. Seems like a good trade to follow…

This is big news in the far out reaches of what passes as crypto supporters in the community. Mostly these are the kids who are lining up to overpay for Logan’s shorty sports drinks who dumped money into cryptozoo. Personally, I’m shocked he was able to raise a penny after the disaster that was DinkDoink. Anyone familiar with Logan in the crypto space after that should have known to avoid his products. He’s clearly chasing easy money.
4275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: January 05, 2023, 10:11:22 PM
I still haven’t tried this out yet to see how it could work, but I do like all the discussion surrounding it. Personally, I don’t see why using AI would be any different than betting with a newsletter or following someone else’s picks. Who knows, maybe AI would be better. Without trying it out it’s hard to say, but next time I’m messing with ChatGPT I’m definitely going to give it a little test.

I like your guys’ pick of the Memphis Grizzlies, but am a little curious why the odds aren’t longer. I may have to look at the injury report. I also like the Denver Nuggets over the Clippers, which I think will have a better payoff. Hopefully with Paul George out (I think) they’ll have limited minutes for Kawhi and Wall to give the Nuggets an easy ride to the win.

The TNT crew is back in action tonight with a doubleheader. First up we’ve got the Celtics vs Mavericks. Luka has been on fire lately but the Celtics are hanging onto one of the best records in the league, so this should be a close one. Then we’ve got the Clippers vs Nuggets. I believe Paul George may be out with a sore ankle, which will make it tough on the Clippers since the Nuggets have been on fire lately. Still two good games to watch. Smiley
4278  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who thinks DCG / Genesis / Grayscale / Barry are bad actors? on: January 05, 2023, 04:04:29 PM
Wondering what everything here thinks of the FTX and Genesis situation?

I think it's clear that there's been a lot of dishonesty surrounding Genesis and their earn program.  Everyone is trying to pass the buck, but it seems to be landing on Barry.  A lot of promises were made about liquidity and who was holding what BTC, and now nobody seems to know what happened.  It seems clear to me that they built a product that was unsustainable with the legal protection of being able to make money while not having to hold customer funds responsibly.  The next couple of days should shed some light on what is going to happen, but I don't have much faith in Grayscale to do anything except what makes them the most money by screwing their customers the hardest.
4279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 05, 2023, 10:31:55 AM
I was surprised to see the Lakers pull out a win over the Miami Heat. Without LeBron James in the lineup you had to figure the Heat would win easily but that wasn’t the case. Schroeder stepped up and scored 32 to lead them. Adebayo and Butler had big games for the Heat also, but it wasn’t enough for them to get the win as they lost by 3, 109-112 Lakers.
4280  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What makes Countries More Powerful Than Others on: January 05, 2023, 12:52:34 AM
GDP and military strength are the only two metrics that matter.

Military strength essentially being how many nuclear weapons you have. Normally the world wouldn't take a country like Russia seriously because their economy was failing for years under Putin and their military was weak -- only such problem being they had more nukes than any other country in the world so we're forced to look at Russia as if they have power.

Those are definitely 2 metrics that matter, but I wouldn’t say the only two. Especially now as inflation is extremely high and countries are debasing their currencies. I would argue that maybe more important than GDP is access to natural resources. If a country has an abundance of resources that they are willing to access, other countries will bend over backwards to get their hands on them…
