4261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Living on Bitcoin Alone! (CNN Money) What Do You Think? on: November 11, 2014, 08:20:57 PM
A lot of people have similar projects. It get's easier all the time.

I would love it if you guys were making these arguments to people who will decide. It would be much easier to make the case for non-regulation if there were letters to congressmen coming in every day. That is not happening.  Not a single one of them will read this.
I think it would also be a welcomed addition to our efforts to have another (perhaps more radical) organization. One that disagrees with the BF on issues. That would be great! Hell I might even fund that also. But all I see happening outside of the foundation is people whining to each other and making up shit.

My efforts are local, not the NYC stuff. I increasingly do it myself and I keep it secret because I do not want any of the crazies poisoning the well. Like I said, this is happening no matter what. You can lead, follow, or get out of the way.
4263  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Consciousness and Quantum Physics on: November 11, 2014, 06:28:19 PM
That new age stuff is garbage. But... There is an interesting theory to connect consciousness with quantum states. It's real science from Stuart Hameroff and Roger Penrose. This work is early and will change as more is known, however they are proposing that life itself is a quantum phenomena and linked to consciousness. It's the best theory so far to explain living things.

If he fails on this the internet as you know it is dead. This is the freedom fight of our lives and hardly anyone understands why.

This is my wife's rape whistle.

You guys can say what you want. I know what I know because I am directly involved. The meetings that will decide the laws concerning bitcoin are happening now. I don't understand how you think it is better to let people with zero knowledge decide for you. And spend your time infighting? You are the banks best friend in this.

There is just something cultural in the bitcoin community about being superstitious and resistant to any organized anything. That opinion will not stop the train and I think we are loosing the regulation battle at the moment. We have only one shot at this. Once laws are passed, overturning them is unlikely.

Will I be rich soon ?

Smart purchase imo
Just don't forget your passwords lol and don't leave them with any third party exchange or wallet services for any reason

I got them on block chain ? Are they safe ?

Do you mean on Blockchain.info?

yes

I think that is to much to trust anyone with. Consider that you don't really know the people who are holding over $36,000 of your money. If they disappeared tomorrow, how would you recover any funds? And if they are robbed, they likely will not have any money to pay you back.

A better option is to set up a client wallet on a safe computer, and do it while not connected to the internet. Once it is installed you can generate a wallet and some receiving addresses. When that is done take out the wallet.dat file. I would make several copies and put one in a safe deposit box, mail one to your Aunt in another state, and bury one on property you own.

Now when you restart your bitcoin client software it will generate a new wallet with no funds. You can run this wallet to keep synced with the network. Without funds, it is safe.  Since you were not online when you made the first wallet, it has never been on the internet and can also be considered safe. Any BTC sent to the addresses you made will go to your offline wallet even though it is not online. You can check the balance by checking the receiving address at blockchain.info. All addresses can be checked this way.

If you want to spend your BTC. just drop in the offline wallet and restart the client. There is your money! Spend some then take out that wallet and put it back in storage. You may want to keep a spending wallet with a small balance that is easy to access. I do store some with a website so I can buy stuff with my mobile phone. My system is to keep the balance smaller than the value of the phone. If that money is stolen or hacked, oh well, at least i have not lost much.
4269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stuxnet and bitcoin... on: November 11, 2014, 03:43:59 PM
I think Stux could be modified to do something like this. There would be a lot of ways to counter it however. The stux worm released on Iran was very sophisticated and was able to ferret out specific types of equipment. But why bitcoin?

Central banks wish to eliminate any threat to them at any cost to humanity.
They may want to eliminate bitcoin, but launching an attack like this has almost no chance of remaining secret. Once discovered, the damage to the bank would far outweigh the tiny advantage of hurting bitcoin for a limited time. It would be wildly illegal and require destroying thousands and thousands of mining machines and routers. They will be completely responsible for those damages and any lost revenue. Their settlement would run into the billions. And all they would gain is to suppress bitcoin for a short time.

It should not be news around here. Unless Bruno is on your ignore list, you probably know of his crackpotedness.  Roll Eyes

Ebola has dropped off the media map. Elections are obviously over.
4273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT GIVE THE GOVERNMENT ANY INFORMATION ABOUT BITCOIN on: November 10, 2014, 06:33:59 PM
NOBODY IN THE GOVERNMENT WANTS TO HEAR WHAT I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT BITCOIN ANYWAY. WHY ARE WE ALL YELLING?

BECAUSE OTHERWISE I CAN'T HEAR YOU THROUGH THE 'SERIES OF TUBES' THAT MAKE UP THE INTERNET.

RODGER THAT, OVER.
4274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT GIVE THE GOVERNMENT ANY INFORMATION ABOUT BITCOIN on: November 10, 2014, 06:29:19 PM
Or maybe I just ate too much peyote one night (and, happily, decided to read bitcointalk instead of write some code).

At least you didn't code all night. I can only imaging the errors that would introduce. lol
4275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Destroy Bitcoin Foundation? on: November 10, 2014, 06:26:01 PM
I am basing my statements on what I have been told by regulators that I personally talked with. I assure you guys that they are not going to entertain rants from the internet. They will listen to individual opinions only if they get a huge number of emails or a lesser number of snail-mail letters. But mostly they listen to lobbyists. Some of it is just for reasons of practicality. For example, they may schedule a meeting to talk about bitcoin with elected officials. Could you fly to Washington D.C. to make that meeting next week? I can't. So I pooled my money with others at the foundation to hire a pro to represent our opinions about not regulating bitcoin. They will hear my voice, but will they hear yours?
4276  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Christian BS on: November 10, 2014, 06:11:19 PM
If God designed us, why did he do such a shitty job? There are all sorts of ways to improve our bodies and all sorts of parts that are far inferior to our human technology.
4277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is up and people are like... on: November 10, 2014, 05:48:23 PM
Up / Down... Whatever, I never fail to profit. Tonight I will spend the bitcoin I bought at $340. With bitcoin I basically live life at a discount. lol
4278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Destroy Bitcoin Foundation? on: November 10, 2014, 05:44:52 PM
I don't think bitcoin is going anywhere except legislative death without a lobby group. A lot of people think the government should do this or that, they do not hear you and are not interested in listening. They do however listen to lobbyists. It's not cool, but that is the way it is. I am aware of no other effort to provide guidance to the government in regulating bitcoin.

Make no mistake, there are new laws coming. The only question is whether they will be made with input from the bitcoin community or just made up by regulators who don't even understand it. Here in the U.S. that is the greatest threat to bitcoin.

Hey at least money is a god I can prove exists.
4280  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin to paypal on: November 07, 2014, 09:23:01 PM
I understand that part, but soon im launching a site where you sell your coins with and receive cash through paypal, going to be instant, 60seconds max delay, minimum 3 usd so you can then up to 600, a limit of 5 btc per a day
Sounds like you already know then. Interesting project, I hope you make a million! (a million bitcoins that is!)
