Damn.... 21,249.80 BTC in the last block.

How many s3s have these guys built??. you would think sold out would be up already with that volume

4.6ph = 4600 x 1 th = 10,000 s-3's

The figure comes from  their mining pool as it grew by 4.6ph in the last 15 days or so.

I think I will buy 3.

BTW btc is up to 618 usd.

Now since I purchased 2.25 btc at 560 usd specifically to buy these.

Should:

 I tell myself they cost  me  .75 x 560 usd = 420

Or should I tell myself they cost me .75 x 618 = 463.50

Hey   s1gs3gv

how should I do cost basis?
42609  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 11:53:18 AM
1000$ would be too high, 1-1.2 Btc would be fair at this market.

That is just some guy who sells his gear on amazon, and he speculates on the price, or am i missing something?

Honestly, I do not know. It says by Bitmain... On the other hand, why would he post first on amazon....

FundaMiner is the seller of that gear.  He just listed it put long shipping time.  Will take your 1000 buy the miner when it drops on the bitmaintech site and pocket what he hope is 200 or more dollars
42610  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 not reporting on one blade- Will tip on: June 30, 2014, 04:30:58 AM
Have you try to factory reset? I hate that. I had that problem when I first got it. Then hard reset for me was done; it fixed the problem. I did this by pressing the black button on your controller. You can also do a factory reset from the main menu in the router.... I.e. The web address that you give the miner.

he did mention he reset it.

1) the reset

2) the reboot via gui  software

3) the power cycle    hard reboot  last choice

btw op I don't want the tip  as months ago someone helped me with my first s-1 and refused a tip.  So this is my attempt  at paying it forward.
42611  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 not reporting on one blade- Will tip on: June 30, 2014, 04:23:38 AM
Try disconnecting then reconnecting the cable that goes from the controller board to each blade. I had one shipped to me with one of these cables loose and it made it appear initially as if one of the blades was non-responsive. Re-seating the cables brought the second blade back to life.

1. Turn off
2. Redo cables
3. Turn on
4. Cross fingers.

don't do it this way.   this is last resort .

can't find a shot with system   this is one with network  go to the left of network    and click system  then click the reboot option

42612  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 not reporting on one blade- Will tip on: June 30, 2014, 04:18:45 AM
sign on to the miner  pass word root.  sounds like you can do that.  give me a second I will find a screen shot

I am on status upper left  you go next to it { system ]  click that then find reboot.
42613  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] NEW USB MINER - 11-15 Gh/s NANO FURY 6 USB MINER, **$99.99** on: June 30, 2014, 01:26:52 AM
1) how much power does one use if I clock it at freq 40?
2) how much will it hash at freq 40?

Those that at 54-56 bits do 12-16GH now at speed 40 do 6.9-8.2GH.

I'll have to separately set up the rig to measure the current consumption but I'd guesstimate it to be in the 0.7-0.9A.

3) will it use  bfg 3.99  like the 2 chip ones you sold me?

You can most likely use the same version, but I would recommend upgrading to 4.0.0 as there were a few bugfixes and tweaks in between.

thanks I was trying to figure  if I could get better then 1 watt a gh on an underclock.   so it  looks like they don't save a lot of power on the lower  clocks.

I asked because I run a few  2x fury sticks at bitsolo.net
42614  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The last Batch of AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner, Now $1790 per unit on: June 30, 2014, 01:22:31 AM
So, my S2 I got recently hasn't been running smoothly. After some testing and experimenting it now runs stable with 9 blades. With 10 blades I could get it to run about 12hrs at 1th before it started dropping hashrate. If I then restarted the miner process some blades would show up as bad or with x's and I would only be getting 700gh+. With 9 blades, it's running smoothly at 900gh/s for 24hrs+. The one card I removed has only a faulty temp sensor. Does anyone know where it's located on the blade? Or is it inside the chips?

I think the PSU is the problem but don't know 100% yet.
That 100Gh loss is gonna suck for people with say like 10 of these and 4 blades removed with 4 weirded out machines. Although, if you got 10 of these and 4 are having issues then I'd start looking at Bitmain.

frankly I never purchased one ,but based on hundreds of posts I would say run 9 blades.  In the long run it may be better.

1) less  hardware  errors
2) it will run longer without dying
3)  you could sell a  blade as a repalcement on ebay
4)  you kind of need cheap power or better  btc usd price to make out.------------if you get this having the machine run trouble free on 9 blades for 5 months vs crashing and burning on 10 blades after 3 months  may be the better choice.
42615  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 not reporting on one blade- Will tip on: June 30, 2014, 01:15:22 AM
sounds like a reboot may change it back to normal. is the light flickering on each blade?
42616  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 01:13:23 AM
Look this is a thread about bitmain tech gear.

Indeed. And we were discussing the S3 price. Someone, i don't remember who, started talking about how the ROI outlook was more optimistic than the calculators indicated because of the great prices they could get on ebay for their old unprofitable gear and about how valuable they were as heaters.

Was that you Phillip ?

you are correct yes it was me that said that.  along with the fact that for some  ebay buyers  an s-3 in October   will work for them as a space heater.

and that they may get it at a further discount if they have ebucks.

So selling them  a piece of gear (in this case an s-3)  that does not roi in btc , but gives them a discount on their heating bill is not an unethical act.

But like I said I am talking about a method of sales for s-3's   that will clearly show the heating discount the machine gives them.

So I am awaiting one to see if the idea can be marketed .  I gave the idea to bitmaintech months ago and told them they were free to run with it.

I am curious to see if the s-3 is what I explained in an older thread.  If it is the s-3 will prove to be far better then most can imagine.
42617  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 29, 2014, 11:13:48 PM

The buy and sell on ebay is valid and ethical.

Well, I don't want to go too far off-topic and start arguing with you about all the opportunistic thugs operating some of the larger on-line markets and payment services, but if you are selling equipment to people for more money than you know it can mine then you are taking advantage of them. I'm sure there are exceptions amongst people who have free electricity. With respect to use of S1 and S3 machines as heaters, its an interesting idea but the case for their deployment really depends on an explosion of BTC/fiat exchange rates that may or may not occur. That is a subject which is probably topic-worthy but in a different thread.

I disagree. Ebay is a reasonable way to judge a paypal-priced value for things, and for people who have no BTC and have no way to easily get BTC paying a 10%+ premium via ebay/paypal is not terrible.

and even if the equipment stops being profitable in 5 months with a $600/BTC, if prices jump to $1000 you can suddenly get another 2 months use and quite likely make a profit. You need to look at the value of the mining equipment both in terms of current market conditions as well as how the market may be in 6 months from now, or a year form now.

If BTC went up to $2000 during July, even the 7w/GH BFL equipment would start coming back online again and making small profits

Well sure. But if the seller thought this was likely to happen it is unlikely they'd be selling their equipment on ebay.

Look this is a thread about bitmain tech gear.
I have sold all but 3 s-1's  in order to be ready for new s-3's.

I am not here to argue  about ebay and ethics.

I am here to talk about s-3's.  I plan to run 1 s-3 in house and to upgrade my remaining s-1's .  I eagerly await the s-3 .  I hope to be able to make the purchase soon.

I also hope for btc price  run up in the fall.

I also have both mining gear and coins.  In anticipation of the fall price run up.

So, delivery still delayed?

My S1 need a lil' bro with more GH/s  Grin

well my last 3 s1's will soon roi in btc .  they have done so in usd.

bought when? i calculated ~20-25% ROI in BTC on march batch, plus positive $$ on resale(~$50-70 ea) after considering cost of electricity and power supplies.
Late april S1s-almost ROI in BTC (they are still hashing)
what are ebucks?

I sent a pm explaining ebucks  .

I will find my purchase id for the 3.  s-1's

the order was done on may 19  coins were low  .    I will find the tx id

Hello miners,

My undervolt using 10K potentiometers in parallel with the smd resistors...

Used double-side tape under the potentiometers and soldered directely to the PCB.
Easy way to adjust voltage.

rgds,
m

if you have the skill set to do the work it is the best way.

I wonder if the new s-3's will be reducible to  .5 or .6 watts from the .78 watts .

obvious that we are talking about doing thus mod in 3 or 4 months. not right now
