That's less that what I earned / block on slush pool with just 200 GH/s(0.00206662 btc reward / block more less). that must be wrong. ... or not ?

How long ago was that?

few days ago.

right now then how much more less / block for 400 GH/s? well i will just wait and see once i have 10 shifts..

I have 416 with bitminter and 20 days at that number I get. .00858 a block

42622  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 25, 2014, 11:22:22 AM
fyi I disagree with the difficulty estimate.  I don't trust any site, I do my own calculations based on data from blockchain.info.  I'm seeing a current difficulty increase of 23.9% to 16,676,044,930.66.

Current time between blocks is 8.07 mins.

Change is slated to occur around 7:10 ET on 6/29.

M

I look at bitcoin wisdom and bitcoin charts      and I find   that 3 days out bitcoin wisdom is always high and bitcoin chart is always low.

 right now

bitcoin wisdom says 17.4 29%

bitcoin charts says   16.2  20.3 %

I am certain    29% is too high and 20.3% is too low      add and average you get about 24.65%

You don't have enough icons on your desktop.

Where else would one put their .pdf's?

my mind is cluttered as my desktop it is very difficult to keep track of it all.

maybe one day I will end my hoarding ways.

Meanwhile try and guess  how many emails are in my oldest email account?

I will give you .010 btc if you do.

this is at just the two of you 1 guess each.  must be perfect  guess and 1 hint well over 5000.

Edit

No guesses oh well.

7324

ha! I have 15496 and that just the unread emails in my inbox not including subfolders.

EDIT: and no, my desktop does not look like that!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEdiC-W4L7c

It is a vmfusion issue as I am running an older version what happens is if I alter the desktop while I am in   mac os I break the icon in windows 7.

So the mac desktop stay clean and the windows desktop then has icon that can't be deleted or moved.

I have 28000 plus email in my oldest yahoo account

any ideas on deletion  of the  pdf icons are welcome

42624  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: any. thoughts on bit solo mining pool on: June 25, 2014, 04:22:15 AM
Came across this site was wanting to solo mine my s1 there if I can can ever get it running(long story)they claim to give the founder of a block the full 25 minus transaction fees for pool as well they are merged mining namecoin and keeping any name coin found for keeping pool up and running

If you are talking about the solo pool set up by Ozcoin, They are legit.

He's not, he's talking about this:
http://bitsolo.net/

Oh, i thought he meant solopool.net. This is why people need to be clear about what they are asking. We can't read minds.

Solo mining is really nothing more then using your machine as a lottery ticket unless you have a significant portion of the network hashrate.

wrong so very wrong but not completely wrong..  a lottery ticket pays terrible odds.   3 digit number should pay 1000 to 1 most lottery 3 digit numbers pay at 500 to 1.

if you are using any gear at 1.6 watts per gh  it is like getting 1060 to 1   on a 3 digit number  .   pretty accurate estimate for today.

the problem is you use 10 gh or 30 gh and  it is like only having 1 to 3 numbers out of the 1000 numbers so most likely you lose.

most of us can't buy enough tickets and pool with many other ticket holders  and since the overall payout is 1200 to 1 on a 1000 to one shot we all profit.

Any one that says playing 10gh  in solo mining is like playing a lottery ticket is missing the fact  that the solo mining pays at a much higher rate then a lottery ticket.

A truly huge fact  that  is why a good clean easy to use solo pool should be part of every miners pools.  Especially a smaller miner.

I mine 10gh   at solopool.net  .  I never think it will  hit a block.  but It costs under 16 watts to do this.

which means every day for 6 cents of power I can hit blocks.

Show me where for 6 cents  getting a 15000 prize (600 x 25 = 15000) is possible.   todays odds of 1 block found for me = about 67,000 to one.

I spent 6 cents for that chance      since 67,000 x 6 cents =  about 4000 usd .

my payoff should be  only 4k if I hit the block  my payoff would be around 15000 usd.

so 4000 usd  vs 15000 usd

seems simple  solo mine is better.  well you have to hit the block for the benefit of the higher payoff.

I also was a little bit misleading.

Since I said I spent 6 cents   to have the chance at the blocks  true,  but if I pool mined the 10gh

I would have collected about 22 cents  so my real money spent is :

22 cents a day for a shot at 15000 usd.

that comes to a 68,181 to one payoff for something that should pay about 67,000

No lottery ticket overpays like that.

good analysis. A lottery ticket would be if you used your gpu.

yes you would be playing a 4 digit number and getting around 2000 to one .

actually worse but you get the idea.

merged pools are like 1000 guys playing a number  000 to 999  and agreeing to split the 1100 payoff.  thus a guarantee of a profit .

right now if your miner does pretty low watts it is okay to toss some hash at a solo pool.

BTW supposedly someone hit a block at bitsolo.net

Right now I felt a bit lucky  and I am running 210gh at bitsolo.net.

I am spending 250watts to do it.  I will do this until diff adjusts in 4 or 5 days.    my cost will be 6kwatts a day or about 1 dollar a day that is 5 bucks.  I will miss about 4.46 a day in earnings  that is 22 usd plus 5 usd total of 27 dollars spent  for a chance at 1 or more blocks in the next 5 days.  each day I do this for

the next  5 days my chance of 1 block  is about 3200 to 1

5 days would be 640 to one chance of a block   I pay 27 dollars         so 640 x 27 = 17280  would be exactly even payoff .   right now a block is around 14500

so you say  14500 out of 17280 is not   like 1100 to one for a 1000 to one 3 digit number  so I am wrong.

Well I could hit 2  or 3  or 4   or many more blocks    ………

640 to 1 for one block   1280 to one for 2 blocks

that is what makes the math not so bad to do solo mining.  every once in a while with gear that is better then the power it spends.

A   usb stick is okay if it does 1.8gh for 3 watts or so.

So a fury stick or an antminer u-1 is fine to use.

a be is like getting bad odds
  a gpu is really bad.

An undervolted/underclocked  antminer s-1 for all the fall and winter  as long as you want that heat  would most likely be okay on a statistical basis.

That  does not mean you hit a block but the math says it is okay.  Since you get some heat out of the deal it is not such a bad move.

S-1s would actually not be so bad.  Especially if fiat goes up a bit.

I have 6 r-boxes and 10 usb sticks  hash is 210gh power is 260 watts

I had mine arrive on June 23rd DOA.

Plug it in after digging around for a power cord that would fit.

From the previous posts above it seems like a bunch of the lights on the board are supposed to come on, as one would expect. I have 2 blue  solid lights, a spinning fan and nothing else. Ethernet seems to blink but neither using the static IP the documentation mentions ( 192.168.0.180-199, wtf?) nor DHCP seems to work.

do an ip search   there are some free ip search programs.

keep the old fan where it is  let it  blow into the unit   add the new delta to the empty end let it [b/]suck out of the unit[/b]

always let the weaker fan blow in  the stronger fan suck out  ..

if you look at my photos the oem fan stayed in place and it is a 110-120cfm fan

my add on fan is a 140 delta ..

see the pipe cleaners  with spacers to hold the new fan.

in this photo the weaker oem fan never moved  it blows in.  the stronger delta sucks out...     see how i powered the delta.  piggyback on the screw in power supply.

it is a full speed 24/7  plug them uncut new fan into this

i got some of these cheap and cut them

Here are my conclusions:

  • purchased 1800 dollars worth of hardware.
  • in less than 60 days - one of the blades actually died from burning out the ferrite bead
  • the other 3 blades (I have two units) no do not work for whatever reason.  [no matter which psu i use they refuse to load up like there is no power]
  • ZH tells me " no warranty - no refurbished units available " just a discount for new merchandise since my 'new' merchandise happened to fail just after the warranty period.

Take your own conclusions from my experience.

I am doing well with 5 units I had a replaced as it was 1 good board 1 slow board.      So I handled 12 boards 11 good one slow.

I have to say this  I use a seasonic platinum psu  very high quality power.

http://www.amazon.com/SeaSonic-ATX12V-Platinum-PLATINUM-1200-SS-1200XP3/dp/B00JG5LSN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1403654789&sr=8-1&keywords=seasonic+platinum+1200

I use pcie to dc jack cables  very high quality .

 I run at freq 800.

my sample of 6 pieces are spaced about 5 days each.  11/12 good boards = 91.6%

I will continue to post here and talk when the sixth one comes and when the seventh one comes.

Not the greatest size or sample but it has come from 5 different batches. I am waiting on tracking for the 6th one.

If they are already mining with the gear then the Network speed will be unaffected as the devices are already currently contributing to the network difficulty regardless of who has them plugged in you or them. I would believe that the delay is more likely an issue of the devices need to have firmware changes after issues were observed in post production testing.

okay.   I am not saying you are wrong.     but does anyone understand what I said?

Diff is 13.46      and there is 100ph of hash.    The day diff is moved to 13.46    2160 blocks are started..  and they should take 10 minutes to solve that is why the diff was moved to 13.46
this happened about 1300 block ago.

So 2 major builders not one announced and then delayed gear.  If it really works and they are 'test' mining  at diff of 13.46   it explains why the block speed is 7.42 blocks per hour not 6 blocks an hour.  they added  a lot of gear not a little bit of gear.  and speed the network from 10 minutes per block to 7.42 minutes per block.

this edge ends when  diff is jumped to 16.2 or so  reducing the block speed back down to 10 minutes.

So we get the gear and it earns less.    Someone has added enough hash to change speed from 10 minutes to 7.42 minutes..  Anyone that wants to think it is not bitmaintech + AM could be correct.

Sp30's and KNC and BFL could be doing it.    If that is the case it is far worse then my idea.   Since AM and bitmaintech added to that will mean 3 rounds of 25%

oh one more player black arrow has gear shipping the x-1 so they may have built and are testing the x-3's.

Fact is since the last diff jump tons and tons of gear has been added.

Regardless of the profit wisdom to mine before you sell, philipma1957 is correct.  An enormous amount of hardware has come on line in the past 5 days or so.  I have no way of knowing for sure, but given the block speed I would guess it's very likely more than one company.

Ah in the end for a guy like me if I want to mine at home it is not going to  be BTC.

Right not it looks like gridseed blades add 1 a week . and wait for something to break good in the btc market.

This wait for the s-3 and wait for the rk-box timing hand in hand has set me back a bit. I have to wonder what does it mean.

They delayed the launch.

yes as they are mining at the lower diff rate.     this is an edge that only huge asic builders can do.

very simple.  the exact day diff jumps put out 20 percent more gear then the entire network has..  mine that gear at the current diff for 10 to 11 days  then release it to us.

so they mine 20 to 30ph at 13.7   we get it and the network is 16.2   .  figure out how much that is? it is 1100btc a day for 10 to 11 days.  or 11000 to 12000 btc.

this happens as I type .  it is AM and Bitmaintech combined.      what is that in usd  6.6 million dollars.

The rich get richer.

Stupid conspiracy theory from people that haven't even spent 5min to work out that it's far more profitable to keep shipping the boxes out the door than to mine with them. Once upon a time when you could make 0.3BTC per day off 32watss with a BFL Jalapeno it was worth running a mining farm but not anymore.

An S2 makes what 0.037 per day, and selling it makes 3.131 BTC, when you can sell all you can make, go do the math.

  you do the math.

they do what I say for one   11 day period then sell the gear.   they make more money my way then your way.  but you can stick to your beliefs and I will stick to mine.

No need to  call the theory stupid.  If it is correct when they release the gear and sell it to us.  The next diff will be small  since the gear they mined with will be in transit to us.  This has happened time and time again.  why wouldn't  they mine with the gear (s3's).  when this edge is a given provable fact.
You do understand the edge only exists for that 1 diff period? And that they have run farms already.

Wait until 2016.  It will turn around when the 1/2 comes.  Hopefully by then a lot of the big players will be marginalized.  Of course 2016 is the equivalent of a century away in BTC terms  Cheesy

The half should be interesting.  As for long term mining in house  not that easy to do.

I have supplemented mining by selling off gear on ebay far quicker then  the op has done. My cubes sold in Jan.

I set the buyer up he made some coin and he sold them in feb.   fast turnover or die.  If you held and mined most any gear other then a perfectly timed jupiter purchase you got killed.

I have about 210gh in house and a hosted 1th miner in china along with 3 s-1's in a friends office.  the s-1's cost use 3.5 to 4 cents a k-watt  under volt under clocked  and they  have roi'd in fiat due to the btc price jump from 420 usd to 586 usd.   They won't do btc roi until july 30th.  That is with my lower power rates.

I been looking at getting into mining as a hobby, yes hobby. I do not want to sink a ton of money in it. But I would like to make a couple of bitcents just in case it "goes to the moon" lmfao

I was looking at a couple of products online I kinda like the antminer what do you guys think for a hobby miner?

Is this ad legit its from amazon, is that a good price? I do not trust reviews due to what I have read about BFL

I have one left I can sell it to you for 10 bucks.   It is only worth 10  dollars as a teaching tool.   Or as a so called cheap lottery ticket  as you could run it in a solo mining pool and win 15000 usd in btc.   odds are very low you win, under 1 chance in 40,000 if you mine there for a day with one stick.

hey all

i am new to the forum and have a question as it seems there are much brighter people on this forum than myself.

would you purchase mining hardware (60TH total) and mine or invest that money and just purchase Bitcoin?

i can get the hardware hosted near me in Wa State at a rate of $290 per 6th.

i just paid off my debt and have roughly $40k leftover to invest in this type of endeavor.

appreciate your input,

S

okay  I recommend a multi prong attack.

40k for 60th is a monster amazing stone cold bargain .

Buy the gear sell half  and host the other half.

You could sell 30th for 30 to 35 k   no worries.      this means  you have 30th for under 10k.    just mine the 30th. and pay the 290 x 5 = 1500 a month to host.     you roi in under 30days.

hold those mined coins for 1 year and then decide if you want to sell them.

42636  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How do we solve the 51% problem, an open invitatiion for ideas and suggestions on: June 24, 2014, 07:34:38 PM
There should be a 51% attack.  That would cause Bitcoin prices to temporarily plummet, so I can buy in cheap, then when the price recovers I can profit out and gain lots of money! Grin

Greed trumps rationale?  Huh

If a concerted 51% attack occurs BTC would most likely not recover.  There are other coins that have more resistance to this type of attack.  BTC had adoption working for it, once the safety of decentralization is gone trust would be needed - only fools would trust a crypto backed by some company that mines.  Would you lend BFL, KNC, Cointerra, Hashfast or AMT your entire crypto?

yeah it is about greed.  but most miners do not understand the math of mining so leading them to water is of no use they would not drink it.

Most miners would not want an easy solo mine option   offered from a large pool since they don't understand the mathematics .

Why did you put this thread in "Securities"? You should move it to "Meta".

Look over in "Speculation", there are a couple threads there about the feds' auction.

I could not find the speculation section..   I did not want to say hey I can't find an entire section!  makes me look really f'ing stupid or drunk or some dumb shit thing. LOL

In fact I read your post and I still can't find it.

The latest is the Notice of Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Case, Meeting of Creditors, & Deadlines letter from the US Bankruptcy Court was just received. We dropped the TRO to proceed in CA.

We're going to be an official creditor in this case. Your guess is as good as mine as to what we're going to get out of this. We may be lucky to see 50 cents on the dollar let alone a full BTC refund if the situation's as bad as it looks.

In case you missed the article: http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-mining-manufacturer-hashfast-enters-chapter-11-bankruptcy/

Oh well half a loaf is better then none

It is   good to see you making a post on this thread

I missed you from this part of the forum.

Sorry, Phil.

I was so depressed to see this whole model collapse thanks to delay after delay and lies to all of us miners. The trolling made me sick to my stomach to even think of stopping by and the last straw was PG dragging my kid into our pissing match about nada since he never even bought from us. I'm at peace though with the fact that a grown man that would do such a thing and stalk another grown man must have some diagnosed or undiagnosed mental issues.

As for having to deal with the fallout of the delays and flat out lies to us involved with the reassurances coming out of HashFast and Bitmine. I really hate to be in the middle and I still get asked for refunds even though I haven't controlled R17 refunds (or most Round refunds) for a while, in our division of labor, and checks/balances.

Anyway, I'm out of BTC mining entirely. Only mining x11 w/ one GPU and Scrypt with a couple Blizzards.

Trying to be positive after taking some time to recharge...still excited about Bitcoin and the crypto economy in general...not so stoked about how centralized and greedy its become. Cex.io takes 44% annual fees and somehow it's the dominant pool? Wow. I don't get it, sorry.

Well I do more ltc with gridseed blades then anything else.

reasons are:
I can buy them with a paypal cc.
 I know they work.
They are not really bad power users. ===  under 90 watts with a plat psu.
I can make them quiet with a quality Noctua fan.

I will most likely stay with them for the summer.
Hold some btc hold some ltc and hope for the best.
