Are you trolling?

You can't buy pot this way because you would buy the right to buy pot... and not pot directly. It is not a shop but an exchange.

Also you only buy an IOU. Like a share is....

Yes you need to trust bitstamp to redeem it, but the exchange of those tokens is trustless

I wasn't trolling Smiley Why can't I buy pot by redeeming pot asset-- just like bitcoin would be redeemed by bitstamp?

The seller issues a pot asset. I buy it (with some amount of nxt).  Then I "redeem" it and the sellers mails me the pot (I have to send him my address but that's between me and the seller).

Because it is retarded (sry). If i want to sell pot, i want to know when money comes in and when i have to send out something. Why would i issue tokens so that someone can buy those and then redeem them anytime they want? Also what if i only want to sell a good for a limited time?

A marketplace like bitmit or silkroad makes much more sence...

You get dividends

So if the company makes profit, they pay some of the profit to their asset holders?. As nxt is decentralized anonymous with no govt involvement, there is  no legal framework and checks and balances to insure the "company" isn't lying.

I don't think it's going to do anything for nxt (short to long term --- nxt needs to be at least at bitcoin level in popularity before even a semi-legitimate business like a gambling company) would issue such asset. I won't buy it still.

Lets move on.

And let's say you want to trade BTC/NXT, who do you trust more, the blockchain + a gateway or a site like cryptsy?
You will be able to trade BTC/NXT on the asset exchange.

Also, luckily most people here see the extreme advantages of an asset exchange, the little number of people who doubt the concept don't matter.

That's not dividend. I am getting a commodity in return (bitcoin) right away. This is different.

please catch up what the word asset means.

Thank you

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asset

I asked if I can use asset  exchange to buy a commodity like pot, and someone said no. A bitcoin is a commodity.

By the way, this isn't trustless as I will have to trust bitstamp that they will send me real bitcoin if I buy their asset.

but what is the real advantage?

There are way better solutions for decentralised hosting.

who in this community has the technical skills to help me build a forum ontop of the nxt blockchain? preferably someone who isnt enormously busy with another useful project. ill pay.

I don't really like the idea. This way posts would only be updated roughly every 60 seconds and also the blockchain would get stuffed.

You get dividends and if the company gets evaluated higher you participate in price gains

have you ever heard of the stock/commodity market?
how can you get dividends?

This will be implemented (if i am not wrong) either with a tool or with a multioutput transaction
4289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 22, 2014, 07:10:02 PM

What do you mean?    Lets say I want buy pot. ( i take the risk of getting scammed).

Give me a solution to use either asset or digital goods infrastructure to do so.

There is no solution so far...

Ok, then I misunderstood "asset" exchange and I take everything back I said about it.  You can have unique names all you want.  It's crap and I doubt it's worth that much pages of discussion.

It's not going to do anything for nxt. It basically will encourage ponzi schemes. I issue an "asset" and tell you to buy it and sell it to next person for higher price. The next person buys it and sells it to next person even higher.

This is worth nothing unless I can trade it for something real.

Too many pages of discussion on something that will never pickup (not in the next 2 or 3 years)

congratulations on "not getting it". if all those pages of discussion weren't enough than only time will be able to sort this one out. some day you will "get it" you will just have to see the applications with your own eyes. (granted there will probably be 100 scams for every 1 legitimate use but thats neither here nor there, the 1% that are legit are going to change the world)

I don't believe any "legitimate" company is going to issue a "virtual" asset anytime soon on nxt (if it al). It's really worth nothing if I can't  trade  it for something real.

Why would I buy any asset next month when it's live on real blockchain?

every gambling company in the world?
the mobile application company nxt?
a fiat gateway?
a cryptocoin gateway?

So I bought an asset issued on nxt blockchain by a gambling company. What cam I do with it?

I think the digital good store could be the place to go. Let's wait how it will look like.

CfB - ETA?

im confused why its a digital goods store and not just a goods store

Actually it is quite clever, they want to make it that you pay and it immediately releases the digital good to you.

For example someone wants 5 NXT for a picture of beyonce getting fucked from behind.
Then you pay and immediately the network releases this picture to you. (don't know how yet)

it is trustless!

thats super awesome!

so then that means i do in fact want to start my own project. i want to build a bitmit type service on top of the nxt blockchain. would anyone be interested in this? i would probably be willing to pay up to 100,000 nxt to get it done right the way i want it though im not sure if i would need to pay that much. ill have to do some more research. we need a new bitmit and bitmit_2.0 may as well be built onto of a blockchain that way we dont ever have to worry about it going anywhere like the last one.

this would be awesome, maybe this can be very meta. Bitmit runs as a DAC and their shares are listed on the exchange :O

how else can i sell my stake?

You can just ask for a refund. Anon136 don't want to change eXo coin early birds investor. Because if he do that, they'll create a market, an people will sell 1 BTC early birds for 2 BTC ...

Just ask a refund if you want your LTC back.

What the early investors do behind the scenes is not the business of exocoin or anon. If i get a good offer I would sell otherwise i wait this one out.

sure that person would just have to trust you is all.

I am fine with escrow, but yes.

hm yea so the other person sends btc to escrow and you send nothing. then when the time comes and you get your exocoin you send it to the escrow and then the escrow releases funds to both parties. in that way the person would have to trust you because you could be using him as a put option in theory. if exo is the bees knees than you dont send to the escrow and the escrow refunds the btc. if exo is dirty diapers then you send the exo and get your bitcoins.

yes, or we can use you as escrow and pay you Wink
4295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt source code flaw reports on: March 22, 2014, 05:53:16 PM
I can only imagine this to be the flaw:

Code:
if (lastBlock.getHeight() < Constants.TRANSPARENT_FORGING_BLOCK) {
                byte[] generationSignature = Crypto.sign(lastBlock.getGenerationSignature(), secretPhrase);
                generationSignatureHash = digest.digest(generationSignature);
            } else {
                digest.update(lastBlock.getGenerationSignature());
                generationSignatureHash = digest.digest(publicKey);
            }

            BigInteger hit = new BigInteger(1, new byte[] {generationSignatureHash[7], generationSignatureHash[6], generationSignatureHash[5], generationSignatureHash[4], generationSignatureHash[3], generationSignatureHash[2], generationSignatureHash[1], generationSignatureHash[0]});

So forging before the Transparent Forging Block is really vulnerable to "Mining".
After the transparent forging block you take the generation signature and use the hash of it to look which user gets rewarded with the fees. Before the transparent forging block, the hash of a SIGNATURE of the GenerationSignature has to meet certain criteria. Due to the random "k" in the signing process, you get different values when resigning.

Here you can just start mining with a decent hardware, resigning the generation signature until one of their hashes meets the requirements to collect the fees.

Description of the flaw:

Code:
Curve25519-based EC-KCDSA is used for "generationSignature". This gives ability to generate blocks very fast using PoW approach.

What is ur account id?

How about we make a prove of work scheme to get asset names? Like vanity addresses. But we only show the first 12 digits?

That is a weird idea Cheesy

To be clear from this morning,

Nxt Asset Exchange will allow trading in any pair chosen by market participants, correct?

not at the start. Once AT will be enabled, someone can create such a pair with NXT in the background

honestly i think it would be best never to let that happen for a couple of reasons. it forces people to use nxt which inflates the value and strengthens the security of the network but also it forces the markets to be deeper and more liquid thus reducing volatility and generating more accurate and reliable price signals.

You make a wrong assumption! If you trade 2 nonNXT assets against each other, there would be a NXT trade in the background. It would just be a shortcut, but NXT would be involved without seeing it. Also fees would be in NXT.

4299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 21, 2014, 10:36:28 PM
I am no programmer! But how about something like this:

Each forger determines who will forge the 10th next block. When creating the block he takes the data from the previous block to create a hash. From this hash he also determines the 10th next block forger. To make this strategy not predictable, we will have to implement a random variable that can't be predicted. Any ideas for this?

So now lets say we are on block 1000 and Forger A is the creating this block. He determines that B will forge block 1010. Now we know block 1001,1002,1003,1004,1005,1006,1007,1008,1009 and 1010 but we can't predict 1011. Only once Block 1001 is forged we will know that.

Is that idea retarded?
