High pitched screeching-like sounds are usually capacitors attempting to commit suicide. I'm not sure how well you can look inside your PSU, but if you see the capacitors bulging at the top, then they're getting close to giving out.
i think thats just coil whine

Stay far away... read the reviews.
My advice on PSU's: If its not Enermax or Corsair don't buy it. Always remember a bad PSU can destroy your entire computer.
LOL. Spreading FUD i see...

anyone notice this thread is full of strawmans? In a Libertarian society people would be well educated enough in science to realize that global warming is designed as a tool to push a tax scheme, not environmental policy, and that the earth is heating because of increased solar activity, not because of human activity.
MOAR COAL!

here's my critique. Economy Mining Rig AMD Athlon II X2 250 @ 3.0GHz AM3 Processor (wtf? get a semperon or something)2GB RAM (overkill. use linuxcoin)1x ATI Radeon HD5770 GPU (why would you even use that card for mining? even as an "economy rig". i would expect a 5830)650W Power Supply (overkill. a good 450W would probably work)500GB SATA HD (wow, can't you get something cheaper? like a usb flash drive with linuxcoin?)DVD-RW (they should revoke your rig building license)it seems like you're building gaming computers, not mining rigs. read up on how to build one over here: https://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=16076.0.

I'm sorry but I call BS... It's easy enough to prove us wrong... post the town and state he lives in... or if it's rural, the county and state... That search warrant is public record, so it will be easy enough for one of us to call and confirm there was a DEA raid there. dude its totally plausible, you dont need to be a rocket scientist to see that "hey, it's plausible, so we don't need proof!"

Well, I'm not suggesting that you be forced to use any method. If you want to continue to use the current wallet.dat as is, then go ahead, I could care less what happens to your wallet or anyone else's for that matter. All I'm saying/asking, is give us some options, so if I'm okay with having more points of failure (loss of the wallet, loss of the password, and loss of the second factor), then I have those options to choose from. Because as is right now, I don't have ANY other options.
1. mount truecrypt volume 2. start bitcoind with datadir=T:\bitcoin\ (truecrypt mounted volume) 3. unmount when you're done
