The price increase has already happened, bitcoin has increased 155% this year. The question is when people will start taking profits. If it happens quickly it will tank the price, if it is slow and measured, we might stay at this level for a while and consolidate.

It depends on whether Brexit destabalises the world economy - if it does, both gold and bitcoin will rise. If it doesn't the pound may drop a little against the dollar and euro, but not much else will happen.

...You lost me at blockchain viruses. While i'm not convinced you know what you're talking about lol you do have a point. Shitcoins Exist.
I think he meant trojans/keyloggers hidden in wallets, which has happened.

The real problem is our association with the US. The US seems to be intent on forcing regime changes and destabilising Europe and Asia. They created ISIS by removing Gaddafi, and if Assad goes the situation will get much worse. You must remember that the US hasn't won a war since their civil war, and half of them lost that. Right now, it looks as if the UK would be safer if it built ties with China and Russia, and distanced itself from the US. We don't want TTIP for example. As one person put it - Russia committed an act of belligerance by placing its country so close to American military bases. The removal of gaddafi is down to France and Sarkozy itching for a war because he thought it would win him re-election. Unfair to stick that on the Americans. Also, American dealings with the world come in waves - up until Kennedy, the only "interference" was siding with the Allies in the world wars - and they were right to. It was Kennedy that set in the rot by taking the US into Vietnam.

Well of the Europeans cut up rough, wanting to "punish" us for our leave vote, then pulling out of NATO is a potential weapon we can use. We've just sent troops and planes to Eastern Europe to protect them from the Russians. But the eastern europeans don't even pay their minimum 2% to defence as required under NATO rules.
Why bother to defend them if they won't help us get the trade deal we want? So yes, it's possible, it can and will be used as a negotiating ploy if things get difficult.

Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency?
Yes it could happen but i doubt very much it will happen the short to medium term, to actually make bitcoin obsolete would be a achievement.
It would have to offer something very important for mass adoption which Bitcoin doesn't offer. Transactions that confirm in a minute? Seriously, mass adoption means people actually use it for their shopping. If you send coins but the vendor doesn't receive them, then you are in limbo - some ordinary people will even accuse the vendor of doing something shady, when the problem is that the transaction isn't even in the blockchain. It will be something that simple that will prevent bitcoin mass adoption.

One sure thing it's cool that Cameron is doing a referendum on this matter.
He likes taking risks - he allowed the Scottish referendum too (to the consternation of the other Europeans, especially the Spanish who were horrified because both the Catalans and Basques want a referendum). Also - it was down to popular pressure. He knew that if he didn't offer a referendum, some of his voters would peal off to UKIP. By offering a referendum, they switched to him, because he was more likely to form a govt and deliver a referendum than UKIP. This is the benefit of a multi-party system operating within a First Past the Post election system. It forces changes.

Great podcast - loved hearing about the early days, made me feel nostalgic. Also appreciated very much how frank they were about what they saw as bitcoin's future challenges.

My main problem has been exchanges going bust and losing coins. I'm usually careful about not leaving much on an exchange, but you still need to keep something on them in order to trade. So far I've lost from Mintpal going bust and Cryptsy. Cryptsy is in administration and in theory they should repay a portion of the coins back, but who knows how long that will take.

Paypal has lost 57,000,000 users since January 2015 That's incredible - have you got a source for this?

This is why you need to be careful with stop losses... it's a great way for people to buy up your coins at a discount.
This. It crashed through the order books as all the triggered stop losses became self-fulfilling

I want to warn you , I already opened my account on gmail , I watched a message from poloniex this is the message : check the e-mail address . I have clicked the link and inserted my password , but after I while I checked the e-mail who sends the message and compared it with old message from poloniex , they are different , so I recognized that it is hacking attempt , and fast , logged in my poloneix account using google search ( for more ensurance ) and changed the password . I hope I am safe now because they have the old password . please be careful because there are a lot of hacking attempts as Bitcoin price is increasing . The best insurance against this is to never click a link in an email. Always either type in the website url into your browser from scratch, or google it and click from google.

BTW... By mentioning Margaret Thatcher, you have further tarnished your cause. She was responsible for decades of bloody war and genocide in Ireland. Her xenophobic comments against the ethnic Irish will never be forgiven.
What a load of rubbish. The biggest killers in Ireland were the IRA. They killed over 3000 people - way exceeding anything ISIS has done in Europe. What is more the IRA are very keen on Hamas, Hezbollah and ISIS. And they're still at it - five days ago they trashed a cemetery and left the following verse: IRA 1916 Lee Rigby's heads away Free Ireland Lee Rigby if you recall was beheaded by an ISIS terrorist. And the IRA are celebrating that. What's the difference between an Irish terrorist and an Islamist terrorist? Two cheeks of the same a**e.

Anyone thinking a 24k btc dump won't drop the price is out of his mind...
They're auctioning it off in smaller tranches. Even govts arn't silly enough to dump on the market in one go.

I have said this since 2007 and will til I die. Think about every woman boss or supervisor you have ever had. Some friendly some not regardless of personality the fact is your day was dictated by her mood. If she was in a bad mood you knew it and if she in a great mood you knew it. She would make it a hard day or a kick back day her call she's boss. Do you really want this in a president. Get mad if you want to ladies. Facts are what they are
What a load of bunk. In Britain, our best ever periods have been when a woman was in charge. Think Elizabeth I, under whose leadership the Empire was born, the Spanish Armada defeated and Shakespeare, Ben Jonson and Christopher Marlowe thrived. Or think Margaret Thatcher, who revived Britain from a sorry state by force of will and by hand-bagging silly people who hindered Britain's growth. She too won a war decisively, the Falklands war, which is pretty much the last war a western power has been seen to actually win. Women leaders are great.

I wonder if they both use the same hosting and data centre providers?
Highly unlikely. So they both got DDoSed at the same time instead? But why? It's not like Yobit is a big centre for ether trading or anything.

Well they were properly equipped - but they let ISIS steal all their stuff. It's pointless giving them more - they'll just lose it and all we'll end up doing is arming ISIS. It's interesting how well ISIS is operating though - did all the ex-Iraqi officers from Saddam's time go into ISIS I wonder?
