Just wondering, what will happen if I get a share accepted with my worker, then delete the worker immediately after?
Will the amount for the share be lost?

do not delete workers like that as there  no need to do it.

make a new worker move to the new one then delete the old worker the next day.

i'd like to bring ya'lls attention to something else here...
we have gone from 130nm to 60 to 55 to 40 to 28 in how much time? just a year?

next up is 22 nm which is already in the works.  what's after that?

what size are the big gorillas on (and not even ASICs) here's some idea: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-cpu-processor-5nm,17578.html
why care about where big boys are? well, they tend to have an effect on what foundries are available for a specific nm size!!!

so by the end of this yr, Bitcoin ASICs may actually drive the nm size further down, and not the usual suspects (Intel, AMD)!??

I will make a bold prediction here that Bitcoin will begin (maybe accelerate is more appropriate of a word) anothor revolution wrt ICs and new technologies to base mining as well as other chips on...

damn these are exciting times we live in Smiley

Sometimes I wonder if there is the beyond asic tech just around the corner.
I can see seasonal mining catching on.  s-1's could be a nice nov to april piece of gear.

My last three are due on thur-fri. I may just keep them in a box for now. use them in the fall.  but then again coins are drifting up.  I would love to see an extended slow rally beyond the 2k a coin.  go up 100 usd a week for 16 weeks would be very nice.

When this will stop? 0.10BTC per miner? Maybe 0.05 more?

Probably when shipping costs meet or exceed any profit margin.  That's the official EOL imho.

It probably wont go under $75 usd

shipping the S1 alone costs them about $50

I was assuming $35-40 shipping after volume discounts, and maybe $35-40 recycle value.

If shipping is close to $50 and parts recycle value is around $40, then they wont sell under $100 as they can just recycle the parts and not deal with the shipping.

While we are on that topic how do you think the asic miner farms and bit fury farms will expedite the older inventory as newer and more efficient chips come online.

not going to happen that fast.  newer faster more efficient chips   do not jump the bar a lot more.

gpu  =   300 watts for 1gh

asic miner usb stick = 8 watts for 1 gh

bit fury usb stick = 1.5 watts for  1gh

antminer s2 = 1 watt for 1 gh

spoondoolies sp10 = .7 watt for 1 gh

spoondoolies sp30 = .46 watt for 1 gh ?

the power saving for asics are close to bottomed out.

so what does it mean?   btc goes up  like it is today  solves the issue.

big companies keep the gear

an s-1 at 1.1 watts on a downvolt - downclock  will get turned on OCT 1 to supplement heating.

Lets say The best gear in the world gets to .2 watts….  it may not pay to move to it.

just turn my gear off for the summer and use it for heating in the winter.  this could start to happen.

if a btc stays under 500usd and   no one invents a .05 watt a gh chip   .  won't be asics be a new tech.

yes ant miner s2's are price in usd and btc is going up.  this makes ant miner s2's a better deal today over yesterday by serious difference    .

also do you have an s2 coupon?  if you do that is 400 usd off the price.

       I would get s2's asap.

pm me if you need an s2 coupon as I have 8 ..

I am off loading all my s-1's to get an s2 or 2 .
43147  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 45TH Giganto Miner! on: May 20, 2014, 08:47:23 PM
well if I build this piece of gear and had 9 cents a k-watt. to power it.  I would not tell a soul.

Mine and cash . then mine and cash then mine and cash. then buy more parts to have the second one ready.

he is looking at 75k min for 2 in profit.  he does not need any of us since he has one working.

Maybe he is showing off just how big his mining shaft is!  Damn that is one heck of a shaft bro.

now please go  away and play with it all by yourself .
43148  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1000 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees +MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: May 20, 2014, 08:35:15 PM
all correct .  there is luck involved in the ramp up and ramp down.    As you ramp up  all hit blocks pay a little more    then the stable number as you maxed out.  when you leave and ramp down all blocks hit pay less.

so leaving in a cold streak is fine as long as the streak stays cold right until you have zero hash.  leaving in a cold streak is terrible if the pool gets really hot and you have very little hash left.

I think I will boost my hash now as a 49 hour streak is long time.

While you're right on luck affecting payouts, the fact remains that the *expected* payout for a share doesn't change from the moment it's submitted, and it's independent of any previous/future mining activity.

Hot/cold streaks are not possible to predict.  Basing a decision to join/leave based on past results is no different than gambling.  Since PPLNS pays shares based on future performance, it is not possible to hop in/out of luck with ANY reliability, which is why it's unhoppable.

Ok...that all makes sense. Thanks.

By the way, I have a general question about hardware and frankly after reading a lot of the posts over the past couple of weeks in that section, I'm flummoxed/discombobulated.  I know this is off topic but the guys(gals?) in this thread seem to be a bit more mature and considered in their responses...so shall I ask it here or maybe pm some of the guys?

I just don't want to be an ass...as well as a noob...

 feel free to fire away.

I am been playing the btc game for about 2 years.

First off.  BTC/any coin at all can crash and burn leaving you with nothing. So do not spend more then any money you can afford to turn into $0.00

Second off.  No piece of gear right now is 2x better then any other gear.

What does this mean the best watt to hash  number is about .7 watts for 1gh hash
a spoondollies sp10 in low power mode  uses 700 watts for 1th.

most gear now is 1 watt to 2 watts per hash.

Third fast delivery is very important.
43149  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1000 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees +MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: May 20, 2014, 03:57:19 PM
Sooo...I'm a noob...but...doesn't the PPLNS mean that when folks bail on the pool...it's going to take them a while to get back up to their previous share if they decide to come back when this block is solved and we get back to "normal"?

PPLNS has a charge-up and wind-down period.  When you first start, your reward is lower than what you'd expect per shift, until you have shares in all the shifts which are receiving payments.

When you stop mining, you continue getting paid until all the shifts you had shares in have left the window that gets paid.

However, the two periods are symmetrical.  You do not gain or lose anything by continuing to mine or leaving the pool.  At any given point, the *expected value* of any share submitted is completely independent of how long you have been mining previously, or how long you continue to mine on a PPLNS pool.

all correct .  there is luck involved in the ramp up and ramp down.

Not sure where to ask but I have 32000 loyalty points.  Iwanted to look for a coupon but I can't seem to see what 32000 points are worth.  The website said send an email to info@zoomhash.

I sent in an email no reply yet.  does anyone know what I need to do to cash the points in?

Sorry, we are moving to a new shopping cart system end of this month to mid June. We will upgrade our point system to be more exciting and worth while.

Thanks!

I missed this response.

My blade came last night seems to be running nicely .   I am getting close to 5mh on it.

So I will wait on the points. until June.

right now I am going to sit on any orders of the newer gear until I see how other like them.

for the most part I like gridseeds gear wise. Pricing meh.  But this blade was a good deal

some simple math will tell you .  if he has this he will not sell it.

46th

22,500 watts

btc = 457

kwatt 10 cents

make lots of money  at 10% diif

makes good money at 15% diff

makes some money at 20% diff

That photo is shocking  Shocked  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=508904.msg6597772#msg6597772

Yes, I can see rust on mine, missing screws and odd mismatched replacement screws.   These were run in a very corrosive environment.
This isn't just about dusty pods volder it's about trust.  Do you trust the company to not sell used equipment as new and if a mistake happened will they make it right with even a small gesture of goodwill.
Yes, trust if very important. I trust that Josh will address this issue and take care of every customer involved. He has a proven track record of doing so. Mistake or not, he will take care of you. I know he will. He did mention that he was away for a few days, so just give him a little time.

This is correct, we will always do the right thing. As we have proven.

Unfortunately, this is how Gridseed is sending these to us (never stops with these guys). And we are just learning about this. Normally, stock comes in, gets relabeled and goes back out.

Anyways, please email me directly at: josh@gawminers.com if you have not been taken care of. I will personally see to it that you are happy with the outcome.

yeah I got one today it lite up like a christmas tree I sent it back for a replacement .  it is possible a second one is no good.  I will test it tomorrow.

I also got a blade today my first one from zoom hash.  I found zoom hash before I found gaw miners and ordered about 3k in feb and march from them .. they gave me a good deal on one blade it came from china today and I just hooked it up.

seems to be good gear.

I am in NJ and once I found gaw miners up in Mass. I used them.  The last few grid seeds have been sub standard.  I mentioned it a few pages back in this thread.   Getting tired of tweaking gear.

hurry up with Prime please.    I will contact later on the possible second rma.

we are now are 31 hours and counting.  so guys and girls don't ever say we are lucky as lady luck gets very fickle.
cannot get on bit minter from china without a VPN so I cannot see.   Has this been ended?   At this difficulty we should average a block every 10 hours.

35 hours   and counting.

that is why you never  mention good luck.  we have gone to 99.9 percent   and that would be 3 days  since our pool share is smaller.

back when we were a solid 9-10%  a 99 percent day was only 23 or 20 hours.   we would also average 6 -7 hocks a day.

In my last order of 3 5-chip Gridseeds I had 2 rusty ones as well, they all worked but obviously they are not 'like new', however I contacted GAW and they compensated me fairly for it without any argument. ----------------------

----------------------- GAW reacted very surprised and told me they never sell used stuff, but nevertheless they were more then willing to rectify it.
Finally they gave me more compensation than I expected, so I'm still a very happy GAW customer.
But I have to agree that they should list used stuff as being used.

I clipped a bit of the quotes for space. So GAW is aware and are willing to offer some compensation.

I guess the support person I dealt with didn't get the memo even though I sent photos and now we have two pages of discussion.

I'll try again.

It doesn't seem very easy to get in touch with GAW nowadays. I sent 2 emails to support about the used Gridseeds, never got an answer. Finally I sent a mail to CTO Rami Abramov and he answered me after 30 hours or so.
It looks like their business has grown so big that they don't have enough manpower to cope with everything.

Probably why they are hiring. Also Josh has been travelling for project Prime.

do you have any idea what the project is about? I have an interest in some out of my garage and hosted mining at least for the next 4 months with summer heat.

We have stocked all required parts, except the LCDs and cases for X1 which are due to be delivered next week.

The miners are in production including the X1 boards. Several software issues have hold the shipment for few days but we expect to start shipping any day now.

Anyone want to sell one (1) S1 for .439 btc shipped in the states? I don't want to order direct since I don't want to buy 2 right now.
Or somehow work out a way to order the 2nd one with me and figure out how to do shipping?

pm your location if it is close to new jersey.  I have 5 on hand and 3 coming in.

43160  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner Batch 4, Price changes daily, now 2319 USD for 1TH/s on: May 19, 2014, 08:43:17 PM
My batch 2 S2 has been hashing at around 1 TH/s since I got it a month ago.

However, in the last two days the hash rate has fallen to an average of 900 GH/s.

You would think a blade had failed, but I don't think so because sometimes it still hits 1 TH/s.  The chart on the pool shows it hovering mostly around 900 GH/s.

Has anyone else had this issue?
Just to update: I SSH'd into the S2 to have a look. Couldn't see anything wrong. It had been up for a month, so I tried rebooting it. Problem solved, it is hashing at 1TH/s again.

Strange that it should slow down after a month of uptime, but I guess rebooting it once a month is pretty minimal hassle. See if it happens again in a month's time...

even my s-1's just stop once or twice a month.
