i was unaware there was a timeframe set to the upgrade, it seemed as though it was imminent.

though with the the pathetic price rises it may just be irrelevant by the time its 'deployed'

and thats not taking into account that it may be a BS marketing strategy - buy my overpriced S2's yo, theyre gunna be upgradable...honest

i hope my cynicism is unfounded!

A lot will depend on the asicminer gear  800gh for 1170 and hosting for 120 usd a month  was tossed out as possible .

no shipping no rasp pi    .  this is a good deal if you are like me approaching the summer.

here is another offer that comes close

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=576844.msg6959648#msg6959648

this would be  2300 up front with 90 days hosting fully paid. starts mining in a day.
43143  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Custom Built Mining Shed on: May 27, 2014, 02:14:24 AM
So your power cost including delivery is around 10ct? is that correct?

also, cooling typically adds around 30% more power consumption when running at full load, so it isnīt that much more power cost.

It is a necessity in most parts of the US anyway.

From my experience, antminers arenīt that sensitive to a higher intake temperature of say 30°C.

they can run fine in a room at 85f  which is  30 c

but he is in texas  which means 100 f or  38 c

I was one of the OG's that stuck it out during the first refund wave. But I am starting to doubt Black Arrow will ever come through. I bought this share back in December. We are a week away from June.

Not saying I want a refund, but I mean...c'mon Black Arrow.

i refunded 7 shares and kept 5 shares.

I would have preferred cashing them all out but that is just a case of hindsight being 2020

If I recall correctly, BITMAINTECH is offering an inexpensive upgrade to the S2's shortly.  I really like that upgrade option.

well it will need a new psu and run hotter.  ie louder but it could be  a better  deal then buying the s-2 as it is now
43147  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Save 50% on PSU Costs w/ Gigampz: Breakout Board for DPS-800GBA Server PSU on: May 26, 2014, 09:55:38 PM
so   what does a pair of s-1's clocked to 393 freq  hashing at 400gh pull on a k-watt meter?    120 volt measurement please...  do you get 800 watts or do you get more like 840?

Very nice analysis of the PSU cots power usage trade offs, here are the measurements...

Using a Model P4400 Kil-a-Watt meter these are the numbers I get...
With no load on the circuit my kill-a-watt reads 122 volts.

Stock clocks; 2 Ants...
volts: 118.3
amps: 6.76
watts: 797

Over Clocked to 393.75; 2 Ants...
volts: 118.3
amps: 7.54
watts: 889

Over Clocked to 393.75; 1 Ant...
volts: 119
amps: 3.74
watts: 442  (about 4% more efficient than the dell you reference)

Overclock Settings...
"""
option 'freq_value'     '5f05'
option 'chip_freq'      '393.75'
option 'timeout'        '36'

thanks for info
so it is close decision  if you want 6 s-1's

Thanks for the updates,

looks like It was a good move to hold all my shares (6) Smiley

Anyway, why DZ doesn't have any new offers on their website?

Somewhere DZ posted he wanted out of the coop due to the vicious attacks against him including nasty shit written about his daughter.

He posts once in a while but in general I believe he is mentally burnt out over this.

I held 5 of 12  and I am glad I did as the coop has been good to me. Smiley

We will not be making another GB like this- from now on if anything it will be for in hand shipping hardware with an individual hosting option. We ended up making a loss on most of the GBs, and between the Hashfast, KnC and BA problems, we decided at this time that it is not worth pursuing further at this point in time. I also didnt appreciate the personal attacks against myself and that of my employees, but not to the extent that DZ faced.

You lost your money or other peoples money? The way DZ was pumping out group buys without even giving much thought was sketchy to me. Especially when he tried to get people to go in on ATM's without even ironing out the logistics first. He was happy to collect BTC as quick as possible then everything goes dark. I'll be happy when I get my refund for round 7 if that ever happens.

of course he had to collect the atm money quickly if you don't act fast in this game you lose. they collected all the atm money and gave it back right away (sounds like a lot of work to me and zero profit to them)  On a side note when i saw the opportunity to get in on a group buy for an ATM i ran down to the ATM in vancouver and pumped a bunch of fiat into it and bought in 225 bucks a bitcoin.those jerks forced me to double my money!! . kind of like when i spent two bit coins on the dz neptune buy ,sure it didn't work but it wasn't their fault and as it happened i got to cash out two bit coins at the almost perfect time! Anyone who has a problem with the dz co op probably 1. never dealt with them and is just an idiot   2. blames them for something that is their own fault . you chose the wrong asic company the dmz just let you chose a small percentage of the wrong asic company.

yeah pretty much toss darts at the wall and see what sticks.

r1 no good
r5 great
r6 great
r9 good
r10 good
r11 good
r12 good
r17 no good

that is why i don't hate them.  i also had thomas bail me out on a dead ant miner s-1

and bob sold me 75 ant miner u-1s i was the second seller on ebay to have them in stock. i made good money on that deal.
43149  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Two Antminer S1 on One PSU on: May 26, 2014, 09:34:57 PM
you are wasting 60 watts to run that machine.

if you buy an evga 1300 watt supernova g2   it runs 3 ant miner s-1s at 393 freq 600 gh and pulls 1215 watts. or about 405 watts for 1 s-1.

you can buy an evga for 195 today and get back   a 10 dollar rebate so you spend 185  for 3 s-1's

the psu

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401139792&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+1300

the rebate

http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/00/00/53/38/59/12/5338591210._V336191023_.pdf

10 year warranty      you would use 1410 watts to run 3 ants and spend  180 plus wires.

the evga you spend 185 after rebate and all wires included and about  5 k-watts a day in power saved   for me that is 16 cents x 5 = 80 cents a day  so in 6 days I have my money back.

BTW nice case idea for the miner

I will post on until the !st and hope to be paid.

yeah no question I trust bitmaintech more then I trust jack and co.  but  I may have to buy from him.  I will sit  out for a bit.

I don't want anymore s-1's and 1909 usd is steep for 1th .

it  is close to the summer so low  amounts gear In my garage is fine. Hosting makes  more sense for me.

okay  I am at your website   ..   would order 1 of these  and let you host. I don't see a hosting option.  and I don't see when you start hashing if I let you host.

43153  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner Batch 4, Price changes daily, now 2309 USD for 1TH/s on: May 26, 2014, 05:08:51 PM
thats twice the price has gone up in the last 3 days...

why not just charge in BTC??

Its disgraceful keep changing the price so we can hardly earn a satoshi no matter what the  BTC price does!

They do charge in BTC.  They only quote in USD, (and BTC right next to it).  The price is dropping.  Right now they're at 3.961 BTC.  Just earlier today they were at 4.02ish.  They cost less today than they did two days ago when I bought mine.  How hard is that to comprehend?

And before you say that if you buy in fiat the price has gone up then let me just counter that by saying that if you start mining with one you're also going to make more fiat than you would have done as well.  You can't have it both ways.  You either price in BTC and the cost has gone down while the earning potential remains the same, or you price in fiat and the cost has gone up but so has the earning potential.  Take your pick.

who said it was hard to comprehend?

if the USD price had not been raised AGAIN - the BTC price would actually be reasonable rather than STILL disgracefully high

duh
I have to side with you.

Also right now asicminer new gen gear is selling at 1170 usd for 800gh

so do I want to spend   2309 usd here (well 1909 usd after coupon)  and get a 1000 gh unit or do I want to spend 1170 usd and get an 800 gh unit.

I have to add a psu. I have one.

I have to add a rasp Pi  so  for 1230 usd I get  800gh vs   1909 for 1000gh

This is very simple if the new asic miner 800 gh machine is good these s-2's are very overpriced.
43154  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.422 BTC for 180GH/s on: May 26, 2014, 04:57:11 PM
BTC value has increased about 20% the last week, why did the price not drop by that percentage in btc?

I calculated over and over again, with kwh @ 0.27€ and diff increase 15%, the S1 will never ever make the btc back you invested if I have to pay monthly the electricity from mined btc.

What did I wrong? Why should someone buy S1, at least in germany it's just stupid?

you are apply wrong mathematical techniques  for your calculations  as many people do not understand all the variables involved.

BTC roi has no meaning if you purchased the btc with fiat.  the fiat price has the meaning.

 ____________________________________________________________________________
Also   who cares if you do a btc roi

in this case.  I buy today  at .419btc  use a coupon pay .369 btc.

I buy the btc from an exchange today  at 585 usd.

 My fiat cost was  .369 btc x 585 usd = 215.86 usd.

I setup a dedicated account at btcguild.  all btc and nmc goes to it…….

BTC crashes drops to 100 usd.  difficulty drops like a mother fucker.
when all is done my machine mines 3 btc and costs me 1btc in power. net of 2btc

so I kicked ass in btc roi I turn .369 btc into 2 btc .

I whaled   but wait my fiat  was  215.86 usd my fiat now is 200 usd
_____________________________________________________________________________
think this can't happen it can  ..

if btc price drops a lot big time minign will stop and diff will drop.

So do not lock yourself into btc roi.  your calculations need to take a lot into account.

1)btc roi

2)fiat roi

3)heating bill reduced  if you use a space heater in the winter.  you can turn on an s-1 instead.

4)So s-1's can be stored if they do not make any money in the months of August, Sept.  then in OCT turned back on.

5)Undervolt/underclock makes extra money

6)  rising btc price allows  for power to be paid off and sometimes the price rises way faster then difficulty.

7) using an s-1 in a space with 'free' power  Or in my case  I can use 800 watts and pay for only 200 watts.

So an s-1 cost me  only 4 cents a kwatt.

I give a +1 to zoomhash_michael

I've really busted their balls in the past but Michael always came though.

they'll take good care of you.

yeah I ordered  two blades from them and 20-30 5 chip units from them.

The first blade came on sat the 17th  of may   it runs wrong.  1 part does 2.3-2.6mh  no issues or worries.

the other part does 1.4-1.7mh  I know he is busy but I hope to hear from him on  a credit  for this .  maybe 20%-25%  or around 200 usd store credit.

 this is the problem

I tested high end seasonic  psu with good plugs  switch the power switched the  mining pools and the blade side that powers the fan runs short .

With a store credit I can just order other gear.  I could order 2 or 3   five chip units from him   I am short about 1.2mh

3 of these  fixes everything I hope he reads this soon.

A second blade is on the way I hope it works better.

Seems to be only 1170$/piece on the website.

How does hosting work? The electricity price in convenient but do I have to pay for a PSU and ras PI?

The price at 1,5$/ GH is on par with Bitmain, maybe more expensive if you factor in the PSU and PI. The hosting is nice, although this company does not invest enough in public relations.

Maybe selling miners is their secondary business. I understand that though  Kiss Why bother when you can mine.

No, u dont have to pay for PI or PSU, we take care of that.

So 1170$ for 800 GH (or twice for two as the thread says) and I don't have to pay VAT, shipment, PSU, ras PI and pay ~115$/month host. If you add remote access this is the best deal on the market and I'm up for some.

What you guys think?

I think you should see  if this thread sends at least 1 miner out that works.  If they deliver as promised the deal is good.

In fact I may buy 1 hosted myself.

The host fee of May(21/4/2014-20/5/2014) will collect, for management easily, the mail to collect host fee will send using leegroupsale.1@gmail.com
and the host fee need pay to the following address

you need reply the mail to confirm the payment and mark the exchange ratio of btc/usd you use
(real time exchange ratio of btc/usd from btc-e)

okay I will send in my fee .  I will send an email to ask you what the fee should be.

It was 225 reduced to 220.  Due to some down time that happened to all of us.

My miner has had a lot of issues since then and as of now it is fully down 0 hash.

1) If you could pm me what my usd fee should be since I have had more down time then the other miners I will pay you the fee.

2) If you could get my machine back up from 0 to 1000 please do so.

Thanks,

I have a lame situation and need advise. I've replaced the power supply in my S2 because it was shutting off all the time. However, I want to repurpose this enermax for a mid-range gaming PC. How do I go about doing that since there are no peripheral cables?

Buy PCI-E cables in a store, like microcenter
http://www.microcenter.com/product/318756/PCI_Express_6-pin_to_2__PCI_Express_20_8-pin_(62-pin)_Adapter
Thanks for trying but I don't see how that would help. I already have too many PCI-e cords but zero peripheral wires for hard drives, cdrom etc. I looked around for PCI-E female to molex adapter and even eBay didn't come up with anything. Essentially making this powerful PSU a piece of garbage.

enermax sells the exact cables on their website.
