Speaking of gridseeds. Some times they burn up in a shower of sparks. rare but does it happen. I had one burn up today. I now need to rma it. pain in the butt. well gaw will replace it. still more work.
KEWL!!! Stop running them on 220V!!!! LOL very funny. I got rid of 40 of them the last few weeks. I have been peeping for the summer. My garage is damn hot. I can run 4 to 5 k watts safely in my garage but once the temps go up I have to cut way back. I am going to run 5 five- chip units 1 blade. totals of .65-7 mh. I am going to run 4 under clocked s-1's that will be the summer mining around 1 kwatt. Hey anyone here or read about this prime idea 'good'Josh ( will all should know good Josh= GAW Josh bad Josh - BFL Josh it is easy good = GAW bad = BFL.) is taking about. IS it a hash purchase for the cloud or what. If it is something in the cloud I hope they offer a decent price. I have not found many good cloud hash ideas.

yes I have been held back for this very reason.
that and really low prices on the s-1's I just spent the end of my s-1 coupon's today…
I have 6 or 8 s-2 coupon's that i may never use.
basically bitmaintech makes very good gear.. but if you get a bad piece of gear it is always a set back. so on 200-300 usd s-1's I can live with this.
but on a 2k piece of gear no.

New price for AntMiner S1: 0.439 btc each one, shipping cost included.
Is the rumor of a very close s1 EOL true or it will still be sold for other months? Im sure they haven't made any new s1 for awhile now. The ones being sold now are probably the ones being sold off from the farms to upgrade to s2 units. The last five sent to me were completely new items. I received them over the last two weeks. The first 10 /12 I got were all used I received them from feb to early april. I still doubt they are current production. They are just more careful about the handling and resetting of the last few batches. What do you think they will do with the 15000 farm units? Im sure the only 2 options are to recycle the parts for $40 or sell on clearance which is happening now. The current sale is more profit margin, or less loss however you look at it. you could be correct but the quality on the last five has looked pristine. my last five look like this ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fimagizer.imageshack.us%2Fv2%2F1280x1024q90%2F842%2F52pwa.jpg&t=663&c=2cgek0TuXxE16A) fins look really shiny new ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fimagizer.imageshack.us%2Fv2%2F1280x1024q90%2F843%2Fu7q1.jpg&t=663&c=Gkha_3ucB17mZg) no bends in the fins. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fimagizer.imageshack.us%2Fv2%2F1280x1024q90%2F839%2Fi7fa.jpg&t=663&c=Nq6arhSRMAPosw)

I'll see if i can make a table. I finally tested that code and it should work (will verify against some actual data), can probably just make a script to dump it out to CSV quick.... can throw that into excel or whatnot.
would be nice of you to do so. thanks.

Are you aware that all units are tested prior to shipment? You can't make the leap that they have been tested on mainnet simply because the unit is filled with dust. It's a long extension even for a shill from BFL.
His was damaged and he definitely needs a replacement, ASAP.
Where are they doing this testing, the local rock quarry? ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) That is weeks worth of dust. http://s21.postimg.org/h2pga4yxi/005.jpgActually, that is one week's worth of dust on my equipment if I leave my back garage door open for ventilation during the day. I go through a can of compressed air a month trying to keep my rigs clean (dust makes them run hotter). They are not in a rock quarry. They are someplace much worse. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi.i.com.com%2Fcnwk.1d%2Fi%2Ftim%2F2013%2F01%2F14%2FChina_pollution_AP971430398958_620x350.jpg&t=663&c=3FNfP7rh_FFsng) Air quality in China is notoriously poor. Then wouldn't they ALL look like that then? Not if they tested some for 5 minutes and others for a day or two, or even some were not tested at all. Perhaps they burn in every unit for 24 hours before shipping. I can think of lots of scenarios that are innocent which could result a bit of dust like that. On the other hand, they could be in a building with excellent air quality control (a semiconductor factory for instance) and could have been mining with them for days or weeks. I was far more concerned with the damage to the unit than the dust. We all know they were mining for profit via burn in so that dust was infact dust from Eclipse mining facility most probably. Why are you digging up old BFL threads?

If panic, panic first.
What if shipment is delayed to Jan 1013? Feb? March? And many, many people want refunds. Will BFL be able do this? My bet is: No. They don't have that amount of money left ...
It was delayed. Good that you got a refund. Too bad BFL stop giving refunds. I get that you hate bfl.. I do not like them and waited beyond 13 months to be fully refunded last month. But you dug up a 20 month old post/thread.

the remote access to the miner will open step by step from tomorrow, that will make you manage the miner more convinent
that sounds good will you post a thread on how to do this?

In my experience of buying mining hardware Bitmaintech.com has been the best. They are quick to respond to questions and orders are shipped out fast after the payment is received. I look to Bitmaintech.com first when gearing up to invest in new hardware and hope they continue to be successful and offer these top products. BTC
So, your point is that I should just take whatever they offer? I am not sure what his point is. but the only refunds I have seen them give were if someone overpaid. Lets say you sent .6 btc for a .5 btc machine. I have not read of many refunds for a problem like yours. The offer they gave you is not that good. Ask them for the replacement and a second one for .3 btc Then list the two for .8btc your loss will be less. but I hear your compliant and have some sympathy as I got a dud back in feb. if it were not for bobsag3 giving me a replacement up front then waiting for me to send him a the dud. the exact same thing would have happened to me.

Original post removed due to erroneous interpretation.
But, still, 2800W GAW? We're not mining Bitcoins here!
Scale out or scale up. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I'd rather a rack of Widows than a BigGun personally, but for folks who have the power availability having a single unit to monitor is much easier than a group. yeah running 30 five chip gridseed units is a lot harder then it sounds. just like running 150 antminer usb sticks is harder then 2 antminer s-1's

Well, I couldn't wait another day, so I emailed Bitmain asking to get my BTC back. It cost 0.554 BTC when I ordered it on April 30. I don't want a replacement unit because I've already lost 2 weeks of mining as a result of UPS losing it. Even if Bitmain offers me a coupon to cover the price difference, I don't see any point in getting another S1.
Let's see if Bitmain comes through for me.
In these case they are always trying to give you another unit + a lot of useless coupons (maybe not totally useless now cause you can sell to other users) Yep, just received an email from bitmain, they are offering me "a new miner tomorrow and offer you 3 x 0.05btc coupon", now how should I respond? I mean, I thought I had already made clear to them that I don't want a replacement unit, I just want my btc back at this point. Do I keep insisting on getting my btc back? Or, just take the offer? they will not give you a refund. sad but true. Ask them for the replacement miner and ask if you can buy a second miner for 0.3btc. this would mean you got 2 for a total of 0.854btc. which is a fair price for 2 machines at todays price.

Consider the efficiency of these units 70-75%? and you can calculate power savings 6 months or a year down the road if you are using to mine btc 24 hours a day.
Ive not used that specific unit but I haven't come across a server grade psu made in the last 3-5 years that has been below 88% efficiency personally. As we know psu highest efficiency is most likely at 50% load and not as efficient at 20% or 100% load. You can see here alot of comparison of name brand server psu: http://www.plugloadsolutions.com/80PlusPowerSupplies.aspxYou will notice the majority is at Bronze 85% and less. And at lower load 20% or highest load 100% Brozne 85 is only about 81-82% The second highest category is regular Bronze only 80% efficiency. This is not even including the many many server psu on the market that dont even have a 80 Plus rating (probably Chinese, or fake) : so they are much less and into the 70% range obviously. You are correct I tested my Dell server PSUs and they use 860-870watts per 2 S1s at the wall. This is the exact same as my thermaltake bronze PSU. My EVGA and Corsair golds use exactly 800watts at the wall for the same 2 miners. Doing the math the difference per month in electricity would take a long time to offset the initial savings savings of buying a server PSU. The 60 watts savings for the Gold psu per day at .16 per kwh running 24/7 for a year would save $84 For platinum about $125 a year. Amazon for $170 Platinum Corsair 860 http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Professional-860-Watt-Platinum-AX860/dp/B00A0HZMKG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400395186&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+platinum+860So $45 for plat psu 860 watts and great resale value I think is good deal Wow, $170 for a 860 watt PSU. Spend $240 and get a 1300 that can drive 3x OCd S1s. Pulls about 1025W at the wall @ 115V. I used three of these for my 9 S1s. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182063M EDIT: My memory was wrong. From an earlier post of mine: I'm using the Lightning 1300 here. According to my Kill A Watt, 3 of them OCd pull 10.65 amps @ 114v using 1212 watts. yeah the lightning 1300 is good and I considered it to be the best deal… up until now. right now the evga's 1300's are best for 3 s-1's or 1 s-2/ http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400419758&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+supernova+1300195 and the 15 dollar rebate= 180 10 year warranty. they pull 1215 watts for 3 s-1s at 393 freq. 600gh
