43181  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s SOLO MINING on: May 15, 2014, 11:52:04 AM
Ok, I have a 1Th/s S2 Antminer and while I am enjoying its returns currently, I want to enter the lottery and solo mine bitcoins and other coins from time to time.

Q - Has anyone to date, been able to configure this mining machine to solo mine?  I have tried every combination I can think of but to no avail.  I can get it to go live on my local IP connecting to Bitcoin-Qt but it does not hash and the beepers sounds after about 1 minute.

I have even contacted Bitmain but they have not been helpful at all.

Any advice appreciated at this point (APART FROM POOL ADDICTS WHO WILL ADVISE NOT TO SOLO MINE)

Buy a few s-1's .  with your risking taking set of courage (ie balls) it is a good idea   you can get 2 for .92btc  if you have coupons 2 for .82btc

if you undervolt and under clock them to 150gh and 200 watts.   you solo mine with 300gh.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=526060.0

this is the under volt under clock thread.

if you do take this on  and get the s-1s working as solo miners please let us know.

I have 7 s-1's I do not know how to solo mine them.   I would not mind running 1 or 2 as solo miners.

I have some s2 coupons.  2  of them.

Also     if any one has an s1 I would like 1 coupon.

philipma1957 is the bitmain name.

I got 1 s1 coupon and I traded off 1 s2.

 So I have 1 s2 left  .

I sent the second and last S2 coupon to miniMiner.  miniMiner please send the s-1 to me.

Thanks

How much are these S1 coupons for just out of curiosity?

0.05  brings the s-1 down to .426

43187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My current btc address say I may have double spends. on: May 15, 2014, 03:25:12 AM
so grue  p2p is new to me .  Stands for peer to peer and there is no operator correct.

The warning never leaves?

I know the coin amount is tiny under .015 maybe .012  I have paid  more 1btc in extra fees since I opened the address since the address has 600 or more transactions and I pay .001 to .002 on each transaction .

It is a bit frustrating if it never leaves.
43188  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Slow hashrate only 0.09 on: May 15, 2014, 03:15:25 AM
Hello! First you need to know that im completely new in this... i am trying to use bitminer 1.6.0 and my hashrate is 0.09 and around 100 Mhps ( i have MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr Gaming OC).. i know that nvidia GPU are not good for mining but i dont think that they are that bad... o.O...
so i wanted to ask you for help.. i dont know if it is normal or i fu*ked something up... thanks for your time

first off   gpuming no longer works as a profit for mining btc.     the best gpu will do about .8gh and spend 300 watts.  If you want to learn to mine do not spend 300 watts 24/7/365 to learn about mining.  buy  your self a nano fury usb stick  it will do about 2-2.4gh and spend 4 watts

you are spending a ton of energy to teach yourself mining.

you do not need to do that.    also bitminter has a thread  that answer lots of questions on mining.

I advise a nano fury or an ice fury as they are lowe cost and do not need drivers.   you can use bfgminer to mine on bitminter.   it is easy to do. there are a few threads on ice fury sticks and nano  fury sticks.

most likely you will not profit with a nano fury stick even if you spend 20 dollars to get one.  it may never earn the 20 back.   but at least you will not spend a lot of power or money learning the game.

43189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My current btc address say I may have double spends. on: May 15, 2014, 01:47:22 AM
Don't re-use addresses.

Problem solved.

Since I do all income tax with complete  and accurate reporting, less addresses with long traceable info are better.

I have to say your idea has some merit.  I will try 1 new address a month. Still allows for easy accounting.
43190  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: new antminter s1 having issues on: May 14, 2014, 10:31:38 PM
wifi sucks for mining.

do you have an antenna attached to the ant?
43191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / My current btc address say I may have double spends. on: May 14, 2014, 10:02:39 PM
This is my address.

https://blockchain.info/address/1Fo2K52Rz7LZw9fcF5BDdDBjfNaViQ8J3x

I tried out p2p pool and these transactions came to my address.

https://blockchain.info/tx/1b17ffc57129574eb54e71aa91e4c2f09c81c81404505ec2dd8c1112b07bd99c

https://blockchain.info/tx/2ab80f0954551a4ec559913f5da9bef709b76b0cdd257af085fecd59b4362b85

I think this is the one that started the issue.

all of these have cleared  so when does my address stop having this warning.

Warning! this bitcoin address contains transactions which may be double spends. You should be extremely careful when trusting any transactions to or from this address.

do i contact p2p pool operator?

do i contact blockchain info ? since they do the wallet.

I was a heavy purchaser from your company in March and up to mid april.  I spent over 3k in gear.  I switched to Gaw miners  and have now purchased around 3 k from them.

You emailed me today with an offer for a discounted blade.  considering I have not purchased from you in 28 days.  I think it was nice to offer a blade to me at a good price.  I did sound more then 3k .  so it is not like i did not buy a lot form you.   well long story short I purchased 1 blade at the discount price. of 729 including shipping.   so it comes in 5 days I hope.
the purchase

my 5 chip build no tools/ 4 parts/

brass rods
stainless steel grill
 stainless steel washers
stainless steel nuts.

rack fits 24 units easy.  I sold off 12 to get this blade.

Also in stock gear is easy to buy.
 S-1's
 s-2's
 grid seeds.

the group buy host is gone.  almost no case does it pay for the miner or the hosted.

Thanks for the updates,

looks like It was a good move to hold all my shares (6) Smiley

Anyway, why DZ doesn't have any new offers on their website?

Somewhere DZ posted he wanted out of the coop due to the vicious attacks against him including nasty shit written about his daughter.

He posts once in a while but in general I believe he is mentally burnt out over this.

I held 5 of 12  and I am glad I did as the coop has been good to me. Smiley
43195  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: WTF is going on with mining? on: May 14, 2014, 11:39:37 AM
Most homes in the US use heat pumps for heating which deliver 3 to 4 watts of heat for every 1 watt in electricity.

  most do but millions don't.
many homes built in the 1950 to 1975 time slot just have electric radiators for heating.
amazing as that is since it is really expensive to heat those homes.

I also know of two apartment complexes with electric radiators.  Many people use a kerosene heater to save money.

http://www.lowes.com/pd_93043-88644-RMC-95C6B_4294765336__?productId=3471481&Ns=p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNs%3Dp_product_qty_sales_dollar%7C1&facetInfo=

Bitmain can mass produce  heaters/miners

Lets say a 450 gh 600 watt unit  with some space in it and a better fan ie quiet.

case would be smaller then the s-2.   use s-1 tech 3 in the case a correct psu and put a ethernet switch in the unit.

 3 inch 1 out.

the consumer just sees an ethernet jack a power cord and the on off switch. at 300-400 usd this would be a very nice heater. compared to the 150 kerosene heat I linked to.

43196  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner Batch 4, Price changes daily, now 2389 USD for 1TH/s on: May 14, 2014, 11:31:07 AM
2389 - 400 = 1989 pretty good  just about 4.4 coins for 900gh.

As I will pull a board to give proper overhead on the psu.
it will also cut down heat/cooling issues.

43197  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: WTF is going on with mining? on: May 14, 2014, 02:23:21 AM
Sure, but the point is, noone no matter big or small is going to continue expanding their mining rigs exponentially once profits drop below 15%, so its not going to reach zero unless at some point the said mining operation ceases expanding, then they will just go out of business. As the difficulty rises, manufacturing improvements taper off, then the ability to expand will decrease, but it won't cease. I think we will see this tapering happen after about 40 billion => the problem is, many miners are hoping it will happen sooner, it won't.

A rise in fiat would probably result in a rise in the price of miners to match.

The days of purchasing a 2 TH/s miner and pocketing $300 a week from it will be over after the difficulty reaches and passes 40 Billion ( assuming the general trend in the price of BTC remains constant ). It would be more like, 2 TH/s = $30 running cost, earning $35 a week in BTC = $5 profit. Basically, keep the house warm in winter plus $5 for a cup of coffee and a muffin / scone / donut.

Well you are knocking on the door of the next boom for btc miners.  Heating.

In the USA more then 5 million homes heat with electricity.  Every one of them could use  an ant miner s-1 down clocked a bit  put in a nice case as a heater.   That is a real market for 1,000,000 S-1s repurposed into space heaters. For electric heated homes.

No data center can compete very well with this.     What does the electric heated home have free power.  What the f do I mean.

Homes with electric heat spend watts to heat and get no hash 0.   So spend 400 watts with a 2x down clocked pair of s-1's you get about 300gh.  For free in terms of power.  You were going to spend the 400 watts anyway on heat.  So spend the 400 watts get heating and hashing.  This gives a BIG EDGE to certain people over any data center.

I plan to repurpose my s-1s into space heaters this winter I have a few home owners that I know with electric only heat. No data center competes with this.  so in the long run smaller mining will survive .    Even do very well in the winter.
43198  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: WTF is going on with mining? on: May 13, 2014, 11:15:23 PM
Along with that, it still comes down to a numbers game. Once the difficulty rises to the point where the cost to run miners ( power, replacement parts, data center costs etc ) no matter the size of the farm, reaches about 85% of the income ( about a diff of 40 billion ), then the growth in the mining industry will have sufficiently slowed as the business model begins to approach a more conventional model of about 15% profit. Then you will start to see difficulty fluctuating up and down, rather than jumping 15% every 2 weeks.

this is what will happen in the long run…… lets say 5 cents a k-watt for power and .5 watts per hash    at 450 usd a coin .  no one earns money.

zero growth without   btc  fiat rise.

this chart shows  a data center with all sp30's   and 5 cents a k-watt  no money for cooling and the gear was built for free.

no data center can do that but if it could it would tap out next year.  So we are going to see a max for data center growth.

43200  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAW Miners- THE WAR MACHINE 54MH Miner!! on: May 13, 2014, 09:20:16 PM
Hey all, since I know as a newbie poster and account I ought to share that I am a long timer lurker to the forum this year. I only recently got into mining this year with the gridseeds. I too fell victim price falls. I bought Gridseeds back before GAW even was around at over 200 each so trust me I feel everyone's pain. In excess of 25 gridseeds kind of pain. Unfortunately, such is the name of the game as difficulty goes up hardware viability goes down etc but I am so happy to have GAW. In my particular situation having blades at home was no option. I have the usual cooling, noise but more importantly I have a wife and nobody wants an upset wife with fans buzzing 24/7 nonstop. So I took a shot with GAW on some hosted blades. I have been thrilled!

I thought I would share my support story today as well because my blades were hashing for about a week and I made some pool changes which caused one of my hosted blades to hash at half. Essentially a single blade issue. Anyways, I just wanted to specifically thank Luke from GAW today for going above and beyond helping me out with my hosted blade this morning. Luke worked with me via the ticket system all morning long and resolved it for me. I honestly am not sure what problem other people are having with the ticket system.

I will admit there have been some growing pains I am sure and maybe I am a bit naive as a newbie in this industry overall this year but I have had great interactions with various of the staff at GAW. My tip is to use the ticket system as not only is there a record you can see who you are working with as they are assigned to your ticket. From what I gather they are at it 24/7 there trying to keep up. Yes there was some time between my ticket opening and some action but also I think its hard to expect much at 1am when I opened my ticket. I could always host myself but these are some pro cons of a hosted solution. Overall I think they are close to nailing it.

Overall, mining has demands but I am pleased to say GAW has fulfilled my needs. I am hoping their own products will be even better supported. Anyways, I hope people are out there taking advantage of the slight drop in difficulty from last week and getting themselves some nice stash of altcoins. Good luck out there and crossing fingers for some price rises later this year and next.

Cheers everyone... C

Seriously starting to NOT trust this thread.  Every time people complain some "new to the forum" poster has a positive experience with the same issue.

well you know me. and GAW is funky weird .   I HAVE ORDERED  more then 7 orders total of  2k plus

order 1851  was five grid seeds   all good items.  but order was delayed due to a large paypal fraud done to them
they gave me a free sixth grid seed.

order 2552  a few wires perfect order.

order 2574 five grid seeds good price pretty fast shipping 1 dead usb2 cable

order 3675 a 20 port hub some wires.  they sent me a pair of 13 port hubs and the correct wires.   this was  a big issue for me I freaked out complained bitterly on this site saying they are on my s list I will never buy again .  they reached out to me fixed all issues even the one I did tearing down a rig to pull a 20 port hub since they did not send me the correct hub and ran out of stock..  this error cost me about 200 usd. they gave me 180 in refunds and let me keep the pair of 13 port hubs.

order 4708 I grabbed 5 gridseeds at the new price of 60 each for members.  they were silver not gold and they are used.  but so far they work fine.  At 60 bucks I am willing to buy used just tell me they are used.   oh 1 bad usb2 cable.

order 4830 2 power bricks and 1 gold grid seed new at 60 for the grid seed .   power bricks good   second perfect order.

order 4982 2 grid seeds at 60 each comes tomorrow.

based on my orders they did 3000 orders in about  32 days.  they also host a lot of hash power.

my guess is they need more staff and are overworked.  as for the post office not showing that it was shipped.

I sell a lot on ebay and I use the post office a lot .  If you do not walk you delivery up to the window and have them scan a receipt the post office fucks it up a lot.

So I go 3 to 6 times a week. almost every day if I have a hot item..  I let them scan in my prepaid  labels.  but and here is a big but if you go with 5 packages they ask you to use a scan sheet.
guess what they fuck the scan sheets up a lot.

So what happens is   a guy selling 100 or 200 items a day gets a shit load of no scans.  Unless he makes friends with a clerk at the local post office.

I don't defend many sellers on this site. (DzCoop people will understand why)   but I think if you are east coast based GAW out of Massachusetts with a cc or paypal is your best choice as a seller.

I will order from them again.  I just wish they had better quality control.  But they have fixed everything I mentioned.  (well they don't list the 60 usd grid seeds for members as used so far 5 of 6 were used.)

I do not mind paying 60 for used ones just tell us.
