Just copy the Dogecoin website and change everything to Noodlyappendagecoin and related images.  It worked for them, why can't it work for us?

But, I do have some web people that might be able to do something. Once again, if they like me, every have that mythical free time.

Also, I was moving some DNS things around and might have caused a drop in resolution for a while.
Nobody posted about it / contacted me. But if you could not get to the sites, yeah I know and it's fixed.

Honestly, to me @jerry0 doesn't look any worse than bunch of other forum members (that are even getting paid for their nonsense) so I would say the best course of action is to simply put him on ignore list if you are annoyed by his posting style and move on.

You can see jerry0 repeatedly asking same fake questions, and problem is that other members got involved in this futile conversations with him.
Many people don't mind those kind of conversations simply because they are getting paid for them, so why not getting into argument with some troll and fill your signature quota? Then again, sometimes it's kinda hard not to answer, even if you know that its just trolling and nothing else..

I actually commented about this a while ago. Would have to go dig up my post but essentially you would have one of your 3 accounts post a question / comment that has been responded to many times before, then you have your 2nd account reply with a legitimate answer. Then the 3rd chimes in with the "this has been discussed before" comment. The 1st then replies thanks and the thread stops there more or less. But you got 2 posts in from one account and 1 post in from the 2 other accounts.

Do that a few times a week and you can make your post counts for a sig campaign.

*Yes, it seems a bit dishonest to comment about doing that while wearing a sig but the point is still valid.

It could be an account farmer, but I can't tell for sure yet.
If he's got several accounts, he might have been an account farmer once upon a time, but I doubt there are many people farming accounts these days because of the merit system.  Having several accounts doesn't necessarily make you an account farmer, either.  Nor would I have suspected that of jerry0 solely because of what he posts.  Everything I've read from him has been in the Hardware Wallet section, and he doesn't strike me as writing nonsense at all--to me, he comes off as very paranoid about the safety of his coins and his ignorance about HW wallets.

Yeah, he does seem to be a little bit slow on the uptake when members give him answers to his questions, but I've never viewed that as anything suspicious.  He's not a typical shitposter, either.  When he posts questions (or whatever), it generally looks as though he puts some thought into them, regardless of how disorganized or clouded that thought is.

If you're frustrated with jerry0, just put him on ignore.  There are members who are much, much worse than him, and you don't have to reply to his questions if you don't want to.

Yes there are people who are much worse.
But I do feel something is "off" with him, just not sure what. I put him on ignore a while ago and honestly forgot about it until I saw this thread.
At a *guess* he is putting in some work or at least trying to put a bit of work into farming and ranking up but not a lot of work.

Well shit, I guess I have to go buy my uranium on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/133753945375 and Amazon https://smile.amazon.com/s?k=B08R6BN7F7 instead of getting from my Indian supplier.
As DigitalFox said without knowing it's purity and refinement how dangerous it is, is just a guess.

Anything that just has a hastag instead of a link to a real news story is 99.99999% of the time not worth even looking at as news.

Still looking for someone to re-do the site into something that looks like it was made this decade.
Also, would be nice to have a few more "permanent" nodes that can be added into the coins DNS seeds for people to sync.

Still chugging along, might have more time to do things this summer but can't be sure.

My expectation is that Chauvin's guilty verdict is eventually overturned.

Overturned, no.
Granted another trial, possibly.

Considering that he has now been federally indicted it's a tough call from a legal perspective on how to proceed.
That's now 2 grand juries and 1 court case that he lost. Might be better to work on getting a sentencing / plea deal.

Remember if he is found guilty in the federal trial, the Office Space quote comes into play. "We're not going to some white-collar resort prison. No, no, no! We're going to federal POUND ME IN THE ASS prison!"

If you plea it down and work on a deal, you can go to golf resort prison, you go to trial you take your chances.

4329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MARA Pool mined its first 'clean' block today on: May 08, 2021, 11:27:31 AM
Antpool, Poolin and F2pool will bow down to another Chinese copycat of OFAC.

I have never been so grateful that US and China are rivals and hope they hate each other in the future. Which means China will take US' blacklists as sh*t and vice versa.

China would have a different set of addresses that they would want blocked.

All it would take is a few lost blocks and some publicity about the fact that because of what they do they are loosing money doing it to kill any more attempts (at least public attempts) at doing it.

Picking on kano.is and btc.com if they both started not mining OFAC transactions. But did not tell everyone about it. One of the smallest and one of the largest pools could probably do it for YEARS before someone ever noticed. Yeah, there might be some people scratching their heads as to why this transaction was mined and not that one. But 10 minutes or so later another pool that does not care would mine it and life goes on.

Telling everyone / bragging about it, that is what is going to get people against you.

4330  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: cryptocurrency gift tax on: May 07, 2021, 11:50:07 PM
Without knowing what country you are in it's impossible to give you an answer.
In most of them they would have to pay tax on the $1000 that it went up.
Some tax gifts above a certain amount.
Others never tax gifts.

Best advice is to contact a local tax professional.

Here is released github code v0.5 with instructions for creating your won BlockClock Micro device that is ten times cheaper than original BlockClock Mini.
In theory this should even work on cheaper esp32 devices but I didn't test it myself so I can't confirm it.

https://github.com/kkdao/micro-blockclock

Depending on where you are in the world the https://m5stack.com/products/basic-core-iot-development-kit may be cheaper at other places.

Check out https://www.adafruit.com/ you can put together a setup that you may like better (screen, case, etc)
They are a good business to support for all these kinds of things: https://www.adafruit.com/about

I get most of my RPi and other stuff from them.

Off to go spend some money on something else I don't need. Bitcoin @ $60k nah, that's cheap, all the collectables and other BTC related stuff, that's expensive...

4332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Recover Bitcoin Cash from empty BitCore wallet? on: May 06, 2021, 11:47:12 PM
You should move this to the altcoin section.
Yes you can. So long as you have access to the private key you can import it or sweep into another account.
There are many other forks too, including BSV / BCHA and others.
Just in case something goes wrong, you should start with the most valuable forks and work your way down in value.

4333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MARA Pool mined its first 'clean' block today on: May 06, 2021, 11:19:31 PM
The question that I do not see answered is how far back they go in checking for blacklisted addresses.
Just the last transaction or 2 or 3 or 5 or 10 TXs back.

Going back too far is just going to cause problems and I can see some of the other mining pools forming a group that just ignores all blocks from them and then takes their chances that another friendly pool builds on top of their chain.

Not to be an ass about it but if Antpool, Poolin and F2 all get together and say fuck MARA I really don't think the rest of the world would give them any grief. Just because of what they are doing.

If they said lets do it to slush or btc.com I could see people freaking out about it.

Hell, if MARA wants to be 100% safe all they have to do it just mine empty blocks, no risk of bad coins ever....

4334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The United States is increasing its bitcoin hashrate in the region. on: May 06, 2021, 11:33:25 AM
Pool location does not equal miner location.
Picking on ViaBTC at the moment. They are hashing at about 10K PK/s at the moment.
Some of that is from China, some is from the US, some is elsewhere. But the pool itself is in China.
But saying that all of it is China based hash is not correct.

Also, although Texas might be a good location to setup a pool it is not that great to setup a mining operation.
It gets hot in the summer driving up cooling costs.
As the storm this winter proved their electrical system is very fragile.
In the US for the most part the Pacific NW and other areas with massive hydro power and stable weather tend to be better for mining.

4335  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: $100 billion to be invested to increase chip fabrication capacity! on: May 05, 2021, 10:53:52 PM
I had mispoke. It is certain Chinese companies that are associated with the Chinese military/government that cannot buy from TSMC due to a ban on the sale of certain advanced US IP.

From the article:

Quote
60% of sales from the U.S. and about 20% from mainland China
That does not ring true just to the massive amount of manufacturing going on in China vs. the US.
If they said "60% of sales from U.S. companies" that I would believe.

Could just be my view, but I don't see us here in the US making products here using 60% of TSMCs capacity.

Anyway, lets see how some things shake out. There have been some very very minor drops in some chip prices since Monday. Lets see if it's a blip or the being of a chip price slide.

4336  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for founding members for a more anonymous bitcoin. on: May 05, 2021, 11:08:07 AM
I guess the question is why not do it yourself as the end user.
There are a few exchanges out there that allow a fairly decent and allow reliable amount of money in and out per day with no KYC.
I know I have mentioned it in some of the mixers threads:

I have posted it before and I'll say it again.
Mixers are for people too lazy to do something themselves.

Do you want to "mix" your bitcoins. Go ahead it's simple, go to this site and they will do it for you.

Want to do it yourself, yes it's more work but it can be done.
1) Find an open public Wi-Fi
2) Register for an anonymous email account
3) Setup an account with an exchange that has fairly liberal KYC
4) Setup another account with another exchange that has fairly liberal KYC
5) Send coins to 1st exchange, exchange to another coin, send to 2nd exchange, exchange back to BTC, withdraw, done.

If the 1st exchange has XMR or another somewhat anonymous cryptonight coin you can do 2 accounts at the same exchange BTC -> cryptonight -> send to local wallet -> send back to 2nd account at exchange -> withdraw.

Never used a mixer or did the above, never saw any reason to, but it's not that difficult.

Side thought, makes you wonder if some of the exchanges that people say have faked volume are just a bunch of bots doing the above. Doubt it, but you never know.

-Dave

Instead of reinventing the wheel you could probably just make a nice front end API that does this for people.
And as others have said wasabi / whirlpool can also do a good job of anonymizing you coins if you want.

Just my view, not saying I'm right and you are wrong just before you put in a lot of time and effort you might want to consider ways.

4337  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Worker not showing a hashrate on: May 04, 2021, 06:14:25 PM
Need a lot more information then what you have provided.

What hardware are you mining with?
What pool are you connecting to?
What other settings do you have set?
Did it ever give higher hash and then dropped or was it always like this?

4338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Incorporating BTC the way forward for most companies? on: May 04, 2021, 12:12:06 PM
As with a lot of businesses with cash on hand it's another investment. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't.

Years ago Southwest Airlines made more money with their fuel futures purchase then they did flying people around.
Now that new IP4 address space is exhausted there are internet providers and other tech companies making more money leasing their address space then they do with the rest of their business.

If BTC had been doing a slow steady climb instead of the quick jump that it did, this and all the other discussions about Tesla holding BTC would not be happening.

4339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scammers have a hard time with grammar on: May 04, 2021, 11:02:25 AM
If you can spot their mistakes, then you're probably not the person they're looking to scam. With most spam mails, they tend to have obvious tell tale signs but some are done intentionally. This filters the target audience and only targets those who are less meticulous and more gullible. Of course, this may not always be the case but it has happened often enough.

That is part of it. The other side of the coin is that they do not use proper grammar / whatever in their native language and when they run it through Google translate or similar they get it back with bad grammar. As programmers say garbage in -> garbage out.

Not to mention, when these people hire others to do the site / mailing / whatever they tend to go for the cheapest people and you get what you pay for.

4340  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is www.strongutech.com legit or SCAM? on: May 03, 2021, 11:09:14 AM
You can also report it to Google: (need a google email address) https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/guidelines/report-spam

And instead of just reporting it to namecheap via the form you can call / email them:
OrgAbusePhone:  +1-323-375-2822
OrgAbuseEmail:  abuse@namecheaphosting.com

And don't forget the other standard reports for search engines:
Bing: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/concern/bing
duckduckgo: abuse@duckduckgo.com

Remember, the more people who report a site the faster it gets taken down / removed from sear engine indexing, so we can't just rely on the "the other person doing it" if we all do it, it happens faster.
