with a price increase like that sounds very reasonable.

loving the price, we were going to sell some btc a couple months ago for some toys but used fiat instead. while i hodl a good percentage i do sell coins here and there.

Sorry if you have already discussed, someone has a step by step guide to install claymore in ubuntu?

hardest part is installing the video driver. i followed a youtube video. ill try to find the link and post it. once that stuff is installed just decompress claymore to /home or desktop, set up the config and pool text files.

i used ubunto 15.10. btw DONT update the install, i did and it broke claymore. may of been operator error though.

Exactly what I needed to know...

But wait... I put the folder where I thought I could run it, but I still can't straight up run any of it... Good lord, I remember I used to complain about people not using Linux (because of Microsoft bullcrap). Now that I find myself having to use it, it literally makes no sense for any normal person to adopt it for anything other than web browsing and some office work...

I can't even get a file to run, let alone try to install video drivers... Cry

claymores miner already has correct permissions when you decompress the files. i execute it like this from its folder:

Code:
./ethdcrmier64

no command line parameters i set everything in the config.txt, dpool.txt and epool.txt

this is the video i followed, it sets up 15.12
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tc8s5yhylbo

nothing else is needed for claymore.

Talking about Gigabyte 380's... Has anyone tried mining on a Gigabyte 380 w/ 2GB memory? I assume if my 270's work with 2GB, the 380 would work too? But I'm not entirely sure...

mine is a sapphire nitro 380itx 2gb, but works fine in ubuntu 15.10 with no special settings.

Great, thanks. What is your hashrate like?

Also, I'm guessing in Linux, you're using Wine to run Claymore's miner? I know that Linux seems to increase hashrate, but does this also happen when using Wine for windows mining software, if that makes sense? I'm just thinking that windows is an inherent bottleneck or something, so I assume it would be the same if using any windows software..?

20 mhs at 1100 mhz.

not using wine, just grabbed the linux version and copied it to my home folder.

i have 2 sapphire r9390s, one in win7, one on ubuntu. they hash the same.

I don't know why but each time I see one of your thread about difficulty predictions, picks are already closed Undecided...

picks are only open during a window in the middle of each difficulty period. just keep an eye on the thread.
4328  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread june 7 to june 20 -picks are closed!!.... prize = 0.20 btc on: June 08, 2016, 10:51:54 AM
well what will this mean:

Please note that it is a 3-day National Holiday in China from June 9 to June 11, 2016 so we will neither be able to respond to queries nor be able to carry out shipping of any orders or repairs during this time.

their site says s9 b1 will ship 12 july.. was this always the ship date? or did it change with this announcement?

course someone there could switch "on" the stockpile of waiting to be shipped s9s just before the party starts.
4329  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Electricity backup for antminer's on: June 07, 2016, 01:11:27 AM
no, daisy chaining cheap UPSs doesnt work to extend run time. their power output (stepped sinewave) is not clean enough, the 2nd UPS will consider it too dirty and will go to battery itself.

just get  properly sized UPS to begin with.

UPS batteries only last a couple three years anyway if they are used a few times a month like mine are. crappy power here at the end of the line. so the used office ones probably have hardly any capacity left.

4331  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BITMAIN!! Make a 200-400 Watt miner!! on: June 02, 2016, 01:32:49 PM
200-400 watt miner would be nice.

i have around a 1200 watt "budget" for summer mining, and i prefer to spread it out. currently 5 compacs lotto mining, and a few gpus on eth. that leaves around 400-500 watts that im reserving for sidehack projects.
4332  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Look what a little birdie brought me ;) on: June 01, 2016, 10:42:36 AM

gotta redo the usb cable (inject 5v into it) and figure out how to mount the peltier.
Great! Let me see your results asap, I´m curious Smiley!

hopefully have something in the next few days, gotta fit it in between household and yard projects. actually been meaning to do it for months heh.

4335  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner declares bankruptcy due to increased competition, upcoming halving on: May 31, 2016, 04:44:59 PM

Doesn't the PCI-E 'spec' call for a 75W "max" on 6 pin?

the pci-e spec is for computer cards only. so to be within spec for computers its 75/6 pin 150/8pin

the connector itself is rated 150/6 pin 300/8 pin as other have said.

4337  Other / Off-topic / Re: I spent all my saving on bitcoin, now i am broke on: May 30, 2016, 06:48:45 PM
it probably was mentioned already but flash memory does not last forever. years probably but 10+? bitrot..

use thumb drives but also archive quality CD/DVD, quality paper (laminate it), engrave the seed on stainless steel etc.
4338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: May 29, 2016, 06:15:15 PM
induktor

bittrex allows you to mine from the pool (nanopool) straight to a bittrex account. then exchange to btc and transfer out.

no idea if fees etc are good/bad compared to other places, its just what i used till mist got synced up.

now i mine to mist but mist is not ready for prime time.

btw a ssd help hugely for wallets.

i have the next week off from work, which just means house/yard/automotive work is priority now in stead of day job  Tongue

but getting a compac on here is on the list. 1st gotta get my ubuntu eth miner up and running, then... COMPAC TIME!

have a peltier Ive been dying to try out on it, as well.
4340  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: May 27, 2016, 11:01:41 PM
Im running on a rPi B (not the "2"). heck I never reboot it, maybe every couple months I update its OS. pretty much I just ignore it. use kanos api in cgminer-gekko to check mining stats from whatever networked device im on at the time.

pretty bulletproof setup with 5 compacs on superbpag 70 watt hub. hub lays down on its side so the compacs are horizontal with a 140mm fan just laying on top.
