From the desk of Numerai Revisited:I actually read this article a day or two ago! It's a good read, but I'm not sure we're "there" yet. There's a lot more interesting smart contracts that will turn into "smart algorithms" or some-such until people are able to figure out how they work and trade against them. To me, it seems very very unlikely that someone creating a smart hedge fund will not eventually trade against it anonymously once people invest in it. Be careful of shysters who claim to be working in your best interest. If someone cannot clearly explain how they make you money, then YOU are the way THEY make money. Until we have blockchain-based smart contracts, take stories like this with a HUGE grain of salt.  Normally, encryption kind of messes up data to such an extent that you loose all predictive structure after you encrypt something. But Numerai has a very special form of encryption that enables it to actually pass data to the crowd and that's the big innovation of Numerai. With all due respect to Numerai [and Norman Packard], something doesn't smell right. e.g. ... <in the voice of the entity (I) who created/runs the "very special form of encryption thingy">: I love Kellogg cereal. Today, I will buy X amount of Kellogg shares knowing full well that within 48 hours its price is gonna rise thanks to the use of my "very special form of encryption thingy" blasting data to my special astute investors. <three days later> Fuck me in the ass! Like WTF, only 11.4% profit? Fuck Kellogg's! Today I'm going to buy X shares of World Wrestling Entertainment AND Premier Exhibitions, then tweak my "very special form of encryption thingy" just a tad prior to blasting the el pumpo to, again, my special astute investors. According to my calculations performed on my Casio calculator, I should have no prob recognizing no less than 18.1043% on the ROI meter.  "Numerai!"

Do you think it's possible? I believe so via a modified off-the-shelf drone equipped with solar panels and navigating software.
Program it to rest or recharge on flat (or slightly inclined) roofs, fields, etc.
Program it to recognize a threat, e.g., something greater than a certain size approaching, whereupon it powers up and takes off to another rest area if not yet fully charged.
Program it to make sure it has enough power in reserve for at least two repositionings at night if approached.
Program GPS parameters to fly mostly away from heavily populated areas.
Program it to communicate its whereabouts, with a live video stream being an optimal choice.
Launch when it looks like the projected path will have favorable weather conditions.
Would be great if there's a prize attach to such an endeavor for the first ever successful documented flight so to encourage competition perhaps from University alongside private entities. Or, a yearly contest to see who could fly their drone the furthest without any further input after its launched, with flying coast to coast being the goal. Time to accomplish the feat is not of importance, for it will take days to complete.
There could be an exception to the no-interference rule for ONLY simple repairs like motors or blades wearing out, but not the solar panels or modifying any programs.

Yeah, so where do you think is the best place to be stabbed and produce a decent amount of blood but not kill myself, and what kind of knife would be the safest?
If anyone is interested I can post the video of it afterwards. But we are trying to take all precautions because I really dont want to have to explain this to someone in the ER.

Unless your power costs are like $0.50/kwh OR you are using old GPUs ( 280x) you should still be pulling in a profit.
My new place here in Arizona includes free electricity. I'm seriously exploring the option of getting my life-long bud (in the same complex) into mining altcoins. Please advise me of the profitability of such given that free electricity is part of the equation. TBC, mining any POW (or perhaps POS) alts is on the table. Thanks in advance. I'm now watching this thread for future replies. Since you don't own any hardware now, i would't recommend starting mining at this point. It would take too long to hit ROI.
