Bitcrate will probably not be paying out for a couple days, as we're expecting our first child *very* soon. As a result, I'm kind of busy with more pressing matters. Smiley

I would suggest one to look closer at what Bitcoin can allow in terms of personal security of ones own money.

Look at the systems and services that are being built to work with it...  For example I find Open Transactions to be something exciting that will work very well along side Bitcoin.

https://github.com/FellowTraveler/Open-Transactions/wiki

Quote
The real beauty of Open-Transactions is the as-yet-unwritten future of new ideas that you can build with it, and the future liberty and security of your children that you can help to protect by doing so—in a very real and tangible way.
...
The vision is not of a central server that you must trust.
Rather, the vision is of federated servers you don’t have to trust.

Really? Did you get a message saying that on their website or did you just not receive
anything yet?  I just tried it and got the same 'your request has been queued' message.
There currently is no jackpot available but that is different than their regular payout.

strike sapphire  not available in florida, USA

To comply with USA laws.  You can read more about that in their thread in the gambling section.

4331  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The gauntlet has officially been thrown down by Trendon Shavers aka. pirateat40 on: August 22, 2012, 12:35:26 AM
To set up a bet of that nature is tacky...

+1

A distinct lack of character and maturity.  The kind of disgusting display you would expect from a bunch of drunken frat boys.
Doesn't reflect too well on the Bitcoin community imo...
4332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: August 21, 2012, 09:31:01 PM
Well if Pirate investors see Pirate posting on here to take Matthew's bet they know they are in trouble.

That's what I was thinking.  What's to keep Pirate from making a bet/s ( through a proxy [or proxies] ) and then just waiting longer than 3 weeks... and then use the winnings from the bet to payout?   Cheesy

Maybe this has already been pointed out in the 20 pages of this thread that I am not going to read all of...
4333  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you trust MtGox? on: August 21, 2012, 03:53:29 PM
I like to keep only my day-trading coins there and the rest are maintained as securely as a suitcase of cash.

+1

MtGox, and any of the exchanges, are not meant to be a places to store ones money.
Only keep as much there as you plan to trade near-term.

Who uses these gambling sites?

Dragon's Tale
A casino site, but gives out small amounts for free that you can use to gamble with or withdraw to your own Bitcoin wallet.

Seals with Clubs
Seals has a free poker tournament every hour with a .05BTC prize. There are larger free tournaments from time to time.
See here for more info.

Strike Sapphire
See here for more info.

Do they still give away free bitcoins... have free rolls etc... while not having any wagering requirements that would keep people from freely withdrawing the coin to ones own wallet?

Seals With Clubs has an hourly WTA Freeroll. The prize is 50 chips or .050 bitcoins.

Thanks. I was also told that Dragon's Tale still gives out small amounts for free ( check the soldier statues ).  Anyone use Strike Sapphire?

Read this:
Alternative Block Chains : be safe!

My opinion: Stick with Bitcoin and perhaps Namecoin. Everything else is just a type of pump 'n dump scam coin created to try and get people excited about being an "Early Adopter"... they have no other purpose.

Yes it is a scam. Quickly uninstall bitcoin before it's too late! Luckily you are smart enough to discover the truth!  Shocked

scam sites, untrustworthy people, hackers and pyramid schemes
Oh you mean the SAME things that exist with dollars or euros?  Roll Eyes

why are forum members supporting the scams?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74046.0;all

is it just because they find it funny that people get tricked or what?

It is not just forum members but the forum itself!!!1   That is a part of the New to Bitcoin? Start here! thread!   Shocked

You've exposed a major conspiracy my boy!  Keep up the good work and you may be asked to work with Phinnaeus Gage.  He is no doubt getting ready to start his next big attention grabbing witch hunt.    Cheesy

you're just continuing mocking me and trying to belittle me because one of the scam sites is yours..

I am mocking your action of joining a forum and the first thing you do is start accusing people of being scammers, and supporters of scammers, without showing the least bit of evidence to support your claim. Is that a nice way to treat people?

What, did you try one of those free bitcoin sites and get upset when it didn't pay you instantly?  You know you may have to wait a while because a lot of those sites only payout once a day or so to save on transaction fees.  Show a little bit of maturity and investigate things a little bit before freaking out and throwing around accusations.

And no I don't run any of those free bitcoin sites. I just maintain the thread.
