Price seems to be crashing.... up  Smiley

I might be wrong and been many times but this definitely doesn't look like something that has serious support to go up and stay there. 120-130 (if not lower) looks much, much more realistic than above. You can smell the fear on the market.

Hi organofcorti, you did not answer regarding what's in your opinion a reasonable price for Avalon batch #4 (45GHs) if it arrives to customers hands in July. I'd appreciate your opinion on that...

Did you read the post? There's no simple answer, although I do give my opinion. Plus I can't accurately model July yet, although I did create a chart for you anyway.

I'll give  you the conclusion:

Quote
3. Conclusions
  • If the network hashrate increases linearly, cumulative earnings increase logarithmically.
  • The earlier mining is deployed after the onset of the long term linear hashrate increase, the more is earned earlier compared to later. The later mining is deployed after the onset of the long term linear hashrate increase, the more the cumulative earnings approximate that of a miner in a network with a constant hashrate.
  • Since there's no simple short term cumulative earning maximum, I haven't been able to comply with the request Rampion and zedicus made - I hope the charts above are sufficient.

If you're asking me what I would choose, I'd be using the 100% line in the bottom plot to determine what I'd pay per Ghps for a mining device priced in BTC, so that I'd expect to have paid for the mining device and cleared the same amount again within sixty days - but only if I had a reasonable idea of when I'd be able to deploy it.

Thanks for that, I did not read the post - 0.03 donation on your way Wink

Aw shucks, you didn't have to do that! But I appreciate it anyway Smiley

Your posts and insights are one of the most useful sources of information around - so no need to thank me. Thanks to you!

Its not much just a small thank you.

Best Regard,

Well, it was much appreciated. More so than a beer would have been, even if you'd been able to send me beercoins. Here's the best I could do to help you figure out a good price for an ASIC miner. If you don't understand anything just post in the comments.

Yeah, it's not quite the real thing, but still we have some bullish news despite the bubble burst. This is VERY different from what we had in 2011.

4328  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: April 26, 2013, 10:50:35 AM
I bet you there's a guy who bought a lot of BFLs when they started taking money, then bought a lot of Avalon 2s when they started pre orders, and lots of batch 3 pre ordered as well. That guy may as well have bought in at 31 dollars last last crash, and 266 last crash. It wasn't you, wasn't it?

LOL

I think I bought at 250 then sold at 51.
I'm pretty sure that's not a good plan.

I didn't expect that from you Prof, just buy and hold Wink
4329  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 26, 2013, 10:44:54 AM
Real support is at $120, if we break it next real support is $85/90

Hopefully we see sub $50 coins soon  Grin
4330  Economy / Speculation / Re: Found support where I hoped on: April 26, 2013, 10:41:23 AM
I have no idea about TA, but my gut feeling is the following: if we break under $120, next bounce will be at $85ish

And I have the sensation that we will enter in mid-term bear market. Bottom will not be so low as per 2011, and the recovery won't be so slow, because the fundamentals are stronger and the media attention is still positive.

4332  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: nitrous on: April 26, 2013, 09:23:18 AM
Is it important that your bot remain closed source? I don't have anything against closed source, but if you're willing to give access to your source code to those on the beta list, who could potentially release it themselves, why not just release the code to the public?
Hi nitrous Wink
Yes it is necessary that the bot remain closed source. The business model will be embedded in the source code and I can't allow people to just comment out those lines.
People on betalist will have to sign an NDA and will face consequences if distributing the source without authorisation.

Thank you again for your suggestions!

The part in bold sounds very bad...
4333  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: @ the end of the BFL queue on: April 26, 2013, 09:20:50 AM
If they don't ramp up production they won't be selling many more.

I wonder how many of their units are mining in-house while you guys wait.

With all the units they have ready, which means only a few, because they are BAD at what they do.
4334  Economy / Speculation / Re: We`ve hit the top. Now return to "normal" TA on: April 26, 2013, 09:00:38 AM
Very low? Very low is below $20 my friend. Anything above $20 is still huge gains compared to where we were just at the end of 2012.

I'm ready to buy all the coins available at $50, my fiat is waiting for that moment btw Cheesy

You trust holding large amounts of fiat at exchanges? You must be really dumb.

Alternative hypotheses, you are talking shit and the reality is you have a small amount of money available in an exchange.

Really dumb? And how do you think that traders trade? You need both fiat and BTC on the exchange, you knew that?

In fact at this moment there are +$20M sitting on Gox's order book, plus +130KBTC. Lot's of dumb people, right?

Of course there are risks, bitcoin trading is risky for many things, and the poor infrastructure is one of them.

Nevertheless, there was never a single case of hacked account at Gox that used 2FA (youbikey and/or google authenticator). Yes, there can always be a first time... But it's a risk you will have to take if you want to trade intra-day.
4335  Economy / Speculation / Re: Its not bottom yet. It will crash under 100 just wait for it. on: April 26, 2013, 08:42:27 AM
Let's see how long it takes for the OP to have a very colored ignore button.

BEcause im not bullish ? oh snap Smiley

No, not because of that. We have a lot of bears, from Proudhon to Evolve, which are respected because their arguments are sound and clever.

You just keep spamming the boards with the SAME topic. Yeah, price is dropping. It's very likely it will drop hard. Everybody can see it. If you don't have better arguments to back up your statements just STFU or get a very colored ignore button - this is how it works.

Another bull want go high as sky. Dont worry Smiley

You are mistaken. Every crash is a buying opportunity in my book. I'm in this long term, and if we go to $20 I would still be way up compared to my initial investment... and I would take the chance to buy a shitload of coins that would go directly to cold storage.

any time any says this on the forums, they are showing their hand. expect to be undercut by every single lurker. you will never get your coins at $X if you tell people you expect it to bottom out at $X -- because then it won't.

and we're not seeing $50 again, at least for the mid-term, at this point.

Well, a man can dream, a man can dream... I've been expecting a big crash to go "all in" since we were at $30ish, I keep dreaming about that.
