780 dollars for 2xHD 5970 is my offer.  Cool
4342  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7970 + Previous Generation Card on: January 20, 2012, 03:58:29 AM
Thanks for all of the responses.
I have a bad 5870 Sad
Swapped in a different 5870 and it booted right up, checked with a 6950 as well and worked perfectly.
Odd thing is, with just that 'bad' 5870 in, it will boot and mine... who knows.

These things happen with multiple cards, very few people actually use more than 1 or max. 2 GPUs for everyday gaming and work.
When I connect one of my HD 5850s in slot1 and another (same model, etc.) in slot2, I'll be getting BSODs after half an hour of mining. When I switch the cards all works fine. In slot3 there is a 6850.

bump!

4344  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: January 20, 2012, 12:11:29 AM
Started mining in June, this is my rig, 2x HD 5850 and 1x HD 6850, planning to replace 6850 with a 58xx and add 1-2 more GPUs (some 58xx) by next month. Had to replace Corsair VX 550 because it broke after approx. 336h of continuous load of ~600W (all GPUs and Q9300 overclocked and overvolted). TX850 is fine now Wink

4345  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5850 Low mhs new build on: January 19, 2012, 11:28:45 PM
Mine doesnt lock and crash @ 940-950 (depends on the cards) / 300, with standard (1.088V) voltage (it's a sapphire extreme non-ref)
What brand is it? Reference or non-ref?

I recall that I mentioned this kernel is for SDK 2.6+, sorry!
It's totally ok for this kernel to not work well for older SDK versions.

Dia

My fault then Tongue

Wasn't SDK 2.6 the one that was significantly slower? Which driver version would you recommend to work along with SDK 2.6?
4349  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: further improved phatk OpenCL Kernel (> 4% increase) for Phoenix - 2012-01-13 on: January 18, 2012, 11:40:25 PM
minus 12 Mhash/s for HD 6850
minus 25 Mhash/s for each of my HD 5850s

compared to guiminer from July 1st :/

PS. Yes, I did experiment with flags, etc.

drivers: 11.5 and 2.3 stream SDK
OS: win 7 64 pro
4350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] RealCoin - Targeted to the IM world! on: January 17, 2012, 10:36:21 PM
So far I do not see any advantages over Bitcoin - disadvantages have been mentioned.

Too centralized (at least for now)

Security throught obscurity? :d

What's the USP??? How will you encourage people to use Realcoin when no one is using it - which is not the case of Bitcoin.
If I type digital currency I will see 5 results related (in title or description) to Bitcoin if I type cryptocurrency it will be all but two.
IMHO what you are offering now is not enough to convince people to use you currency - I wouldn't be surprised if people would only mine on it for a few weeks to sell it off on the exchange and then forget about it.

Everything you have mentioned so far can be done with Bitcoin, it is a matter of time before Bitcoin becomes more noob-friendly.

Investing $10k+ only shows you are seeking financial profit here (which is not bad, I am a capitalist myself) but people are allergic to that here (and so am I a bit). I think you would do better developping some businesses/products/services on the Bitcoin market.

What I don't understand is why do people think making dozens of 'competing' cryptocurrencies is good here, do you think everyone will bother installing 20+ clients for each cryptocurrency, downloading 20 blockchains, etc.? I am not saying it is a bad idea but I believe the Bitcoin market and community to be still too small for divisions.

4351  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Captcha Solving for BTCs on: January 17, 2012, 10:14:58 AM
Someone could just go around kindergartens/pre-schools and SELL them access to some CAPTCHAs to solve on their website and submit answers. After trying to solve 100 CAPTCHAs a pop-up screen with their success rate would show up, maybe some funny picture to encourage them to continue.
Children would get to learn new vocabulary and learn spelling (not to mention testing their eye vision).

I'll try to post pics tomorrow, payment methods are BTC, paypal, SEPA wire transfer or some escrow but I'd prefer to use BTC if possible.

I'm in the same situation as you. It is difficult to raise a response from Shakaru; he would not respond to my emails for nearly a month, only after I contacted him via a PM on this forum did I get one. Even then it's just excuses, revolving around how exchanges have locked up his funds or how his facilities are about to go online. I am starting to not care if it's the truth or not; moreover whether he is capable of running this organization.
I bought my contract in late August last year and my 'rig' has still not been activated. We did come to an agreement that a counter would go up on the 25th of September, which it did. But, I have only received 35 bitcoins over the course of this. Now I am owed around 150 bitcoins. With this number only increasing, I see a dwindling chance of getting my money back. I'm now going to force this issue and stop playing Mr. Patient. It is time to pay up!

The reason I bought a contract is so that I did not have to deal with the headaches of mining..... I am wholly disappointed in this company. More to come.

Similar experience.
Bought a contract at more or less the same time (August 28th) but lost patience after 6 weeks of waiting and decided to end it.
Got most of the money back in October but have since been waiting for the missing $200........................

@shakaru

Can you at least get to spell my forum nickname correctly?
4354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which cryptocurrencies are now more profitable to mine than BTC? on: January 15, 2012, 11:42:04 AM
Are there any, is merged mining available for all of them?

What about cpu-based ones, e.g. Litecoin? I couldn't find any mining hardware comparisons and profitability calculators for mining alternate cryptocurrencies, how much money (in $) would I make from a Q9300 @ 3.5 GHz per 24h?
4355  Economy / Services / Re: Shades Minoco - A different type of mining company on: January 15, 2012, 12:13:18 AM

Contacted you by email - no answer.
When I wrote in this thread I got this from you:

Quote
Hey. I cant get into my inbox right now as Im not able to get to my office. What did you send?

So then i PM'd you on January 7th and then again on January 13th so far no response from you.

We all know you have some financial problems but it's been 4.5 months since you got my money and you still owe my some of it ($200 to be exact).

Awaiting your answer,
Malevolent

4357  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Overclocking 5850 on: January 14, 2012, 04:38:14 PM
I have several 5850s, from MSI, XFX and sapphire. None of them have trouble clocking over 775, but if you use windows (which you shouldnt IMO), then you have to disable catalyst control center, and just set the clocks in cgminer. I dont use anything else, no tricks, afterburner or whatever. cgminer lets you control clocks, fans and voltages, no need for anything else.
Beware of flashing bioses..

cgminer didn't work for my sapphire 5850s extreme, nor did barelyclocked, msi afterburner, ccc, ati tray tools and a plethora of tools I now don't remember. All of them had some limits on clocks, between 725 and 900, only sapphire trixx worked for me (tried over 1 GHz on GPU core and worked so far, same goes for memory - lower limits available).
Flashing bioses is fine as long as you know what you are doing, it was the only way for me to raise voltage on 5850s.

P.S. trixx also support non-sapphire cards, it works on my vertex 3d 6850.

but I'm certainly not going to post them as all it'll attract is snide remarks and the same lame old jokes from the usual idiots (see above).

You don't mean to say it's 6-8 weeks again, do you?
4360  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - The most advanced Bitcoin Client in existence! on: January 12, 2012, 11:36:12 PM
Haven't read the whole thread but if you have time you could add vanitygen and oclvanitygen with all the available options to click conveniently (some options: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25804.msg675624#msg675624 )

Will donate once I have time to test it this weekend. Smiley
