I'm not sure who did it first, i first heard similar technology coming from AMD. A quick search found some articles such as; http://wccftech.com/amd-working-hynix-development-highbandwidth-3d-stacked-memory/And for quantum computing, i suppose if we had a true quantum processor able to emulate conventional computers software (base 8/binary), i believe that could indeed throw a wrench in current encryption of all kind. But such computers would be qualified strictly as military grade for the long foreseeable future, hopefully it would be done gradually as a sudden jump in technology always cause much chaos. HBM isn't comparable to 3D Xpoint because it is just not as fundamentally different to what we have today. However, it is much better than GDDR5. To simplify: "High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) is a high-performance RAM interface for 3D-stacked DRAM memory from AMD and Hynix. "HBM gen. 1 has already been released in commercial products (AMD Fury), and HBM gen. 2 is coming very soon. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FQpnsAaP.png&t=663&c=H1doF5mE8cxSwQ) As the image clearly shows the benefits for GPUs are there and we are supposed to see generation 2 products in 2016.
Update: Some corrections. I see, i'm not sure how "fundamentally different" it is, it actually sound like it is just an evolutionary technology over AMD's HBM, for memory. 3D Xpoint is a still-in-development-phase technology true, but also happen to be coming right after AMD's HBM. It seem to me its Intel's project to keep in the race. The main article itself( link) mention the technology is also basically stacking chips on top of one another. Though i suppose i'll need to wait for a proper comparison of the completed systems to further comment. I just very much doubt it will stop at Ram for AMD and non volatile storage for Intel.

Greece will receive another money from EU countries and will continue to spend it ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) i dobut they continue this farce, EU will not pay anything more in terms of helping them, if they can't come up with something that can get rid of their bad economic condition, they are probably out of the european union, for good this time it would be funny if they waste the last 80B loan, that they borrowed from the central bank...i think it's a likely scenario bound to happen eventually All the ECB has done is extended a guaranteed dead. The final destination of Greece is suffering and poverty, it's either now, or it's either in a matter of months when shit will hit the fan. Greece should be treated like a post-war country which is exactly the situation it's at and get some real help, not this austerity bullshit. It is bullshit, but its not like the government is collapsed. As incompetent they may or may not be, you need to cut the head to replace it with a new head, because that's pretty much what is "given as real help to post war countries". Just watch the American, that's how they do it. (Though they arent shy of dealing the destruction themselves first either ;P) I'm not sure anything more is going to roll unless they sell out Greece. But what do i know.

You could make 100 posts a day with sig campaign
100 posts a day!!! It's just spamming the forum and you are most likely going to be banned. I don't know, Amph post a whole ton and his post quality remain acceptable. Personally i can't keep it up after a few posts i have to take a break or i kind of run out of juice. If i continue i'd just get jaded and my post quality would probably wither away. There's hundreds of active threads and dozens being created every day. So its not like there's lack of content to comment on or participate in. I would not say it is equal to spamming at all, but its true not many people can keep up that Job.

Guess what boys? Not even a month into it and the old S3 CRUSHED IT!!!!

Blocks found: 1
if you were to mine that same block in solo not in a pool, you would not be able to catch it, finding a block in solo is different than finding a block in a pool, it was explained already i need to find the post btw DrG explained it This was solo, my friend. CK's pool is a solo pool. You don't find a block, you don't get paid. I still mine solo on my own node 99.99% of the time, but with a power loss my bitcoin-core database had to be reindexed (dumbest program ever) so for around two days I was on CK's solo pool. Now I have 25 BTC in my pocket. I'm selling off about 10 BTC to pay off some debt, pay taxes ( biggest hit, Thanks Obama!), and pay God 10%, then the rest is going in the rathole until I need it. I'll consider it a retirement account ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Hey that's disgustingly lucky (by my own terms). Congrats. Do you throw alot of hashrate normally at solo mining? Over here 25BTC would be like 3 years of spendable cash for me.

I'll believe Mark Karpeles wil get prosecuted and put in jail only when I see it with my own eyes. He has way too much money, people with millions never end up in jail. He will probably bribe the justice or something and get out of jail as soon as possible.
Stupid Millionaire do end up in Jail. Which one is he? I guess we'll find out soon. I think it would be a good example if he was thrown in jail or such. Something very severe. It would raise morale and maybe remind potential scammer to think twice before doing it. The scammer vs justice scoreboard look pretty bleak so far.

If anyone is interested in this "technology", this is a little spiel on his thoughts about it. http://thememoryguy.com/micronintel-3d-xpoint-raises-more-questions-than-answers/on the other hand Intel and Micron unveil 3D Xpoint™ technology and create the first new memory category in more than 25 years. [Citation needed]Over the last 25 years there has been many memory types been developed (eg:CBRAM, SONOS, RRAM, Racetrack memory, NRAM, Millipede memory and FJG) by not only intel, but basically all major memory companies, eg, Hynix, Sandisk, Corsair, etc.. now I thought this might of been a processor development (some quantum quadrant bit process) that may have just thrown Any calculation process to the dirt, Thank goodness I was wrong! i think the only thing that could throw the asic's for a 6 would be quantum processing. I'm not sure who did it first, i first heard similar technology coming from AMD. I've heard many of cloud mining websites after few months turn to be scams and run with whatever money that have from the contracts
I'm not sure cloud mining is a profitable solution to me(or for most people really, it seem kind of a gamble or a very very slow thing). Personally electricity where i live is cheaper than any hosted solution i found. But if i did, i don't think i would trust many website. I would probably stick with Bitmain's cloud since they have been selling ASIC for quite a while. Even though i would argue Bitmain's practice has some dubious ethics in a few areas, i would believe them slightly less likely to outright scam people.

I've been informed directly by Bitmain that the external heatsinks have basically little or no effect on cooling, which is why the only shipped a few miners with these mini heatsinks. Probably a waste of time/money IMO. Hah i see. Thanks for your reply. Maybe OP has something to say about that, i think he had a heatsink'd unit and a non heatsink'd unit side by side. I'm always worried something not appearing on temp sensor overheating.

Not sold out, but VERY slow on shipping. Good thing I'm still on high summer electric rate for another month or so or I'd be actively ticked off.
Looks like second hand S5s sold out. Waiting for some news from Bitmain. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) nope not sold out yet still green here as of this posting. It did sold out, when Rabinovich first posted. Now its green again but it appear to be a different batch (of batch 7). The previous one said august 5, this one says "Shipping starts from August 14th after receiving full payment". This is probably why QuintLeo find it slow on shipping. I would like confirmation, did the latest S5 firmware fix the chip not going idle when the S5 lose internet connection? The fan would power down but not the chips.
Wondering if i should order those bimetal thermal thing or not.
It did but for some it had other side affects like hashing cut in half. or speed dropping to 900 GH . The entire problem seems to be hit or miss. I have had an S5 since batch 1. I have lost internet before to the unit and did not get this problem. But others obviously did. I wish we could see what the differences are. That sound troublesome. These second hands are from Batch 7, it makes me wonder what bugs i'm going to get. =/

Agree and as mentioned in other forums selling on ebay easily will cost you 10% of you sale price and you will be stuck dealign with charge backs, and ebays buyer protection. This from personal experience is not ideal for this type of hardware sale, many fraudsters buy and charge back and or pull scams with the seller. This community is very much about the promotion of crypto. So buying and selling here "using escrow is a must" offers a more contractual honorable sale and be it with a minimal escrow fee in most cases. So bottom line you might get less then what you want but you will be more likely not to get ripped off by the buyer or seller trying to scam the other, and you will be paid in some form of crypto which will only appreciate with time while the USD and EUR continue to decline in value every year
If you think the prices are not fair feel free to make an offer. I'd be interested in the S3s if you divided the cost by 4. Might still be too pricy since you'll probably have to slap 40$ per unit extra for shipping, as i'm in Canada. Also bitmain is selling s5 for under 400usd, so that 375usd offer is pretty nice. The Evga g2 arent too bad, i'd be tempted if i had more funds.

Think price will rise till halving and than it will go down a bit. There is so much speculation about the price. everyone will tell you "Buy Bitcoin before halving; it will rise" and than nothing special happens and everyone sells
Question is: When will halving be? With the new miners coming end of the year and early 2016 we will see halving much earlier I think
no we won't early 2016 would be before April 1st I doubt it. Much more likely July or June. New gear no longer drives the diff rate price does. Now if someone puts out a .1watt item that works well and sells lots of it I will be wrong. But If I invented A .1 watt miner I would tell no one and keep it to myself. The game has changed that this is what to do if you are the only builder of a clearly better miner. Don't sell it don't share it mine it. Sadly that is what is indeed happening. It might not be .1, can be .4,.3... Goes on and on, but it does not matter. This cause the hashrate to be centralized and so the system isint as decentralized as it was meant to be. I hope this trend will not continue but clearly, it might. It feel like most ASIC maker selling to public were driven out of business and now Bitmain doesn't even have that big of an incentive to sell efficient miners to the public, they can just sell their own used hardware. You know, like; https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020150725135246063Xsvs9J9J06AE

According to Bitmain they have been used for 40~ days and handled by them, so if the unit you receive was actually handled professionally and properly used and then packaged back to you, the unit should be fine and if it ran 40 days, it might have weeded out a good portion of the defective units.
I ordered a used unit so, if you want, i could report back when i get it, but i am not sure when i'll get it. I picked UPS as option since it was cheaper but i don't know which international service it use. It is possible i get it this week. (Maybe)

31 minutes since the network has solved a block... is that a long time or is it just me
Meh... they are all slow today
2 days ago I saw 57 minutes since the network solved a block, it was a period where about 70Ph fell off for a while, since the diff is based on network hash, then saw a large pool has issues and network looses 70ph, blocks can get quite long. I see that as an issue if say China lost all internet in a massive attack or natural disaster. Since more then 60% of all the hash is in China, we would be in deep dodo with blocks going days! Maybe China should lose internet more often. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) They already have too much hash and could do with less. A big portion of the hash is there and it kinda feel like centralization to me.

What's happening with the 100 post limit guys? Is it staying for another week or will it be removed?
I hope so...posting 100+ times per week is just ridiculous. I vote Bit-x moves to a flat rate per month. If 100 post stays and moves to "per month" you know that will be like... 0.13 BTC/m for Hero Members? Flat rate fixes that problem + cuts back on the shit posts. If they select people based on posts and pay a set amount regardless of post count it is a win win. Bit-x looks good for having solid posts and we get less spam. It seems that here no one care about the spam, because "any publicity is good publicity" ... To be fair i like the no-hassle of "no minimum, no maximum, no worry".

the way that OP is suggesting has a very huge risk involved with it and i don't think it is a good idea for anybody to try it unless you want to lose your bitcoins
Why is investing 1$ in bitcoin a huge risk? But yes it is gamble-y. You're making it sound like it's worse than it is though, it's not a bad starting point, you're just supposed to do more research on the coins you're investing. There's a great deal of information you can get in a coin before investing that can give you an idea of where it might be heading... or where it might not be going ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Never thought about leaving the USA to hide with a few thousand bitcoins? Wheres the safe haven? I'm guessing Mexico is pretty safe if you look like a Mexican(not sure what ethnicity he is), but that pasty red head sticks out like a sore thumb. The light glistening off that glass dildo is bound to get some attention.
Nah, the guy is too dumb to even succeed as a scammer. He's just waiting for an official indictment for major fraud and money laundering, and god only knows what else to do with the hashlet scammery... Does that mean i can have a refund on my hashlet? Haha, joking... I don't know, do you know where he is? It's a bit hard to grab his ass if he's on some tropical place sipping martini with no extradition treaty where money is the law. I mean, they make it look so easy on White Collar (TV Serie) ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
