Legal weed is a fair one, I do think that the US fed government should step out of the way (and have no policy on weed) and allow the states to do as they please on weed.

EXCEPT that days after weed's legalized, they're already running out. In good socialist fashion, they now proceed to the modern equivalent of Soviet bread lines.

Weed lines.

And who is it that will come to the help?

The good old USA, with our illegal but capitalist weed.

What did you expect to happen?  There is a HIGH demand for weed (get it?)

When you legalize weed, and 50% of the population wants some... you will run out because yesterday it was illegal to grow it, so the supply is very limited

Do you think you can grow 5000 tons of cannabis overnight?  It will take many months to ramp up production high enough to meet the demand for it...

This is simple economics and has NOTHING to do with socialism or capitalism... don't be stupid and try making this into something it is not

If this is you taking a pot-shot at socialism (sorry for another double-entendre)... you are a fool
Why, after all the excuses and rationalizations by you socialists, the capitalists to your south stand ready to help, with their cash crops.

I'm doing nothing other than pointing out the total absurdity of Communist bread-line-style pot lines and shortages.

If you have already produced it, it should not be hard to quote then right? Show me empirical data supporting the premise that global warming is a result of human C02 production. Not evidence of correlation, not simulations, not projections, not opinions, empirical data.

But these guys think a mini ice age is coming, and pretty fast.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/science/917000/science-sun-cooling-earth-space-global-warming

In just 30 years time, the sun could be significantly cooler, leaving us with conditions that may result in freezing conditions.

Based on 20 years of observations and collected data, a research team at the University of California in San Diego has calculated that the sun will be seven per cent cooler, and dimmer, by 2050.....
The scientists predict a “significant probability” of a near-future grand minimum because the downward sunspot pattern in recent solar cycles is similar to the period prior to previous grand minimum events.

Fragile liberal goose-stepping snowflakes, rejoice!

You may not melt after all!

Mueller doesn't leak. Pretty sure there's enough shit to burn Trump at this point, it's really about targeting Russian oligarchy networks.

The fact that Cohen's pointing his finger at Trump and saying "fraud and collusion" is pretty damning considering the guy was Trump's personal lawyer.
Bah....

You got nothing but speculation and fantasy.

Moar oil shilling...

Oil shills really dig their feet in deep when they're called out Smiley

Why do you start a discussion if you don't want to discuss anything? It's all about you presenting your point and throwing invectives.
Maybe one day when we deplete our oil supply we'll start thinking about hydrogen, but since there are other alternatives (LPG, biodiesel, electric) I don't see why anyone would choose H2.

The discussion was to reduce the propagation of the myth of hydrogen being more dangerous than petro.

Also, once you add in the total cost of the damages of climate change, you quickly see oil is not the cheaper option.

Neither of these assertions will survive three minutes in honest debate.

as long as the words are right and good there is no such thing as murder.

I'm sure quite a few Muslim extremist terrorists sincerely believed that while they were shouting Allah Akbar and killing innocent men, women and children.

That's a bit of a problem wouldn't you say?

Anyone who believes that by changing man's behavior, such as his burning fossil fuels in cars, the few millimeters rise each year in sea level will stop or reverse, is insane.
Global warming is real and caused by humans and is a true threat to the future. Humans are increasingly influencing the climate and the earth's temperature by burning fossil fuels, cutting down rainforests and farming livestock.
The amounts of greenhouse gases to those naturally occurring in the atmosphere, increasing the greenhouse effect and global warming.
I notice that while you recite the party line, you don't refute what I said. So I bolded it. You can look at it again.

RT can not possibly be any worse, or any better, at fake news that the American media, or that of the world.

It's cool for a private company to be talking about it, but it doesn't advance anything at all. I guess it would be interesting though.

Don't get me wrong, I think Musk soon or later will send the Japanese and their artists to the Moon. And I guess he needs the money. But again he is establishing optimistic dates and is assuming commitments to a date he isn't shore he can fulfill.....

Then he simply has not thought the matter through.
4351  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Man man climate change on: October 21, 2018, 01:40:12 AM
bullshit rambling...
This is science. You don't just get to skip steps and make assumptions because you believe it fits.

Lol, your argument is based on fallacious thought and misunderstandings of science, not actual science. fuck off with the misrepresentation of science, you loony.

Inb4 the bait-and-switch argument in which you drop irrefutable evidence related to your claims, but unrelated to your position.

That's nice. The problem is you are the one making the claims about global warming. The burden of proof IS ON YOU. So far you have presented data you argue is evidence of anthropogenic climate change, but really, even if the science was solid on it, it would only be evidence of rising temperature and C02 levels, then giving no evidence about causes.

You built a house without a foundation, and when I point that out, you demand I refute the roof exists, because if there is a roof there MUST be a foundation right? Learn to science.

Darn it, I never got past the scientific method. Some people have, and they just know it all already, so just write the full equation of climate change out, including the variable set and their definitions and interactions, and I'm okay with that.

Lock Trump up.
Lock him up.
Lock him up.

Treason's a crime that normally carries a death penalty. However, it seems that might only be life in prison.

So, hopefully, we see a public execution, but honestly, it'll probably just be an old rich white jail spending the rest of his life behind bars with his family.

Nobody said anything about a synchronous orbit, or even a singular satellite. The plan actually involves a constellation of multiple satellites.

If the orbit is not synchronous, then the mirror will spend only a tiny fraction of its time lighting up the intended target, and the majority of its time lighting up other places or nothing at all. I can't imagine the other countries in its path are going to be too happy about that, especially if it turns out to have significant impacts on wildlife. I certainly wouldn't be too happy about a massive spotlight passing over my house every hour and half every night.

There are obviously ways round this such as using propulsion to angle the mirror(s) away when not in right place, or closing and opening the mirrors as needed, but the article doesn't mention any of that. More information is needed.

Well...

Start by assuming you have three mirrors in the same orbit at 120 degrees separation, and each is slowly rotating. Below each the Earth is rotating, at about 800 miles per hour. You are only interested in the interactions on the night side, the side opposite the sun.

A satellite's mirror is effective only when from that point one can see both the city and the Sun. From the point of view of someone in the city, another pops up over the horizon every thirty minutes, and the prior one is 60 degrees above the opposite horizon. Then the prior one is dark. The new one can provide angled light until it rises to the point where the sun goes behind the curve of the earth. Meanwhile the Earth is turning so each new one that pops above the horizon lights the city for fewer and fewer minutes.

Offhand seems to me you'd get a couple hours of dim light like until midnight and a couple more hours in the morning like that, but the dead of night would still be dark. It's simple trig to figure it out.

Well, have you considered about "FPGA's"? They can be "programmed" to be better at almost any algo. Same is happening with AIs. Have you seen Baxter? How it can be taught to perform any task? General purpose AI's are right about the corner and you should be worried if you don't own the means of production. Tongue

Those can't begin to match my beer-drinking algorithms.

Your bait and switch claims won't work here.

No shilling. It's 100% proveable, that gasoline is smarter/better/cheaper than hydrogen.

Or electric.

xxx.

Rofl, your ignorance is astounding. Wink

Go away oil shill Wink

Yes, oil is nice. IIRC it has the highest number of hydrogens in a very dense form. I guess only people that know fracking would understand things like that. It's also very safe, due to it's liquid nature and relatively low vapor pressure.

So yes, gasoline in particular is a really optimal fuel. It's particularly useful in .... gasoline engines ....

Who would have thunk? People that REALLY appreciate hydrogen get it from gasoline. Because the energy is in those hydrogen atoms flying off the molecule they are bonded to.
4359  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Society's misguided fear of hydrogen; a result of oil corporation? on: October 20, 2018, 06:35:58 PM
Why do people fear hydrogen so much? It's literally safer than gasoline....

No...obviously you've never used hydrogen. Do some welding with it and come back and please let us know...

Obviously you were born without a brain, come back when you get one.

Suit yourself, let me know how your experiment with an 8000 psi pressure bottle goes.

Also hydrogen embrittlement.

But do tell how 4 lb/cubic foot for a fuel is exciting.

Isn't it produced from natural gas? I would DEFINITELY not want to just burn natural gas. No WAY!
