I think I saw another old member but not sure what's his age, filippone.

And make sure you introduce Bitcoin to your grandchildren Grin
4362  Other / Off-topic / Re: WATCH OUT - TikTok app is a SPYWARE!!! on: July 13, 2020, 12:05:19 PM

you mean Google has left the chat Smiley

Oh, Google is way larger than Microsoft. And it's integrated in our phones Grin

Except Apple of course. But still, chances are that those iPhone owners have registered for Google at some point.
4363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocoinopoly - Do you consider it a good idea? on: July 13, 2020, 12:01:17 PM
Looks really nice and fun... Shouldn't be toooo hard to create an online version either.
A quick google turned up a couple php/mysql monopoly scripts like this one: sourceforge.net/projects/gamedaemon/ (completely untested, not my script).

A lot of good idears for the "chance" and "community chest" cards pop to mind:
  • You invested in a PONZI and lost 0.01 BTC

Remembered this guy?

TikTok exploits the millennial mindset, in this regard it did a good job. But does it end with TikTok? No it doesn't.

All these social media apps are a type of trojan, some data mine you, some outright spy you and some do more...

If the app you use isn't Free and Open Source software, you are getting spied one way or another.

So it is bad if the Chinese gov spies but A OK if the US gov spies? No. Guess what the American apps do? Yes they do it. As long as your program is not Free and Open Source software, it may spy you and you have no way of telling.

Even operating systems like Windows are doing it it, but people don't care. Microsoft even pulls thumbnails of all your pictures, yet people keep using it. The millennials want to "share it all", they want to have fun... Big brother is happy and there is money to be made, thinks Zuckerberg, et al.

Do you have something to hide, citizen?

Google has entered the chat.
4365  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you an E-Toro customers? You need to read this on: July 13, 2020, 11:50:32 AM
e-toro as per my understanding is a forex trading platform, when did they integrate crypto trading on to their platform?

I am not sure why anyone will use them to trade cryptocurrency? There are tons of cryptocurrency exchange providing the same service and are much better than them.

It is better to avoid such platforms.

IINM, it was since 2014.
In 2014, eToro introduced bitcoin trading through contracts for difference (CFD) for some of its users, and classified it as a stock to help users familiarize themselves with the asset

Mainly because eToro doesn't allow you to buy or sell; you only bet on the price movements. In other words, you don't own any crypto or Bitcoin on their platform.

There are two things eToro offer that most don't; social media and copy traders.

When using Google to sign-in to a third-party site, the site does not gain access to your password, but rather Google validates your credentials, and sends a token to the site to manage. Google may also send:
Quote
<…> These third-party sites or apps can request the name, email address, and profile picture associated with your account. <…>
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/112802?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en

With the above, eToro (or any other third-party site allowing you to log-in using your Google credentials) may have stored your email, but not your password. I’d use 2FA with my Google account if it were the case.

Thanks, my Google account has 2FA enabled. But unfortunately many sites still haven't integrated Google Sign In so if they get compromised, we're pretty much screwed.

Update: I suggested to her to create a new account  so she can go here in this thread and ask what to do next...but it seems it was marked as Bad IP. 😂

That's really unlucky for a newbie IMO.

Tough luck... but isn't a person that is banned no longer welcomed, since she could try to appeal but a plagiarism ban (intentional or not) doesn't stand a chance to be overturned here. And I doubt a mod, let alone theymos is willing to shed light on this matter. I understand how she feels because I've seen cases whereby senior members got permbanned for an ancient plagiarized post.

And not too long ago I was served a 3 days ban for refspam without an explanation , leaving me to find out by myself.
4368  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you an E-Toro customers? You need to read this on: July 13, 2020, 06:03:56 AM
Oh great, saw this earlier on my Twitter feed.

Are Google users affected? By which I mean those using Google to sign in.
4369  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [Unofficial] Coinpot.co - new microwallet on: July 13, 2020, 05:59:52 AM

I started this topic on the same day when Coinpot was launched in 2017 (probably I should update topic title because it's not so new anymore). Coinpot actually have official topic, it was started day later than this one:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2007856.0
But as you see, it's locked. And their account was last active back in February. So, I'm not sure, does owner follow this topic or no.
And it's interesting about Reddit. It's strange that it was created few years before launch of Coinpot.

#debunked.

So the owner is aware of this forum, just that he didn't want to keep his thread open. Which is understandable since it'd be bombarded with more criticisms than questions Grin

That's not the case. The email sent to OP is a phishing attempt.
I'm confused. So how can he be phished with those forum's seclock link since it will only lock the account only if the parameters used in the url are correct.

In the case email address is changed, it will be reported in the user's trust page and seclog.
Not on trust page since it happened way back and trying to load loyce seclog to check.

We need answers from the OP. Assuming that he's locked his account after clicking on that (and no login was required).

I feel that the contents are legit, but its always best to check the sender's email.

4372  Other / Meta / Re: Satoshi banned! on: July 12, 2020, 03:53:13 PM

I wished satoshi could come back in our lives and we know who exactly is satoshi  Smiley
Only Craig Wright  will be happy to see this and will try to make drama out of it. Rest we all know the account is banned for security reasons as stated by many.

That guy sure did, but it fizzled out Grin
4373  Other / Meta / Re: Hide reported posts? on: July 12, 2020, 12:43:13 PM
Not allowing users to post link is a great suggestion!

Not possible though. A newbie could always skirt the rules like posting as such:
link.com
link[.]com
"link.com" (remove quotes)

...and the list goes on.

EDIT: Forgot that post was a sarcasm Grin

Who would have notice that a domain with the name almost similar to 'free bitcoin' would be providing gambling/betting on their site? Normally people would just go to some other gambling sites  Wink

My point stands, anyone that type 'free bitcoin' onto their search engine would end up looking for a free bitcoin site and see this page rank #1 on their search engine. There wouldnt be any person that search 'free bitcoin' would be actually looking for a gambling site instead but once they get into the site then they would realize this site also provide gambling/betting

also this  Wink, most came from similar site that provide " free bitcoin "

#2, close enough Grin

lol reverse luck, it takes alot to be this unlucky I guess.   Maybe luck has hit bottom and it'll turn and wrap round for you.

Hopefully, I've been playing for several years now and I managed to hit 8888 twice on Multiply... without checking on any jackpots tickboxes  Cry

Do you have another sites similar to this for other cryptocurrencies?
If yes can I know them
Thanks

None for now.

Previously they had freedogecoin, but it was closed down due to the abuse.
4378  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Visiting official websites and download official apps, not fake ones. on: July 11, 2020, 03:25:14 PM

coinmarketcap.com is a legit site but it is not wisely to rely on a single site to find what you need. Start with coinmarketcap.com and double or trible check with results you get from other search engines.

A legit site can be compromised, we simply don't know when and how it will be compromised. We can only take care of ourselves and our capital.

Fear not my young padawan. After Binance acquired CMC, we have this guy to assure everything is a-ok.

Jokes aside, it's always better to have more reference
4379  Other / Meta / Re: Satoshi banned! on: July 11, 2020, 03:20:07 PM
I see quite a lot of strange comments here. Satoshi is clearly not unwelcome here, but most probably he will not come back. So having an account available for hackers would be clearly be a mistake.
So locking the account is the best move.

Of course, we're only kidding about the unwelcomed part. Should satoshi make a re-entrance, provided we're still alive by then, we'll welcome him back with open arms and wallets probably.
4380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we invest in a bitcoin exchange? on: July 11, 2020, 01:11:14 PM
If you read some rules regarding some exchanges, they are displaying that do not place too much tokens or coins that is held there for a long time. This means that exchanges are made for exchanging. You only use them for a small amount of time and not that long because those wallets are not specifically made for holding them for too long. Exchanges can encounter problems and you can avoid them by only using them when you need to.

More exchanges are becoming smart by offering interests to customers in order to secure their funds.
