4381  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: rumors of 3.5Th antminer S7 "lite" on: November 17, 2015, 06:59:01 AM
The new s7 is marked as sold out on bitmain so I wonder what the next batch has in store for us.  Are they going to produce another batch of the same, something different or drop a new chip and new unit.  I'd guess they just produce another batch but the drop in btc price has hurt their value since they are using a hard btc price instead of dollar.  Soo I wonder will they release something to the public?  The units they haven't even shipped yet so it will be some time till then

They have did batches pretty far out really for them.  It's almost to point its kinda a pre-order I think you get a month or so ahead.  I mean the current batch could ship "between Dec. 7 ~ Dec. 17 (if shipped out 5 days later than it, it won't be considered as delay )." So Dec 23 ship out around a month and 6 day's and they are not late.

So It would not surprise me if we see another one of the newer S7's again just wait till it's closer to that batch being shipped or possibly  shipped.   I do not expect them to change it again or make a two blade, I think they are going to remain firm on current design at this point.
4382  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Nov 11 to Nov 24 Set up stage-picks are now open! on: November 17, 2015, 06:52:22 AM
Some what glad I didn't pull the trigger on those S7 purchases.
*saved space on image

Looks like it just keeps going up:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    65,848,255,180
Estimated Next Difficulty:    72,639,342,246 (+10.31%)
Adjust time:    After 1121 Blocks, About 7.0 days
Hashrate(?):    520,959,894 GH/s

I'm thinking burn in tests on Avalon and Bitmain for sure.   If any others are testing I'm still not sure.   I don't think it's the SP50 yet.  When we do get to that point that is a lot of hash in one unit.

Could get crazy with just a few main makers.
4383  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: November 17, 2015, 06:50:10 AM
ok, Ill simplify because there is some confusion.  And part of it was my mistake.... For that I am totally sorry.  Reading labels through jumbles of wires can be annoying.

I am running the U3 on the same circuit as my pc that draws a steady 650W; and a 110W PC power supply powering a Gridseed Blade; and the U3; all on one 15A 110V circuit.   I have my Antminer S3 on a separate circuit.

The specifics on my power supply that I am running the U3 on:

110V 2.5A
12V 7.5A

So... technically.  It does now make sense why it is working fine.   And also explains my 5A power supply causing very strange outputs/readings.

I am 100% certain the issue is with the power circuitry on the U3.   More filtering and ripple control is my first guess... because its the most logical.

The fact that I used regular dialectic grease on the heatsync shouldn't be much of a factor IMHO.

Mine zombied out over the night.

So whats the deal with the R1?  are you guys using it as a miner controller?  Is it that you reprogram the firmware to recognize and mine off a U3 along with the router's built in ASIC?

R1 as shipped controls a U3, no PC needed.  Then with Crazyguy's firmware as detailed above it restarts the U3 if it Zombies out.  Smiley

Rich

It is pretty amazing firmware I know I might mention it a lot in this thread.  It is because of how easy it made my life compared to when I was unplugging 3 U3's multiple times a day.

I was gone for 6 day's or so and it was still working.  The R1 seemed a tad slow after the time running all that time but a reboot fixed that.  Did not touch the U3 wires Smiley
4384  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 6? Any owners out there? on: November 17, 2015, 06:46:19 AM

Isnt the black one the porotype picture?  I was thinking silver was production model.  I am impressed looking at block C the warranty does transfer it sounds like.

Warranty Registration and Transferability:

If still within the Warranty Period, Avalon Manufacturer’s Warranty will transfer to the buyer, upon equipment resale provided that the buyer contacts Avalon or BlockC.co to register as the new equipment owner.

In order to receive Manufacturer’s Warranty coverage, you must notify Reseller with your contact information, the equipment you are operating, and a description of your operating environment.

Bitmain warranty buying from ebay or other places you do not get a transferred warranty.
4385  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [SALES OPEN] [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for Europe on: November 17, 2015, 06:41:01 AM
I want to thank  MacEntyre he was amazing on helping get me a Europe to complete my set of compacs without paying a small fortune on shipping to us.

I got it plugged into my RPI and its working great!   I plan on taking some pictures when I get some time.  But very neat design if your into collecting I suggest getting one for the fun of it.

Thanks sidehack.  Got my batch 2 compacs and got them up and running very easy adding to the usb sticks I already had.
4387  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITMAIN Order Cancelation on: November 17, 2015, 06:33:48 AM
I can pay but most likely i will stay on the street if i do.

You really do need to talk to your "client".  I don't know the deal you had with them but find a fair thing to do such as paying for mining for all the day's between you said they would have the miners and when they actually do.  That is what bitmain does.... so not great but hopefully your customer agrees to it.   I don't know your selling terms your "client" might be able to pull out if you messed up on the dates.  That was not the "clients" fault... so I tend to be on the side of treat them nice and hopefully they want them.   If you are selling 25 miners you should have a selling contract.

But I do not expect bitmain to give refund for any reason.  To do it for one people would use you as example tell the end of time asking for refund.  So they will not do it.

4388  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITMAIN Order Cancelation on: November 17, 2015, 05:59:00 AM
I did want it but now i cant afford to pay the vat so what will happen ? If i refuse them they will go back and then what. Be on loss with what i paid on them ?

If you are in a country you owe vat... I would guess yes they are going to make you pay for that before receiving them.  I'm not saying your situation does not suck it does.

You might need to deal with your "client" and see if you can make a deal.   Or find a way to get the VAT money on short term loan from someone and sell enough miners that you can pay back people you borrowed for vat. (Be very careful though make sure you can pay them back I'm in no way saying get a loan if you are not sure you can pay back)
4389  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITMAIN Order Cancelation on: November 17, 2015, 05:51:48 AM
Yes but i dont know anyone in another country and cant trust a stranger on internet that he will give me the money. Why cant they nust refund me since they didnt even send yet. There would be no harm done and no headaches for anyone.

It would be nice but there is not a chance of them canceling it they do at least list it at bottom:

All sales are final. No refunds will be given. Defective machines can be repaired for free under the Bitmain warranty policy. After the warranty period, machines can be repaired for the cost of parts and labor.

The big reason on no refunds I think is BTC price if you could refund a lot that bought at 230 would want to refund before it shipped.   Also they want your money once they get it.  So never buy more then you can aford to lose in miners, have to be cautious when buying hardware you read it and really want it.
4390  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: November 17, 2015, 05:42:10 AM
Something interesting to ordering if they give everyone the same quote it looks like 50 is the magic number: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1171705.msg12931603#msg12931603

Unit Cost:
For a group buy of moderate size they can do $1350/unit, raspberry pis included. We may get a small additional discount if we get a buttload of them (50+).

Shipping Cost:
If we get less than 50 units it will cost $50/unit (via UPS, ew),
If we get over 50 units they can ship via air freight. That's ~$20 a unit, and can get lower if we buy more. If we got 100 units (I know, it's a big ask), I've been told it goes down to $10 per unit.

Yeah but I don't control the unit I am locked into a Canada location.  I may get one from them.

But to be honest I want some from kilo17 even if I pay a bit more.  There is nothing like the sound of miners in the morning.

@ kilo17  are the units on schedule for this Fri ?

I'm not wanting one controlled there either particularly.  I just brought it up as I would hope they cut the price some on a medium order like this.  If they are charging 1500 + shipping on 25 units or so might want to try to renegotiate.

I may get one for review purposes very soon.

Then we will know the under volt down clock advantages that it should (no proof yet)   have over the s-7

I exchanged pms with kilo17 and he has his coming in  by weds.

That would be great if you do I would love to see how they do compared to S7 would be a good review.

The limit was only supposed to apply after your next payment, I'll make sure everyone is paid the correct amount.

Thanks Macro.   I had a last minute family thing come up.  I will be away from internet for a few day's most likely.   If anyone needs anything from me just send a PM and I will get to it once I'm back.

Posting it here as there is not really a good away from board post.  Thanks.
4395  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Proposal] Mining Co-Op on: November 10, 2015, 09:22:32 PM
Phillip has a point with the multisig--the less people needed to sign off on a transaction, the better odds that a few people go rogue and take the funds. We need to be careful in choosing who holds keys.

You know what though--you're right. Doing this "informally" works totally fine, right up until something goes wrong. I wouldn't want this to spiral out of control.
If we were to form an actual cooperative, AFAIK members would have equal rights in voting regardless of investment. That probably won't work, because people with the largest shares will be underrepresented.

Now, my knowledge of corporations/cooperatives in Canada is limited, but I'm certain we'll be on the hook for taxes on income/incorporation fees. I've read that if we have less than 50 shareholders, we can avoid a lot of legal trouble with Canada's Securities Act (but I am not a lawyer!). We'll definitely need a lawyer to take a look at the articles of incorporation. This stuff is expensive and takes time. I need to sleep on this, and think of a plan going forward.

At a glance though, this seems like a web of legalese.

I am a Canadian and my business is incorporated.  Getting articles of incorporation is in the $1,500-$2,000 CAD range and is very straight forward as far as I know, it can even be done individually online (whether or not that's prudent is another thing).  I do not know anything about < or > 50 shareholders, and the applicable laws however if the Corporation is controlled by non-resident shareholders, it is not considered a CCPC and there are different tax implications: http://www.taxspecialistgroup.ca/public/taxtips.asp?n=11-02&site=tsg

What I do not know is if "Transaction Verification Services" are considered an active form of income or investment income, the corporate tax rates here for each are considerably different.

The benefit to registering as a Canadian Corporation would be the corp would save the 5% GST charged for importing the miners here, and if I'm not mistaken the Corporation could claim back 5% of the hosting fee in GST; since no GST is charged in mining, it would be a full tax refund.

The issues are, as a non-CCPC there are no capital gains exemption (CCPC's are entitled to an $800,000 exemption on capital gains when selling their shares in the Corp.) And any income paid out by the corporation would be taxed AFTER corporate tax is paid (Canadians would get taxed as dividend income I believe, I'm not sure how Americans would be taxed).

For these reasons, a Group Buy where everyone is still an individual (with individual hardare using purchasing power together) would make more sense to me.

If you form a corporation would that not mean you would not be paying taxes on the mining operation?   If it's like a us Corporation it makes it a LOT less liability to be a officer/owner but there is double taxing.   Taxes for corporation and taxes for payments to it's people as well.

I can see why the top of the group would really want corporation to limit personal assets being touched.  But I think your opening yourself to a whole lot of costs.
4396  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread oct 29th to Nov 12th picks are closed!! With a bonus reward. on: November 10, 2015, 09:12:52 PM
I really understand the concerns about selling the S7 on ebay. The buyer's protection is easily abusable, even if the item is marked as no returns, if a buyer with ill intents buy the miner, they can buy it, mine with it for a while and then file a item not as described and return the miner to get a refund.

Even though they may simply be a very small vocal minority, its probably a good thing to keep in mind. Not sure if there is a way around that but some users reported this.

Basically without having some sort of "as is" agreement, the seller would take all the risks since the buyer can decide to abuse the system to return the miner if the miner drop in value.

Actually selling with a reasonable return policy (14 days is minimum, soon to be increased to 30 days) is better than "no returns". Yes, you have the 14 or 30 day risk, but outside of that you have a chance that eBay seller protection will work. With a "no return" policy you are almost guaranteed to lose the dispute if buyer claims "not as described" and I think that goes up to 45 days.

I've had mixed success with eBay, got a few of miners returned but overall I think it's not that bad. Never sold anything above $1000 though.

I think the key is it being older gear the latest and greatest I think a lot of the scammers will want as it's the greatest return for them.  I had really good luck with my A1's and S4's when updating gear and getting rid older generations.

Granted I took more risk with ebay vs forum sale.  But it ended up successful for me.   The one Dragon 1.5 weighed almost 50 pounds.... that was safest one I ever felt knowing they were not going to ship that beast back.
4397  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to trading bitcoin? on: November 10, 2015, 08:14:50 PM
its very hard to make any profits with trading cryptocurrencies as even bitcoin price can fluctuate really hard so that does not let you know what price will be after a few minutes

this is why it's better to use bitcoin for forex/stocks trading(i prefer forex), the fluctuation are much tiny, and the trend shift less often

if you are medium-good, there is big profit to be made out there

if you have automatic trading systems, trading on btc it much more profittable.
forex volatility it is lowest than bitcoin market.
but if you are not skilled on trading... highest volatility=highest probability to get deep loss...

sry but it seems that you are contradicting yourself

first you say forex has low volatility then "but if...highest volatility=highest probability to get deep loss...", which mean that forex is better as i said....

bitcoin is only good for manipulators as it is right now, because they dictate the market

Yea if I'm going to invest in a stock I want one on the stock market.  I want investor reports, and public earnings.

Ever since Asic Miner seeing people buying stock like of it's hashing I wish I could remember site.  It looked highly profitable... and people held stock like holdings... and poof it was gone. *Edit found it - https://www.havelockinvestments.com/fund.php?symbol=AM100 (Do not invest obviously).  But that lost a LOT of people money.
4398  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread oct 29th to Nov 12th picks are closed!! With a bonus reward. on: November 10, 2015, 07:52:54 PM
Going up a little bit:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    62,253,982,450
Estimated Next Difficulty:    64,938,500,384 (+4.31%)
Adjust time:    After 122 Blocks, About 19.8 hours
Hashrate(?):    450,174,795 GH/s

Today is the 10th so I keep expecting to see a lot of Avalon hash added, but so far not near what I was expecting. I mean Mr. Lee was getting like 3 PH he announced, but I have not heard about sales yet in thread so I'm wondering if they are a little behind on shipping or making.j

Price is still better then the 230 but taking a little bit of a dive to 359.75 on coinbase so around 20 dollars down.

I keep expecting that too, but I'm wondering if like a lot of us, even the big players are maxed or close to maxed on power consumption and have to take some amount of equipment offline to put newer stuff on, so instead of seeing massive spikes, we're seeing a slow crawl with higher efficiency backing it.

It's an interesting ride right now!  I saw an S7 sell on eBay for >$2900 USD!  Crazy pricing ATM.  Shocked
I would love to get 2900 for one of my s-7's but ebay has so many returns.

Ive actually had really good luck with it.  Very good luck with miners on it compared to forums I normally get more off it.  But I do only sale my old miners on there a new miner I agree is a lot of liability compared to one been used for 6 months.

People tend to pay more when paypal is involved even though it can be a pain.
4399  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: November 10, 2015, 05:23:45 PM
Today no work just because of nothing in wallet now thinking to leave some faucets as they are fail to pay just scams and wast of time trying to search for legit sites which pay some good amount any suggestion could be welcomed

Signature campaigns is best.  There is no site that you can visit/play game that will be sizeable you will earn cents per hour.  You get paid less then the ad's pay the faucet owner for your view... so very very little.

BTC is money there really is not quick way for money.  All forms of money take some sort of time or work.   I got signature and normal mining yesterday which is always a fun day.  But mining is my main thing.
4400  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do You Earn Free Bitcoins? on: November 10, 2015, 05:21:13 PM
Faucet is good option for newbie on bitcoin but it isn't worth for your time at the end

To get .1BTC in a week for free can become an impossible task!

Some sig campaig enable you to earn those amount for a week as long as you're active posting and contribute through forum

Just join the signature campaign.
You'll earn a free bitcoin then.

Try offering your skill like designing or coding.... Surely this job will make you earn more rather than sig campaign.

Faucet is a horrible option for anyone.   You don't learn about BTC by solving capatcha's and pasting a bitcoin address.  You could do it for hours and make a few cents that most likely will become dust in a wallet.

Sig campaign at full member is when it becomes biggest jump up in price.  So until then you can use time to learn and not really worry about them.  I waited to late I went till hero before did a sig campaign.  But live and learn.

But anyone thinking about faucets I highly suggest you use that time to learn a skill, or learn anything usefull.  A skill like programming or many other things will pay huge later on compared to faucet pay.
