4381  Economy / Speculation / Re: Silkroad closed down. Owner Arrested. on: October 02, 2013, 09:32:20 PM
I had sold most of my btc yesterday when the trend was failing but still held some and lost money thanks to some trolls on here posting "the news is fake" , "look at the shadows and the camel", "DPR is making a joke about the government shut down", etc. Fuck you!
4382  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who bought at 90 at bitstamp? on: October 02, 2013, 08:28:52 PM
I had 100 orders that failed to fill even when price was 95... which I then cancelled. Then I tried to buy at 86 seconds too late.

Who bought at btce at 75? Lol
4383  Economy / Speculation / My $145 resistance / silk road tinfoil hat conspiracy theory. on: October 02, 2013, 08:20:24 PM
I always thought that this 145 resistance looked fishy. Ive never seen bit coin oppose such a large and persistent buying force and plateau for so long. There were just stacks and stacks of coins after coins after coins. The low volume also smelled fishy and seemed like a dead giveaway of massive market manipulation

We can now theorize that the 145 resistance was actually DPR's cohorts, LE insiders , and other people who were somehow in the know of the upcoming news selling their stashes. We can also theorize that the massive influx of good news lately was placed to facilitate the sale of the coins.  That's why they say "sell on news"...

Thoughts?

Why would anyone trade on gox for the sake of daytrading? Places like Bitfinex offer Bitstamp liquidity, leverage, interest, and also lower transaction fees.

Gox offers more volume (usually) and larger price swings. Lately $10 movements at gox have been $5 movements at bitstamp, and there are more waves to catch in a gox movement vs a movement in another exchange which is more smoothed.

Liquidity: Does not matter if you intend to leave gox via btc and the loss leaving will cancel out with the gain from entering (via btc).
Leverage: Somewhat of a bad idea in crypto and not for everyone.
Interest: The amounts of interest are negligible in a daytrader's eyes. They didn't join for such petty matters and have more to gain from larger price swings.
Transaction fees: You can actually get your mtgox fee down to 0.25% with enough volume.

Could you draw a chart yourself to illustrate your point?
4386  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 01, 2013, 11:50:22 PM
The only thing that's really happened today is arbitrage. Apparently our arbiteur took a break over the weekend which allowed bitstamp to fall under the sell pressure and gox to rise uncontrollably.
4387  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 01, 2013, 11:38:20 PM
Last chance to sell above $140 this year boys and girl.

Thankfully the next bottom is $128 on Jan 1.

Why do you call the bottom at just $128? At that point, the entire trend line is broken and its probably going much lower. Say $100 or $86 even with the right volume, which would fit perfectly on the chart.

I can think of a few catalysts too... such as mtgox resumes normal withdraw, mtgox closes, government crackdown, or scalability/protocol issues.

But the 5 points are all from our recent penant/triangle in the past two months, except the one point where it began in April. Its not like there's a point in April, a point in May, a point in July, and then a point in august. All these 4 points youre using to draw a line could actually be part of a different line not connected to the point in april. They are so recent.
4389  Economy / Economics / Re: Currency, a medium of exchange, should it not inflate like wealth it represents? on: October 01, 2013, 02:59:59 PM
exchange chickens for wood and wood for flour and flour for a cart and a cart for a plate and a plate for  sword.
I recall doing something exactly like this as a side quest in one of the early Legend of Zelda games.
4390  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 01, 2013, 07:38:09 AM
About 5K coins were just added to the ask around $165.
4391  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: RTBTC - Bitcoin Exchange Trading Interface on: October 01, 2013, 07:31:13 AM
I don't trade on Gox anymore but it seems Bitstamp has added the necessary API.  Will this work or are there plans to make this Bitstamp compatible soon?

Bitstamp compatibility is in the works!
I noticed that trading.i286.org has been banned from the bitstamp API. What are you going to do to prevent this?
4392  Economy / Economics / Re: LocalBitcoins.com hits $250? on: October 01, 2013, 04:01:31 AM
How about we get someone to make a trade for one satoshi at $100,000 and paint the tape?  Then we can say it's an omen.
4393  Economy / Speculation / Re: [SHARE] Your Personal Analysis (only post with pictures) on: October 01, 2013, 03:53:29 AM
It looks as if we are about to break out this BIG triangle (thx to Frozenlock for pointing it out to me). Its either going up if we go above 150$ or back to 100$ if we break below 136$. As you can see the current little triangle is just part of the bigger one that formed after the bubble burst. The actual count of waves is controversial, as this could either be interpreted as an ascending waves series (1-5) or retracting waves (A-C or A-E). Anyway, Elliot waves aside, the chart lines provide the best indication which way we are heading IMO. If its down, 100 will provide a good resistance that will be hard to crack for technical and psychological reasons. Double digits may shortly be visited but are unlikely to drag through the winter.
It seems you are just arbitrarily drawing that purple line.  What made you connect 170 to our 149 vs some other level? How do you know that the resistance in our current rally isn't actually another sub-line, like the thin green line, and then the purple line would be an additional stronger resistance above that?
4394  Economy / Service Discussion / manual fee 5% gox wires? on: September 30, 2013, 11:19:54 PM
I've heard a lot of talk/rumor about these manually processed gox wires, and I think I might like to do one. I have some questions:

1. Do they do international wires of USD?

2. Is there a minimum amount?

3. What other qualifications must you have to do it?

4. Is the 5% fee the total fee or does it go on top of the normal 1.5% fee?

5. How long does it take?

6. How many people can vouch that this is working and that theyve done it recently?

7. How do you start the process?

8. Is it less risky to simply transfer to bit stamp, eat the 10% loss, and withdraw there?

Thanks!
4395  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: mcxNOW - Scam or not? on: September 30, 2013, 10:55:18 PM
I have seen more then 3 admin online quite a few times. Almost every time I visited.
Those are just trollbox admins. They have nothing to do with supporting the site outside of banning people from the chatroom.
4396  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: mcxNOW - Scam or not? on: September 30, 2013, 10:49:03 PM
Theres no evidence of wrongdoing yet and no way to tell if its a scam or not. But there is one particular weakness in this exchange - in that it is supported by a total of only one admin (real solid). That means:

1. You might have trouble receiving timely support.

2. If something happens to this person, there is no more support, and everything could become lost.

3. This one person might have an overly high impression of the system security.

4. This one person can game on and trade on their own exchange. There are no checks and balances.

5. You could get on this person's bad side.

6. This person is only human and as such could be tempted to steal millions of dollars worth of coin at any time once it gets large enough.

I have no evidence that real solid is a bad person, but it still seems risky nonetheless.

I personally have never had more than 7btc there at a time (usually 3) and I remove them as soon as I'm done trading.

The large profit margins made by the ridiculous spreads and the novice traders make it worth the risk though.

I bought some btc on Gox today and sent them here to trade with because I felt the risks were equal but here I could be making profits. When I make enough profit here to make up for the gox-bitstamp gap, I can send the coins  to bit stamp.

4398  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp WAS the best Bitcoin exchange, now it's not. on: September 30, 2013, 07:01:10 PM
Please name another exchange that has better liquidity and support than bit stamp. These days you cannot even withdraw from practically any other exchange.
4399  Economy / Speculation / Re: October feelings on: September 30, 2013, 01:29:51 PM
I think this poll could probably be used to reflect the sentiment of the forum at large, and not just about "October".
4400  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: September 29, 2013, 10:23:49 PM
This gox run, after reaching a $19-$22 gap with other exchanges, have caused prices to finally break out over key chart levels on other exchanges and eat through the endless resistance walls.  However, this break out is short lived, on low volume, and lacking bid support. Now prices are going down again, as if nothing happened... Will this rally succeed?

And are we supposed to believe that someone is still wiring millions of usd into gox?
