441  Economy / Economics / Re: Most people dont even know what this is yet. on: October 02, 2017, 01:24:41 PM
Bitcoin is still a very small niche market despite how much it has grown in the last years. It is both quite frightening and very encouraging to think of it in that way because it shows how much more potential there is for bitcoin to grow in the future.
442  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is money, everything else is credit. on: September 29, 2017, 01:08:00 PM
For me it is still hard to see bitcoin as money until it will be readily accepted throughout the world. It is still necessary to convert to FIAT in order to purchase most things and thus without such FIAT bitcoin would be essentially worthless. Realistically I foresee this being the case for quite some time.
443  Economy / Economics / Re: Why You Should Never Sell Your Bitcoins Ever on: September 29, 2017, 12:54:33 PM
One flaw with the initial argument is that when you use btc to buy some other good or service you are effectively selling your bitcoins anyway in exchange for that good or service. The same way when you spend using dollars, you are selling $1 for $1 worth of a good or service. So to never 'sell' would be simply to hold forever and then you just have a chunk of value sat there doing nothing.
444  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Bitcoin Volatility Be Controlled? on: September 27, 2017, 11:28:20 AM
Bitcoin is decentralised and can't be controlled but I think over time the volatility will naturally decrease as the market forces of demand and supply begin to stabilise and bitcoin becomes more established.
445  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC is about to crush major resistance points (very bullish) on: September 26, 2017, 01:05:16 PM
I think much of the resistance one way or the other will be broken at month end when there is further clarity in the Chinese market space. It would be great to see the 4100 point broken and an upward trend towards a new ATH.
446  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Loan Services on: September 26, 2017, 11:11:04 AM
There is a lending section in the forums but i would advise against borrowing where possible, crypto is risky and thus borrowing is risky.
447  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to earn monthly income with Bitcoin/Altcoin trading?? on: September 26, 2017, 11:06:16 AM
It is possible, you first need to improve your knowledge and learn some trading techniques. The first thing to learn is risk management, cryptos are very volatile and if you go all in with your 0.1 btc it is possible you could lose a large portion of it.
448  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think billionaires invest in BTC? on: September 26, 2017, 10:44:55 AM
I would imagine that almost all have a portion, probably largely out of interest rather than aiming to make any money because at this stage they don't really need any more money.
449  Economy / Economics / Re: China banning bitcoin exchages, good or bad? on: September 26, 2017, 10:42:30 AM
There is still further news to come on this one in the coming days but initially it was a big shock to the market, for clarity though, exchanges have not been banned, unlicensed exchanges have been banned.
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Kyber Network on: September 25, 2017, 01:34:50 PM
Kyber just under 5x at the moment and I expect it to reach 10x probably inside a week. It will be listed on Binance tomorrow and I expect further exchanges to follow. Would not be surprised to see it at or around $10 a coin by new years.
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [REDD] Reddcoin worth buying? on: September 25, 2017, 01:00:31 PM
At current price I wouldn't say that redd is worth buying. The price will likely drop back to 25 or so and at this point I think it would be a good investment to hold for the next small pump. It is also very useful for day trading.
452  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is a whale? on: September 25, 2017, 12:51:50 PM
In terms of a BTC holding, I would say a whale is probably at a value of at least 250 btc which is about 1m usd. But a whale is very dependent on which market you are trading in, you could be a whale in some markets with less than 1 btc.
453  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to earn at arbitrage on: September 25, 2017, 12:42:57 PM
The largest difficult with arbitrage is that the markets can change in the time it takes you to transfer from one exchange to another. Therefore the best way is to ensure that you are already holding the currency you want to profit from arbitrage with. For example, hold both btc and ether on two accounts so you can instantly buy on one and instantly sell on the other.
454  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC analysis for this month! on: September 25, 2017, 12:30:26 PM
From the graph you can see the resistance holding back the price but I feel that a lot of this may clear if there is good news to come out of china, in fact, even once things are fully clarified and there is potential bad news. I still see it as a good thing longer term.
455  Economy / Speculation / Re: I See bitcoin at $10,000 before end of this year. on: September 25, 2017, 12:23:48 PM
I would be surprised to see 10k hit before the end of the year. I would think the earliest we might see 5 figures is around about easter next year but more realistically maybe this time next year
456  Economy / Economics / Re: £500 to spend, on Ether or Bitcoin? on: September 25, 2017, 12:17:01 PM
I would go with ethereum over bitcoin but I would advise instead to split the 500 and invest maybe 300 in to ether and 200 in to bitcoin. I see Ether pushing up towards 1k within the next year and in the longer term it wouldn't surprise me to see it overtake bitcoin at some point.
457  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto-gaming is the next big thing! on: September 25, 2017, 11:00:38 AM
This is a very interesting concept but I feel quite difficult to implement. It would have to have the support of many of the different games producers to work as I don't see it working simply P2P.
458  Economy / Economics / Re: The Seven Stages of An Empire and How Precious Metals Are Key on: September 25, 2017, 10:40:46 AM
I have to say that after watching the video, I don't buy the whole theory of going back to gold-backed currency. All economic models have flaws and the gold standard has them too (and big ones). We mustn't also forget that all those financial institutions are full of smart people who also understand the inherent flaws and fragility of the current system.
I believe the way to go in developing a new a more robust financial and economic system is forward, not backward. Trust-based units of value not backed by real assets are here to stay, as they bring liquidity and growth to the economy, but they are only as strong as the wisdom and actions of the decision-makers. Nothing lasts forever and history does repeat itself, but at the same time is never the same.
Crypto-currencies will have a role on the new economic model that will replace the current one, that is for sure. There will be a place for other asset classes as always.  Wink

True, even gold can lose it's value once we get to the point where we can mine every bit of it on Earth and even mine it from outer space.

The basic problem of any currency even if it is backed by gold or something else is that it still only has a worth that is defined by public opinion. If confidence in a currency falls it will be worth nothing. It is even possible that gold becomes worthless simply because people decide they do not want or need it.
459  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Physical bitcoin debitcard? on: September 25, 2017, 10:38:28 AM
Yes there are many, I don't know much about them because it's not something I personally would use but a quick google search throws out plenty to look in to.
460  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading altcoin and holding bitcoin which one is more profitable? on: September 22, 2017, 03:15:31 PM
If you can successfully trade altcoin then it is definitely more profitable because generally you trade bitcoin-altcoin with the idea of growing your bitcoins, it is then clear to see that this would be more profitable than just holding your bitcoins.
