Do you guys intend fixing the syncing bug in the Linux version?

When will phenixtrader be open beta It's not phenixtrader now its phenixex.com(phenixexchange) Developers are saying that the site is ready they are doing the final tweaking it can be released any time. Just keep an eye on the official update thread. phenixtrader.com is a different service than phenixex.com, it allows browser based integrated trading (optionally automated / bot supported I understand) on different exchanges etc., which is really cool

I wish this was true.
Basic math.

This doesn't pass a basic sanity test. Check your units.
Er sorry, 21M and $350,000 respectively. What about my units specifically? You are saying that all the gold that has been mined would fit into a ball the size of a melon. There is much more gold than that. Start with your number for the total tonnes of gold from your reference. Then construct the conversion factor. The way I teach this is to write down an equation of two things that are equal, such as x tonnes = y kg Then, for this problem, you want to cancel tonnes. So divide both sides of the equation by "x tonnes" and there you have 1 = (y kg / x tonnes) Multiply your number of tonnes by this conversion factor. I think you will end up with a cube about 0.1 or 0.2 Km on a side. I can believe that number. No, I am saying all the gold that has been mined could be divided into 21 million solid gold melons, that is balls of gold with diameter approximately 3.5 inches each. Insinuating that 1 BTC will be worth as much in the not so distant future!

Mmh ... to original post announces a 2.5 minutes blocktime. As http://phenixcoin.com/ states a 1.5 minutes blocktime, I was suspecting a typo. But looking at the code, the target blocktime is indeed 1.5 minutes (which means 2.5 days with 2400 blocks for retarget). The values in the comments in the code are unmodified from litecoin and thus misleading ^^ With the update, the blocktime is still 1.5 minutes, and 480 blocks to retarget corresponds to 12 hours (ideally). Would be nice to correct the original post (and also many sites / pools announcing the 2.5 minutes blocks) Is it 1.5 or 2.5 minutes per block? 1.5 according to the code, and only the code matters.

Regarding the "Wallet won't sync if compiled from source in Linux" issue:
I started phenixcoin-qt with the following lines added in ~/.phenixcoin/phenixcoin.conf as well as in ~/.config/Phenixcoin/Phenixcoin-Qt.conf:
addnode=37.140.234.240 addnode=199.201.107.145 addnode=199.201.106.33 addnode=98.143.37.245
It's been running for several hours now and sync is still stuck at block 2400.
(Strangely enough, after a while it shows "370796 blocks remaining" and "Downloaded block 2399 of 373195" although there are only 46418 blocks in total by now, which it showed correctly earlier)
barwizi is experiencing the same problem and 2400 is the old difficulty retarget, so probably not a coincidence.

We are only 88 blocks from a difficulty change.
How did you arrive at this number?
|
|
|
Could any body do the maths and tell us that how much time will it take to reach the retarget block. At the current hash rate.
At the current difficulty of 10.3909 and current average hashrate of approximately 21 MH/s it takes about (10.3909 * 2^32 H) / (21 MH/s) = 2125 seconds - or 35 minutes - to solve a block. That's approximately 35 minutes * 812 = 38 days for the remaining 2400 - (46412 mod 2400) = 1588 blocks until the next difficulty change. Wrong imho. Only 96 blocks until next diff change. 46412 mod 480 = 96 96 * 35 minutes = 56 hours, so 3 days max at current hashrate. "Changes that have been implemented are: Difficultly changes every 480 blocks max change is 80%. We have also added checkpoints as well."Yes, sorry for that. See my correction above. 46412 mod 480 = 332 though, but those are the blocks already mined after the last difficulty change. So only 480 - 332 = 148 blocks remaining until the next difficulty change

No, don't forget the new client changes this. We are only 88 blocks from a difficulty change.
Oops, of course, it applies immediately, sorry. So at the current difficulty of 10.3909 and current average hashrate of approximately 21 MH/s it takes about (10.3909 * 2^32 H) / (21 MH/s) = 2125 seconds - or 35 minutes - to solve a block That's approximately 148 * 35 minutes = 3 days and 15 hours for the remaining 480 - (46412 mod 480) = 148 blocks until the next difficulty change.

You can also put them in your phenixcoin.conf
addnode=37.140.234.240 addnode=199.201.107.145 addnode=199.201.106.33 addnode=98.143.37.245
Thanks, just tried that, still no luck. (To be precise I put that in ~/.config/Phenixcoin/Phenixcoin-Qt.conf on Ubuntu, assuming that is what you mean by phenixcoin.conf) Now I'm seeing "44013 blocks remaining" but that's just because in the meantime 2 new blocks got solved. If I hover over the progress bar I see ".. Downloaded 2399 of 46412 blocks.." so it is still stuck at block 2400. I guess it's name is phenixcoin.conf in the same folder where your wallet.dat is. The file didn't exist there (in ~/.phenixcoin) unlike the ~/.config/Phenixcoin/Phenixcoin-Qt.conf which already existed but I just created it and put the lines you gave me there. Didn't help though, still stuck at block 2400

ok done thanks, but my wallet won't sync Same problem here on Ubuntu compiled from source: wallet sync won't complete, currently stuck at block 2400 for 20 minutes already. add these nodes with addnode 37.140.234.240 199.201.107.145 199.201.106.33 98.143.37.245 Do I have to add them with phenixcoind? Already tried running ./phenixcoin-qt -addnode=37.140.234.240 -addnode=199.201.107.145 -addnode=199.201.106.33 -addnode=98.143.37.245 but no luck

ok done thanks, but my wallet won't sync Same problem here on Ubuntu compiled from source: wallet sync won't complete, currently stuck at block 2400 for 20 minutes already. There is no phenixcoind in ~/Phenixcoin after doing " git clone https://github.com/phenixcoin/Phenixcoin.git; cd Phenixcoin; qmake; make", only phenixcoin-qt Even deleted the entire ~/.phenixcoin directory except for the wallet.dat, still doesn't sync to make phenixcoind you cd into src then make -f makefile.unix. But still u can go in terminal then ./phenixcoin-qt -printtoconsole if you dont need the phenixcoind i think there is something wrong though. i also compiled linux via source. Thanks! That worked, now I am seeing the debug output too, but mostly getting "Connection timeout" for all peers. BTW I am stuck at "44011 blocks remaining" (which is at block 2400) just like you. Hello guys, There is a problem with hashrate. 70% of it is on a single pool it needs to be divided.. I would suggest to use http://www.phenixmining.com/Thanks. Good point
