I do not think that the Asia cup is going to be moved away from Pakistan. Whatever is happening right now is basically, they are trying to make a big issue out of a simple thing. And I do not think that the Pakistan Cricket Board authority should do anything for which they will have to suffer.

As expected, India won this match by a big margin of 91 runs. Srilanka team were all out at 137 runs and there was no match between these two teams. India already made too big first innings score that everyone knew that Srilanka will collapse chasing this score. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis tried so save wickets and scored 44 runs in the first wicket partnership.
However after the dismissal of Mendis, Srilanka start losing quick wickets and the match was all over for them in 16.4 overs.

I was also referring to the memes after Afridi's comment about players having a strike rate of 135 to be in the T20 team and Babar and Rizwan are their consistent players and if they had better players to fill their spot they would be in the team by now. Babar and Rizwan are having a strike rate below 130 even in domestic T20 but their average is above 40. Former star player Shahid Afridi is currently serving as the head of the national team selection committee of PCB. He has been talking about various changes after coming to the Pakistan Cricket Board. He wants to rebuild the team and make it reliable. In recent times, his various expressions have been at the center of criticism. He will not keep anyone below strike rate of 135 to settle the T20 team. Such statements seem to be completely baseless. Because Babar Azam and Rizwan are both reliable batsmen in Pakistan and under 135 strike rate. Apart from them, I doubt whether there are any players in Pakistan at present who are belongs to play well. I am sure he will amend his statement. Mohamad Rizwan is playing decently now, and I don't think that the PCB should ruin his career by overburdening him with additional responsibilities (the same thing that happened with Babar Azam). Let Sarfaraz Ahmed handle this responsibility for now, as he is more mature and experienced. I would have considered Shaheen Shah Afridi (once he is free from injury), but having a pace bowler as the captain is a bit extreme. Australia tried to do the same with Pat Cummins, and I am afraid that it is not working that well.
Shaheen Shah Afridi would have been my number 1 contender for the captaincy spot. He is a bowler and would be able to handle the pressure but injuries might hamper him as a captain. Pakistan have already lost 5 wickets they are struggling to play spin. Both Sodhi and Bracewell have taken 2 wickets each. At this momentum Pakistan might lose this test match. Scenario has changed completely. Pakistan started the first session decently, but now they have lost 3 additional wickets. Sarfaraz Ahmed and Saud Shakeel are at the crease now, with Agha Salman to come next. And after that the tail starts with Hasan Ali. India lost to Sri Lanka by just 16 runs. Sri Lanka has performed very well in terms of batting and has also done well in terms of bowling. And the reason India lost was because of the high number of wickets falling. Shubman, Ishan, Tripathi these three batsmen could not stand at the crease. Due to the fall of their wickets, India was under a lot of pressure early in the game after losing wickets.
Lost the match, but it was a big fighting match from India. Sri Lanka might've thought it to be a easy winning match, as the wickets kept falling from the beginning. Once India was at 64 losing 5 wickets in 10 overs. By the end of 20 overs India reached 190 runs losing 8 wickets. The contribution from Axar, Surya, Mavi is really good. India lost 5 wickets for 57 runs but still were able to make 190 runs. There was no contribution from top order only lower order batsmen were able to score runs like Suryakumar Yadav, Axer and Mavi. So series is leveled now and we will have an exciting 3rd T20I. India although lost yesterday but they chased the target quiet gracefully as they already lost 5 wickets in early overs still they chased upto 190 runs . I think this is not the issue. T20 or Test match. The players are almost same. And I think if a player is practicing good so he can perform well. I think they have lack of practice or others issues can matter. Or there can be mis management too. And Babar should focus on the team and not only on his personal stats.

Test format is not entertaining in current era of T20 but we have to admit that Test cricket will continue to exist for coming years. So its not a good idea to ignore test format since it produces quality players for ODI and T20. Meanwhile Pakistan recovering nicely as they are now 271/4 and Sarfraz has once again scored a fifty and that too in crucial time. 177 still more required, Pakistan need to be careful as they are in habbit of losing quick wickets. If he could stay, Pakistan would have been stay in reliable position. I hope that the disappointment of Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed's wicket fall in the match will be able to fulfill it through Saud Shakeel. In the meantime he has been able to complete the century. If Pakistan won't lose wicket until the end of day then Pakistan can get something good in this test series. Such a close match and defeat by Sirlankan players , they somehow chased the target and left short of 2 runs . This pitch didn't favour batsman at all , congratulations India for their victory and congrats specially to new selected team whose hardwork is clearly visible. |

@Sithara007 I vividly remember the 2008 IPL and all credits goes to Lalit Modi, but after he was ousted out of power I thought that IPL would end but the upward trajectory of IPL has shocked all including me.
However if it continues to become bigger and bigger in duration then I’ll completely stop watching it, and I’m sure that many other fan’s too will boycott it as it’s USP was that it was a quick tournament but now it’s been made longer just to please the advertisers which is really disappointing in my personal opinion.
IPL lasts for almost 2 months and during that time there is no international cricket of any format. Apart from Pakistan, major players of all cricketing countries are in IPL. I do agree that there is little interest in such lengthy tournament. Last year two more teams are added and this will decrease interest in IPL in coming days. |
