I have a video up here with these devices and the new controller firmware.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6fFQUfOtyo

those hashing numbers look nothing like the secret pic jack sent out... wow 900mhz, how do the units feel in temperature? burning hot?

The controller hadn't been running long enough to stabilise the hashrate. No they aren't hot.

so from your 5 units, what is the best kh/s with the new firmware?

So far the best is 1.9MH

So what's the magic cocktail to get to the ~450-550 range we saw from asiabtc I wonder?

0.5 BTC for 300khs: Am I right in thinking that it would take 2-3 months to break even?
My back of the napkin says 50 day break even ~ hence I am buying a large number of shares.

edit: quote messed up, but the below question is to you Ninj, just to be clear.

^this piques my interest.... Can you let me into your numbers to calculate above?

I am thinking of 5 more shares...

Hey Daemon.

Here you are:

.48BTC (.024X20).

So what's the official word?

Are we waiting longer or locking in?

Is .024BTC the agreed-on price diff. to pay?

Just want to get hashing one way or another.

Thanks in advance.

ok, so after 4-5 hours of hardware debugging and lots of chinese, i made mine to work, everything works ok, miner varies somewhere around 3.1MH - 3.4MH

Final verdict, yes, it works Smiley

Do you wish to share basic steps what you did to get them running?
I think people will have the same problem soon when more units arrives. Im waiting my tracking and unit maybe next week.

i will work on writing up a guide today.

Be sure to put your BTC or LTC donation address on it.  I'd be willing to toss you a couple bucks worth of either for your efforts.  Smiley

Perhaps it can be posted to Google Docs or something and we can all add/contribute to it as well?

+1

I wonder what people think of the following I dragged from a vertocoin thread:

"[–]D4wn0ff473 7 points 4 days ago*

First of all these asics are jokes. The hash power for both btc and ltc is not worth the price. The only thing that makes them worth the price is the 7w of power usage for 300Kh/s on solo scrypt ventures, but the 8gh/s for btc mining at 100w is not going to make a dent in the current pedohash network power. Even going after other 256 coins on the btc side would not be worth it because most of those networks are already drowning in asics and fpgas. Even if you had a a couple hundred of them you would still not be making a decent enough dent to have roi ever especially with the current price.

But alpha technologies has 5mh/s and 25mh/s scrypt asics that will be shipping in a few months. Not to mention that sluicebit has 2 and 4 mh/s scrypt fpga's that will be shipping soon. The game will soon be over for scrypt coins with no differential built in like vert does. But I really feel bad for the people who wasted and will waste their money on these asics. The company obviously saw the train coming of the larger asics and fpgas so they sped up dev to get these out as fast as possible. They will be outdated and worhtless in a few months and the owners will never have a chance to make the majority of their money back
."

Discuss.

who buys these miners, dont buy them for BTC, if u buy them for BTC ... u're a joke Smiley
there is nothing to discuss, no one is forcing you to buy

Hi Rammy:

I have an order in for a LA3M and looking forward to it. And yes, I plan on mining scrypt, not BTC. (Duh?)

I posted this more to see what people were thinking about this guy's perspective; the thoughts from that thread are not my own--that's why they appear in quotations.

 Undecided

Umm, right now the price of bitcoin on several exchanges is about $630 * .17 = $107.10 A difference of $22 over the $85 purchase price. I feel thats little extreme for an item that is suppose to cost $85.00. 10 Units x $22.00 $220 is a fairly big cost difference.

Dunno

Yeah, the math is hurting me:

I paid 2.14BTC@around 750.00 for 20 units = ~ $1605.00.

+ new charge difference with BTC drop for me [.063X20] 1.26X~$625.00= $787.50

Sum of Group buy Price:                 ~$2392.00

Sum of Price on Dual Miner Site:      ~$1842.00

Delta of Group Buy:                        ~$550.00

Arrgh...I'll let you know by Sunday.  Tongue

Hmmm Heres a good question on what to do..

300 miners costs currently this much.

If you break that down its about BTC0.127 a unit.
And I am asking BTC.107
If you times that by 300 I am short by BTC5.71.. so now the question is what to do.

I have opened up a Donations address to help get that amount.
19xqsnKifbdNQWRcAePYkYhGN8xd4Bosdp

There are 27 of us listed, if we all chip in we're looking at BTC ~0.21148148 each. Just an idea.

then you run into the issue where guy X only ordering 1 dualminer, where guy Z ordering 20.. should both pitch in the same amnt?
We can fix an amount for each ?

Asking for .019 BTC is not that big of a deal if your going by unit share, but for people who ordered 20--this is a pretty big add-on. (Even though it's proportionate). I think that a reasonable expectation, and one which would get traction from the group is defraying your cost by .10BTC per unit share. I know that may sound cheap, but I think it's a reasonable compromise with the group.
But yeah, maybe I'm cheap.

I think the longer we wait to order the more it costs in opportunity lost, so eventually something has to budge.

Hi Demon:

Are you able to make the order despite the shortfall?

In all likelihood, BTC will rise back to 800 USD in about three weeks.

Has anyone set up the LA3M yet with all accompanying stuff that is supposed to come with it:
10XUSB cell, 1X controller,2X 12V industry adapter,10Xmini usb cable,10 12V power cable,1Xusb hub,1Xmini usb cable,1X5V usb adapter

asiabtc says you are supposed to be able to connect, configure, and run it all with above gear. Am I missing anything besides a laptop to get these guys going? Also, anybody think it will be a problem to get LA3M setup going in addition to 20Xdualminers on the same laptop? (only running scrypt hashing).
458  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: SCRYPT ASIC miner ready. BTC+LTC ASIC , combo.Two new model coming >10MHS. on: February 12, 2014, 02:07:08 PM
im still waiting on the new firmware.
these gridseeds have been inconsistent.

speeds ranging from 0.6mh - 2.5mh never been above the 3mh

wow ... pretty unstable

^
This has got me a little worried...

Owners list updated, and the replacement riser came in so we are now running on all 7 cards ~ now hitting nearly 6.5Mh/s.

Hi ninj!

Are there more shares to be bought?

Yes, there are still 94 shares left in group #4.  You should also pick up a share in group 5, it's currently priced UNDER the market value for gridseed chips; as the price of BTC has fallen, and the scrypt asics are priced in USD ~ plus no additional hosting fees.

Hmm I just might get a few more shares in both GBs, though I made a large investment already in 20X dualminer USBs and an LA3M. I would have to wait in any case a week to buy/attain more BTC. Hopefully, I can. I think this makes pretty good sense. One thing that has me frightened though is that I am new to mining and hoping I don't fry my gear  Shocked. Anyway, will try to buy more shares if I can free up more funds. Thanks again for putting this together.

We're great at frying gear so you don't have to Wink We try to always get the latest, most profitable gear and pass the saving on to our owners. We do accept ACH payment from existing owners at preev.com rate, so no need to wait on buying BTC.

Crap, already put my order for withdrawal in with virtex....it'll take 3-5 days. probably Friday. I still hope there are spots in both groups by then.
