441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Simplified Way to Understand Gas Price and Gas Limit. on: April 20, 2020, 06:25:18 AM
Today i will be sharing with the house some insight from my course and studies on Gas Price and Gas Limit.

I'll also need more clarification about what I'm not getting right. Here is an excerpt:

Quote
Let’s imagine that somebody needs to get from point A to B in his car. For making it possible car needs to be filled with gasoline.

For example, gasoline will cost $10 per gallon. And to cover the same distance always the same amount of gasoline should be spent.

Then let it be for covering the distance from A to B 50 gallons of gasoline should be spent which means that forces making it possible the amount of $500 should also be spent.

In this example, we have 1 gallon = 1 point of gas and 10$ is a gas price for this one gas point.

This is probably the easiest example of how Ethereum fee system works. Might be that is why gas in Ethereum is called so.

Areas I want us to throw light on are as follow:

1. How's the ethereum fee system different from bitcoin fee system?

2. In smart contract we understand that there are three types of memory saving storage.

 a. The Volatile stack access
 b. The Volatile memory access
c.   The Non-volatile
How do these storages type affect or determine  the cost of storage on the ethereum blockchain?

3. Share other  knowledge you have regarding this topic for the general benefit of all.
442  Economy / Economics / Re: The US Stimulus - How do you feel about it ? Too little to late? on: April 19, 2020, 07:25:33 PM

The US Stimulus - How do you feel about it in general and also in how it is divided?

Do you think more should have gone to small businesses and families/individuals?

Its not a true Economic Stimulus plan.

Disaster Relief or Quarantine Support are more accurate descriptions.

Grow your own food packages and information kits should be distributed. To encourage decentralization of food processing/production in the event of centralized supply chains becoming infected or shut down.

The government could incentivize work from home sectors. Whether the focus is developing new skillsets or job opportunities being available online. A better paradigm shift towards workers better coping with a quarantine environment.

It is possible we'll see an emphasis on these trends from the private sector. Which could illustrate positive facets of capitalism, for a change.

I think you have a laudable point. This coronavirus pandemic has really brought remote working ideology to limelight. For this stimulus package to really be effective it should be channelled into the funding of a decentralized system of food security, remote working skills.

That's a sure way to go.
443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network questions on: April 19, 2020, 07:18:10 PM
Well, when it comes to Lightening Network- it is developed to solve two major problems, which are:
1. Delay and
2. Cost of bitcoin transaction.

Below is the thread that throw much emphasis on what I want to share in this regards.

444  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit isn't everything in bitcointalk! on: April 19, 2020, 07:07:04 PM
Sorry for another topic about merit guys! But I wanted to tell this to everyone, especially to newbies. Smiley

A high number of merits earned by an individual is a sign that he is a quality poster but it doesn't mean every less earned member is not knowledgeable enough. Earning merits depends on a lot of factors like which section we would like to post/discuss and which local board we belong to. So some members can earn more if their board and section have high active members and merit sources.

Actually what I wanted to tell is, if you are not making enough merits even after you are giving your maximum effort doesn't mean that you are not deserved to be on bitcointalk at someday you will get caught by the merits sources until that keep posting and learn new things which you are being yourself.

Great topic. Though, I'm relatively new but I do have a suggestion to make.
If you focus on merit you may give up when its not coming in the short run.
If you focus on value and knowledge, then the merit these two will produce merits both in the short run and in the long run.

I am so happy to know about this forum and I am so pleased to be here, I registered to learn, later I will contribute. Few days ago I googled about how to earn bitcoin and I read about this forum from three online sites. I have tried faucets and pay to click but they are not good for earning at all. I now decided to join bitcointalk, I have not posted yet but I have learnt few things and I now know that this forum is also very useful for information. Anyone on this forum that will be scammed or handle bitcoin wrongly will be a fool forever as all information needed to be a successful bitcoin user is already here and I have seen few.

I have read the rules and regulations and I am pleased with it, it defined me how this forum will have good qualities and makes me to respect all members. I will keep to the rules and regulations as the punishment for spamming and plagiarizing is ban.

Questions
I have known little about the forum but there are still some questions that bothers me.

First, my merit is zero while I see some members having more than 100 merits or more. How can I earn merits?

Second, I also noticed some members are well ranked, how can I be a ranked member?

Third, can you please tell me other things that can help me?

Thank you so much.

Few weeks ago, I became a member of this forum and I asked similar question.
I feel you'll learn more by going through the thread. Here is the link below:

446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Education on: April 19, 2020, 06:17:56 PM
Addressing the future, cryptocurrency such as bitcoin should be taught in schools. This is why I did innovate a basic strategy as my research to used base numbers in cryptographic algorithm.

However, the computer is there to compute the numbers. But still, learners should be able to know the manual computation and how it increase and decrease according to its equivalent value.

In addition, this will make the new evolution of numbers of Mathematics.

Yes- we need cryrocurency education but it should not only be on a mathematical aspect.

It should included in economics modules and entrepreneurial modules.
This is because we need new set of entrepreneurs and policymakers that are knowledgeable around this financial revolution.
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Introduction to Cryptocurrencies: USDT on: April 19, 2020, 06:11:38 PM
To put it simple: coin speculation could be risky and investors need to be cautious. Such honest companies are hard to find.

In Bitcoin whitepaper SN stated that the essence of bitcoin is to take trust from the central authorities which is a core feature of fiat currency.
So, if USDT has the issue of trust and centralization that means it work more like fiat.
Here is a thread on Stablecoin that relate to this discourse.

What if this virus would be more worst than we think ? what if the infected people would turn into zombies just like in the movies? Well, if you're a fan of horror or a gamer actually, you simply say to your mind that its a dream to come true, but the reality is you were also afraid when you think about it when it becomes real. How important is your position, job and money especially your crypto assets? All our achievements in life would be all useless  Grin

Human is strong and has survive and adapt several conditions through the civilisation and evolution of the world.
If we have the worst case scenario with the coronavirus pandemic then we'll also have the best form of innovation to tackle it.

The crownvirus pandemic is a good thing that it will make people realize that all their so called "achievements" in work, financial wealth or social status are basically useless, invented junk and does not matter. I never plan further than few weeks or months.

Covid-19 will not mutate into zombie plague. It is not rabies.

Covid-19 can become more deadly, if it is not already deadly enough.

Covid-19 can be end of the world as we know it as global supply collapses or people take power back in their own hands from government. Capitalism and internationalism collapses, I see this as a good thing to happen.

My cryptocoins will be safe no matter what. They can become almost without value, like trashload of iXcoins and i0coins I have.

Friend, this is quite an interesting point of view.

Covid-19 simply revolutionalise the world system. It exposes it inadequacies and it will make the world to pivot the economy and some core ideology behind economy and political leadership.

449  Economy / Economics / Re: The Coronavirus and A Deflationary Crisis on: April 19, 2020, 06:54:40 AM
Some Coronavirus lessons costed us too much. Bitcoin believers have been saying that this crypto has a big potential to become a medium of exchange, in fact, we experienced panic selling phenomena. It's so sad Cry

During financial crisis there usually 'bloods on the streets' which means that people will loose their investment due to panic.

Well, deflationary and inflationary tendencies are what create profit in the market. So, its good to hold on to what you've until the coronavirus pandemic is over.
450  Other / Beginners & Help / Solidity| The Best Programming Language. on: April 19, 2020, 06:35:05 AM
My current topic in my course is solidity programming language.
What we need to learn from this technology is beyond what is contained in this course.

Here is an excerpt from this particular topic.

Quote
One of the most popular Blockchain programming languages right now is called Solidity. It has been created by Vitalik Buterin, the primary author of Ethereum. Solidity is used for making smart contracts. Let’s remember, the smart contract is a code which defines the rules for all participants, controls and penalizes for breach of obligations.

The most practical and popular usage of Solidity nowadays is the development of dApps (decentralized applications).

Here is the list of areas for solutions available at the dApp market right now:

Games

Exchanges

Collectibles (something like rare and unique baseball cards but on Blockchain)

Casinos

Video streaming

Trading signals

etc.

I believe the scope of possible application is way more huge. We just need some time to adapt the technology and build awesome products. And we are writing this guide today exactly for this purpose. I guess every person could benefit from Blockchain technology especially if he/she understands the basics. Who knows, maybe YOU are the person who will make a revolution of the Internet.

So, let’s move on to Solidity coding principles.

 Our first smart contract

Let’s make a code in Solidity. Have a look at the finished version:

pragma solidity ^0.4.17; contract Whatsup {     string public message;     function Whatsup (string firstMessage) public {         message = firstMessage;     }     function setMessage(string newMessage) public {         message = newMessage;     }     function getMessage() public view returns (string) {         return = message;     } }

At first sight, it looks a bit confusing...
And what does this code do?

It allows anyone to write a text message to the Blockchain. Then anyone can write another message and the program will update (replace) the first message by the second message. All these actions will be saved at our Blockchain forever.

I want the forum to discuss by sharing their opinions on the   following areas:

1.What does the Constructor Function help to achieve in programming with solidity?

2.Aside from solidity, what other programming languages can help to develop smart contract which will be integrated on blockchain?

3. In what ways can we compare Python, Java and other programming languages to solidity ?

Here is one of the link I have lookee up to get more insight on this subject.

451  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to know is someone real and trusted for Bitcoin trading? on: April 18, 2020, 08:03:07 PM
Trusting somebody in cryto trading is a high risk that should not be taken unless it is your best of friends even as that don't take the risk.

Aside from escrow system in place the next factor to consider is the trust system.
When these two are in place I believe you can do business with anybody without fear of trust.
452  Economy / Economics / Re: Forex trading on: April 18, 2020, 07:53:58 PM
Just wanted to share some info with you guys. I been playing with forex trading automatic trader with signals that buy when either over bought/sold signal is detected. Still messing MA settings but I got a profit of 8% today off of 2,000 USD invested.

Well, I don't really know what you want to achieve with your post. This is what I will say about forex and bitcoin trading. The two are can be speculated and profit made when doing well.
453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If we are to start from beginning. on: April 18, 2020, 07:47:36 PM
I was thinking if the world has the opportunity to restart again as the covid-19 pandemic has "made" it to look like, that different people would have this thought going on in their head. If the economy would have to begin again from the start, what would you want it to be like?
Things you want to exclude or include especially with the economy in relation to bitcoin. Don't include move to regulate bitcoin because it is not going to work  Grin.

** I would like btc to continue pairing with USD. Grin

I would like the supply of bitcoin to be higher then the finite 21million. I believe, this BS is very limited for the whole world and will be highly scarce.
454  Economy / Economics / Re: China’s economy is contracting and this is not good for the global economy. on: April 18, 2020, 02:19:36 PM
Quote

CHINA'S ECONOMY contracted 6.8% during the first three months of the year from the year prior – representing the country's first and largest reported economic decline since it began formally reporting data in the 1990s.

I have till date believed that the Chinese economy was going to remain strong despite the virus crisis, but I’m stunned to see that their economy is contracting, and I believe this will impact each and every country’s economy who trade a lot with them. Furthermore what do you’ll think that China should do at this stage to arrest this fall, and most importantly do you’ll believe that they’ll be able to repair their economy?.

Source:

https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2020-04-17/chinese-economy-contracts-68-as-coronavirus-cases-revised-higher

The reason for the shrink in China economy is due to the shrink in its international or export trade. You know China is a manufacturing economy and many countries rely on China for one raw material or other.

So, China loosing these business due to covid-19 containment measures which closes exportation and importation is the cause of the decline of China economy.
455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin halving 2020 is almost here, are you ready? on: April 18, 2020, 02:12:06 PM
There are core ideology that will make the bitcoin ecosystem sustainable. They include:
1. Decentralization
2. Trust and
3. The scarcity of bitcoin supply. This is where the halving financial philosophy comes into play. It ensures that the supply of money is scarce and that'll increase the value of bitcoin.
456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: STABLECOINS CAN STOP HYPERINFLATION? on: April 18, 2020, 09:49:27 AM
I think you mixed up the role of the stable coins
Stable coins have no role in the volatility of bitcoin or altcoins.

Stable coin role is in itself to remain in a stable price either in a bull or bear season.

The volatility in crypto currency will continue because that's the only way bitcoin can be 7000$ today, and 20,000$ tomorrow.

The most important, always do your own research

Great comment.
But I don't agree with you on your opinion because the economic concept of stability means anti-volatility.

The more stable a coin is the more confident a potential investor be to invest.
457  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Smart is Smart Contract? on: April 18, 2020, 09:37:27 AM
Lately, Ive seen your active inquiries here about different scope of cryptocurrency and blockchain. But I am glad you are studying it and even ask questions here.

For all we know both are decentralized and not govern or under any authorities or entity. So whats the big difference?

Ethereum si also a blockchain same like with bitcoin however the only difference that quite notable for me. Is the block time or the transaction set on both network. No doubt ethereum is faster that it could take seconds compared to the minutes of bitcoin. Ethereum utilize ethhash while bitcoin uses SHA-256 well comparing technology I am way favor on bitcoin efficient and more profound mechanism.

1.What's actually a smart contract in practical sense?
Smart contract is a method of computer code algorithym created to have a more transparent and irreversible way of transactions. Practically depends on how you viewed it but having a smart contract and leaving third party fees would be beneficial right?

2. How does it make etheruem different from blockchain?
This is quite a confusing question. Ethereum uses blockchain so I am not sure how to answer this, in my little senses.

3. What are the real world applications of a smart contract?
Perfect usage of having a smart contract is tokenization. Example of these are ICOs and IEOs where they used the function to create tokens under the ethereuk network known as erc20 tokens. Also can be used on dApps.

4.Is Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) a function in blockchain? How does it work with solidity programming language.?
This is quite a long answer but Ive search this and how it relates on solidity progamming of ethereum software.

[2]. https://github.com/ethereum/wiki/wiki/Ethereum-Virtual-Machine-(EVM)-Awesome-List

Thanks for your contributions. It was really helpful insights.

Correction to question 2:
I mean to ask how does smart contract make ethereum different from bitcoin.?

Smart contracts are basically automated contracts/agreements facilitated by the system. It basically acts as something similar to a third party, that enforces the agreement between the two parties. Ethereum and blockchain are different things, so comparing them isn't really anything good.

Ethereum uses the blockchain system, just like how BTC does, but it has included a smart contract system to it, hence the difference between the two.

Some practical uses of the smart contract would be anything that rewards a user once a certain achievement is done. Just imagine in a game when User X achieves achievement A, the contract done at the start of the game would automatically reward the user. There's a bit of discussion hereif you want more detailed explanations regarding examples.

Thanks so much. I've made a correction to question 2.

Smart contract can be seen as an agreement between party's and partyB with a third party (party C) as the intermediary.
party A is the company, partyB is the investors or users of the coin and party C is the technology.

So, instead of human legal system serving as party C it is decentralized and make technology to replace it.

I believe this explanation explain it in part.
458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin halving real or just a theory?? on: April 18, 2020, 06:11:26 AM
According to coindex, https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-halving-explainer

Bitcoin halving is an antcipated event in the cryptocurrency world that takes place every 4 years. Basically halving the total amount of Bitcoin in circulation.

Is this real or just a theory? Taking into consideration that people are falling back to cryptocurrency during this hard time in the world.
Share your thoughts!

I'll start by saying these:
1. Bitcoin is a financial ideology and philosophy built to replace the fiat model.
2. Halving will bring the feature of money called relative scarcity to bit coin.
3. Its a work in progress though not already there but we shall verify in due time
459  Economy / Economics / Re: If bitcoin is made for times like these why is everyone selling at a time like.. on: April 18, 2020, 06:05:52 AM
Correlation , enough said.
My question simply is in a time of hysteria why sell out things that will be of more value in said hard times.
Unless said items where merely marketed as a fail safe without acutally being a fail safe.

Well, this is what I think.
I feel the period of economic crisis people need to be more liquid or need funds in order to maximise other investment opportunity.

That being said, not holding on to your bitcoin in time of downtown shows that there is fear in the market if bit coin will reduce drastically in value.
460  Other / Beginners & Help / How Smart is Smart Contract? on: April 18, 2020, 05:53:46 AM
As i progress in my cryptographic and blockchain course, I'm now in ethereum topic. It has been a great progressive journey.

But, I want to share what I'm learning and also to ask relevant questions in regards to the this topic. This will also help others that have vague knowledge or shallow knowledge about this topic to learn better.

Here is an excerpt from the course.

Quote
Ethereum, as well as Bitcoin and tons of other cryptocurrencies, at first sight, is just a blockchain-based system that provides us a decentralized payment system for our needs. So why it is so different?

The main idea of Ethereum is not only just a payment system but also building additional logic that allows us to implement our own needs in the blockchain system.

In Ethereum it is done by Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) that can execute code in the Ethereum network written on a specific language called Solidity. The programs created with Solidity in a blockchain network are called Smart Contracts.

What I want us to discuss on are as follow:

1.What's actually a smart contract in practical sense?

2. How does it make etheruem different from bitcoin?

3. What are the real world applications of a smart contract?

4.Is Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) a function in blockchain? How does it work with solidity programming language.?

Kindly share your insight with the community.
