Gox Gox
can somebody explain me why in hell so many ppl kept their coins there after march 2013?
old accounts created back when all you needed was an anonymous throw away email account to sign up...can't really do that anymore

Ah.
Is that the reason why so many people are so anxious to save MtGOX, even with a radical haircut on their balances, rather than liquidating it?

This video with Andreas Antonopoulos and Stefan Molyneux goes into the Bitcoin community's attachment to Gox.

I think "the pundits here" mostly have no clue what they are talking about or they are just plain out lying.

...otherwise known as "a speculation thread."

The biggest lesson from Gox is DONT LEAVE YOUR COINS ON THE EXCHANGES! ... or in fact with anybody else.

Odd... the lesson *I* learned from all this is "don't leave the car top down when expecting rain."

Ahh yes, the bitcoinica "thing"
I got "Tounged" for ten

As your personal Lord and Saviour I would just like you to know I have a reason for everything that happens to you. It was not a mistake of mine to make that happen. I have a grand scheme just for you and that episode was a part of it. Keep the faith.

If Gox was tasked with destroying Bitcoin, we would be at $75,000 per coin right now.

Someone get me in touch with Karpeles. I have an idea...

<off topic geekery>that was Ralph Wiggum</off topic geekery>

thx, sorry. My younger brother (43) would be ashamed of me for the mistake. Smiley

Holy shit, guys!  I know a lot of you are hurting, and I'm sorry.  150+ of my bitcoins are going down with the gox ship, but I can't quite express just how excited I am for the future of bitcoin without MtGox.  It's finally happening.  Good riddance, and fuck you, Gox!

Sorry to hear of your loss.

No, that was Ralf that had his heart broken by Lisa.

Thx, sorry.

What is most concerning to me is that even after all that's happened, MK still has not admitted he has done a single thing wrong. If that is the sort of personality at the center of this mess, then how could someone help him even if they wanted to?

Sociopath.

I wonder if he might "opt out" in coming weeks/months. I don't wish it on him of course but computer developers are mostly social misfits, many with emotional issues, and he's going to be receiving verbal (if not other) abuse for the remainder of his life. That's heavy. Once it sinks in, having tons of money may not make a difference.

I wonder if he had some other grand plan that just got surreally derailed. Or perhaps he is one of the best long con operators the world has known; it's just he's been so incompetent that I have to assume even he was actively trying a long con he would just fuck that up as well.

Agenda? That's outrageous! Innocent Jorge is here for purely academic reasons, and to post Chinese Slumber Party updates. His negative posts should only be construed as a sign he was severely wedgied by peers in school.

How could you possibly know that?  Were you one of those kids?  Wink

Because I post some negative comments as well. I just wish I could stop having noghtmares about those days of yore when I myself was constantly wedgied from the playground monkey bars.

Yes, I can help you. Please send me 10BTC first.

Everything I see makes me believe that Gox will never recover and that the funds are most likely lost.
Seems pretty bad..

On a good note he apparently worked *with* competitor Coinbase on security/funds review (audit?) measures recently.

... wedgie image...
Is it me or is Martin enjoying that situation?

lol, maybe. I think he has a perma-smile except when Lisa noted the exact moment his heart broke during Valentine's Day. Martin's always been a little odd.

I wonder if all Gox emails, support tickets, PR statements and other communications will be added to the Karpeles Manuscript Library?

Er, are you advising me to invest in bitcoin now?

Unfortunately you missed the recent low of @95 on Gox. That was the time to buy. Now you'll have to wait until price goes astronomically high, then for Coinbase to go insolvent. Then it should plummet back down below $100 again for you to jump on board. Keep your fiat handy!

SecondMarket was not listed in the "Gox Stinks But We Swear We're Honest" Coinbase blog post last night?

Can we trust Mark to destroy all the ID docs he has?

I think we can count on him to have already sold them to the highest bidder.

Apparently that crazy document was real.  Restructuring coming...
