Common quote from Robin Jones Gunn, you may or may not have heard about it, but is "You go alone, you go fast, you go with people, you go far". Have you met anyone who knows about bitcoins, and then you tried to introduce them to this forum to come join this community, but they refused? I like to see what maybe their reasons where.
I am just over relating that quote to bitcoins; do you have the opinion that lone investors who are not members of any kind of forum or community about bitcoins or cryptocurrency can still be very successful investors?
Let me speak about my own experience, I would never have known anything about Bitcoin without the forum. The forum served as a foundation for my Bitcoin adventure. So I would say that you might need a forum like this to give you all the critical information that will help you understand Bitcoin. After you have gotten most of the information, you need to start making personal decisions and not depending on the group. With the level of information you have acquired, one can now make individual decisions.

But there are still many people that are not members of any forum but they are well-grounded in Bitcoin Investment. They get information from diverse material online and offline and they manage to get the right information.
443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 10, 2024, 06:58:41 PM
~snip~

People diagnosed with open TB are not recommended to go to public places, so if you are not indifferent to this situation, inform the competent authorities. Apparently, this person does not care about the health of others as he visits the betting shop personally.

My acquaintance told a story about his neighbor. He was also diagnosed with this disease. If you want to keep your health in any case do not contact with him and often use disinfectants if you are in the premises he visits. Or better yet, avoid such places altogether.
I would have loved to report him to the relevant authorities but my hands tied. He would see it as a betrayal of trust and he would not be happy with me. And from all indications, he is really enjoying himself in the land-based casino. I feel that he might become depressed since going to a physical casino is what gives him joy. Another problem is that these health officials in my location might take advantage of him and exploit him financially. He might be forced to pay a fine and I know that they are not financially stable because of his health issues.

Maybe reporting to the casino owner might be the best since they also see how he coughs and acts sickly. They could ask him about his health history and advise him to stop coming. But I trust that my neighbour will move to another physical casino. But I am still encouraging him to consider switching to online gambling but he has not heeded my advice.
444  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor people need solution now on: February 10, 2024, 06:40:30 PM
And who should be the solution giver on the poor when everyone is quite busy on his own, we should begin to start with the eradication of the mentality of being dependent on other people or the government for our success, we have to take the responsibility for ourselves and start to tryout new things, we should work on our personal self, create time to discover more about ourselves, build a career profile or learn any valuable skill or trade to help us have something to offer that could get us earnings.
We need to realize from the beginning that we live in a harsh world and there needs to be survival if we want to survive because even though it sounds harsh but the law of the jungle system where the strongest is the one who survives is true only we don't really bring it up because it will be considered a complicated situation but in fact in the application in life this is true where we live based on caste and humans are classified into several economic strata.
I have read history books and I discovered that life was not as bad as it is now. People were not as selfish and greedy as they are now. In those days people were more companionate and considered others but now things have changed and life is now the survival of the fittest. And this new pattern of life has led to an increase in the gap between the rich and poor. The poor have to take responsibility and ensure that they work hard to survive in this jungle-like world.

Quote
But on the other hand this is also for the sake of maintaining the stabilization of the world so that it runs well because if everyone becomes rich then in the end no one wants to work and this will actually break the natural chain that should be well maintained.
Even though it will indeed feel unfair when we live below the poverty line but in the end it is a scheme that cannot be changed because if there are rich then there will definitely be poor but that does not mean we cannot change that destiny it's just that it will be very difficult to do if we do not have any strength in terms of finance and inadequate relationships then in the end we will continue to struggle in the cycle of poverty that occurs.
The world will always have the poor and the rich but the gap between them shouldn't be too much. At least the poor should be able to afford basic needs without too much struggle. In some developed nations majority of citizens have access to what they need to survive. But it breaks my heart when I see the suffering and poverty in developing nations. Coming out from the poverty line is not easy but one has to fight to come out.
445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: February 10, 2024, 04:12:20 PM
What do you think between the match of DR Congo and South Africa who country do you think that will win, for me I think that South Africa will win Congo because their performance during super eagles semi finals, so I believe that the pressure of South Africa can make them to win Congo but I football is not like that, because I know quite well that Congo can introduce another method since they have watched the match between South Africa and super eagles, Congo can emerg winning because South Africa is not comfortable for the winning nigeria won them for their last match
I think South Africa will win the third-place game because they have a better team than Congo DR. The Bafana Bafana has improved as the competition progressed. They have a combination of young and old talented footballers and they also have one the best tactically sound coach. I am supporting South Africa because they deserved to be in the final but were just fortunate not to win the game against Nigeria. South Africans also won my heart when they congratulated Nigeria and there was not even a single case of xenophobia after the loss. Even Kingsley Nwabali's club released a statement calling him a pride and good ambassador of the club. I have nothing against Congo but the bronze medal will be a befitting consolation for the Bafana Bafana.
446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the benefits of cryptocurrency to the illiterate people on: February 10, 2024, 01:38:13 PM
What are the benefits of cryptocurrency to the illiterate people?
Your question is vague. What is your definition of illiteracy, it can be seen from a different perspective. Is it the inability to read or write or the lack of some basic skills? People who don't know how to read or write might not be able to benefit from cryptocurrency because they need these abilities to be able to navigate through the cryptosystem. Reading and writing are important skills for crypto users, without them the person will have to look for assistance.

Anyway, the crypto industry has contributed to the reduction of poverty in some countries. Most crypto service providers pay taxes to the government and these funds are used to build schools and other educational facilities that help to educate people. Some of these firms also engage in social corporate responsibilities like building schools and other educational facilities like libraries to foster literacy.
447  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor people need solution now on: February 09, 2024, 04:31:19 PM
The act of growing vegetables , fruits, or any crops that can be used as food is like printing your own money. I say this because you no longer need to buy food using government currency since you already have it. Perhaps that's a significant saving. However, if you were to create your own currency to be used by others to purchase food in your community, this idea would be illegal, especially in our country, and could result in punishment and imprisonment for us. Perhaps it would be better if, instead of insisting on not using the currency issued by your government, you simply resort to a barter system where food is exchanged for other goods or services.
The solution OP gave will only work in a closed society that is living in isolation. It will be possible to live an agrarian life that lives only on what they produce. But the world has become a global village where communities or nations depend on each other for survival. Food, shelter, clothing, and education are not the basic needs anymore. Now we need the internet, electricity, and other technological gadgets to survive.  Technology is advancing every day and we need them if we want to develop. We also need an internationally recognized currency to buy what we don't produce, so I am wondering how a community-issued currency will buy equipment and other needed materials from other countries.

I live in a developing nation that is going through a lot of economic problems. Young people have been coming out of poverty by learning new skills and securing online and offline jobs. They sacrifice to save some part of their earning and use these funds to invest in profitable ventures.
448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do coaches get sacked over poor performance of players? on: February 09, 2024, 03:35:44 PM
I have followed various sporting activities and I noticed something that hardly make complete sense to me and that is the rationale behind firing a coach when the players do perform poorly. What drew my attention to this is a news flash about Jose Mourinho's case in Roma. According to the article, Mourinho left Roma angry and feeling betrayed by the players. Is it even possible that players will intentionally lose matches because they want their coach out at the expense of their own careers? If this is true, why will the club management reprimand the coach and not the players? I know some people will argue that the coach is the leader of the team and should be responsible for building the unity and love the team need to play in high morale, but in a case the players happen to have hated the coach and have decided to lose matches as punishment for their coach, is it right to fire the coach?
The main problem will be how to prove that the players intentionally underperformed because they want the coach to be sacked. Except you have concrete evidence, maybe from discussions or videos it will be difficult to determine when players are intentionally not giving their best.

Anyway, when players gang up against a coach it is very difficult for that coach to survive except remedial measures are put in place. It is usually easier to sack coaches and to send prayers packing and some players are too powerful that club management will prefer them to remain than for the coach to stay. Players like Ronaldo, Mbappé, Messi, Osimhen, etc can easily dictate to management the kind of coach they want in the club.

In the case of Jose Mourinho, he is always making excuses for his failure. Each time he loses a match he would blame the referee and players. And he would always have someone to play for his sack. He is a human and not above failure, he has to learn to accept his fate in good faith and move on with his legendary coaching career.
449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If I bet big I lose, but if I bet small I win on: February 09, 2024, 02:43:10 PM
Guys, do you often feel like me? when I raise the bet I lose and when I lower the bet I win. Does the casino system/algorithm know the betting patterns we make? So often when we bet big we are given a loss and when our bet is small we actually win, which is very annoying

I don't know if this applies to all games or not, but I feel like this often when playing table games. What do you think?
I might not have experienced this because I work with a gambling budget. As a low-risk taker, I prefer betting with small sums consistently. I rarely increase my bets because I want to always control my emotions during gambling. However, I think many reputable casinos have transparent and fair gambling systems and might not be involved in any form of manipulation.

I would love to feel that feeling, even of a small win as I am losing in a constant way no matter if I bet big or not I always lose. The bad thing is that even if I add together like 6 sport events with odds less than 1.10 each event I still lose as some of these teams/players seem to lose no matter that low odd that they have.It looks like the worse luck is following me day by day so these last couple of days I have completely quit gambling.Let's see how much time I resist.
This response shows that at every point in life, your condition is better than what other people are going through. You complaining about winning a little bet someone is wishing that he would just get a single win. When I hear such news, I always tell myself that no matter my losses, my experience might be better than another bettor somewhere.
450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought FBTC in my 401k. First time ever holding crypto for retirement. on: February 09, 2024, 02:13:03 PM
no you do not have ownership rights of BTC as a ETF share holder.
the sponsor (fidelity) owns the coins they are the sponsor that bought the coins and locked them up

share holders just have partial voting right of the fidelity trust that trades as a company/trust

fidelity can in their sole discretion de-peg the share:coin comparison(share dilution/spread/etc).. fidelity can go bankrupt and can "close out" its fund

the SEC made it clear. there is not "in-kind" redemption.. only "in-cash" which is based on the NAV, which can tank and de-peg should the trust have profitability issues
Thank you for clearing this misconception, I thought investors indirectly owned the coin. However, this post has even shown that investing through these ETF providers makes the process more complicated than I thought. It's a choice and everyone is free to make their Investment decision.

I have a feeling that the wide availability of Bitcoin ETFs will herald one of the longest and most stable bull markets for Bitcoin that we have seen to date. I've always invested in BTC using a private wallet but with Fidelity's offering I feel fairly safe and confident putting a portion of my 401k into it. I had to check a few boxes that I accept the risk but other than that Fidelity authorized the transaction.

Why the ETF when you are having bitcoin to invest, you stand to loose one great opportunity which is what locks you under centralization while dealing with a centralized organization like Fidelity, don't you think you're signing in to their terms and condition could impose a future danger in you later in future, but with bitcoin, there's no need of going through all these because you're investing on a decentralized digital network with bitcoin.
I wonder why people will prefer to invest through a third party when the have ample opportunity to buy Bitcoin directly and hodl it as much as they can. They don't mind going through all the complicated processes instead of spending time to learn how to keep their coin. Some of them have come up with some explanation justifying this move but I still think it is safer and better keep your keys.
451  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies how do you feel when your post is criticised. on: February 09, 2024, 01:43:31 PM
Before starting this topic so many things have been on my mind because I know how it pains for someone to criticise a write up or a post.
I don't even wanna read anymore of what you wrote... For the fact that you're strictly against criticism, that infers that you're not, and will never be ready to learn.... WHAT DO YOU KNOW? THAT YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULDN'T SAY NEIGH WHEN YOU SAY SHIT LIKE THIS??
If you had read further it would have been clear that the OP is not against criticism. His post was just an encouragement to newbies to accept criticism because it will help them in the learning process in the forum. I don't think there was any place in the post that the OP is strictly against criticism like your stated.

The forum is filled with members, who have grown with experience and are ready to share good knowledge and information about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to the younger members .however, I will advice any newbie who is been criticised to take it as a corrective measure and learn from his mistakes.
The forum has one of the most knowledgeable Bitcoiners in the world. Some of the members have been involved with with from the early stage of the coin. The most credible information about Bitcoin can be gotten from this forum and one can hardly get wrong information from here if you are committed to learning.

People fail to understand that a higher degree certificate or what we call in my country paper qualification doesn't guarantee success or financial prosperity. The high rate of unemployment has made university degrees worthless because many applicants are pursuing few job opportunities.

The parents of the OP are ignorant of the current trends of the world. Days are gone when you are sure of getting a job immediately after graduation that is why they should allow this young girl to pursue her passion. If they force her to pursue university degrees, they will end up wasting their money. They should know that there are successful shoemakers, fashion designers, hair stylists, gardeners, morticians, etc. Therefore, they should allow their child to go for passion and not their ambition.
453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: February 08, 2024, 05:17:28 PM
I don't think Pep will jeopardize any game in the EPL henceforth. He will be playing with his full squad against Everton provided that his key players are fit. Everton are desperately looking for points and they will be playing with a determined spirit and hope they do City some damage. Pep knows what's involved so I don think he will play this game without his full squad.
Has Pep Guardiola jeopardized any game or intentionally fielded the wrong players?  He would always field players that he thinks are good for the game and we shouldn't also forget that Manchester City is also chasing other trophies like the UCL. Players needs to be rotated to ensure that key players don't suffer from too much workload. Everton might not be a hard team to win by City because they have not been at their best since the point reduction.  Pep knows exactly what to do because he is not new to EPL games.

I don't think Aston Villa had priority with FA Cup than their target for finishing on top fourth position standings, almost all premier league teams not priority with FA Cup and give chance for youth players get more minutes playing. Aston Villa had impressive performance in Premier League and their priority how get chance with Champion League spot standing finish this season than focus in FA Cup.
Its not much problem for Unai Emery after after eliminating from FA Cup although he was little disappointed with the match result.
Clubs don't misuse opportunities so I think Aston Villa also had interest in winning the FA Cup because it would have secured an automatic qualification for the UEFA Europa League. Being knocked out of the competition is painful because they only have the EPL to qualify for any European competition. They are in a good position to qualify for the Champions League if they keep putting up with their impressive performance.
454  Other / Meta / Re: USE OF CHAT GPT-RULES on: February 08, 2024, 03:18:57 PM
One thing I will say is that you can choose to not use AI, but you can't choose to not have AI used on you. Also, I do agree with you on how the AI content is shared if it is used. Not giving credit is not okay. I don't blame you for not loving the idea of interacting with robots on the forum but i'm just saying for like a general user guide an section in your account settings help page where there lays an ai chatbot for the forum users that could help with anything they ask about the forum & help searching for certain posts, how to explain to new users how to post images or provide extra tips and tricks. Would that be such a terrible thing?
It is better not to adopt what you think is helpful but cannot be controlled. Most of these chatbots are not easy to detect because there are so many detectors that are conflictual and inaccurate. It is better not to introduce anything like these machines in the forum because it will promote cheating and laziness.

The forum has a lot of materials in different sections that can guide anybody on how the forum works. Anybody who wants to learn about the forum should put in some work and not just want to get everything cheaply through a machine. The ability to put in some effort to learn about the forum should be a litmus test for members who are willing to stay on the forum. I don't think this forum will be better if it encourages members to learn through a machine that is causing more harm than good.
455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your response in placing live bets with a friend at a live sporting matches on: February 08, 2024, 01:18:50 PM
Buttressing this whole thing, we individually feels cheated at every blown panelized whistles and of course there is are felling amongst us that any goals scored against our oppositions is not Worth it so there is always room to point at either the referees or the coaches for being biased just because of the game ongoing is not playing towards the favours of our desired teams.
This is to an extend, there was no more funs about the game due to the point of personal interests to make sure our supported team wins the match.
This feeling is common in sports bets where both parties feel that the referee is favouring a team. But referee Amin Mohamed Omar was fair in the game. The only exception to some persons is the penalty he awarded to South Africa after cancelling the goal scored by Osimhen. A close look at the replay proves that he was right because there was actually an impact on Percy Tau by Alhassan Yusuf and they deserve the penalty.

Question:who has been in this scenario before? And how did you managed with your emotions then?
That is why it is important to gamble with what you can afford to lose so that you will not be emotionally unstable. We shouldn't also know that in gambling you either lose or gain, so as you target the win and also expect loss. Since I don't have control over the outcome of the game, the best option is to keep your cool.
456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Struggle now to invest in Bitcoin for a bright future. on: February 07, 2024, 09:46:33 PM
Many of us know about Bitcoin. But due to a lack of funds, we regret about Bitcoin investment. Many people, particularly those from low-income families, regret when we can't invest in Bitcoin. Though we can't solve this problem, we can struggle to achieve our goal. For our daily needs, we must need money to survive. Sometimes we spend money on unnecessary things. So we can avoid spending unnecessary money because we can survive without it. And we can start investing in Bitcoin with that money. We have to find a solid income source, even if it is small. So we can go ahead with our bitcoin investment. If we struggle now, we may build a bright future. Even students could save some money from their daily spending and invest in Bitcoin.
It will take so much sacrifice for a low-income earner to invest in Bitcoin. Most people in my area are not earning enough to cover their basic needs, therefore saving is usually an impossible task. Such a person might consider searching for another high-paying job or getting an additional job so that they could save and invest. Many people have wasted the money they would have used to invest in Bitcoin on luxury materials. These set of people prefer to spend money rather than invest for the future.

I always tell some young lads that it is what you invest today can buy you more than what you cannot afford today. They should not be carried away by current trends in fashion, phones, games, travel etc. Others are waiting to have large funds before they invest but they fail to understand that using DCA is one of the best means to invest in Bitcoin at your own pace.

Although this medium is not very popular or easy, finding a job that pays with Bitcoin is another good means of accumulating Bitcoin. Learning a skill that is needed in the Bitcoin space and getting a Bitcoin-paying job can assist people from low-income families to accumulate.

For example, you want to trade on exchanger but you do not want to set up your own ID kyc process.
Or you want to exchange your crypto and no kyc at all.
My service help Will be that your name will be no where.

Im looking to do this fully like everyday service and to deal with my clients Smiley
It is not a good practice to do KYC on behalf of another person. Exchanges expect clients to go through KYC and not to present fake information. If you know that you don't want to go through KYC it is better to avoid platforms that ask for them. It is also risky to fake KYC because it could lead to identity theft and scams. There are many other legal means of maintaining anonymity that are far better than what OP offers.

Sorry to the OP, your service might be good, but I guess I'm fine doing my own methods regarding my privacy and what not in the crypto world.
The service OP is proposing is in no way good because it is against the terms of services of most exchanges. I have seen people lose so much money due to these third-party services and I will never be a victim. I cannot trust an unknown person with my account.
458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever introduced an elder gambler to online betting? on: February 07, 2024, 06:00:12 PM
As you can see, it wasn't only about gambling, but also about interacting with other people inside a real gambling environment, besides the technological experience not being so rewardable when compared to playing at solid, palpable physical machines.

And you, have you ever successfully introduced an elder person to virtual gambling?
I don't know how old your grandmother is but mine will not have business with modern technology. She has never been a gambler so she wouldn't also understand crypto games. I know that most old gamblers prefer physical gambling because this is what they are used to. I agree that some of them see gambling as entertainment because it is a place where they meet friends, discuss and share drinks. Most of these elderly gamblers are retirees and are always bored, so they need interaction.

They might only consider online gambling if they become ill and don't have access to physical casinos. I have not tried introducing virtual gambling to an elderly person because many of them around me are not gamblers.
459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What You will do in this situation? on: February 07, 2024, 05:43:09 PM

Gambling in sports is completely different from regular gambling. In sports, you must follow all the leagues in their small and large details. You must know all the teams and players, the number of goals and points...
He must have a deep study of everything.
Yes, I can give him a reasonable amount of money, but if he deserves trust,  everything is based on trust
I don't in sports betting you need to know about all the clubs or players to be a good sports bettor. Sports betting needs some level of knowledge but it is also highly determined by luck. Some sports bettors focus on some so they don't necessarily need to follow all the leagues.

Some people always need advice as people may rush to gambling without googling first or making a small research before gambling. If you see anyone of them it is let's say a moral duty to just advice such persons by telling risks associated with gambling and especially to such persons to tell the odds that are totally against you when gambling slot machines or sport betting.I know we live in the Internet era yet some persons rush and do not care but soon they realize their mistake.
The increase in viable information on the internet that could guide gamblers will not stop us from giving people advice. People will always need face-to-face or online counsel and we shouldn't hesitate to offer it to people that need assistance.

https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2024-14

" Feb. 6, 2024 —
The Securities and Exchange Commission today adopted two rules that require market participants who engage in certain dealer roles, in particular those who take on significant liquidity-providing roles in the markets, to register with the SEC, become members of a self-regulatory organization (SRO), and comply with federal securities laws and regulatory obligations.

I will support some measures put in place to protect investors from scams and shady deals but it shouldn't be targeted at controlling Bitcoin. SEC and other regulatory agencies will always claim that they are protecting investors and also upholding the integrity and transparency of the crypto market. But they also have other goals which is to monitor transactions.

"Liquidity providers on DEXs with assets greater than $50,000,000 are required to register with the SEC rules ."
At least I don't need to worry Grin
Indeed, most of us don't need to worry because we don't engage in such high transactions. But if it affects the community, it also affects us. One day you might need the services of these CEXs. They are trying to control the Bitcoin ecosystem.
