Regardless, I am curious what's next to the winner. When the coward Tank Davis was given a free belt, I doubt there will be another undisputed champion in this division soon. Shakur is the best fighter in this division but because of his boring and unmarketable style, the other champions will have more reasons to just duck him.

It's in house money for Top Rank, I think Shakur is going to fight the winner of this fight. Tank will be well protected and I don't think they are ready to let him face either Loma or Shakur this year.

That would be nice to see Loma ( a possible winner ) vs Shakur fight. it's the technical fighter vs a slippery fighter. It's not new to Loma since he had already fought Haney which I believe have a similar style like Shakur but Shakur is much shorter than Haney, so probably that will give Loma an advantage to that. We don't have to worry about the possible revenue of this fight since alhough Shakur is boring, but Loma will make it interesting.

That's another big fight for Loma, and if he'll succeed in this fight and the deal is done, then he is like fighting Haney on that fight. And the good news is if he'll defeat Shakur, he'll be back at the top and Haney if he goes down again might go with a rematch with Loma as sure people are still going to get hype with that, easy for the promoters to market the fight.

Shakur's last fight was last year Nov 11 against Edwin De Los Santos, and he won that fight through unanimous decision. I'm sure that Shakur will be tested if he'll square up with Loma who's a technical fighter, and who knows, he might crack the code on how to defeat opponents like Shakur or Haney.

I’m glad to hear that. The way you trusted bitcoin and risk your funds despite of the possibility that you will only lose them in return. That was brave enough. Now, luck has brought you to where you are now. Instead of panicking and selling earlier when there is price correction, but you chose to hold even longer and show more patience in your investment. I guess patience and understanding come with a great reward in the future.

Not all beginners in bitcoin are able to do that. Your faith in bitcoin was certainly deep, and that’s definitely a good thing in you since you are now eligible to reap massive profits. But hold until bull run comes, that’s definitely the perfect time to sell and be in huge profits.
443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 16, 2024, 02:32:43 PM
I heard rumors about this but it seems like the PBA are not interested with it. Although I believe they already know that the league  is losing popularity, they still keep the current set up of teams, and worst it looks like one farm team is confirm added.
They will loss control if they will allow that. And in most industry, they already have business. If they will open for more teams, maybe other liquor businesses will also join and create their team, that would be competiting on their business. Ginebra and SMB are very popular in the Philippines, they own majority of the market so why would they allow their competitors to be popular?

If the PBA would like a change, they need to replace the higher management as I believe they are working just like a puppet, it's still MVP and SMB who are controlling the league, so they have the final say.  If there's TNT, will they allow globe? I doubt.

If they will think like that they'll go down with the league to the drain. Eventually this league will be outshine by the other league particularly the MPBL because it's more competitive, maybe more investors would help the league to improve as they already have the audience,  and the league is already a pro if I'm not mistaken. There has been a lot of rumors but nothing has came into reality, it's still the same league that people keep criticizing. Despite the criticism, we still watch the game but it's only fun to watch if we see the arena is full and it only happen during Finals. I wish one day we will see this league like the NBA where even during regular season the arena is full because people are supporting it.

If MBPL continue to improve maybe we might see that to happen, popularity wise PBA still have that decent advantage but with how MPBL keeps doing their best to catch up, we never know what will happen next, I like the concept but still needs to improve more, I've heard that MBPL is welcoming more PBA players, we might see lots of interesting games to offer.
They continue to improve actually, being on TV, getting more endorsers is one way to improve their income and they'll be able to pay their players with a competitive salary. It's been active for years, I thinkt there was a league before them with the same set up but didn't success, good thing they created this league and with the help of Manny Pacquiao and his business partners, they will be able to gather funds which is the main weapon to improve a league.

This was in 2019, it was stated that the salary cap was Php50k max, but not lowe than Php15k. if we compare that to the PBA, clearly PBA paid bigger especially if a player is on a popular team. However, that was over 4 years ago, there must be an increase now already. And it was only in 2021 where the league was announce to become pro already.

https://www.spin.ph/basketball/mpbl-vows-strict-implementation-of-p50-000-monthly-salary-cap-for-players-a1373-20190607

Though PBA might open that idea in adding additional teams or maybe they will duplicate the concept of visiting teams, let see if what will be the adjustments that PBA will offer..
This is to see is to believe, it's hard to listen to their promises if they aren't putting an action to this. One example that they look bad is when a team is selling their franchise, like the Alaska Aces.

445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do cryptocurrency increase the standard of living on: February 15, 2024, 07:57:22 PM
It won’t increase your standard of living easily but it takes time with the right process and attitude towards your bitcoin investment. And losing could still be inevitable but if you are patient and knows how to minimize losses and increase the opportunities in winning profits, you will definitely see progressive changes in your life. But I tell you, if bitcoin may increase your standard of living, it can also do the opposite. If you are not wary and prioritize altcoins more than bitcoin, and is not patient with the market’s volatility, you will end up living your life in a mess, losing and regretting.
446  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Lomachenko vs. Kambosos - May 12 IBF Lightweight Title on: February 15, 2024, 03:25:12 PM
Lomachenko is one of my favorite boxers, too bad he started pro too old... If Loma can fight 100% without injury, he can beat Kambosos by UD. Kambosos couldn't handle Haney as well as Loma, and I'd argue Loma was robbed that night. The problem is that Loma is injury-prone, and he is already past his prime. The fact that the match is in Aussy means hometown advantage for Kambosos as well. Anyway, if you look at Stake odds: Loma 1.13 vs Kambosos 5.40, the latter one is more tempting. Moreover, if you pick winning by decision for Kambosos, it will be 8.00... not bad! (DYOR & DWYOR).

That's true, it's because he uses to be on the amateurs for a long time. But when he turn pro, he was given a chance for the belt in his second fight (if I'm not mistaken). And I think that is the record that still stands today.

Yes, not bad, but it's the question whether Kambosos can win in this fight. He is a huge underdog against "Hi-Tech" here. I was just thinking that Loma's age might have caught up with him already. But I think he can still beat Kambosos here and become a world champion. And I remember when they released his training, some new method that time and that's why they called him that monicker because he really shows that in the ring with his head and foot movement that we haven't seen.

I saw his amateur record too, it was very impressive. That's why we can't judge his number of fights in pro and conclude he doesn't have much experience.

Quote
Lomachenko is one of the most successful amateur boxers of all time, possessing a record of 396 wins and 1 loss, with that loss avenged twice.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasiliy_Lomachenko

Also an Olympic Gold medalist, so he is an accomplished fighter. With that reason, it's clear enough that Kambosos has not chance here.

Quote
Following a forced move up to lightweight, he won his second consecutive Olympic gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London to become a rare two-weight Olympic champion.[15] He defeated Han Soon-Chul of South Korea in the final, 19–9, and was a strong candidate to win the Val Barker Trophy for a second time in what would have historically been an unprecedented feat. Ultimately, he was edged out by welterweight gold medal winner, Serik Sapiyev, of Kazakhstan.[16]

Yes, he was literally undefeated at the amateurs and Olympic, he took revenge on that 1 lost he got and then beat Sapiyev twice.

Anyhow, pro might be different for him as he has suffered defeat already, but he has become a world champion already and we think that he can still make it even at his age against Kambosos. Sorry for George Kambosos fans, but it seems that he is just one dimensional fighter.

But he nows how to capitalized when he beat Teo Lopez and still trying to claim his belt back.

It's undeniable that he suffered defeat in his pro but all his defeats are controvertial, particularly the last one. Loma hasn't been dominated on the court, if he loss people does not agree on the result although the judges had scored a "UD" on the winner. It seems like Loma isn't a good market in boxing that's why judges are not on his favor against a popular boxers like Haney and Lopez.

All those are just a speculation of the people, you know, they have their own speculation as they do not agree with the judges when he lose. Maybe if he would be KO then there's nothing to argue, all they can give is respect to the boxer who can KO Loma. Against Kambosos although the Australian has power, but can he make a good strategy to counter Loma effectively? That's a big question most fans of boxing would answer no.

448  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why are people getting scared to Trade on: February 14, 2024, 10:56:21 PM
Times are different to that of years ago. Classes have shifted, the wealthy have gotten wealthier, while lower classes have gotten essentially poorer. The same goes for the middle class. Those who take risks might not be where they were years ago. Some might have succeeded though more would have contributed to the wealth of the Crypto "elite" class which were not as dominant in the past.

In turn, there are now opportunities to rebuild capital from things like airdrops and events. People might be less interested in investing and trading, due to their bad experiences in the past, and more interested in working to try and build their capital...especially if there is a chance of that work growing 2, 5 or 10+ fold in the future.
People will never easily develop some fears in trading if they don’t have past bad experiences on that, or that their friends have lost and ruin their finances because of trading. So instead of jumping into trading, they might feel hesitant and even become less interested to trade since there is high risk of losing, and if you are still not good enough, you will never win in trading. So why do they have to risk losing their funds when they can resort into hodling alone and increase their earnings. But for those who are really passionate to trade, I guess they won’t mind those initial losses until they start to feel that trading is not really their fate.
449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does BTC mean to you? on: February 12, 2024, 04:35:46 PM
Bitcoin means a lot to me. But I couldn't buy them at right time. now it is very expensive. let see in future I would buy some bitcoin and gain financial freedom through it.
If you believe you cannot buy BTC at its price now, what makes you thing you would be able to afford it in the future. The growth of the BTC network is very fast, and with big events happening, like the approval of spot etf's in the U.S. market and the BTC halving, so if history repeats itself, BTC price is going to rise in price and value, which makes it almost impossible for you to buy. Rather than waiting for the future, start buying now through dca strategy with the little you have.
You are right in here. If we trace back its history, bitcoin price increase happens every year so if you see it expensive today, the more it will become expensive in the years to come. I guess there’s no perfect time to buy, because everyday is the right time to buy, so don’t wait for bitcoin price to go at its dip as there’s no guarantee when it will happen again. Instead, buy now even with a small amount of purchase. If you continue to do it with DCA consistently, your small amount of bitcoin will multiply until it reaches a significant amount to give you massive profits when bull run comes.
450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Lomachenko vs. Kambosos - May 12 IBF Lightweight Title on: February 12, 2024, 02:56:12 PM
I might be wrong, but I haven't seen anyone posted the kick off press conference,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpbcltnTnko

Kambosos says it's all about legacy, while Loma is still hunting his dream to be undisputed again. There's no disrespect from Kambosos here, even if Loma telling him that he lost to Haney twice.

So both agree that style makes fight, and so they are contrasting style and hopefully it will be exciting as we fans have been envisioning this. Kambosos aggressive and the Loma, techniques in full display. We can't wait for this.
Kambosos is made for Loma, Loma is good in countering so he will be an easy target and can score easily, Kambosos is a good boxer no doubt but his third loss is looming kambosos is not yet on Loma's level eventhough he beat the man who beat the man.

Both are desperate to be back on top again but like all the rest I see Loma's fighting style way ahead of Kambosos, the poll reflects what will be the outcome of the fight.

Lomachenko by KO    - 8 (66.7%)
Lomachenko by decision    - 4 (33.3%)
Kambosos by KO    - 0 (0%)
Kambosos by decision    - 0 (0%)
Draw    - 0 (0%)

Total Voters: 12

None of the 12 voted for Kambosos to win the game. We can't blame them since Kambosos career was destroyed by Haney. I like him being desperate though as he just want to take the opportunity to go back on top again, he is not afraid to take a challenge despite majority if not all of us here believe he has no chance of beating Loma who is very technical as a fighter.  I'm surprise that 66% believe it will be Loma winning by KO instead of decision, maybe they believ that the style of Kambosos would put him into a big trouble of getting KO.
451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 12, 2024, 02:14:24 PM

Yes, It was a good game plan kicking the ball out and allow your shooters to take the shots, it's tough job for Magnolia to adjust as if they will leave him he can easily make a basket.

It was good because the shots were falling, but if not, SMB will struggle again and loss 3rd straight. Last time, Boatwright had a lot of attempts and his FG percentage was very low, they didn't let it happen this time as he was only limited, he let the locals do the scoring and he just grab some rebounds and defend Bey.

He is still very effective as he finished with 21 points but not forcing shots since he was 6-14.
On the starters of SMB, both Perez and Lassiter struggled with poor shooting, but good thing Cruz, Enciso and Trollana save them.

Like what I mentioned,  I love the way SMB adjusted after suffering a back to back losses with Magnolia they finally find the best way to counter their opponents, especially the import he knows that he got everyone to support him and with the way he show up and bring good defense to a fellow reinforcement  that's being paid after this win.

Cruz got a hot hands and take the player of the game award, and just like what he said , not done yet still game/games to play.

Magnolia is again on a position that put them on a do or die game starting in game 6. And based on statistics, a team that started with 2-0 in the Finals usually wins the series. Therefore, if we follow the trend and bet on SMB in game 6, in case they lose, they might still win game 7. Not sure what will happen in game 6 as Magnolia remained competitive in the game but SMB could not afford to extend this series, they should consider game 6 as the last game so they'll give everything they can.
Both teams are probably thinking it's their last game so they'll everything they can. It's a matter on how hungry a team will want to win in a championship, and Magnolia is hungrier for me as they have less championship wins compared to the SMB. However, it's hard to imagine that JMF will be losing in the Finals, last time I remember they loss is against Ginebra San Miguel who had a very exceptional import of JB, these two imports are good but JB is way better than them.

However, on the business side, it would be nice to have a game 7 since it could be played on Friday or Saturday where people could go to the Arena to watch the game.
I like this idea too. They could give the game 6 to Magnolia and let them play in game 7, may the best team wins.
Anyway, looking at the line, SMB still open at -3.5 favorite, the -1.5 spread is already gone which was the game 1 and game 2 spread.
452  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Isn’t it better late than sorry? on: February 11, 2024, 09:33:14 PM
If you think it’s late, then just put it that way but the fact that you’re willing to start investing now, then definitely you’ll still have the opportunity to make significant profits in the long run. However, I want you to know that as an investor, you should not think if you’re late or not, because bitcoin will always offer various opportunities every now and then, it’s only the people who are doubtful whether to trust bitcoin investment or not. But if you have faith in bitcoin, and you know how big its potentials, then never lost the chance to invest now and benefit in the future.
453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 11, 2024, 01:01:25 PM
Is JMF playing? I just tune in and I didn't see him on the floor, so far, SMB had a good start, and if they will continue this, we might see the same scenario that happened in game 1 and 2. They need to win to be ahead on the series, because if they lose, I feel their confidence will drop as 3 losing streak would destroy a team's confidence. Maybe even if JMF is limited or will not play, I think SMB still are capable of winning since they have a good back up players like Jericho Cruz and Don Trollana who are both great defenders and rebounder as well.
Looks like SMB has been dictating the pace so far. Their is still not scoring much but the ball movement of SMB now is better. Not only Trollana and Cruz who are helping the team but they also have Simon Enciso who only earn a decent minutes tonight and he is hot from beyond the arc. I can see that the SMB are very confident now, they are eager to take the lead in the series.

Good thing that Cruz step up and help the entire team to less than a minute now and the lead is 6 seems that SMB will going to take
this game though still enough time for Magnolia to try pushing the last run.
His 3 point shooting was hot, that's why he is the best player of the game. That was his playoffs best or finals best, he deserve to be given a spot with SMB since he is a complete player not only on offense but on defense as well. According to him now "job's not finish yet"... there's still one to make, hopefully they'll make it in 6.

Again, the 3 point shooting was the key for the team.

Quote
Hmmm.. timeout now, I saw JMF on the bench, probably had played but with limited minutes only.
He is playing and has been contributing, and it doesn't look like he had an injury as he is still playing with the same intensity like in the previous games.
JMF added 18 points and his presence really help SMB to get this game pace to thier advantage. Like you said, seems like he doesn't have that injury "Pagpag lang okay na" in our own language..
He is fine, he probably has took a medicine and some physical theraphy so he can still play as normal. He was huge that game, because he attracted defense, and a kick out outside works wonder for him as their 3 point shots were falling.

455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling? on: February 11, 2024, 10:58:19 AM
If suddenly you went on a binge-gambling out of a lack of self-control or something else. For example, you deposit money in rapid succession after a series of losses and the casino management freezes your account. And when you call their customer support, they tell you that your account has been frozen for 3 weeks and the reason why they carried out that measure was because they suspected that you were gambling irresponsibly and decided to take that measure so that you can call yourself back to order, will you feel furious, cuss out, sign out of your account and register on another casino and continue betting. Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling or betting addiction?
Instead of  questioning this action from the casino site better to be thankful because this is a kind of casino that must be in this place as Online gambling nowadays are becoming more addicted and this measures is something that people must be thankful.

but at least the site will return all your remaining funds and not to be taken from you because if does then this is scam lol.

It's a business, they have to be professional in dealing with their gamblers, they can't just freeze an account because they felt a certain gambler is already addicted, that's not their job, their job is just to accept bets and pay real time, also, they need to ensure that the system is fair so they could keep their clean reputation. Gambling sites nowadays are 90% operated by a system, it doesn't feel anything, it might read the behavior of bets, wins, and losses, but that's it. Going into the personal feelings or life of a gambler is out of the book already.

As a trader, it’s important to develop your own trading skills and strategies because that will serve as the key to take advantage over the market unpredictable state or condition. Have your own reliable market analysis because that will be your guide when to enter and make a trading position or when to avoid trading at all cost.

Trading skills and strategies are the weapons of a trader, without it it’s hard for you to be a successful trader because the success of one’s trading relies mostly on how capable and reliable a trader is.

No one comes hodling for life but buy and hold at a certain time and sell when when the desired price is achieved. Now, talking about the roller coaster emotions when investing in bitcoin, I always think that’s just normal for a very volatile investment like bitcoin. If you are not capable to respond to it accordingly, you will end up at a loss. What’s more important is you never let your emotions do the decision making, but always use your mind and let your knowledge and experience rule over your emotions.
458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 10, 2024, 01:16:41 PM
And the series are now tied. SMB were able to rally in the 3rd quarter but they fall short in the 4th. Huge blow for the SMB as they loss JMF on that game, his ankle might be injured again and his status in game 5 is still uncertain. I hope he will be able to recover in time and the injury is not series as game 5 is a very important game for them, a must win situation to put pressure on the Magnolia Hotshots. It's the 2nd game that Boatwright Jr. has struggled again, this time he score 16 points from 5-16 shooting and his hot 3 point shooting is gone as he only made 1 of his 9 attempts.

Boatwright's is missing shots and with his poor performances the team again loss the game, I also hope that JMF will comeback this coming game 5 hope his injury is not that serious, I guess it's really something that will bring big impact for SMB's rally losing JMF will equal the chances of winning from both teams.

A fair and square competition without JMF, though Magnolia manage to tied the series and in coming game 5 if JMF will be sitting down they have another chance to extend their winning streak.

At this time, it's hard to pull the trigger this early because we are not sure about the status of Fajardo next game. Although SMB needs to win the next game but it still depend on how good their line up is. Missing Fajardo is gonna be huge for SMB as they will be missing a good rebounder and shot blocker, so let's calm down for a bit, wait and see, but hopefully JMF is fine and will play.

No need to rush, the game is not today but tomorrow in the evening. It will be Sunday, I'm sure there are a lot of SMB fans that will watch this game. A quick update on the point spread now, SMB is still slightly favored with -3.5 .The same line they had last game that they loss by 11 points. At the first two games, I thought the series would be over in 4 or max 5, but things have changed now, the momentum has shifted to the Magnolia Hotshots, and winning next game could put the SMB on a tough situation. We might still see Fajardo but he might not be 100%.

According to reports, there's a chance that Junmar will be sidelined tomorrow which is the Game 5 of the PBA Finals. If Junmar will not play, it is a great opportunity for the Magnolia to take the Game 5 and secure a 3-2 lead against the San Miguel.

Fajardo's absence may cause a big impact on the San Miguel and this may change the trajectory of the series. Magnolia should capitalize on this game as they are looking forward for that 3rd win.

Magnolia should continue the using the formula they used on winning the last two games. If magnolia manage to win this game, this will take some pressure out of them as they are ahead of one game.
Base on the update posted by Bisdak, it says Fajardo will ensure he will play in game 5.

This was according to the news.

Quote
Fajardo said he'll have his left calf checked a day before Game 5, but assured he's ready to suit up as the Beermen try to avoid losing a third straight game in the title series.

"Oo makakalaro ako," he emphatically said.

On the other hand, if San Miguel manage to win this one without JMF. It will give Junmar enough rest to finish it at game 7.

Not having JMF doesn't mean they will lose. If we have seen the last game, JMF set but SMB had a rally to make it a close game. When JMF came back, that's when the Magnolia start their own run.

The Hornets are getting beat down as bad as anyone I can remember right now. Down by over 40 in the 4th and they haven’t broke 70 points yet. Good news for the Bucks I guess. Maybe that trade for Pat Bev gave them the fire they needed to start performing as expected. Huge mismatch anyway though.
That's not a real test for them, Hornets has been struggling and on a losing streak, so it's a mismatch and that didn't prove anything that they already figure out how to beat strong teams. Real test will be vs Denver on their next game, I'm fading them that time.

Edit: You know the game went badly when Thanasis gets a highlight: https://x.com/bleacherreport/status/1756154260767539315

Yeah, he's good in garbage time.. and he know there are garbage players on the team. (not talking to himself-according to him)

Haha, Thanasis showing off his game.
Too bad he can only highlight it when they are up big in the 4th. Still is shows he has confidence even though everybody always laughs at him. Gotta give it to him for that.
That shot was worth a million, he is paid to entertain the crowd during garbage time. I hope the Bucks will have more situations like that where they dominated their opponents so Thanasis will get some minutes. I had fun honestly.  Grin

I wonder how Beverly will squash his beef history with Dame. They had a bad relationship in the past, now that they are team makes maybe they will be best buddies.  Grin

I hope they'll stay professional, especially Dame because he is the star player of the team with Giannis, he needs to have a good bond with his teammates including Pat Bev. Well, there was this kind of situation before, that was Kobe and Artest, they hate each other but when Artest join the Lakers, they both won a championship, maybe it will happen with the Bucks, and Pat Bev will truly celebrate becoming a champ not winning a playoff series and feel like had won a championship.
