441  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What are the main Bitcoin scams and how do you protect yourself against them? on: June 11, 2017, 07:13:55 PM
The very way easiest way to keep away from scam is not to get greedy and not too impatient. When you want to buy or sell abs someone is offering to buy from you at an unnecessary premium or in the case of wanting to buy someone is willing to sell at a discount and still making overtures to ensure you do it fast, there is likelihood it will end up in scam and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Other scams can be avoided by being extra careful.
442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shit just got real on: June 11, 2017, 02:30:33 PM
According to http://www.flippening.watch/ , ethereum surpassed bitcoin in volume, mining reward ( aka most secure chain by hashrate ) and nodes, having 4 times more. To be noted that even though ethereum has 92% of bitcoin's transactions, technically it has MUCH more because tokens that work on it aren't taken into consideration.

Which means, today, ethereum surpassed bitcoin by any metric, except for the market cap. Some of you listened to trolls and thought ethereum is a scam, some of you saw past that.
What happened to ETH would have one time or the other happened to various projects that are successful today including bitcoin itself but the issue is that whether we like it or not some people will still believe while some will not. There is no need to pick offense while others are counting their losses, some others will be counting their gain. However, the market capitalization is enough for bitcoin to be at the fore front which is something it will take a while before ETH meet up with.
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DCORP Crowdsale - Democratizing Venture Capitalism on: June 11, 2017, 07:15:11 AM
Am i right in saying that the coins are to be tradeable in october only and not before
DCORP may be in the market that time but if you want to trade earlier you can always sell your DRP to interested investors who wants it. Open a buy and sell thread or something. I wouldn't do that do. I'll wait it to be in a market and wait for it's value to rise which I know it will.

I guess that is the best way to go about it both the seller and the buyer because its when is on the exchange that one determines the real value at the time and not just a guessed value based on intuition or allegiance based on the amount of trust one plaved in the project in determining the price of the coin. For me, I would rather also wait when it hits exchange site to know whether to sell or hold as the case maybe.
444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can It Really Happen? on: June 11, 2017, 06:50:00 AM
I don't believe Satoshi will want to do that in because releasing such amount of bitcoin into the market at once might the push the price down to an extent that it might be hard to recover from, it might recover but I see it happening very long and it will really give credence to the bubble projectors that its finally happening and the burst has finally come to play. But at the same time is the current market enough to absorb that amount of bitcoin without any shaking?
445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the bitcoin function for you? on: June 11, 2017, 06:21:53 AM
I feel only few people would use bitcoin to get things these days without converting into fiat with the exception of activities on the forum and the reason is quite simple due to the fact that only few stores accept bitcoin and it becomes more expensive to use bitcoin due to waiting period and high transaction fees so basically I change bitcoin to fiat in times of need then use it to meet my needs keep the rest for another rainy day.
446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is still faster than Paypal. on: June 10, 2017, 07:30:53 PM
Over the duration of the week, I sold something, and initiated the transfer to my bank from paypal.

It said "ETA 1 Business Day"" And here we are on day 3.

So I guess, even with the consistently congested block-chain, Bitcoin beats Paypal all day.

Any TX with a proper fee will be "Fully cleared" within an hour or two.

At least you can view your transactions progress with a block explorer with BTC.

Fuck you paypal gimmie my money.

I will have to disagree with you on that. If PayPal will be delaying your money up to three days, I am sure there will be enough valid rewsonf for that to happen and if it eventually happened I am not sure how posting on the thread will make that any faster rather than contacting support in understanding the reason why such is happening in the first place but same cannot be done in the case of bitcoin even if its to a wrong address.
447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scary tweet I've just read! on: June 10, 2017, 05:20:01 PM
After seeing the tweet and perusing those addresses I concluded its just a waste of time continue to create panic in the crypto world so I won't add to it by retweeting. I feel he is one of those that are against the continued progression of bitcoin and thought its better he add to the quest and mission of bringing it down.
448  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think billionaires invest in BTC? on: June 10, 2017, 02:16:56 PM
There is no way Billionaires will not be interested in something like this even if their wall street advisers is thinking the other way round, I am sure they will always find a way to make it a possibility because in true sense the billionaires are the ones that will make the shift that is needed and push the hands of government the reason for that is because they are the owners of conglomerates that employ thousand on people and they have the hears of people in power and policy makers.
449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs altcoins, will they survive? on: June 09, 2017, 05:58:22 PM
I wonder what the general view is on this. It is obvious that having altcoins in the short term can be extremely profitable with amazing % increases. But it is probably not sustainable over the long term. Or can you actually put your money in altcoins and just let them sit there for the long term, like with Bitcoin and Etherium etc? Or should you always gradually move your short term profits from altcoins over to Bitcoin or Etherium to save for the very long term?

What are the views on the survival of the alctcoins? Say in the current top 50 list. Do you think they will still be prospering in 1-5-10 years? (granted of course that the whole marked would not crash completely a long with Bitcoin etc)

And by prospering I don't necessary mean they will be in the top 50. But at least that they will be worth more than they currently are.

In the case of bitcoin, there is no doubt that it has stayed long-term the sane with ETH however, when a coin will stay that long, there is always some unique characteristics that it will display which will give it that push to the long-term. I agree that not all alt will fall into this category as quick look into the alt section is enough proof of that. For me, I take into consideration the prospect as well as the team and the various review that we see here before deciding which one to hold long-term.
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: ALERT - freewallet.org scam !!!!!!! on: June 09, 2017, 04:06:03 PM
Alert - freewallet.org scam!!!!. For about a year or so have kept 1 xmr on freewallet.org Android wallet. I can not take it out. I have to assume they have spent the customers coins. Just another group of thief's is exposed when price goes up. History repeats itself. Stay away from freewallet you will get your coins stolen

Although I have not used the services of this site before, as I only restrict my use to only those site who's reputation mattered to them and they have successfully built over the years only for it to go down the drain. But the issue is have you tried contacting them, the response the gave will go a long way in proving they are truly scammers and why do you have to wait for a year before coming out.
451  Economy / Speculation / Re: what will bitcoin be worth in 5 years {2020} ? on: June 07, 2017, 01:02:50 PM
I think Bitcoin price in 2020 will be at least $5k .  One of the factor that Bitcoin would be at least that price, is the scheduled halving.  Aside from that possibly more country will adopt bitcoins and the scaling issue wont be an issue anymore.  There will be more bigger company involved in Bitcoin by that time since they got a sample from countries like Japan and Australia.

You cannot say for sure that the price of bitcoin would reach $5000 in 2020 and just focusing on only factors that would make that possible without considering the fact that there are several factors that could make that impossible to achieve starting from the intervention from government and the various transaction issues in the way of bitcoin as well as increasing transaction costs.
452  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is winning at Sports betting actually possible ? on: June 07, 2017, 07:00:15 AM
Of all the forms of gambling out there, I can say categorically the one with the easiests win for me is sport gambling. This I have done for several times in a row with minimal losses and the reason is because I don't get greedy and place bets on games I know nothing about but only games I am sure of who the winner is going to be. With this, I streamlined my choices then wait for the next 90 minutes.
453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: what is the fairest bitcoin betting game you know? on: June 06, 2017, 08:33:37 PM
Since we are comparing games because all of them are not fair because there is none but in the midst of worse choices, a bad one becomes the best choice and for that reason will I go for sport betting because in that the winning is not determined by whether the site wants it or not, its determined by the players in the sight of over millions of people watching how things will unfold at the same time. So, to me, its the closest to being fair.
454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you For or Against "Government" Regulation of Bitcoin. on: June 06, 2017, 06:54:10 PM
I noticed many pro government Regulation of Bitcoin popping up everywhere thesedays it makes me wonder whether fellow Bitcoiners are in support of these people or more focused on accumulating more Bitcoin & Altcoin.
Would Satochi be in Support of Regulation? Are you in support or against?

Considering the pros and cons of government regulations which I am sure government have even failed in to protect fraud even with cash or bank that they have considerable control over how am I sure they won't even live below expectation if they have control over bitcoin. Aside that, the consideration for government regulations is due to fraud which can be avoided to a large extent if one can exercise special care In being more careful.
455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: International Money Transfer on: June 06, 2017, 06:07:56 PM
Is bitcoin cheaper than other options for international money transfer? I have seen many agree with it and many dispute it, but not with hard numbers.

As other options are expressed in terms of a percentage (eg, 4% fees), this needs to be the comparison for bitcoin, at various amounts of money, despite that bitcoin transaction fees are apparently unrelated to the amount being sent. Let's also say for the sake of argument that a transfer within 24 hours is acceptable.

The numbers will really not be something to just take and from there decide which one is a better alternative because aside the the quantitative factors alone which in this case is considering the fee alone. But other qualitative factors such as the convenience of staying in the comfort of my room at any time of the day or night to make transfer to any place in the world.
456  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 1BTC Casascius bitcoin sells for $7100 on: June 06, 2017, 05:55:13 PM
http://bitcoinwhoswho.com/blog/2017/06/06/1btc-casascius-bitcoin-sells-for-usd7100/

A mint 2011 series 1 Casascius physical bitcoin sold for USD $7,100 on eBay yesterday.

First series Casascius coins are highly sought after by collectors.

During the last bitcoin price spike in 2013 (to $1250) many changed hands on eBay for about ~USD$3,000.

Yesterday's transaction represents a ~250% premium over current prices.

I believe its because the type of metal is a valuable one which makes it much more valuable than its face value which I dont have any issue against in which the same thing would go for if some one could have a raw gold 1btc. For me personally I dont see any prudency in buying such commodity as the case maybe where I would pay more than enough for the face value.
457  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: where it easier to win bitsler or pocket dice ? on: June 06, 2017, 03:16:55 PM
Anyone easier than the other, the two sites are some of the best we have out there considering the fact that they had been here for a while and they have proved themselves to be worthy. What it means is that playing the same game, its just an equal chance of winning so far the house edge remains the same irrespective of whoever is playing.
458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you decide on lottery/keno /bingo numbers? on: June 06, 2017, 02:45:12 PM
Of all the forms of gambling that we have around the one I just don't and will never try is the lottery system because I just don't trust the lottery system even the ones that they display the choosing of numbers on live television because I am sure that the software they use in determining the numbers is always manipulated and the number of people that have been playing all this while have never won only to make money for the promoters.
459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the cheapest place to buy eth? on: June 06, 2017, 01:13:40 PM
What is the cheapest place to buy eth?

thanks
Almir

Theirs no place where you can buy cheap eth since all exchanger site have similar price on their trades but if you want you can go on those exchange like bittrex and wait for the dump so that you can buy some cheap eth if that scenario will be happen.

That's exactly what I wanted to advise him if at all he is serious with it and not trolling as someone tlhas rightly noted. Looking for cheap place for a coin like ETH is going to be really difficult and if you happen to see one lower than the rest, it will just be marginal and also be care not to be deceived by anyone going far below the general price level as this is equally a red flag of a potential scam without looking back.
460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are there people here from 2013 who are not millionaires now? on: June 06, 2017, 12:34:47 PM
Who is here from 2013 who is not a USD millionaire at least on paper?

I bet noone here from 2011 is not a millionaire.

If so what were your big mistakes that prevented this from being the case?

** edit

don't take from this post that I myself claim to have attained that millionaire status .... but then my early trading was an example of how not to trade. Im guessing the majority has done far better.

let us not let this thread turn into a sour grapes situation....but it is nice to know many average everyday people have now made life changing amounts of fiat due to crypto. I feel millionaire status is within grasp of so many that are here even recently.

let them enjoy their success and inspire us all..
If they made it by buying fairly on the market or mining fairly then it is great to know that so many have done so well.

It will be hard to see someone who has a stack of bitcoin in 2011 and still have same till today. Only a few can hold their faith that high without losing it and that's why its going to be hard getting someone who haven't either sold everything he got then orarge percentage of whatever he might have gotten then. When we compare the price as at then and now, we just jump into the conclusion that owners then would have been super rich without considering the fact that several challenges have happened along the way to get to the point where we are and only a strong heart will still hold not knowing what will happen later.
