441  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / up down...up down... on: June 17, 2013, 11:52:09 PM
Hey Doc! What gives? I've been hashing at ~ 10 gig and hardly made a dime today. I've even run out of work and sat idle several times. Are you under attack? Upgrading the servers? Etc? I gotta earn...

Thanks for the quick response doc. Good to know launching minimized is the fast mode. Now if my miners need to reboot they'll automatically start running BitMinter.

Can't wait to see what those new features you're working on.
Cheers, Aurum

Hi Doc,
I Love BitMinter. I finally figured out how to make BitMinter launch on bootup.
1. Is launching minimized the same as "Performance Mode?"
2. I wish I could change my account name and the name of a worker. Now I add a new worker to get a new name. How long should I leave the old worker in purgatory before deleting it so I don't loose any shares???
3. I have BFL miners plugged into GPU miners. I sure wish I could put BFL miners on BitCoin mining and assign GPUs to LiteCoin mining.
4. The Tune 'n Tweak settings I've settled on are:
  • Work group size : 256
  • Work intervals (ms) 77
  • Manual vectors = unchecked
  • Use BFI_INT if available = checked
  • Buffer type: Use default
Penny for thoughts on better settings.
Skol, Aurum

REALASICMINER is gone Sad

Should we mourn his passing?

Bingo!!! I saved the bitminter_jnlp and changed the underscore to a dot and doubleclicked it and it ran and executed.
446  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter_jnlp ??? on: April 23, 2013, 03:11:56 PM
I disabled my antivirus program and clicked the "Engine Start" button. Then I get a popup that says:
"Do you want to open or save bitminter_jnlp (2.98 KB) from bitminter.com?"
If I click Open nothing happens. If I select Save and Open I get a popup window asking me which program to use to open it with.
Didn't the program used to be called bitminter.jnlp, dot not underscore jnlp???

Java said to uninstall obsolete version 6. I only have 7.021 and now it cannot recognize .jnlp:

Java did an upgrade (Version 7 Update 21) and now Bitminter Client will not launch.
450  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Namecoin wallet? on: April 21, 2013, 06:22:51 PM
I have a Bitcoin wallet and a Litecoin wallet but I cannot find a Namecoin wallet. When I read the descriptions I googled I cannot figure out what to do with them. Where do I store them?
451  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / eBay - caveat emptor on: April 13, 2013, 04:15:55 PM
It's amazing how many people are buying miners from Butterfly Labs and turning around and selling their order on eBay the next day.
The prices people are paying for Avalons is insane. Yesterday one went for $50,000:

Here's an Avalon that's bid up to $30,000 today:

452  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: NVIDIA GeForce 7500 LE not recognized by Bitminter on: April 11, 2013, 08:16:06 PM
Hi, I have one PC with a GeForce GT 400 and Bitminter loaded and ran fine recognizing my cpu and gpu. But, I have another PC with a GeForce 7500 LE and Bitminter does not recognize it. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling from the NVIDIA website to no avail. I'd appreciate it if anyone knows how to make my gpu work? tia

I could be wrong, but I think geforce 8000 series is the oldest with OpenCL support. And 8000 series runs extremely slow.

NVIDIA says they support OpenCL, e.g. http://www.gpu-tech.org/content.php/162-Nvidia-supports-OpenCL-1-1-with-Geforce-280-19-Beta-performance-suffers
According to that article they started with driver 280.19 and now they're on 307.83

(Note: Yes I know NVIDIA is slow. I just want to make sure I can run while I await delivery of my ASICs.)
