4401  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Where can I buy a hardware wallet? on: September 08, 2020, 09:41:32 PM
Someone told me that it’s best to buy a hardware wallet directly from a manufacturer to avoid getting a tampered product. Is that always true?

99.9% yes. They care for their reputation and they are in business for long so you will have an assurance that the product you will receive is genuine and untouched.

And if ever the 0.01% struck you although the odds are low, you can report it directly to the manufacturer for a heads-up.

How risky can buying from a reseller be?

I'm not saying that buying from resellers is totally risky but if for delivery time issues (I think that's the only difference between direct against resellers), don't mind it and instead head to the official store.

Have seen some issues about buying from resellers in some of our local crypto groups before so better be safe. And in some cases, resellers don't mind you after they make a sell. If you have any problem, you will be left alone.
4402  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Another exchange lost about $5 million from its Hot-Wallet. on: September 08, 2020, 09:08:46 PM

In a situation like that, I can't think of a way how it happened unless there's an inside job. So unfortunate.

A $5 Million loss can't really shake the market that hard literally*** but it will create a sort of negative thoughts about crypto as a whole.

Hopefully, it will not affect the whole operation of the site. I can't imagine the feeling of those who have active funds here then you can't logged to check your account and do something about your funds. They say "We will resume the operations shortly" - for how long that "shortly" is, no one knows.
4403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust Active telegram Groups? on: September 08, 2020, 08:24:44 PM
Hi all , I'm a newbie in bitcointalk but not in Crypto field. I have about 6 Years of experience about this field.

As an Investor , Still i have a doubt with some active telegram groups. I have analysed so many projects and Most successful projects had an Active telegram Group.

6 years of experience in the crypto-field and as a regular investor, you should already know that having an active Telegram group is not the assurance that a certain project will be successful in the future.

It's good that the project owners always keep in touch with the community, answering questions and concerns, providing regular updates, future plans, etc. but the success of it relies on how far the community will support them on their progress.

I'm still a member of some projects that held ICO during 2018 and 2019 and their groups are still active today. Devs are active, there are "real" discussions, no sh*t or something, etc. However, it seems they still need more time before they can make a big fuel to boost their market price.

As for XFinance, do some DYOR about the project. Don't depend on how large their Telegram group is.
4404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: VPN for cryptocurrencies? on: September 08, 2020, 08:00:17 PM
Correct. At least VPN service can be considered  as  extra protection against $5-wrench attack. You don’t have to listen to those who say VPN is useless and doesn't make any help.  It do helps,  and you will better off with VPN than without it provided that you disallowed TCP/IP fingerprinting via WebRTC, javascript, etc.  VPN service is the first privacy stronghold that ( in addition) adds to security.

However, OP I think just makes it more complicated. OP's concern isn't really about VPN but the risks of storing funds in exchange or something along those lines. No need for this VPN thing if he cares about security and exchanges are freely accessible in their country. In other words, why make an exchange as a wallet if there's another way "more safe and secure".

Set extra layers of security by activating 2FA, storing the password safely, keeping safe the associated email and number to the account, etc.

Using a VPN is useful, no doubt about that but in terms of using it to access exchanges or trading platforms for the "safe" concern, it's not necessary as I mentioned, if we can access it freely in our location using our own ISPs.
4405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: History will be repeating itself, invest wisely. on: September 08, 2020, 03:59:16 PM

For experienced ones, the recent DeFi hypes should be manageable but the thing here is, people don't stop risking that's why if there's a chance, they will grab it. Others succeed in riding the wave but unfortunately, not all have the same result.

For beginners or new players in crypto, I don't want to blame them for their losses or riding the train late since that experience served them as a lesson. Surely, they will now know how to play with the risks once they are in the same situation again.

Hype will be here forever. This is a part of any investment be it on crypto or not. DYOR sometimes didn't work, as no doubt, there are projects that unpredictable. So the key here is the right execution of strategy without the involvement of emotions. A hard task to apply though so it's a challenge.
4406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for salary on: September 08, 2020, 03:22:01 PM
Like these days, some of our salary are paid in different method, some are being deposit on some bank accounts, some are cheque, some are cash directly.

Average employees want instant access to their money the moment they received it as salary so that they can go directly to any payment processors or ATM to encash it. If ever it will be as Bitcoin payment then they want to use it right away, there's no difference at all to the way they received it on usual fiat.

And on the country wherein there's no local exchanger that can process the withdrawal into cash instantly, it will be a problem.

Is this method is not foul on the government? Or it is legal?

It will be legal as long as the company will declare it to the Labor Department or any Government Bureaus that covered it.

It's not foul since, after all, companies will still pay the associated tax.

The bottom line, the whole idea is good but the world is not yet ready. Lots of factors to be considered. It will be several years in the making.
4407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Downloading into not safe website. on: September 08, 2020, 02:04:06 PM

I'm not saying APKPURE is 100% safe but I will consider them as a legit site at least from my own experience using them back when I'm still an Android enthusiast until now. It's a big help for me as an application contributor to one of the local forums before.

The site is used for downloading the .apk version of those Playstore applications. Back then, there are only a few ways to transfer Android games to other devices (those who don't want to use Playstore) that's why .apk file is needed for sending or attaching (uploading to a sharing file site).

And I think Huawei users don't have access now to Playstore*** so they need the .apk file of their preferred apps.

Obviously, for crypto-related wallets or anything that money is involved, it's always a must to download it from the original source. Always head to the main website for official download links or directory.
4408  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coinpal.eu SCAM!!! on: September 08, 2020, 12:40:32 AM
Guys stay away from coinpal.eu.
I have transferred a large amount and have only received a loading screen for some days, but no money. Emails are not answered. It´s a pure scam site.
Are there anywhere more informations about the site or the site owner

Seeing lots of negative reviews about the site, I don't understand that despite all of those accusations, you still used the site. Huh

Dealing in a large and decent amount, it's always a common approach to research deeply about the service and how's the reputation of a specific site. If you used them before, I can't blame you if you used their service again but if this is the first time, why you end up using their service.

No choice but to continue bumping them with emails and hope for luck. There is even no information provided in their contact section.
4409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Casimero vs Micah - Sept 26 on: September 07, 2020, 11:59:22 PM
Damn that Bob Arum for manipulating the event that led to a cancellation of the fight. Its really disappointing for the two fighters not facing off this year, especially at their prime. It would be a waste of two best boxer's not being able to compete against each other.

I don't see some manipulation. Even both parties are not bitter that the fight won't happen.

And besides, there's a lot of chances that the two will still face off despite changing opponents.

Casimero is still on Inoue's list. I'm not sure though on another hand if Inoue is still on Casimero's list as he has another target if ever he will win on his upcoming match.
4410  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin prediction by 2021 on: September 07, 2020, 11:48:12 PM
Do you think that bitcoin will reach 50K by 2021? I find it similar to 2016 where we had ICO's, now we just had DeFi *scam*
A friend of mine told me that bitcoin will get low these upcoming months, what do you think? given the recent Bart pattern i see a lot of manipulation and it isn't a good sign really...

Stay and focus on "realistic price" and just continue your usual accumulation of BTC.

Be it happened or not, at least you will take the advantage and benefits.

No one knows what will happen even for let's say, we just have to share our thoughts if $50,000 is possible by 2021. All I can say is, everything is possible but I tend not to expect much. Chart patterns, speculations, predictions with good analysis are just for reference for making our next strategy. It's not to tell you the accurate thing that will happen.
4411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Got an idea for crypto skill game. What are next steps? on: September 07, 2020, 11:35:49 PM
I got an idea for a fun crypto skill game and have zero coding skill. Is there any place I can pitch this? Any game discussion groups with potential developers or a place where devs are looking for an interesting game project? What are possible next steps?

It's a high risk skill game and could be considered "gambling."

There are lots of ideas. But it's necessary that on your part, it's not just an idea but you know actually how it can be done.

Try to find some people around you. Maybe there's a person or group in your local community that might have an idea about coding.

And as suggested above, try to lurk at the Project Development section of the forum. But take note, I'm sure no one will message you about that so give them reason to reach you instead by describing everything about your concept and idea. No need to detail all the private Infos, just try to think of a way how can you catch other's attention.
4412  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Too much HODLing stealing opportunities? on: September 07, 2020, 11:20:03 PM

In most cases, even the price target has already reached when to sold, there's a hesitation if they will execute their sell mode now since they are anticipating that price will still increase more due to a strong and positive upward trend. There's always a quote saying, "why should I sell when the price is increasing".

And let's say, the other way around happened, which is the price went down instead, there's still in their mindset that it's just a usual correction and when settled, price will have some boost later.

Taking from your example, that kind of mindset affects their decision so instead of doing something, they just watch instead what happened from $15,000 to $3,000.
4413  Economy / Economics / Re: In COVID-19 everyone needs motivation on: September 07, 2020, 10:48:19 PM
But in this condition, we should just look forward and think about of next-generation future.

Isn't it an obvious thing to do to just move forward even how bad or worst the situation is even with the pandemic or not?

We have no other choice but to take the situation as one of the biggest challenges we experienced in our life. The pandemic shouldn't be the reason for our world to stop.

Think outside the box or much better if we will remove totally the box on what things should be done in order to cope up with the situation.
4414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What area of bitcoin participation is easiest to work with? on: September 06, 2020, 11:20:32 PM
...but I have never seen anyone around me being involved in mining, I learnt mining is more risky and cannot just be done alone, and if you even attempt it probably with your android, you may end up wasting your time and not even making it as the traders and hunters. It tend to take a massive effort to be successful in mining, you need good electricity, good mining wallet, computer with good capacity, and some other gadgets. Considering all this, which of all the participation do you see as least demanding and easiest?

Because mining today is only for those who have a strong dedication to established a good mining setup despite difficulties and challenges and willing to spend a decent amount of money only on that big purpose.

As for crypto-related works, it's really tough to look for it nowadays. But to acquire bitcoin, it doesn't limit you to just work and be paid in crypto as you can also buy it thru your precious fiat.

Do you have a day job? Focus on saving money out from your source of income then used some of it to purchase bitcoin then from there, up to you if you will just hodl it or deal it with trades. Slowly but surely, you will able to have good numbers of BTC in the process.
4415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All Top 10 DeFi Tokens on coinmarketcap in Loss on: September 05, 2020, 11:40:20 PM
Gonna say it will take time before the DeFi hype will come back again.

Even experienced ones got blinded by these hypes and do the hodl to death mindset even seeing the price is continuously decreasing right before their eyes.

Well, the good thing here is, people who don't experience yet how to deal with this hype now actually feel the pressure of riding the big wave. Should act as a good reference in making their future strategy.
4416  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are scammers everywhere, it is obvious online on: September 05, 2020, 11:18:46 PM
A usual newbie approach. Being easily blinded by that kind of offer.

Where's the problem? The scammers? The people? A scam is already considered as part of the scheme even before Bitcoin's inception. Even way back old days.

I don't take that lack of regulation as a reason for these scams. Even with regulation, this kind of trick was easily being pulled out, and unfortunately, not just newbies, but even experienced ones also fall on the trap.

The sad truth is, people who are already aware of this scheme are taking chances. I don't know the reason but there's a thing in their mind telling them to test that obvious scam thinking they will get an advantage in the early phase.

As for OP's friend, good thing they don't throw away money at what the program is telling them. Use our common sense as much as possible.
4417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Is Really Happening To The Market? on: September 05, 2020, 10:38:58 PM
Crypto is getting harder to predict now, in August we saw a very good pump and many of us must have thought that a bull run was coming soon but when it entered September the market suddenly bled, will we see bitcoin under $5k again until the end of the year?

Crypto is unpredictable since the beginning.

In most of the cases, when bitcoin pump, a much continuous price will be followed is on the mindset of the majority. How many times bitcoin act like that? No questions needed honestly.

And exactly 1 month ago, bitcoin price was sitting at around $11,700+ and playing at the bottom within the range of $11,300+ to $11,400. And as of typing this post, bitcoin price was around $10,100+. I don't see how it was considered as "the market is now bleeding". The recent price decrease is nothing when you compare the price starting at the beginning of this year.
4418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are you going to buy into these high rising defi coins now? on: September 01, 2020, 11:54:24 PM
The last month I had another project and wasn't watching the space and it's only today I had time to really focus on it.  I figured I would buy into these high rising projects a little today even though chances are they are at their ATH.  Are you going to buy into these high rising defi coins now, such as UMA, Kusama, DIA, Ampleforth, Ren, Reserve Rights, and others?    Which ones do you think will go higher?

On whatever coins, it's risky to ride the wave during the strong peak, especially for average traders.

But for let's say, I will put myself into the situation wherein I like to get involved at these high rising Defi tokens, I will wait first for a big correction even it will cost me a regrets if ever that won't happen and the price will continue to rise.

I'd rather being like that or late instead of buying at peak on a coin wherein the rise is a product of hype.
4419  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Virtual Miner: Another scam offer from Yobit. on: September 01, 2020, 11:32:58 PM

Also received the same email too and as my usual approach to some Yobit's email, I just give it a good read then ignored it.

But checking messages at the trollbox, looks like some already invested in the scheme.

I hope these people will have a good run. Undecided
4420  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto.com investment app is it a good deal? on: September 01, 2020, 11:14:10 PM

The company is legit* but are you willing to store your funds here for the long-term without an assurance of how things will go far?

I can't find the terms about their Earning Features so maybe I assume it's only visible when you logged on or using the app? Read it properly especially the terms for interest, period, withdrawals, etc.

You can test the waters but I suggest getting involved in their community group if any. Try to lurk at their Telegram and check the people's pulse there about the investment part.
