4401  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [12th Sept] on: October 08, 2014, 03:15:14 PM
Well just an FYI for doggie...to watch KNC ....they are shipping out Titan's that plain ass don't work at their advertised rate300mh er by that I mean don't work at all
reboot every 3-4 min...they CLAIM they have a fix but you can not tell such from the knc forums on bitcoin talk and their site a real mess

so for 3 weeks guys have gotten units with no way to run them....and of course no refund or compensation....and of course the 90 warranty you have
from KNC starts the day they ship it..so for some guys 3 weeks of it sitting off cuts into that as well

they also can't work on multi-pool and the author of bfgminer has not been contacted on these issues in that multi-pool is
likely that..they just went with bfgminer and did their own thing....fast coins on blocks also don't work causes a real mess as well

anyway....shipping products that have to be shut off till a firmware patch is made etc and such is probably a no/no for the listing
here...claim we are a business and DIY stuff is perfectly acceptable in that it is experimental scyrpt miner etc sheesh

anyway have not gotten my NO ROI Titan yet...but don't look too good if they are not even contacting the author for advice
on bfgminer just doing their own thing

they no longer sell any product to consumers on their page they are all arctic cloud mining now...i expect a BFL epic f*c* over

anyway just saying

Agreed.

I'm also getting ssh attacks. pool are changing information
How do I change the ssh port

I'm sorry I don't know, ckolivas might though.

I have antminer s2.I run this antminer at a datacenter.Although i have changed my web and shh datas, somebody is changing my pool datas. What can i do ??

What do you mean by pools data? Do you mean someone is changing the miner details in the miner configuration page?

3) Dogie's guide depends on Friedcat replying.
1) Technical support (at least from me) depends on Friedcat replying.

Looks like he took a long rest so his emails will come soon.

Please do a setup guide for the Prisma 1.4Th/s miner. Thank You.

Need Prisma first X_X Think friedcat is on holiday?
4406  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S4 Setup [HD] on: October 07, 2014, 08:35:47 PM
Thanks for the setup guide Dogie, really do appreciate what you do Grin

Will you be going into any detail on the 'Miner Advanced Configuration' settings, the bit with the frequency and voltage. If its safe to mess around with it, and what it does?

Thanks again.

Not at the moment, no. Its for over/underclocking and at the moment there is only room for one frequency step up before the PSU is the limiting factor. You also need a small voltage bump up to maintain that speed.
4407  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S4 Setup [HD] on: October 07, 2014, 08:32:52 PM
Hi Dogie - As usual another excellent guide  Grin

I discovered your guides whilst setting my my S3's which I now have 30.

Just started with my first S4 - All went 100% smoothly.

Thanks Again for such a great resource that does what it says on the Tin!

Cheers.

New user, registered today, one post - this one.

Oh dear - it is a very sad day when bitmain/dogie have resort to using fake accounts in a pathetic effort to make this piece of junk look good.....

Copy/pasting guides is bad enough bitmain/dogie, but this is really scraping the bottom of the barrel...... Roll Eyes

Post in scam accusations, request admins compare some IPs. I think you'll also find that most of Bitmain doesn't have english that good, and that they sell 10,000s of units - most of which go to users who are NOT on the forums. I have one account, this one.
4408  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S4 Setup [HD] on: October 07, 2014, 08:29:30 PM

There are a lot of issues with this guide you should probably double check it.

Don't quote my entire guide please, delete your post. Feel free to post the abundant issues though.

Most of this is a copy paste of the S3 guide, where do I start....there is so many things wrong with it. You even posted "Using a browser, navigate to 192.168.1.99 - this goes to the S3's configuration page.", half of the things under the troubleshooting section are wrong as well.

Maybe because two miners using exactly the same architecture will have a very similar setup? So far you've found one character wrong, anything else? Still not sure why you're coming into this so aggressively... would you rather there be no resource at all or would you rather make your own thread?

Actually the S4 is is many ways much more similar to the S2 because of the beagleboard. Guess ill list off some stuff since you don't even see it. I have more a problem with there being wrong information than merely incomplete information. I see you fixed SSH username/password one but there are still others.
Problems:
Bitmain firmware updates are no longer released on their github, they are now on the bitmaintech.com support section, the github was last updated on April 13th as you can see.
Upgrading the firmware can help with x's over chips as well, x's don't necessarily mean its dead on S4 due to issues with the first firmware release.
The difficulty issue affects pools that start on a diff of 1 and then slowly ramp up, if the pool starts on a diff of 1 and ramps up in a few seconds there is not an issue, variable difficulty itself is not the issue, ramping up from low difficulty is.
A single faulty chip should not affect it by ~3%, it should be under 1% since there are 160 chips on a S4.

None of what you've described is any excuse for your attitude whatsoever. Fixed 1 link and 1 number.
4409  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive AMT 1.25TH Setup [HD] on: October 07, 2014, 08:23:23 PM
As always excellent review. I will note the same as MrPark. The company should be avoided. Their hardware is deceptively advertised at rates higher than the hardware actually goes. The webUI reports inaccurately 1.27 all the time regardless of the pool rate despite the other numbers being refreshed. Leads me to think its a false hashrate. I don't see this with any other miner product. It's just another case of smoke and mirrors with Joshua Zipkin deceiving people. Also should be noted that ssh access is possible BUT sadly they don't provide that info or they lie about the logins. It required some hacking the image to actually get SSH working properly in my case.

FYI the SAME model is reported on their site as 1.3Ths. So again more lies from this company. AVOID!! Oh and according to them, I am their official support contact. I am not. They passed the buck off to me. And I am trying to get Joshua Zipkin arrested for putting my family in danger. That should speak volumes about the company itself. Considering he thought it was a terrible idea to send a review unit initially to dogie, find it hilarious he took my idea and ran with it. I will post the chat log later where that comes up Wink

I'm running a newer firmware version then the screenshots above and it does actually change values, and it does achieve higher hash rates. I do believe there are enough chips to achieve 1.25TH and its just bad firmware which is failing to achieve that hash rate. We had to go through several versions just to get one that would find the modules. Unfortunately though, he doesn't seem to have been around for a while and I had to publish as it had been too long.
4410  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 4TH miners for immediate shipping [6th Oct prices] on: October 07, 2014, 02:29:28 PM
You have to realize though your the only person on here adding VAT to your sales thread, But if I had enough I would have the rockerminer T1 Smiley

Everyone is adding the value of VAT, they're just not displaying what part of the transaction is VAT or not. If they're not displaying VAT, then they've already paid the VAT and will be charging you 20% more. The only thing me displaying (as is legally required) what portion is the item and what portion is the VAT does it make it clear why different regions have different prices.

If the long term resellers aren't charging VAT within their region, they're probably also evading taxes. You're free to get involved with that game if you want, but I'm not.
4411  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 4TH miners for immediate shipping [6th Oct prices] on: October 07, 2014, 01:26:03 PM
I wasn't talking about VAT I just thought you had a business, And please don't take me the wrong way not trying to offend you as I also find your reviews of great use keep up the good work Smiley

I know, I too was also just saying that VAT doesn't just go on physical goods so lots of people have to register for VAT for lots of different reasons other than the typical selling stuff model.
4412  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 4TH miners for immediate shipping [6th Oct prices] on: October 07, 2014, 12:47:10 PM
So what do you sell doggie would be interested to see your wares always looking for new sites to buy from in the UK with BTC I assume you accept it.

BTC is preferred. Whats for sale is in the 1st post, a few things get added every now and then.

Oh I thought you had a real business not just a few items on here for sale by the way you were talking.

VAT is applicable to all business types, not just those selling physical goods. But no, I don't have a shop or anything. I have limited testing capacity and need to constantly turn it over to keep it open for everyone.
4413  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 4TH miners for immediate shipping [6th Oct prices] on: October 07, 2014, 12:45:25 PM
Hi I enjoy your reviews on hardware and full setup guides. I live in the uk and if i were to purchase a rockminer t1 from zeus it would cost me with vat etc 1.26btc at the current exchange rate of £199 / btc.  for brand new hardware. if I were to go to rockminer shop direct with shipping and vat is at 1.15btc for brand new hardware. I would like to purchase a T1 from yourself pay in btc even pickup? if not too far ( I am midlands based but travel) Are you open to price negotiation on the T1?

You've also got the 2-4 days shipping it round the world in there. I don't accept pickup for security as UK delivery is usually next day, BTC is fine. You're right about the price on that unit so I've dropped 0.15 off the base (+0.03 from the VAT reduction). You're free to put in an offer at any price you want.
4414  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 07, 2014, 11:15:50 AM
I also have this underperforming problem with an S4.
Although the "Mining Status" shows 2000+GH/s I only get ~100GH/s @ghash.io and about 200GH/s at eligius.st.
I am using a 10A power cord since we have 220V here (1400W / 220V = ~6,4A) and do not expect that this is the problem.

I would recommend any suggestions on the performance, thanks.

Hello I have 2 S4's and prefer to use Eligius, but I'm also having tons of trouble with that combo.  I don't have any solutions, but wanted to provide data from my equipment for confirmation of the problem.
...
Below is a link to 2 screenshots of the S4s running on Eligius vs Eclipse.  Note the accepted shares and "Effective Hashrate"

http://1drv.ms/1E6MPRV

I too am seeing nowhere near the advertised hash rate poolside, even though the web ui is reporting close to 2100 average.  I am seeing about 1.67 TH poolside average after several hours.

My antminer s4 is also not working on eligius or ghash, but it's reporting in its own control panel that it's mining at 2000+ gh/s. What is the deal?

I did a buy on the S4's and their hashrate locally is 2th/s or greater (awesome!) however, when connected to BTCGuild NONE of them show anywhere close to 2 Th/s.  They show more like 200 Gh/s.  I have 2 that are over 1 Th/s, but the rest between 0 - 278 GH/s.  WTF Bitmain?Huh

The fix for now is to use GHash or BTCGuild with 2048 difficulty. Pools with vardiff seem to overload the miners at the start when spamming them with difficulty 16 shares. A new firmware is on the way soonTM.

Added warnings to the OP and my guide.

Can we get actual proper specs on the included PSU?

Is this close?

1400w or 116.66A continuous 12v output? Assuming 88% efficiency, that should read as about 1591w at the wall if the miner is consuming 1400w DC correct? Who manufactures the PSU? I get a little nervous when I read "custom PSU".

It's 1400w at the wall.

No, I'm pretty sure the PSU can output 1400W DC. PSUs are never rated with what they draw at the wall.

Its a 1400W DC PSU, ie 116A @ 12V.

Any idea who manufactured the PSU?

I'm not sure but they're taking quite a bit of the market now. I'll see if I can find a name.

Great, my S4 just woke me up with it's annoyingly loud beeping. It's dead! I'm able to log into it just fine, but nothing shows up under status. Tried 3 software reboots and 2 power downs. Nothing! Just hard reset the miner following their instructions in the S4's manual, and now the machine isn't getting an IP address. Display is showing IP as 127.0.0.1.

Anyone know what the button above the reset button does? Edit: Nothing. It's just a hole with no button.

S4 was running at stock speed and voltage. Time to see if Antminer provides good support or not, I guess. Of course they're on holiday.

127.0.0.1 will display when its not detecting any network. You can turn the beeper off under Miner Configuration -> General Settings.

Easiest fix is reset, paperclip into the bottom right hole on the LCD for 3 seconds: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=796839.msg9071956#msg9071956

Does anyone know what username and password could I use for SSH access to S4? The device is freezed but SSH is live.
Thx.

Are the S3's ever going to launch?

...
Dogie, you have the ear of Bitmain is there any news on the S3 B10 launch other than "It's the Chinese New Year"?

I am tempted to buy a few of the 1.4T Prisma miners if the S3's don't go back on sale soon.

I'll try and find out. With BTC price @ $300 though, I wouldn't be too hopeful.
4419  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 07, 2014, 10:54:49 AM
Hi Bitmain

when I started the device everything seems to be okay. But after 4 minutes a lot of (x) appeared in ASIC status. When I do power cycle the situation is after 4 minutes the some. What should I do?  Sad

Wow, this device has very short live with default settings. After 3 hours of running many chips crash. Really bad quality of the products. I hope that bitmain will send me a new device instead of this one!!!

That looks like a PSU problem to me, two boards aren't receiving enough to do much at all and the other two are struggling to keep up. The work that is being done is fine, there's just not enough juice to go around. If you've tried adjusting voltage up slightly then contact bitmain support.
4420  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 07, 2014, 10:52:43 AM
Ok - this is the worst batch of product I have ever gotten from Bitmain.  What is going on??  So far I have had 3 units with bad PSU's.  (One of them almost caught on fire) All of my settings are factory stock. NO overclocking.  One of the units has the amber "alarm" light on the PSU blinking and one unit has what appears to be asci code on the LCD.  So of 33 units purchased 5 are down.  That's 15 % of my units not running within a few days of implementation.  Bitmain I hope you're reading this and thinking of a resolution......

Contact Bitmain support for replacements.
