On the other hand, Barcelona got rid of Griezmann's high salary, but the strange thing is their contract with Dutchman Luke de Jong - at the request of Ronald Koeman, as the media said - despite the low level of this player and his very weak appearance with Seville in the last season.

I also thought that was very strange. I think in normal times I do enjoy watching Dutch athletes play soccer but I'm still not even fully convinced by the one star we have from Ajax in our team. Koeman is Dutch himself so maybe he thinks he can squeeze out the best from his own country but I also thought this was an unneccessary buy.

Oh and I'm so happy Fati got No. 10.
4402  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - Watford FC Main Sponsor - UFC Official Betting Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: September 02, 2021, 10:00:40 AM
I think that odds should be more even for main event but I won't complain with that and I am taking them as they are Smiley
One more bonus is that you can watch and listen LIVE this UFC event on Stake website for free!

They already have the best odds on UFC as they claim and every time I check, it's true:) No need to go hunting for best odds anymore as they provably have the best, even though it is 0.1 odds more it is still always better;)

Actually never bet on this type of sport before but I'm hearing more and more about it and they are very similar to me it seems to tennis, only one outcome in the end;)

I decided not to take this special, but the Turks, although they failed the Euro,, they will play at home today with the support of the fans (I think a half-full stadium is better than nothing). But nevertheless, the Turkish national team has not changed much, so I expect a dirty game, as a consequence, I expect a lot of corners [pending more than 13 corners] and seeing a four-fold coefficient (4.5) for such an outcome, I decided not to miss the opportunity and included it in several of my express bets.

Absolutely right you were about the dirty game, both sides got 4 yellow cards. But absolutely wrong on the corners, only 5 corners for the whole game, 2 for the home team. And finally they let in a goal to only get the draw. Turkey is Turkey as expected, but then so also were Netherlands and France getting draws. I guess they are now under pressure.
4404  Economy / Economics / Re: The lending problem on: September 02, 2021, 08:28:20 AM
--snip--
When at the heart of defi, you have to put up money to get more money. Borrowing money for collateral, which must be crypto.
That is the case for almost everything else in the world. You HAVE to put money to get money. There will always be people who have bigger purses and can become monopolists. In DeFi, with such proliferation of projects, there are just too many scams where people lock up funds and then farm the token to zero. This has always been the bane of crypto. Unregulated, anonymous founders and the ability to drum up a community with low effort marketing on Telegram and Discord.

Just too many third worlders are out there willing to use fake/ farmed twitter and facebook accounts to shill tokens. Its just the bounty mania becoming the DeFi mania. This definitely doesn't mean that the concept of DeFi isn't novel. It is laying the foundations for decentralized lending. How they evolve to actually fulfill the promise of making it easier to have financial access is up to the community to decide.

Its not that there is no path to such a future. Its only that majority is interested in gambles and mad gains, rather than slow, thoughtful building.

But you missed the entire point of my post, and the post I was responding to. At least business banks and development banks actually do give out money or capital for no collateral (they require a good business plan and an interview to determine you have a good business idea and the skills to make it work). So they are actually doing more for the working class and "unbanked" than Defi.

My problem isn't about the way the world works, needing money to make money. My problem is how Defi blatantly puts itself out as champions of unbanked and what not. Defi isn't novel. It's the same system that exists, just on blockchain. Decentralized? Did you read about Poly and BSC hacks and how the companies are working with exchanges to hold and freeze funds? It's just p2p lending, an upgrade of existing lending schemes.
4405  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How weird is it to borrow money and invest into Bitcoin? on: September 02, 2021, 08:02:17 AM
##

For many of the same reasons I have also held off on doing the same, but I know people who did it from 2019 so they are now 2 years into doing it and so far safely. Hence almost tripling their original BTC owned, while paying off the 12% interest easily by selling BTC that has gotten pricier. I guess one has to enter these risky collateral holding during a bear market and then ride the rally as they have been doing the entire year.

I'm also not against borrowing to invest, only problem is the only collateral I have is BTC!
4406  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might be ready to pump similar to December 2020 on: September 01, 2021, 04:03:06 PM
Considering the fact that price rise has been behind the 2017 schedule by a couple of months and we are still in a reverse bubble and haven't even gone back up to the intrinsic value, I don't see December being the "pump" month like it was in 2017. We'll have to see a lot of rises and reach at least $250k then see the sudden "pump" that happens from time to time in bitcoin world leading to the final bubble at $500k.
This can only happen next year.

I'm really hoping this turns out to be the case, that this rise goes into 2022 without blowing up by December. I'm ready for a long period of gains followed by the years of pullback, but it's going to be painful if we see another big blowout by December.

You say final bubble, but you mean for this cycle I think? 500k seems so far away tbh.
4407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: September 01, 2021, 02:43:54 PM
Our summer transfer window has been great, except for Mbappe. Messi, Ronaldo, and Lukaku are some of the best signings in a crazy transfer window. It won't be complete without Mbappe, this youngster's sole interest in joining Real Madrid. However, it appears that PSG won't let down their hopes despite Mbappe's rejection of contract renewal.

I think most of the big clubs did really good buys. PSG look so strong, and so do both Manchester clubs. Real and Barca I think are the losers among the big leagues but they are both rebuilding and need to throw away their old roots to do this.

Now it is a game of who spends the least and wins the most. If PSG does not win anything, their future can turn bleak very fast.
4408  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How weird is it to borrow money and invest into Bitcoin? on: September 01, 2021, 12:37:07 PM
Has anyone tried the numbers? Looking at one published rate of lending for BTC loans (providing your BTC as collateral), I was wondering if this was a form of DCA by borrowing and investing into more. So instead of buying BTC every day or every month as in DCA. You pay off a loan every day.

So look and tell me if my numbers are bad.

1. Loan 80% of BTC collateral value at APR 12%. So if I put in $10000 of BTC I get $8000 to buy more BTC and I have to pay back daily till I pay back $8960.
2. In total, I am down $960 after a year, which I pay daily $24.55, of which $2.63 is the interest.

But this way I increase rightaway my BTC by 80% and am forced to pay for it every day, like enforced DCA in a roundabout way. I feel like I could consider it, only the problem is locking it in the platform for one whole year.
4409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin move to Proof of Stake? on: September 01, 2021, 12:05:57 PM
I think more renewable resources will be used for Bitcoin mining and PoS is not necessary.

PoS is for shit coin and their developers launch coin network with huge premined coins. They use premined coins to stake and dominate network when block rewards are high.

Actually, the renewable sources thing is just a FUD in my opinion. Every world industry needs to make the switch, not just Bitcoin mining. It was singled out because of the misunderstanding that mining produces no value (totally wrong of course).

PoS is an alternative I think it can be done right, but agree that most coins using it now are just lazy and scammy.

So Barca got rid of the Griezmann  Grin Time to pop open the champagne.

He is going back to Atletico so everybody is happy. Barca has money to finally register Aguero, Griezmann will again play good football and Atletico is serious contender for another title. I just don't like the rumors that Barca is looking to buy De Jong from Sevilla as replacement, have nothing against him but he is not player for Barca. Better to use some young guys and players they already have.

Now if someone would just take Pjanic & Umtiti.....

Not quite just yet, it's a loan, but yeah, pleased to have another mistake off the books. I don't know though, Suarez was a sure mistake and we practically gifted Simeone the title last season. Griezmann and Suarez together I think now means they should make a proper defense of the title, I'd say should make them top favs now.

Have to focus on our youth squad, man.

Look, every sportsbook limits players individually, and sometimes it's even just their software department or odds department. You take it up with support and see what they can do for you, or you move books. It's always going to happen to you at some point though.
Well there must  be a reason odds providers kr software needs some kind of algorithm to follow to make a decision to limit a player or not.
One of the algorithm is if the player in long term a winner ahbe the player himself does t know he is a winner  for a reason he might be a winner in long term in sport but he blow his winnings or part of his bank in casino games.
Sports and casino games has different providers .
Odds or sports betting providers they offer something to the bookies called risk management it might include algorithms to limit winning players.

That's how a business in the sportsbook/casino sector works, buddy, welcome to commercial gambling. It's to protect the bankroll from sudden and unexpected losses long term, and that's not just good for the casino, but good for other players who fall in the average/regular algo counts like me and you I guess:)

Risk management, exactly as you say.

^^
F1 is the best odds as at any moment the favorites can slip up and boom, the unlikely driver can win or come in to stand on the podium.
Steve did have a driver at 14k odds to reach pole in the qualifying race. Was off by 0.200 of a second.
But still, it would of made for a legendary win. Smiley

Same question from araalmuus as me, where is the place to get all these 1000x odds? I always look at f1 sometimes and bet on Japanese drivers (also there was a special I took recently but he didn't finish top 10 qualifying as that was the needed results). But most I see is 300 to 500x. Even with boost it's adding not more than around 60x to the price.
4413  Economy / Speculation / Re: Parabolic blowoff top or Rounded top on: September 01, 2021, 06:23:53 AM
Now I'm 2021, people are looking back and are expecting a massive blowofftop followed by a bear market. So do you think it's gonna happen? You gotta think two steps ahead mate.

Really? I thought the majority of people are now thinking Bitcoin will no longer have those blowoffs, as can be seen even by the opinions here. For me important to see also is the media predictions. Imagine in 2017 and before that, before even 10k price, people were predicting 500k and 1 million.

Now we are 50k and people are just predicting 100k:)
4414  Economy / Economics / Re: The lending problem on: September 01, 2021, 06:02:59 AM
Bulllll****! There is no problem is borrowing if you know what you're doing!
I took a loan that I was supposed to pay in 25 years (paid it way earlier) and I bought my small flat, what was I suppose to do without a loan, live with my parents till I was 50 or spend the money I was putting towards paying the loan on rent and end up with nothing?

Crypto alone will never replace banks!
I don't know a single person who has spent 20 years getting slowly money to start his own business larger than a hot-dog stand but I know tens who have done so by taking a loan from a bank! How will this work with defi and collateral? You will have to come up with $100k to take a loan worth $30k? Like it or not, a lot of small businesses were started with loans, a lot of them rely on banks to grant them loans when expanding or when in trouble, if we go the ways of collateral nobody with limited resources will ever have the opportunity to start something.

I pointed this out in so many defi threads. You cannot believe how many stupid "defi" projects there are out there who actually still tell everybody that they are helping poor people and unbanked people. Defi for everyone, my ass.

When at the heart of defi, you have to put up money to get more money. Borrowing money for collateral, which must be crypto.

Nobody admits to the fact that "defi" is only for rich gamblers. Banks, you can hate them, but with the government help and a salary you can borrow money for nothing up front.
4415  Economy / Economics / Re: The lending problem on: August 31, 2021, 01:40:57 PM
Banks do not have any power over you at all unless there are laws, laws that protect their fiat currency when they loan you. So, if you take a loan, and do not pay it, what happens? Bank seizes your stuff and come in with couple cops and take your stuff and sell them to pay off your debt right?

Well, why shouldn't that be the same for crypto? If banks are given the right to loan crypto to people, and if you do not pay your crypto loan back, then there should be laws that will allow banks to come in and seize your things and do the same thing they do with fiat. It is not about lending not being easy in crypto, if you loan to someone you do not know then you will not be able to do anything, however if there are laws and the laws back you up then you can loan to anyone you want and if they fail then you take their stuff, just like how it is in fiat world.

The decentralized lending protocols show how laws don't take place though.

The rules are set by smart contracts, so lenders are protected if the code is done well enough, whereby it triggers full liquidation of borrower's collateral if they don't pay back. But at the same time, if the code isn't good enough or market flash crash or spikes happen, we've also seen borrowers take advantage of flash loans and win big leaving lenders at a loss.

No laws to take them to court because it's all "decentralized".
4416  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might be ready to pump similar to December 2020 on: August 31, 2021, 01:08:10 PM
In my own view i think it is only a game of mind and it is up for the new beginners if they will gonna invest and i think they will, so reaching 50,000 USD or even 60,000 USD for Bitcoin is not impossible, that's why we must buy some Bitcoin right now while is very affordable.

First time I've heard someone say buy Bitcoin right now because it's very affordable. I mean, we're talking a time when buying a whole Bitcoin even in 2017 was impossible for majority of the planet, what more to say now when it's many times more in price.

Besides, even if BTC = $1m you still can buy it, your fractions simply get less and less.
4417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: August 31, 2021, 11:58:33 AM
Save your money and don't bet on Barca. I already did but I feel like it's a wasted one. Atletico look like they might have the squad to pull it off if they find out how to keep Suarez and Correa injury free the whole season, but they could also be distracted by Champions League who knows.

It's amazing how Villarreal in the match against Atletico made only two hits and scored two goals, while the Atletico almost the entire game besieged the gate of Villarreal and could barely play into a draw. Although this is probably more the merit of Villarreal, that they were able to realize 100% of their chances in this match. But the defense did not play properly and conceded twice in this match. So far, for me, Atletico and Real Madrid are two of the most obvious contenders for the championship, we'll see how they play further.

Actually, it's pretty common in football these days, and that's almost how Atletico used to always win their own games. 30% possession. Counters. 3 strikes and 3 goals, that sort of thing.

Which is why Trofo was so surprised they even busted the Blackjack with 14 corners to nil and over 10 shots on goal!
4418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Big sad on: August 31, 2021, 11:27:46 AM
I think that buying Bitcoin is also a wise decision. You didn't get profit from Cardano now, but I am sure that if you are patient enough, you will hold Bitcoin for a while and you will also get a good profit. Moreover you are so young and already involved in crypto, so you have enough time to make money on this market, so just take your time and don't give up.

I agree, but this is bitcointalk and we're all bitcoin believers, even those who pretend they're not (you know who I'm talking about bcash people).

But it's the last piece of advice I would ever want to give to people who've lost their money already. When you go in, you're chasing losses and that kind of psychological exertion on buyers is never preparing them to be long term investors.

I would take a step back and relax, and live life normally. Put some leftover spare cash into DCA for BTC and that's it.
4419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin move to Proof of Stake? on: August 31, 2021, 09:42:37 AM
No. Why should they? Precisely what characterizes Bitcoin, an essential feature that distinguishes it from shitcoins, that gives security to the network, is the proof of work. So I don't see any reason to do it.

Not 100% true, PoW without enough hashpower behind it is about as meaningless as PoS (in my opinion). We only need to look at bcash and laugh at how easily people can 51% attack them. And they're not even the worst PoW shitcoin out there.

Ha, I fully expected to be last after terrible round but it seems there are few of you guys in even worse shape  Grin

Doesen't matter, still only begging, plenty of time to attack paying positions. Or more realistically, watch the difference to the top grow every week.
yeah it's still in the beginning of the season and you don't know when you will get some good rounds.
In the first round I was 11th with 7.5points behind top two rounds later I'm 2nd tied with the top on number of points.
So as long you stay close for the last 5 rounds anything can happens.
You Don't know when your luck will start to kick in.
Or you just Suck at it  Grin Grin and every gameweek you see the gap gets larger.
For me I was very lucky specially this gameround.
I had most of my predictions have 1 goal in them that made me get 3 correct score.
I feel that Laliga is getting fewer goals scored then the other top major leagues it could be only explained that with Messi leaving Barcelona and and the total spending in the league is far less then other leagues.

It's nice to get early starts yes, but also nice to be right at the bottom so nobody expects you to sneak back up and get yellow hats later haha. I try not to let these results get to me but it's funny being in this position when it's supposed to be the league you know the most among all the big European ones:p

No Messi no goals? How boring life is:p
