4401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: April 07, 2020, 05:18:18 PM
It will be hard to have a reschedule for PSL because of the International matches I think or have to continue with the local players which will not be much of interest.

Yes... the calendar is very packed for that time, but I guess the PCB may be able to squeeze out 5-6 days. Just three matches remain and they can schedule it for three consecutive days. Give two days for team building and preparation and everything will be over in five days. It's not that hard. I am optimistic about it, but a lot will depend on the response from the overseas players (who played a large part in making this edition a grand success).
4402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to escape loss as an altcoin trader on: April 07, 2020, 05:12:52 PM
There is only one way to escape from loss while trading. Stop trading altogether. Even the best of the day traders have a strike rate of only 55% to 60%. They are able to make profit, because of their adherence to strict profit-booking and stop-loss targets. And if you want to become a successful trader, more than anything the stop-loss target is important. Never ignore that level while trading.
4403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New investors are too impatience on: April 07, 2020, 04:42:44 PM
Bitcoin gave terrific returns for anyone who invested during the initial years (2009-13). Even those who invested during 2014-16 got handsome returns from the investment. But now it may be a bit late to get that sort of investment (I am talking about 20x or 100x returns). But there is a good chance that those who invest now may get better returns when compared to other form of investments.

Watching for 8 hours every day is extreme. If you do that, then you may be ignoring your studies or your work commitments.
Not everyone have much work to do at this lockdown season so they have no options other than spending their days with netflix and Youtube.Sometime myself see old circket moments from different countries which still gives goosebumps to me like what we will react if we watch that for first time.

I don't want anyone to concentrate on their studies now because we are really got stressed with out busy life schedule so why not give some rest to our mind and body. Grin

I feel jealous about you guys. I am an IT employee and even now we have to work for 9-10 hours every day. On top of that, even on weekends there is no entertainment. The lockdown is quite strict here and all the shopping malls and cinema theaters are closed. I am getting really frustrated sitting inside the house all the time. On top of that, there are little children in my house and they can be really irritating.

In short BCCI pay almost 10k professional cricketers including retired cricketers.

As far as I know, contracts are not offered to domestic players. Their earnings mostly composes of match fees. But at the end of every season, the BCCI pays them a fixed amount (surplus from the budget). These are the match fees for domestic players:

4 day matches (Ranji Trophy): ₹160,000 per match
ODI and T20 matches: ₹40,000 per match

U-19 and U-16 ODIs: ₹12,000 per match
U-23 ODIs: ₹40,000 per match
4406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: April 07, 2020, 03:28:54 PM
In any case, there are some commentaries that the Democrats are underestimating Bernie Sanders' ability to gather independent votes. Many independents who might vote for him might not vote for Biden.

Well.. that's what happened in 2016. Those who voted for Sanders, at least a large part of them stayed at home or turned out to vote for Jill Stein. But the circumstances have changed. Back then, Hillary was accused of stealing the primary election from Sanders. This time Biden is defeating Sanders comfortably in most of the states. And the idea of a second term for Trump horrifies many of the Sanders supporters. They will be forced to support Biden, albeit unwillingly.
4407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IPL Mutual Pool Discussion. on: April 06, 2020, 06:27:06 PM
I think it's primarily due to differences of cost of living and purchasing power in India and Australia. A million dollar in India has much more purchasing power than $1.469 Million in Australia. Maybe this is why it looks like this to you. This is the sole reason why Indian celebrities look underpaid in front of there US counterparts even though Indian celebrities have crazy fan following.

Nope... I never said that the Indian players are underpaid. That is how the system in India works.

In India, we have 37 first-class sides and each of these sides have U-16, U-19, U-23 and Women's teams. The domestic cricket structure in India is huge, and it is almost 10 times the size of any other nation. The BCCI has to support huge number of players (many thousands) and they need to pay for facilities, scorers, umpires, curators.etc. So the national players are paid a smaller percentage of the total revenues when compared to the other countries.

In Australia, they have only 6 first-class sides. So a larger proportion of the revenues can be paid to the national players. That said, Indian players earn much more than the Australians or the Brits, from various sponsorship and endorsements.

OK guys... we have some encouraging news. PCB is still looking to reschedule the remaining three matches in the near future. Please check this statement by Wasim Khan (CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board):

https://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2020/04/04/two-small-windows-reschedule-psl-2020-knockouts-wasim-khan/

Quote
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo’s Stump Mic podcast, Wasim, the PCB’s chief executive, said that the fifth edition of the competition had been a “resounding success” and that the board has identified two possible windows for the knockout stages of the competition to be played later in the year, after the tournament was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the same article, he mentions that PSL 2020 was attended by more than 600,000 fans, with an average attendance of around 23,000 per match (for comparison, the average attendance for BBL 2020 was 18,353 per match).
4409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: April 06, 2020, 06:12:58 PM
Disregarding the getting-sick factor, for which I don't hope, I am asking myself this: I am 77 years old and would like to be the next US President. My chances are more or less 50/50. A guy from my party, 15 years younger and with whom I have a friendly relationship, has way better chances to beat Trump and make my Democrats enter the WH again. What do I do ? Am I putting my own goals above the goals from my party and the future of my nation ?

Biden having once in a lifetime chance to become the most powerful person on the globe. Do you really think that he would sacrifice that and select one of his colleagues for the Democrat nomination? And that too someone who doesn't even figured in the primaries? Forget about his age. Biden would still be the candidate, even if he is 87 years old.

As you said, Biden needs to put his own goals above the goals from his party and the future of the United States. Agreed. But what if Biden thinks that by running for the president (as a moderate Democrat, he has one of the best chances against Trump), he is perfectly in line with the goals from his party? I am sure that Biden thinks that he is doing a favor for the US, by running against Trump.
4410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange tokens on: April 05, 2020, 04:28:37 PM
Exchanges in cryptocurrency is very important, many peoples need it to trade their coins and tokens and that makes the exchange profitable.
But we must very careful before using any new exchange because they can faking their trading volumes to attract more users.
Don't store too much coins on exchange wallet, just use exchange when you want to trade.

No one is downplaying the importance of cryptocurrency exchanges. I would have included them in my portfolio as well, if they were fairly priced. At this point of time at least, I would argue that they are being priced much above the fair valuation levels. Binance coin (BNB) is having a market cap of around $2.1 billion. It is still digestible. But what about the smaller exchanges, such as KuCoin whose exchange token is having a market cap of close to $100 million? IMO, these tokens are overpriced.
4411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Corona is spreading in many countries!! Bitcoin is a solution for transactions on: April 05, 2020, 03:55:47 PM
It is more safe to do transactions in bitcoin than via cash or credit cards. But the problem is not many people uses bitcoin and they are not aware of it. Few days back I wanted to pay someone in bitcoins but he was insisting on cash because he didn't knew about bitcoin and therefore he does not trust digital currency.

Bitcoin need to be spread more, if we want it to make a alternative currency for paper money.

The problem is that Bitcoin is not that popular. So in most cases, if you want to make payment with Bitcoin, then you need to purchase gift cards that are denominated in fiat cash first. There are very few options for doing direct payment with BTC or any other cryptocurrency. And regarding the safety part, let's not forget the fact that Bitcoin is not 100% safe from wallet hacking.
4412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: AIR DROPS ! wasting time or not? on: April 05, 2020, 03:47:54 PM
During my initial days, I used to participate in the airdrops very enthusiastically. Back in 2017 and 2018, almost 90% of the airdrops used to be unrewarding. But then, there was the remaining 10% which would give valuable cryptocurrency holdings to noobs like me. Back then, such airdrops used to mean a lot for me. However after mid-2018, the reward rate dropped quite a lot and it was no longer worth spending time and effort in these airdrops.
4413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of cryptocurrency during this pandemic on: April 05, 2020, 03:16:18 PM
The advantage of cryptocurrencies is that they can be mobilized easily and quickly from anywhere in the world. As far as I know there is a bitcoin donation campaign in Italy against COVID-19 and it has been successful, besides Binance is also calling for $ 5 million contribution to fight the pandemic.

All this is positive news. But at the same time, practical difficulties remain. For example, Binance can donate $5 million in cryptocurrency to fight the COVID 19 epidemic. But that amount needs to be converted to fiat cash first, before it can be used for relief operations. Because none of the pharma companies or medical equipment manufacturers would accept Bitcoin as a form of payment.
4414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BOUNTY PAYMENT MATTERS on: April 05, 2020, 03:10:44 PM
This suggestion was made many times before and every time, the proposal was rejected. Some of the users argue that such conditions may result in good projects not getting realized. I disagree with them, but then I don't have any power regarding it. I feel bad for all the bounty hunters, who get dejected and disappointed, despite all that hard work, time and effort they put in. But that it how the things work.
4415  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the government understand? on: April 05, 2020, 03:04:05 PM
Well.. What happened after the 2008-09 economic recession? During that time, a lot of people lost their jobs and a large number of businesses became bankrupt. But the economy recovered very soon, during the 2009-10 period. Within two-three years time, the economy was in a much better state, when compared to what we had in 2008. I hope that the same will happen this time as well.
4416  Economy / Economics / Re: Corona has killed economy of many businesses on: April 05, 2020, 02:56:49 PM
Not sure when the pandemic will last. We have been hearing clinical trials of some drugs but hopefully, we can get an answer to this before the last quarter of the year. The real view of how the economy of many countries will react to this will be very clear after this pandemic. There are already some news that there might be another global economy recession.
We barely know when does this vaccines and antidote will occurs, but I think a large pharmaceutical is now having an on going development on their drugs, so let us wait for it to be available, when this happen, market will recover its losses and the coin of that pharmaceutical if ever it has its own, it will have a great number of buyers and could be an expensive one due to public demand of their goods so their coins will go high too.

Don't think that there will be a sudden recovery once this outbreak is contained. Markets will not recover that fast, as we saw during 2007-09. It may take anywhere from 12 to 36 months, for the markets to recover properly. And the case of cryptocurrency is even more unpredictable. Because of its high volatility and limited liquidity, predicting the future course of the cryptocurrency market can be very difficult.
4417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 05, 2020, 02:42:37 PM
During lockdown everyone is getting bored and there are many people who have nothing more to get engaged into. I guess watching for 8 hours is ok for them. Also TBH highlights are not much enjoyable IMO i.e skip in commentary and tactical changes and these are something that a die hard cricketer fan carefully listens to. Plus you only watch highlights if you are running out of time but situation is quite the opposite now.

I don't mind wasting my 8 hours if it is action packed. I find Ashes interesting as well but that I would obviously be watching highlights lol.

Well... most of us are working, irrespective of the lockdown. The only difference now is that we are able to save the time which would have otherwise gone in commuting. During the weekdays, the daytime is taken up by full time job, which leaves only a few hours to watch any sporting action. And for my part I have stopped watching the sports channels, as no live action is available. Watching for 8 hours every day is extreme. If you do that, then you may be ignoring your studies or your work commitments.
4418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: April 05, 2020, 02:36:51 PM
Well.. I don't understand this. There is no doubt that Andrew Cuomo is having very high approval ratings right now. But I can't see a scenario where he is included in the ballot for POTUS 2020. The Democratic primaries are almost finished and only 3 candidates remain there. Apart from Joe Biden, we have Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard. Now it is too late for Andrew Cuomo to enter the race for Democratic nomination.

The only way he can compete for the president post is to run as an independent. Given how loyal Cuomo is to the Democratic party, I would rule out that option.
4419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways in which you can promote bitcoin. on: April 05, 2020, 02:30:31 PM
I am living in a relatively remote part of India and I am quite sure that very few have ever heard about Bitcoin (or for that matter cryptocurrency in general) in my town and the neighboring villages. I have tried my best, to educate people about Bitcoin. Unfortunately in 99% of the cases the response was not very encouraging. But despite this I have tried to promote Bitcoin during person-to-person conversations, whenever I got a chance.
4420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 05, 2020, 02:23:59 PM
Regardless of other sporting event scheduled later this year I think it is better to cancel everything untill there is a cure found for this deadly virus. Why risk anyone's life for the sake of just entertainment?

Countries who have the best medical facilities are the one which are becoming crippled with this virus. The effect of this virus in third world countries would be devastating.

Cure may be at least 6 months (or more likely 12 months plus) away. The big question is whether the global economy can sustain a continued lockdown for almost an year. My prediction is that within 2-3 months, people will get used to it and would return to work (while maintaining social distancing norms). The same will happen with the sporting events as well. They may play their matches, without any spectators.
