4421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: where are private keys stored? on: June 21, 2020, 10:17:25 PM
So is it right to say in case of etherdelta the private key is stored in my browser cache? If yes that means anyone who can access my cache can also see my key?
the safest way to use Ethetdelta is to connect to it using MetaMask. This way you will be sure that your private key never leaves your computer. Whenever you want to make a transaction you will be asked to sign it using MetaMask and you don't have to provide the PK.
One more thing, ED uses a smart contract and basically you have to deposit your coins on that smart contract to be able to trade them. AFAIK, the private key you create using ED is used to interact with the contract and is saved only on your browser. If you lose it, thete is no way to recover it and no one have access to it unless your computer gets compromised or you log in to a phishing website.
4422  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the Best Bitcoin wallet? on: June 21, 2020, 08:56:37 PM
I'm not going to repeat what have been said already as to why you should not use an online wallets. But in case you insist to use one then which one is best depends on what you are going to use it for.
If you are going to use it to only receive and send bitcoins then you should go with blockchain.com as it has user friendly UI and allow you to customize withdrawal fees.
If, aside from receiving and sending, you plan to buy coins with CC, fiat, link your bank account or want to exchange bitcoin for other cryptos then coinbase is what you should use.
4423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading in India is on fire on: June 21, 2020, 08:10:48 PM
A few days ago, I've seen a post about the Indian government want to ban cryptocurrency and today they legalize cryptocurrency.
I am a litle bit confused because I remember reading that topic too talking about the possibility of banning the use of cryptocurrencies in India.
Here is the link:

I don't know what to believe anymore!
@OP, if possible, can you add links to the source on which you found this info?
4424  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selfmade Legendary member after 2+ years on: June 21, 2020, 07:32:48 PM
Congrats dkbit98 on achieving this milestone, you worked hard for it.
From full member to legendary in less than a year is something to be proud of.
I just ranked up to legendary too and received my 1000th merit almost as the same time as you.
BTW, I want to thank Cabalism13 for granting me the last few merits needed to rank up and all those who helped and assisted me during this journey.

sorry for hijacking your thread  Cheesy
4425  Other / Meta / Re: Meriting: local boards posters vs rest of boards posters on: June 21, 2020, 06:07:06 PM
There are few explanations as to why local posters receive more merits than other members and abuse isn't the main reason.
- Firstly, on most local boards, there are usually few active members and a dozen of new posts daily at max. Which makes it impossible for a high quality post to go unnoticed or to get burried under hundreds of shitposts.
- Secondly, because of the low number of active local posters, MS tend to merit even average posts to incentivise new comers to stay and keep contributing.
- because of the lack of activity, there is always a room for new and interesting subjects/ideas to discuss. You can simply translate a good topic and you may receive more merits than OP.
- it's not always about quality posts, sometimes it's just about how much the member is committed and dedicated to improve his local board.
...
Regarding sig campaigns, those who post only on local have lower chances of joining one.
4426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Thoughts on Braver browser? on: June 21, 2020, 05:06:46 PM
I'm also curious how this would work. Brave CEO already said that the fork won't work without the revenue streams.
Clunk UX sounds like bugs to fix. Please file. But they want to drop several major revenue legs. That leaves nothing but donations for funding. Won't work.
It seems like Brave CEO either has no idea how much a useful project can collect from donations or is saying that as an attempt to thwart it since it represents a serious  competitor or simply trying to find excuses to justify what they did after they got exposed.
Just take WikiPedia as an example. It has been running for years and they mainly rely on donations (no ads, no partnerships, no official sponsors...)
4427  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Something wrong with blockchain??? on: June 21, 2020, 04:29:29 PM
A HD wallet doesn't work like that. To check your entire balance you have to check each used receiving address plus change addresses.
Blockchain.com does it for you and show you your final balance.
The address you see on blockchain.com is most probably a newly generated receiving address.
Do as suggested by hosseinimr93 to get your used addresses.
4428  Other / Archival / Re: [ CWE-79 ] *.nastyfans.org is vulnerable to script injection on: June 21, 2020, 03:25:32 PM
@Vod, I don't get your logic here.
What could be the intent behind pentesting and scanning a website without the consent of its owner!
and why did he disclose the vulnerability publicly before it got patched!
Maybe OP's intentionts are good, but by doing this, isn't he just making things easier for hackers?
4429  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ban evasion, multi acc & some harmless multi acc - Need a DT1-2 to tag them on: June 20, 2020, 10:19:02 PM
One coincidence does not mean anything. If there are several coincidences, then we can say that this is NOT a mistake.
You raised a valid point here. Bounty hunters always copy each others application posts and sometimes forget to edit them.

At first glance and by taking a look at the dates ofthose application posts it looks like SARA ISLAM was the one who copied moicungzin991's post which is, probably, not true and the whole thing is a stupid mistake indeed.

I checked their posts history and found that this was the only time where moicungzin991 used that address. Besides, he used SARA's profile link. So, most likely he copied the post and forgot to edit it.
4430  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quiz: Signature Campaign Guidelines on: June 20, 2020, 08:48:43 PM
I didn't really feel like taking the quiz but after reading the above replies and the pisitive feedback it got, I became curious. I took it and got 12/14  Sad
What I noticed is:
- some questions look like they were cut from comments on this forum, hence, their answers depends on the full context.
- Some questions may have more than one valid answer (ex: admin/stuff, unsubstantial/spam)
- You didn't set the  correct answer for question #13
- I don't know from were you got the answers for banning durations, so it would be better if you add some references.
4431  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ban evasion, multi acc & some harmless multi acc - Need a DT1-2 to tag them on: June 20, 2020, 07:17:11 PM

I did not find a match in that these accounts belong to one person.
maybe you clicked on the wrong evidence link. I did it too because of my phone's small screen.
They are definitely alts as they used the same eth address.

I didn't have time to check one by one.. Although harmless, it can be good to, at least, tag the inactive account
It will take a lot of time to check them all, I'll check some of them when possible and report back here.

Quote
#1 - Uragonz & Hayns.. clearly a lost password case.. should anyone tag the inactive account to avoid further problems?
Hayns has been hacked and its owner locked it:
Same .. i just managed to locked my account ... but i cant changed my password the hacker access my account deleted some of my important info's ..

Quote
I don't know if a negative trust should be appropriate or not in some cases, that's why I need some DT members to review it..
Since those accounts have been inactive for a long time, then a neutral feedback is more appropraite (imo)

Great effort OP, but I didn't understand what do you mean by "harmless multi accounts"!
Why are you reporting them here if they didn't violate any rule or commit any fraudulent action that requires the intervention of DTs?
It  would be better to remove them from this list to avoid any confusion and report them in the Known Alts of any-one - A User Generated List Mk thread.
4434  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to improve my skills? on: June 20, 2020, 01:06:27 PM
I'm asking for essential tips for me to learn and explore, and to share my point of views in every category.
Reading and asking questions about things you don't understand is the key to learning. However, it's almost impossible to cover all cryptocurrencies aspects and fully master them.
You should define your goals and know exactly what you want to learn otherwise your efforts will be dispersed and things may become more ambiguous to you.

If you are interested in bitcoin and want to learn how it works, you can start with reading "Mastering Bitcoin" by Andreas Antonopoulos. A great book but not really for beginners but you can ask here about any thing you don't understand and other members will help you.

Thank you @pooya87 but am well aware of that too and never connected ay external device to my PC.
I use it mainly to browse the web but don't use any AV or firewall. My guess is that it got infected by exploiting a browser vulnerability as I use an outdated version of Chrome (don't know why it doesn't auto-update) on Windows 7.

What I noticed is that the malware only detects addresses starting with 1 and 3. It doesn't alter native SegWit addresses. So, either the hacker wrote the code before SegWit got implemented or he is a BCH/BSV supporter (kiddidng Grin)
4437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Clipper on: June 19, 2020, 11:21:20 PM
I found out recently that my PC has been infected with the clipboard hijacker malware for the second time.
I have now idea how or when this happened since I've been very cautious and never downloaded any file from the Net!

An easy way of getting rid of this forever is by running a scan on your computer for bitcoin clippers and other viruses by a professional.
Another simply way is just double/triple check your bitcoin address before sending.
What I do is to exclude the first character and copy the rest of the address then, after pasting it, I add the missing character manually. It works for me but I strongly recommend to scan your hardrives and entirely remove the malware.
