4421  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stop the panic, I doubt we will see 14k or less Bitcoin on: December 16, 2022, 05:53:46 PM
We may find out soon. I think the Binance FUD is nearing some sort of conclusion. Now that their auditor quit, it seems there is a bit of fire below all that smoke. Something will have to happen soon. Either Binance proves without a doubt they have the money to back deposits, or they don’t and the market crashes again. I tend to think Binance isn’t as strong as they say and BNB is ripe for a blowup. We’ll probably find out for sure soon enough.
4422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 16, 2022, 05:51:33 PM
ESPN having a good doubleheader on the air tonight. First up the Golden State Warriors vs the Philadelphia 76ers then the Los Angeles Lakers vs Denver Nuggets. With no Steph I think the 76ers might be able to pull out a victory over the defending champs. The Lakers might struggle a bit playing against the Nuggets. Denver is just stacked these days. Lakers will need a good game out of LeBron and AD to get a W tonight.
4423  Other / Archival / Re: SONDORS Metacycle - $5,000 (now $6.5K) Electric Motorcycle on: December 16, 2022, 05:47:21 PM
Just received word from Sondors that the Metacycle should be here next week. Great timing for a Christmas present. They’re mailing the charger and stuff to me and gave instructions on how to register the Metacycle. They also said if I’m not available there is a $250 charge to reschedule delivery. I’ll update again when something else happens. It does appear this product is not vaporware as suggested by many. Smiley
4424  Economy / Speculation / Re: ELON sold his TSLA stock for $3.5billion. Will he re-buy BTC soon? on: December 16, 2022, 01:03:09 AM
Elon is selling stock because he has to raise funds for his Twitter purchase and keeping it afloat. He borrowed money and wants to be certain he can pay it back so he doesn’t accidentally bankrupt himself if Tesla stock continues to fall. For these reasons he will not be buying BTC with these funds. If he did decide he wanted more BTC, he would implement crypto payments on Twitter and keep a % for himself. This seems far more likely than a market purchase.
4425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / [POLL] Will BNB crash? Will Binance go bankrupt? on: December 16, 2022, 12:38:07 AM
CZ’s interview today seemed as though it was an admission of guilt that Binance does not have customer funds available to meet the needs of their customers. Just another FTX situation, but Binance had more liquidity to try and stay afloat. Tokens are now coming out and saying that Binance made them put up 200K BNB tokens they couldn’t withdraw in order to obtain a listing. Suddenly the cat is out of the bag. Binance is naked and BNB is worthless as a stand-alone token. This may just be my opinion, what do you think?

I’ll be surprised if Binance isn’t below $100 in 90 days…

My takeaway from this… The more BTC people withdraw from exchanges, the higher the price of BTC will go.
4426  Other / Meta / Re: We can not discuss if 'ChipMixer is a honeypot or not' outside their own thread? on: December 15, 2022, 08:10:24 PM
You don't have to either promote money laundering or force everyone to operate in a vast draconian infrastructure.
No, you do.

I guess we can agree to disagree.  I'll continue not promoting money laundering and advocating for protocol level fungibility, not fungibility that depends on a 3rd party breaking the law and users being participants in that choice to break the law by using said third party.  That is not the vision I had (not that anyone gives a fuck) for blockchain privacy.  It will only lead to more regulation and honeypot attacks on community members just trying to have privacy, who like you, thought this was a legal and reasonable option to use because the moral police on bitcointalk were promoting it.
4427  Other / Meta / Re: Ignored user's post on QUOTE is visible on: December 15, 2022, 08:05:41 PM
I knew it from long ago but today realized that ignore option doesn't serve its purpose. If we put someone on our ignore list, his/her post isn't visible. But when someone else quote the ignored user, it gets visible which I guess doesn't make any sense. Why don't we have the option to ignore someone permanently in such a way that we don't see their post without removing them from our ignore list?

A true block function is definitely needed here.  I've found a great deal of happiness using this site after ignoring a great deal of troublemakers, but occasionally I still see them posting on my threads or mentioning me when they're quoted.  I'd hate for these individuals to think I still acknowledge them or their posts as being anything but worthless garbage, as I may respond to the users who have quoted them.  It would be great if we could just hit the block button and then never have to waste time reading anything they write every again.  Free speech shouldn't equal a forced audience.
4428  Economy / Economics / Re: Twitter Crypto head and staff resigns on: December 15, 2022, 08:01:33 PM
Well, Twitter's crypto implementation has been ass so far, so I'm not surprised.  Elon probably has his own crypto guys and wants to be able to trust the developers working on this sort of thing to keep any surprises from happening due to some liberal developer with a grudge.  I think this is probably a good thing and maybe Twitter will play a bigger role in crypto than any of us currently envision.  Regardless of the why or what's coming, when it comes to firing employees at Twitter, I think Elon would have a hard time going too far...  That was one company that went off the rails and Jack shouldn't be excused of his role in it happening.
4429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 99% of People Will Lose Crypto in Self Custody on: December 15, 2022, 07:58:43 PM
While he has a slight point, I'm really not a fan of the 99% number, knowing how frequently attacked centralized exchanges are.

I think the only case where I'll justify leaving funds on a centralized exchange, is when the holder is a totally technologically-illiterate senior citizen. On the other hand, if the holder is capable of using a smartphone, chances are — he/she is capable of using a Ledger hardware wallet.

But yea, you shouldn't lose your funds in self-custody if you aren't utterly careless.

It's actually pretty easy to lose a bitcoin wallet even if you're diligent. All it takes is forgetting your password or failing to discover a corrupted backup, and boom - your coins are gone. There isn't a bullet-proof solution that's going to work 100% of the time. Technology needs to take into account that no one is going to be a perfect custodian--ever. You may get lucky and your mistake won't be a costly one, but user error is basically inevitable.

I think that's the kind of mistake you only make once though.  Early on in my Bitcoin experience I made the mistake of thinking that all my coins were held in my wallet so if I had my private key backed up I would be fine.  Then when my computer crashed I learned about change addresses and coin control.  I still have the crashed hard drive with what I estimate is tens of thousands or possibly hundreds of dollars worth of BTC on it.  Maybe someday I'll try and recover it.  The lesson I learned was far greater though.  I think a lot of people have these sorts of things happen, which is why Bitcoin's actual market cap is probably significantly lower than it appears, and also why so many coins never move...
4430  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Solar Powered Farm on: December 15, 2022, 07:54:33 PM
Is solar-powered mining a thing?

Not really as far as I'm concerned, due to the sun only shining 1/2 the day.  The amount of batteries to do something like this at any decent scale is much more expensive than people think.  However, using solar to offset your mining consumption is a great idea.  A lot of times people pay "peak" electricity rates, and this peak is exactly when you'd get the most from your solar panels.  So if you're mining, it's of course great to have the most expensive energy provided by the sun, then cheaper grid energy is available when the sun isn't shining.  I think this is the more realistic approach to using solar panels for mining.  I do have solar panels and batteries running my mining operation, but I don't use the batteries to keep me off the grid during the night, as it wouldn't make sense with my power plan.

I saw that you mention you have a location in Phoenix, AZ.  If we are ever near this location, is it possible to drop in and check out the inventory?  Maybe grab some inventory and avoid the shipping costs?  Just curious.  I wouldn't mind seeing all of this gear in person just to see it.  Smiley  Maybe getting on your good side to be available if any great deals arise might not be a bad thing either.  Would love to learn more about what your location in Phoenix entails and what sort of other crypto stuff you have going on.  Do you ever attend meetups in the area, or is it just a reshipping location?
4432  Economy / Services / Re: Free NFT daily on: December 15, 2022, 07:41:39 PM
Seems like a good offer, but what NFTs are you sending exactly?  Do you have any examples or can we see your wallet address to look at what sort of NFTs you're dealing with?  NFTs can be scary in that interaction with them can put the rest of your assets in jeopardy if the creator has nefarious intentions.  This is why typically people don't accept NFTs that are sent to their wallet for free.  Not saying that's what is happening here, but perhaps with more information someone would be able to take a look at the collections you're giving away for free to make sure the contract doesn't contain any funny business.  Stay safe and good luck!
4433  Economy / Services / Re: 👽 3D for Metaverse / 3D NFT Design from scratch / 3D Collections 👽 on: December 15, 2022, 07:39:48 PM
You mention that you make assets for the metaverse.  Do you have any specific examples of assets that you've created and are available on the blockchain?  Do you make assets for any metaverse or is there one specific metaverse that you have experience working with?  What sort of pricing do you charge for this sort of work?  Do you make playable avatars as well?

I've been waiting for the right time to jump into the metaverse and while I think prices still have some room to come down before it makes sense, never a bad idea to start learning and working with people that have experience in the space.  Good luck!
4434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Sam Bankman-Fried go to jail? on: December 15, 2022, 07:36:53 PM
I don't think the main focus should be if SBF goes to jail or not, I think there are probably many other players who should be held accountable too. At the end of the day, FTx as a company stole billions from people who had considered them as a trustworthy institution. If people go to jail, everyone involved should.

Personally I am still in awe that this has even happened.

Part of me thinks that the whole teams belongs in jail.  The other part of me thinks that there had to be one person who made the decision to start defrauding people.  The rest of them were just doing their jobs right?  With how educated their team was, I can't decide if they were stupid kids who thought they were in control of the crypto space, or genius con artists who worked the laws to hide billions for themselves while giving their attorneys enough leeway to get them off without any serious consequences.  We'll see when things get to court.  I tend to think people as educated as them always had a plan and executed it, but there is a chance they were dumbass kids high on drugs that got way too much investment due to who they knew.
4435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 15, 2022, 07:33:20 PM
Cant believe finally it happened Cheesy He has been in UFC ranking for ages, while being practically inactive. After a loss to Khabib, he had only 3 fights (win against old Cerrone and two losses to Poirier). That is ridiculous. I know that he is a money cow for UFC, but he should not be in rating with such poor and bad activity. Also I would have removed Ferguson. After a win over Cerrone (again him Cheesy), he has 5 straight losses. Such fighter simply can not be top15.
One of the reasons for the inactivity is that nasty leg snap though. Although, obviously he probably shouldn't be in the rankings, we all know that he's good enough. You put him against most of the fighters outside the top five, and he probably wins, and I'm hoping that's what Dana decides to do. Since, putting him against the top fighters is just going to tarnish his reputation further.

It's quite possible with some favourable matchmaking he'll start putting some wins together, and reach some of the heights he was at before.

Are you saying that current Conor McGregor would beat anyone aside top5 of lightweight division or prime McGregor? Currently, any top10 will beat him imho. And the only reason why he was in top15 list, to have an excuse why he is fighting this or that guy, when he picks his opponent, but not UFC gives him a bunch of opponents to fight against. He was in top15 because fans would not understand why unranked fighters is having a title shot so early or fights someone that is about to have a title shot.

P.S. I've heard rumours that he will fight Chandler and if he wins, he will get a title fight Cheesy

I also read an article yesterday that suggested Conor McGregor would be given a shot at a title fight if he wins his comeback fight.  Not sure how fair this is, but it's the right business decision.  Given that McGregor is on so many steroids he is making the Liver King seem tame, I would agree that he is probably the most dangerous fighter he's ever been right now.  In six months when that stuff is all out of his system I don't know what lingering effects will remain, but I wouldn't want to be the first guy to step in a ring with him.  He looks downright scary to be around with how ripped he is at the moment.
4436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 15, 2022, 07:30:56 PM
I can't remember the last time the world cared so much about the World Cup tournament.  I don't know if it was the upsets, or the return to stadiums after the covid lockdown nonsense, but it seems like I've heard the words World Cup more times in the last 2 months than I have in the last 10 years.  I guess this shows that soccer is becoming more popular in the US, perhaps people are getting sick of football after years of public relations disasters, or sports are just becoming more global.  I'm happy for soccer fans, but I think the sport has a long way to go before I'll sit down and watch a game.  Still, I'm glad that people are becoming more passionate about fun things.  Smiley
4437  Other / Archival / Re: who played here? on: December 15, 2022, 07:28:02 PM
Has anyone played at this casino www.dexterbet.com ? Share reviews about them who have dealt with them or maybe someone knows a good casino with identical odds to their sportbook. Thank

I'd be hesitant to gamble on a platform just because you like the odds they give with their sportsbook.  That seems like a risky way to choose an online casino.  Especially one where you don't know any users that have a good recommendation.  Why take the risk?  You're already taking great risk with gambling, then compounding it by gambling with a casino that may or may not pay you if you win...  That seems like a bad idea.  I'm not saying that nobody should ever try another casino again, but there are definitely risks involved.  It's never a good idea to be the first guy to try a new site.  If concern about reputation is an issue, choose a more reputable casino.  Seems like a reasonable solution.
4438  Other / Meta / Re: We can not discuss if 'ChipMixer is a honeypot or not' outside their own thread? on: December 15, 2022, 07:22:57 PM
[...] You can tell these people don't give a shit about how their activities negatively effect the community or Bitcoin, so long as they get some easy money. [...]
That's not really fair, I think. I'm pretty sure you're oversimplifying other people's positions and ignoring some of the ideology behind being in favor of mixers.

For me, being for fungibility necessarily means being for mixers. "Taint" is an idea that needs to be stopped before it takes root too deeply, and mixing is the only way I know of to frustrate attempts at creating UTXO blacklists.

Either you let criminals get away with stolen funds (which I agree is not ideal), or you impose a vast draconian infrastructure on everyone (which decimates any semblance of financial freedom). I know which side I choose.

It doesn't have to be that way.  You don't have to either promote money laundering or force everyone to operate in a vast draconian infrastructure.  That's ridiculous.  There is also a third option.  Don't promote money laundering.  The fact that so many users are willing to openly promote money laundering for a couple hundred bucks a week while trying to maintain some level or authority over other users here is being a hypocrite on a level you can only describe as being a sellout.  Now I see people are personally attacking me and going after my signature sponsor?  I wonder why...  This is what they do.  Try to villainize anyone who shines a light on their bad behavior.  Stake is perfectly legal though, operating sites for use in many countries including my own.  There is nothing illegal about it and while more and more laws are being passed to support online gambling being legal in more and more states/countries (including my own), you'll find these same places moving forward with regulation against money laundering "mixers" and the like.  I don't expect any apologies when mixers do become illegal and aren't allowed to run signature campaigns here anymore, but remember those who were supporting organizations that launder funds for members who defraud others here.  Similar to those who supported extortion attempts (shocker, they're mostly the same individuals).

Looks like OgNasty is right once again!

You mean the members who support money laundering and extortionists might not be good people?  Absolutely shocking.
4439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Too many chickens own BTC. Don't be a chicken, HODL! BE A LION. on: December 15, 2022, 04:12:08 PM
I disagree about your explanation that chickens are the reason behind this drop. I would say it was caused by pigs. Greed got companies playing musical chairs with each others funds in a game of curclejerk that ended in nobody having a place to sit. Their overleveraged bets are now forcing them to sell, not fear. Retail investors with a small leveraged position may have fear that they’re selling to run from, but the reason for this drop is most definitely not scared retail sellers.

The highlight that Bol Bol just made is downright dirty. He went on a full court break and dunked through the lane while juking 3 Hawks out of their socks. Check it out on Twitter to see it. He’s currently trending as a result. I can’t believe he didn’t get more playing time before the trade. I know he’s probably gotten better as a player but it’s clear he has major skills that go beyond a year of growth on the basketball court.
